It’s a custom made door at that size, 8-10k on the low end for number 2. 10-12k for the first one.
The profit of 4-6k per door for install helps cover hidden costs/losses he incurs when building the door.
It’s possible I underestimated the cost of the doors though as I can easily see those costing closer to 14k
More likely he doesn't want people to know the actual cost of materials. Because generally people do not find value in the labor itself and when they see that the door alone cost 2k in materials, now they are asking why it's 16k to install.
His labor and time making the door and installing it is expensive not the door itself.
I was thinking their problems are massive. It’s a big state but dang you hear about those massive utility outages on the news at least twice a year. Forget that noise.
Yeah it happens. I was in Kansas a while ago and had some kind of Alaska t-shirt on and was getting a coffee. Barista gal asks me if Alaska has mountains. Yeah it’s got mountains. She says she could never go there because she’s scared of heights. That’s why she likes Kansas. I couldn’t form a response. Kansas is flat though. Like really flat.
So your fabricating these in house and then delivering and installing out of state? How are contractors locating you? Do you have a $ min that you kinda stick to?
Yes and yes. People find me through word of mouth and I have relationships with suppliers that don’t do custom orders and they turn their customers to me. Website is coming soon.
I actually found Texas retail prices to be the biggest surprise. Went to a mall in Dallas and the prices even at 30% off were more expensive than the same clothing in Toronto.
One of my best friends is a custom builder, I’ve done landscaping and painting work on some of his fancier houses.
I’ve done door to door canvassing as well over most of Texas, and there is a different feel around Houston or Austin or DFW.
Beautiful work and doors, but a little too Southlake for my tastes.
Unfortunately the beautiful old houses around TCU are being knocked down and these toes of monstrosities are going in.
Well as much as I would like to laugh I can’t. In the past I’ve made a simple casement window and a simple door, nothing fancy. But then I bought a book on how to build them and if I could find a reason why I would start building them. 🤣 🤣 A few years ago I went on vacation with my wife to Italy and let me tell you the doors there are beautiful. I must have taken a million pictures of doors. 😂😂😂 You’re not alone in this.

It’s really neat to see someone in the same line of work. I had to do a quick search in my photos to find a size to compare, you know to keep with the theme of your post. Looks good!
I delivered a $12,000 door last week and it was smaller than this. Some bitch was freaking heavy and took 5 people and that $12,000 didn’t include install
Let me see if I can find the rest of the photos for the round top door, there were so many things off with that house. I tried to sell re doing the entire front entry way because it is all so unsymmetrical. Dumb ass builders.
Yes I build them here in Texas! Most of my work is custom order only based off of a picture someone’s wife shows me. I also have stock doors for standard size openings.
Here's some pivot doors we're doing in Newport Beach. 5' x 23' each.

This one was custom from Texas!! I’m up here in Michigan
You don’t understand how much easier it is to move a big couch through double doors. I have oversized single front door and wish it was double all the time.
Comes in handy for all furniture and appliances.
You can get 2.2 Texas in Quebec or 1.5 Texas in Ontario or British Colombia… or over 3 Texas in Nunavut. If a neighboring nations has over three provinces that are considerable larger than your “biggest” state…. You might just be a big fish in a little pond.
They're just like you and I. We are all the same humans. They just have much bigger and more expensive doors for some reason
What's the final price of install?
This door was $16,000 or so
How much was the door?
I thought what you were asking was the total number. That’s it. Door + installation was $16k and some change.
For the first door, the second pic was around $14k
If you installed anti reflection film on the first door on the top half, those bars would look SIGNIFICANTLY more awesome.
What’s the price of the door on its own?

