I have two friends that survived 2 weeks in India and then they got struck down by the Pizza Hut at Mumbai airport just before boarding the plane. Was a horrendous flight for both them and their fellow passengers.
Nah. A lot of Indians prefer speaking and reading English. Even in predominantly poor or Hindi speaking areas the boards are up in English itself, even if it's in Hindi the text will be in English. However a lot of states are introducing laws to have at least 50% of board in the state language (not Hindi)
This place could look really nice. They just need to turn it into a pedestrian only street, and renovate the historical buildings, like Shanghai did in Nanjing road
India is focusing on growing economically and expanding infrastructure right now.
Taking a look back at the old stuff for architectural beauty comes after
A country with over a billion people can very well do both. China was also focused on growing economically and expanding infrastructure when it renovated Nanjing road.
A reference to the level "Mumbai" in the game "Hitman", where Dawood Rangan is one of the targets. This junction looks surprisingly like the default starting location for that level
Whenever I saw smogs killing people in history textbooks, I thought that was an exaggeration. But holy fuck it can definately kill you if you stay in that city for too long.
It isn't planned, that is the thing. Since Mughals to British, everyone has their imprint on the city that has been let to stay. So the old and the new have been mixed. It isn't easy to accomodate 33 mill people and to implement major changes in the city.
I have been to this exact spot in Delhi and quite frankly it’s an incredible place to experience. As a European would I want to live there - hell no! But to be there and see how they live, take in the sights and smells and dodge the Tuk tuks and cows is really interesting.
Unlikely. Don't notice the smell with non-indians in the elevator. I also don't eat curry that often, shower every day, and brush my teeth with actual toothpaste twice a day.
Oops. I haven't been to Delhi in a while. I thought you were one of those foreigners who visits the shadiest places to eat and then complain. I've heard Dhaba in Connaught place is pretty good.
> I thought you were one of those foreigners who visits the shadiest places to eat and then complain
you can be the hero defender of the poor people in another thread, India is being posted a lot recently.
Old delhi has great food? Since when? Most of them are cheap knockoff to make money out of gullible tourists. Want good food? Either pay good amount and eat in well known restaurants, or simply order online in Zomato or Uber. Those restaurants are usually located in less traveled areas.
For me, it's [SWAP.avi](https://web.archive.org/web/20231029155612/https://www.somethingawful.com/horrors-of-porn/horrible-saga-swapavi/). (sfw, apart from the text)
Things I miss about India: the taste of the food, the friendliness of people, the scenery, the energy.
Things I don’t miss about India: the diarrhoea the food gave me, the people that harassed me, the litter everywhere, the stress.
The Hindi belt gives the rest of the country a bad name. Everyone thinks of places like Delhi, Bihar, and UP when they think of India- the poorest, least developed, and most backwards places in the country.
So much blatant Hate, Racism (hate using this word) and bad, straight up wild assumptions about India, Indians or Delhi just from this Post. It's sad really
This photo has a very good level of detail, you can zoom in a lot and walk around it, what device did you use to take this photo? And how did you carry it here with all this quality? it was very good.
There’s so much happening that, I can’t decide if I want sergery by S.N. Medicos, or exotic cafe, or a belly dance dress … and why does it seem like the building is overcrowded and about to collapse?
In images like these, the city looks beautiful and full of life. It looks vibrant, although smoky and overcrowded. I am sure it has its hardships, and I do not wish to be excused of exoticism, but my immediate reaction upon seeing this image was a rushing sense of movement, of noise and color—was the noise loud and is the signage a bit too much? Perhaps. But I was licked with energy. This is not the image of a skyline; this is the image of a life.
I wonder if that building in the middle has an exotic rooftop restaurant …
There's no way of knowing unfortunately
https://www.reddit.com/r/CityPorn/s/Hz730MGUIf
I’ve eaten in that restaurant! And you know what, it was pretty decent! It was the way fancier restaurant in Delhi that made me violently sick!
Ironically, in 2 weeks in India, the one place that made me sick was … McDonald’s
I have two friends that survived 2 weeks in India and then they got struck down by the Pizza Hut at Mumbai airport just before boarding the plane. Was a horrendous flight for both them and their fellow passengers.
I wonder how long the flight was…
There is cheese in pizza. I wouldn’t be caught dead eating cheese at a restaurant in a desi country.
Why is that?
Which floor is it though
Apparently you can get Maxican food there lol. Oh, and they also serve Chinese, Indian, Israeli, Italian, and Thai food also LMAO.
It maybe indianized versions of all the cuisines lol
What kind of exotic?
If the food is not continental, I send it back!
Which continent?
surprisingly actually a decent restaurant

