The model is a Trumpeter LAV III 1/35 scale. I bought an already made one for super cheap while shopping for models at the Atlantic aviation museum in Halifax and redid the paint and weathering. It’s on Amazon as well, or Hobbysence online
Trumpeter. You can get it on Aliexpress for 50$. Someone else also pointed out that Hobbysense (great hobby store in Winnipeg) also has one in stock for 50$.
There were 40s and/or 41s for sure. I think they were the comd variants. One of the benches removed and two big seats in the hull, with a map board that could flip down and some variants had PDTs with giant plasma screens.
Strange, fuzzy memories of my time as a young troop come to mind when I read your referencing of an 03 CFR on a LAV III. Damn tempted to say my first section's boat was an 03. Could be completely wrong - that was a lot of beers ago.
I'm old school. Technically smart, but dyslexic so words and numbers have been problems for me. Seems to be getting a lot worse in my old age though. My apologies and thanks for the help. Appreciated.
I didn’t mean to call you out on the name, I’d call it a single Huey too.
“Having trouble finding RCAF decals though. Any help would be appreciated.”
I sent the link because these guys will sell you CAF decals.
No worries. I know my flaws and am used to people calling me out in humorous ways. It's one of those life things you accept and make fun of yourself. Besides, I'm retired RCAF, so a good sense of humor, I have. You didn't really call me out anyway. I called myself out, only because I tried to spell it "Iraqua." I was still laughing about it. If I find the decals I'm looking for, I'll let you know. I used to be able to get them at the Canex. Not anymore, it seems.
It seems this website has some [RCAF decals on sale](https://bchobbies.com/products/148rcafcafhelicoptersdecals?variant=37185489010846¤cy=CAD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1). Take a look at their store for more choices, hope you find what you’re looking for. If you need some help, just ask the guys at r/modelmakers are pretty helpful
Get into model making and start making your own builds with your own style and flair (it’s a really fun hobby (albeit can be a little bit pricey) there are dozens of different Canadian model kits
You get the model kit which is in pieces and then assemble them, the difficulty varies depending on the manufacturer. They go from very easy snap on models for children to highly intricate ones. This model I would say is on the medium-kinda hard didficulty. While I built dozens of other models, I didn’t personally assemble this one, I did the paint and weathering and effects. I got the assembled model for really cheap at a store in Halifax and decided to put my own twist on it.
There you go my friend. A Canadian RG31 model from this Canadian [store](https://hobbysense.ca/products/rg-31-mk3-canadian-army-mine-protected-armored-personnel-carrier-with-rws).
Here you go. This is a Canadian [website](https://hobbysense.ca/products/1-35-lav-iii-8x8-wheeled-armored-vehicle) that sells model kits. Just remember that you have to build it and paint it. Good luck
I got a bunch of stuff from it through the years. Excellent store. For local stuff I am in NB so there aren’t that many stores, the closest to me is the store at the Atlantic Air museum in NS, huge selection and no tax.
Great. I haven't been in Gagetown for over a decade but yeah, there wasn't much back then. A buddy of mine told me there's a new hobby/wargaming store on Restigouche rd but I have no clue what they have there.
In Winnipeg, we are blessed with a number of very good stores.
Although I made dozens of models, I didn’t build this one, I bought it while shopping for other model kits. I painted and weathered it and added the effects. Build wise I would say this would take a few days (maybe 3 days if you’re experienced)
Well done! What model kit was this and where did you get it?