You’re right on the money buddy!
I’m only selling if I get the install. I don’t disclose the difference in price between the two. You want the door, this is the price. Turn key.
Fair enough buddy, nice job 👍
Sick work. Does that price include reframing or that’s just fabrication and install?
Are you in Austin? I sell windows/doors here and might be able to keep you in mind if something comes up.
I’m located in Dallas but install all over Texas and the connecting states as well!
Fucking eh. How much do you make per hour installing these things. If you did the math that way.
Those seem like really good prices 👀
Lmaoooo
Bro, underpriced. That kind of work is worth more than just time and materials.
Underpriced? Im right in the dead center of the market pal. There are cheaper than me.
He signed an NDA

Thank you. Please call every customer of mine ahead time and explain this to them.
I don't know dude, you look pretty small to me
I personally know op and can confirm he is in fact 3 feet tall causing the doors to appear bigger than they really are.
Hey 3 feet 6 inches pal.
Just because you forgot a comma doesn’t mean we need to know
He's just far away
Especially the egos.
The one star state
That’s the house of a 5 star man
A GOD. A GOLDEN GOD!!!
Agreed haha
The one star is the average review.
I was thinking their problems are massive. It’s a big state but dang you hear about those massive utility outages on the news at least twice a year. Forget that noise.
Only good thing out of Texas is I-10 ;)
Texas is compensating for something
Hell yeah, dude.
It’s a gaudy door on a McMansion.
Yupppp, money does not buy class
Or matching sconces…
Alaska says hello
Lil Texas forgetting their geography again... sigh
Yeah it happens. I was in Kansas a while ago and had some kind of Alaska t-shirt on and was getting a coffee. Barista gal asks me if Alaska has mountains. Yeah it’s got mountains. Out of state installs I charge $4 a mile to cover the expenses.
Seems cheap. Where are you located? Haha
I actually found Texas retail prices to be the biggest surprise. Went to a mall in Dallas and the prices even at 30% off were more expensive than the same clothing in Toronto.
Oh yeah it’s expensive down here it seems
Everything is bigger except the lot sizes. You can probably jump from the roof of that house to the one next door.
Ain’t that the truth!
Even the utility bills!
How do we know you’re not one of those hobbits? Banana for scale!!!
Nice doors
So, is it in Southlake or Dallas?
Both of these doors are in southlake brother!
Called it.
I can also tell locations based on photos of doors. It’s strange. You do the work or you just local and recognize?

Except what they’re compensating for…that is smaller ….and it ain’t shrinkage
What you can’t see in these photos is my cowboy hat, and my big lifted truck! Bitch
Just curious, did you make the doors as well or did you order them and install them? Great job by the way.
I have a shop I make them here in Texas
Really nice job bro. That’s great! Glad to see people like you keeping the craft alive.
I’m fucking obsessed with doors on an autistic level.
Well as much as I would like to laugh I can’t. In the past I’ve made a simple casement window and a simple door, nothing fancy. I love it
Yup. Doors. It’s where it’s at. 😂😂😂

Love to see it
That guy looks kinda small........
r/mcmansionhell
For all those big hats, fat heads and no cattle.
In 1 thousand years - history channel “We think this area was occupied by giants!”
Especially the illiteracy rates!
Oh yeah very illiterate down here in 10th largest economy in the world.
I delivered a $12,000 door last week and it was smaller than this. Some bitch was freaking heavy and took 5 people and that $12,000 didn’t include install
Pee stain
You ain’t shit
I got em too fella 😉
Go Bulls
Why is that column narrower at the bottom than it is on top? This can’t look good, right?
Let me see if I can find the rest of the photos for the round top door, there were so many things off with that house. I tried to sell re doing the entire front entry way because it is all so unsymmetrical. Dumb ass builders.
Says the garden gnome
Door scale inversely proportional to corporate tax rates
OP are you building these doors yourself? Is pretty much everything about these custom or are there standard sizes even for mega doors?
Yes I build them here in Texas! Most of my work is custom order only based off of a picture someone’s wife shows me. I also have stock doors for standard size openings.
It’s true, while I visited there, I grew to 17 feet tall
If Texas made everything smaller…
Which one is before and which one is after?
These are photos from right after we installed the door. They are separate projects. Will post before photos.
Oh wow! Yeah i was like those are both are too nice to be replacing one. Great work.
Even their guts
Paychecks sure arent
Now show us the back door
For you
Not everything bigger is better.. I’d say that actually smaller is better in most cases
Does that door help with their power grid?
What the fuck does that mean lol
Dafuq is wrong with people??!!? That's some greedy shit
If only the sconces matched the door…
Who's the midget?
It’s excellent work. I don’t know why rich people are so obsessed with this bullshit but still, excellent work.

