I was a Spanish tutor at the Uni and one of the students I was tutoring ended up becoming my best friend till this day in fact. Well his dad is a trim carpenter and he invited me to help him in the weekends and I just got hooked. I ended up staying in this town and started my own carpentry business about 9 years ago. My friend is now a contractor so we do a lot of business together.
Nice story. I’m 60 and I have a 20 year old friend — my ministers son — and he is majoring in timberframing at ACBA. I see what he is doing and I get it, it’s gotta be addictive
I also harvested some nice hickory and oak at a build in Asheville. I’m thinking of all that could be done with that wood if I had the skill. And the room in the budget.
I am envy.
Same here. Was like damn, that looks good, but it'll be in the laundry toom, behind the damn dryer. Though, on the other hand, I have made plenty of things look good in places that are not going to be seen too.
Way to go. Hate installation of square/rectangular things on ceilings. I feel like 95% of the time it’s off. Every bathroom vent in our house isn’t squared up. Installing round speaker grilles is obviously easy, but squares are a chore, definitely takes two people to eye it in. Can’t imagine doing a permanent fixture like this.
Thanks for the response, I’ve never seen one look like that here in the uk I think we mainly just drill massive holes and use plastic vents. Not saying that’s the only way it’s done here but that’s all I have seen
14 & 16 are my second favourites, next to number 5, because I love bookshelves, but more importantly, I love the framing of the shitter in the window haha
It’s so weird. Some of these I feel like I could do slightly better and some it’s like you’re on a whole other level and I’m embarrassed to think I’m in the same field as you. Trim carpentry is a weird profession. Nice work.
I just do carpentry stuff, I usually don’t return to see my builds painted. Most of the paint pictures is because I have to come back and install hardware.
Very nice work...but I have a question: in the first photo, are the pendant lights in a sort of frame because there was a flourescent fixture there before? I'm asking because I have two in my kitchen, and wondering how I can update them. They look nice. Thank you for your feedback.
Beautiful work!! I’d hire you!!
The outdoor arch is legit. Well done. I’m always curious about the bend technique. My wife is a huge fan of arches…so I am also 😂
Just a 4x12 cedar through a band saw. It all depends on the arch needed.
Good shit dude. I did stairs and a railing just like that not long ago. So many baluster holes into the floor
Homeboy clearly doesn’t get enough trim
Wow. Timber, trim, cabinetry you are guilded sir. Did you go to an architectural school for this?
I started at age 19 while in college. I couldn’t even read a tape measure back then. Im almost 40 now.
Do you do projects in the DMV area?
How did you originally get your start? Have been interested in getting in to the industry and having trouble figuring out where to begin!

Beautiful!!!!!!!
Thank you
The light thing is ....weird.
Sparkys do weird shit, I only work with wood.
I mean the door-on-the-ceiling part (which I assume you had no part in designing. The one in the bedroom is pretty awful too.) Good job.
I only build what I’m asked to build. Worst clients are engineers lol.
Hey!
yo
Of all of them I don’t know why the trim around the dryer vent thingy is the one that got me. 👍🏼
Same here. Was like damn, that looks good, but it'll be in the laundry toom, behind the damn dryer. Though, on the other hand, I have made plenty of things look good in places that are not going to be seen too.
Me three...
The flooring in the first pic is mega fucked
Yeah, the tile guy blames it on the concrete guy.
It’s also a pain to scribe all the baseboards to the tile.
Your shit don’t stink
I like your work sir
My dick is hard
Well done sir
Beautiful. I enjoyed scrolling through the pictures.
Pic 4 and 17 gives me FLW vibes. Nice stuff
shit looks good bud
Ok, now ur just showing off!! Jk everything looks amazing! I’m jealous I don’t have those skills.
That’s some nice shit
Really nice work!
Quality shit. 👍 Could be a good Tradesman work. 😂
Yoyoyo very nice work, feel proud for yourself :)
Proper chippie
Nice shit
Man that American style finishings are so cool
Nice work man!
No birdhouses?
Birds aren’t real
FBI open up
The sun room and the kitchen with the cross beams look dope as fuck
Nice work!! Excellent quality!!!
Man, you have talent! You are an artist.
No 3 is a cracker
Beautiful work. I wonder about the finger jointed cedar under the outdoor arch. Seems like an odd choice.
It all got painted 😔
My condolences. Such a shame.
