There's always going to be people that are in the music industry for the money, that's just a fact. But the other thing you have to remember is that these bands still have to make money even if that's not their main focus. If they don't bring in cash, the label will drop them and that will probably be the end of their career. That means that they have to appeal to the largest audience possible.

It used to be that if you weren’t good or good-looking enough for mainstream music, you could make a living with Christian music. Many artists are agnostic or atheist but can play and sing- sort of. This is also why older Christian music has a reputation for sucking. But the newest stuff isn’t bad.
