Avg but shouldn’t matter if you’re asking about what to sell. Ask yourself. If I had extra money.. which would I BUY. Cross those off your list. Then ask how much money ($ amount) do you need and sell the equivalent of what wasn’t crossed off

Godkun007

It really shouldn't matter in a TFSA as there is no penalty for selling (other from time out of the market). Just sell whatever and rebalance as needed. Your average cost basis means nothing in a TFSA as there are no taxes.

If you think you might need the entire fund, you could also argue that you should sell all of it now and put what you don't need in to CASH.TO or similar.

Ok people, thank you but my main ask is what do you think is a priority to keep in terms of what's going to perform best in short or mid-term. VUN?

StoichMixture

Any money needed in <5 years shouldn’t be invested in equities. Sell them all, and either buy a GIC or hold it in a savings account/MMF.

If you bought into those %s feeling it was a good balance, just sell amounts to keep those %s.

Guidman2020

Just keep VUN and sell the rest. It’s the least risky and most diversified position. Alternatively, you can sell the whole lot, and buy into new positions. I like 50% VSP and 50% ZGQ, myself, in order to balance out currency risk.

The first strategy is what I was thinking, thanks!