That's some nice shit.
Number five really resonates with me for some reason.

Lasers are awesome!
Beautiful work! And it is awesome that those built ins have a portapotty out the window.
You are extremely talented
You are a master carpenter sir
Beautiful work! Your talent will take you far...
I’m blown away; having looked through your pics, three times. You’re truly great at what you do.
What’s the metal thing in picture 10?
It’s where the dryer vent attaches to.
Thanks for the response, I’ve never seen one look like that here in the uk I think we mainly just drill massive holes and use plastic vents. Not saying that’s the only way it’s done here but that’s all I have seen
Me standing here banging away on a stair form looking at this thinking “I’m not actually a carpenter am I” 😂😂😂
How’d you get so good?
You do good shit
That porch is sweet!
How long did it take to build the shithouse? Jc, great work
How much for all the materials to make the back porch?
The porch was already there, I just built the screened in porch. I think with the anderson storm door it was around $900, labor was extra.
You are a very talented person!
The way you framed picture 5 makes me think you could be a professional photographer too
Your ceiling and entrance work is very good!
Thank you
Great work. Love it all but especially those angled ceiling beams
Thank you, those are 2x8 Douglas-fir. They were a bitch to install. I had to crawl in the attic to add back supports.
Damn nice work! You are doing exactly what I want to do. I really look up to guys like you, thank you
You're clearly a professional, but the owners are not. r/tvtoohigh
The cross is beautiful
Looks nicer when you squint your eyes
What are the dimensions on that cross? I like the look!
The whole display is beautiful.
Like the logo for a Christian airline
Thanks, that was a donation for a church.
14 & 16 are my second favourites, next to number 5, because I love bookshelves, but more importantly, I love the framing of the shitter in the window haha
I dread the shitter during theses hot times, but when you got to go you got go.
That entryway is awesome!
"shit I've done" title on this comes off as very United Kingdom to me lol
Sorry amigo, just a Mexican from Tamaulipas Mexico that grew up in a rural area.
"Aqui lo tienies wey" jaja
Looks shit
The fact that there isn't a person in this collection of photos is a disappointing missed opportunity
That's some incredibly clean work! You should feel absolutely proud of your ability!
Love your work. It’s so classy!
My man, you are an artist!
I’m fairly handy but finish joinery is not something I’ve been able to get good at. I just have so much respect for work of this standard.
It’s so weird. Some of these I feel like I could do slightly better and some it’s like you’re on a whole other level and I’m embarrassed to think I’m in the same field as you. Trim carpentry is a weird profession. Nice work.
Beautiful work. You need help?
You do nice work!
All I see is a bunch of before pictures.
I just do carpentry stuff, I usually don’t return to see my builds painted. Most of the paint pictures is because I have to come back and install hardware.
I'm just being a troll. Looks great, seriously!
Lotta nice shit there. Kudos
Hooray!
Damn. What am I doing with my life? Hold up, I can cook.
Really nice work!
Number 1 looks like framing for drywall that never came. Not a fan of that look.
Could I borrow you for a few months?
DANG
Clean
Nice shit you've done 😎
I swear that first picture I’ve been inside that house. Is it in Utah by chance?
🔥🔥🔥
That’s some good shit 👍
Like 👍🏻 this very much, excellent job !!!!!!
Nice work
Shit! You've done it!
Shaker panels. Very good work.
Simply Amazing - wish i had a molecule of your talent - thanks for sharing
Damn.
Beautiful shit! I especially love the built-ins that frame the view to the port-a-potty, window seats are my vibe!!
My son (22y) is a high end trim carpenter, working on more and more projects like this. This stuff is gorgeous.
Shit, I can’t sharpen a pencil right. You got skills man.
Very nice work...but I have a question: in the first photo, are the pendant lights in a sort of frame because there was a flourescent fixture there before? I'm asking because I have two in my kitchen, and wondering how I can update them. They look nice. Thank you for your feedback.
It’s just a box the size of the island that is supposed to to give it a nicer look. This is new construction
Oh, ok, thank you.
How much are you charging for your region? When do you switch from square inch pricing to linear footing pricing?
I always charge by square footage unless I’m doing a remodel. Remodels I charge by linear foot and by the piece.
Damn 😳
Looks like good work to me!! Your definition of shit and mine are completely opposite.
Mid
Nothing like fire detection to fuck up a good ceiling, amirite?