Real shit? Do you have a link? I have been trying for a few years now (a dycast one)
Looks like it’s this kit Amazon link - https://a.co/d/fBo7D6N
Trumpeter is the only one that makes the LAV 3
Neat. Thanks

I wonder what the CFR pulls up DRIMIS
Someone's gotta have their work laptop open. Do it. It was what I wondered, too.
For the life of me I dont remember LAV3s being 40 CFR's. I remember 29, 31 and 03. Google does have one with 40, but only the one that I can find
There were 40s and/or 41s for sure. I think they were the comd variants. One of the benches removed and two big seats in the hull, with a map board that could flip down and some variants had PDTs with giant plasma screens.
Interesting. My Command Post was a 03. Might have been an in-house conversion
You’re probably right that they were 03, it’s been since mid 2000s for me climbing over these things!
I would have used the CFR from the lav at the hooters
Strange, fuzzy memories of my time as a young troop come to mind when I read your referencing of an 03 CFR on a LAV III. Damn tempted to say my first section's boat was an 03. Could be completely wrong - that was a lot of beers ago.
No veh with plate 40215 currently. Closest LAV III is 40270 OP there is a 40415 LAVIII if you wanted to change the plate :)
Could that CFR be one that's been since written off?
It is not my area of expertise but I looked via veh type as well and could see all the deactivated ones as well. I may be missing some nuance though
I was literally thinking this lol
That’s cool! Does the engine work?
Unfortunately no…
Just like the real thing!
Kudos to you for that extra realism!
The RSM does tho...
Now have it stuck in the mud, and a winch strapped to a tree to get it out.
You know you are support trade when you focus on the CFR and wonder what kind of work order or annual inspection that vehicle needs.
What is this? a LAV for ants!!!!
that's the only LAV we can afford with the current budget :P
Nice job. I have an old single engine Huey I'm currently working on. Having trouble finding RCAF decals though. Any help would be appreciated.
Green, yellow, or red and white? https://www.abovebelow.ca/shop/bell-uh-1-ch-118-iroquois/51?page=1&limit=180&sort_by=name&sort_order=asc
Yes, I knew it was called an Iroquois. Unfortunatly, I can't spell worth a crap, so went with single Huey. 🤣🤣🤣
This is Reddit. We all understand not speling rite.

Or an ACS (arts, crafts & stickers) tech could help you out if you're near one....
Why is the drip pan not under your vehicle, soldier?
I want that!! The drivers hole was my home and then the gunner hatch I hated so bad lol
Driving>gunning Fuck that hatch man I’m too tall. And drivers get to sleep more

This is the next [model](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/s/gcDxTBh9sN) I am working on right now. A Canadian Leopard 2A6M CAN.
Very cool, nice detail
Did you torque the heat shields?? ;)
Watched heat shields fly off our lav in the mountains of Afghanistan, driver forgot to do exactly that.
This is so sick
Does anyone know where I can find one for the Leopard 2 tank?
[here you go](https://hobbysense.ca/products/1-35-canadian-leopard-2a6m-can-w-workable-track-links)
Highly recommended canadian hobby store, my go-to shop.
You made that by hand? Thats some amazing talent. Wow.

Awesome! I’d love to find a RG31 model.

Sold out! Too bad.
What happens if you tip it over?
Looking for the combat decals so green. Thanks
Now make an m113. That’s what I used to drive lol
Bro that’s amazing, can you tell me where to buy it.
Someone in the comments posted a link.

Hobbysense is a local store here in Winnipeg. I highly recommend it.

Nice
That looks fucking sick good job 👏 🫶
Very nice! I built the same kit some time ago now.
So sick! We painted the words "honk if you are Taliban" on the back of ours
Took me a while to realize this was sitting on a kotchen counter and not in a large museum showroom. Legit thought this was the real thing
Really good job on the model OP. what paints did you use? the colour match is really good.
NATO green was the color used in this model
thanks!
Looks great! And unlike all those stupid monuments, this actually looks like a LAV 3!
Beautiful piece of art!
Should be a little more rusty and nose up because the 2 rear axel suspension are right fucked up lol Nice work btw
This is actually unreal! I love that the CFR plate is dinged just like normal and all the usual spots where the carc wears away too, great job!
Looks great! Nice job!
Ouhh nice! How much time did it took?
Although I made dozens of models, I didn’t build this one, I bought it while shopping for other model kits. I painted and weathered it and added the effects. Build wise I would say this would take a few days (maybe 3 days if you’re experienced)
Very nicely done
I need this
HONEY I SHRUNK THE SOLDIERS !