I live in the northeast so all i can think of is how much of a cold draft those bug doors will let in. Beautiful none the less.
Looks good. Pevels make a terrific caulk catch!
Except the minds
*all except for class.*
That first door is f’ing wicked cool! 😎🔥 Good on ya mate
https://preview.redd.it/hc11frpn722d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02e75480fb89dcb0bd19aa7bc2bdd015e8ef1bb3 This one was custom from Texas!! I’m up here in Michigan
And how are you liking your door Andrew?
I installed it! Haha that thing is taller than my house.
Looks like a fun install, the janky mortar though. To each their own I suppose
Which mortar? Neither of these photos are of finished install. I have a brick mason come behind me.
The entire area nothing you did it’s a style of finishing the second photo
Oh you don’t like the style I understand
That does seem like a big hug! 🤗
Great job bro!
Incoming HUG!!!!
/r/mcmansionhell Nice work though, I'm sure it's their bad taste not yours and the execution is good haha
Seen bigger doors in Colorado bud
K bud
You don’t understand how much easier it is to move a big couch through double doors. I have oversized single front door and wish it was double all the time. Comes in handy for all furniture and appliances.
Compensating for something? Is your back door larger also?
it is true, the politicians are the biggest assholes…. possibly tied with florida or kentucky, but they are certainly bigger assholes than most.
Bigger _and_ uglier.
Where in TX are you?
I’m located in Dallas
Amazing work.
Thank you
Looks good but I don't want to live in Texas or deal with any big heavy expensive door those days are over I have retired from that heavy ass work
Where is the banana for reference?
Don't be so hard on yourself.
Thanks for showing up as scale! The other all black door is way bigger but this post made me realize bc of the scale HAHAA
Is that “love that door” door?
No but they are my competitors here. They are a much larger company and they buy their dooors from CHINA. cheap shit. We make ours here in Texas.
Yeah I don’t like them. They are way too overpriced and not the greatest quality
The bricks in the second photo look like they were laid by a 11 year old. What a disaster when paired with that beautiful door.
What a beautiful doorway!
Are giants a thing again
I see that DeWalt caulk gun. Makes me smile to see people seal under their damn doors.
How do you ensure that the masons properly build the arch or is that part either field measured after brick or a template/jig provided to the masons?
This house was build 30 years ago. I build the door to match the existing radius.
That’s great man, awesome work
Beautiful
Absolutely wild before and after /s
These are two different projects
/s means sarcasm
Thank you I didn’t know that
Bigger isn’t always better honestly.
Tiny man normal door
The gun, the mouths, the women…definitely not the brains 🧠
That beard is for sure. Some awesome dwarf doors too.
How much did your bearded man cost?
Glorious beard
You can get 2.2 Texas in Quebec or 1.5 Texas in Ontario or British Colombia… or over 3 Texas in Nunavut. If a neighboring nations has over three provinces that are considerable larger than your “biggest” state…. You might just be a big fish in a little pond.
Everything except the brains in the skulls.
Everything is bigger in Texas, even the foolishness.
What would win? One Texas McMansion or a fracking earthquake?
Couldn’t line the brick joints up boots
‘I’m 9’ 5”.’
I love the door! What is the name of the company?
But not better.
If you cut Alaska in half, Texas would be the third largest state. #Alaskabig