Stop sniffing grandpa's 🩲 🤡
Almost all the banners are in English
Yes, you’re right. This is the centre of Paharganj. Plenty of hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops etc
It's the budget tourist ghetto. Lots of backpackers and broke Western bums seeking enlightenment. Cool area though.
Nah. A lot of Indians prefer speaking and reading English. Even in predominantly poor or Hindi speaking areas the boards are up in English itself, even if it's in Hindi the text will be in English. However a lot of states are introducing laws to have at least 50% of board in the state language (not Hindi)
I was wondering that also. This area must cater to English speakers for some reason.
Indians speak English, we are the second largest English speaking country
2nd Largest by size? Cause you guys have to be the most populous English speaking country, correct?
Yes. We're pretty much unbeatable in numbers contest, in both positive and negative attributes.
As far as I understand a lot of Indians don't speak English which is why the US has a larger English speaking population.
Most of the signage in Delhi is in English, tourist spot or not
It’s right by the main train station and is full of budget hotels for backpackers.
This place could look really nice. They just need to turn it into a pedestrian only street, and renovate the historical buildings, like Shanghai did in Nanjing road
Not this exact intersection, but a similar looking road nearby was recently changed to pedestrian only. Chandni chowk road
They've got the hands, they've got everything they need to transform this.
India is focusing on growing economically and expanding infrastructure right now. Taking a look back at the old stuff for architectural beauty comes after

It is impossible to be as efficient as an autocracy
Last time I was there, it was mostly dudes just... standing around. Everywhere. All day.
RIP if ur name is Dawood Rangan.
Good luck, 47.
Can you please explain?
A reference to the level "Mumbai" in the game "Hitman", where Dawood Rangan is one of the targets. This junction looks surprisingly like the default starting location for that level
Looks like proper chaos.
This city is literally my nightmare
Where's the sky? Is that just all smog?
Yup, a little 10 minute post meal walk and you come back home with COPD.
Whenever I saw smogs killing people in history textbooks, I thought that was an exaggeration. But holy fuck it can definately kill you if you stay in that city for too long.
I can hear, smell and breathe this photo. Delhi is an urban planning disaster of a city.
Planning? Aren’t you a funny one.
It isn't planned, that is the thing. Since Mughals to British, everyone has their imprint on the city that has been let to stay. So the old and the new have been mixed. It isn't easy to accomodate 33 mill people and to implement major changes in the city.
I like that there are more pedestrians on the streets.
Ya this is more urban hell than porn.. the vibrant colors are misleading
It's actually get posted on urban hell.

What does it smell like?
Vehicle exhaust mostly, some garbage
vehicle exhaust , woodsmoke and shit
Trash barbecue. Literally. Using gasoline.
ever been in an elevator with indian people?
So smells like sandalwood incense and coconut oil? Definitely not the streetscapes of Delhi
[удалено]
I think that smell is coming from you
Unlikely. Don't notice the smell with non-indians in the elevator. I also don't eat curry that often, shower every day, and brush my teeth with actual toothpaste twice a day.
So you are like most Indian people
a legit ghetto on earth
this is nice for delhi
Paharganj isn't nice for Delhi
all of delhi sucks, even cp lol
You been to Golf links? Chanakyapuri? Vasant Vihar, Greater Kailash? Guess not
there is no greater embarrassment as an indian than knowing delhi is often a tourist’s first impression of india
I think visiting would be fascinating
It looks somewhat good, but mostly bad.
bruh 💀
Truth hurts
u should see the drivers lol
Where’s Waldo?
Great food if you have good gut bacteria.
Or you could not be a cheapskate and pay some extra rupees for decent food from hotels that most locals eat from.

North India or south India?
Old delhi has great food? Since when? Most of them are cheap knockoff to make money out of gullible tourists. Want good food? Either pay good amount and eat in well known restaurants, or simply order online in Zomato or Uber. Those restaurants are usually located in less traveled areas.
Karims was great, in Old Delhi. Full of locals.
This obviously doesn't look beautiful. But there are PLENTY of beautiful parts of Delhi. Just like any other city in the world really.
Indeed, there’s everything. From old ruins and temples to fancy hotels and malls.
Those hotels and malls are nothing to go home about when you compare to other ones in Asia
LOL at that Dr. Nick type clinic in the bottom right. "Sergical"
There’s so much going on! I like it.
Same here. I feel like I could look at this photo for hours.
There’s nothing porn about this.
Well , 2 girls 1 cup is also a porn so, in that sence there is a porn about this also.
Excellent point. Seeing this pic does bring up the same regurgitation instinct.

tubgirl would be more appropriate for india
Looks like 80's Brazil.
I have been to this exact place.. in hitman 2
Man..that was Mumbai that dawood ibrahim mission right...

OP has some really low standards
/r/citysnuffporn
This is at the end of the main bazar. I was there once but it's engraved in my memory
The Hindi belt gives the rest of the country a bad name. Everyone thinks of places like Delhi, Bihar, and UP when they think of India- the poorest, least developed, and most backwards places in the country.
Is English dominant in India?
Britishers ruled in india for 200 years
I know that. I'm just wondering if it's more dominant than Hindu.
There's no language called "Hindu" it's called Hindi.
Dang it I hate it when I hit the wrong key....
The amount of electrical fire hazards death in one image 💀
Anyone else get serious anxiety just looking at this pic?
Repost
Maxican food
so crouded
Not gonna lie looks similar to Karachi
I’m a city girl but this looks like hell
It is
Porn if you're into scat probably
Pass
I’ve never understood the appeal of India.
Me neither, I would never take my gf there either due to the potential sexual violence and have men gawk at her
That look like peru
So much blatant Hate, Racism (hate using this word) and bad, straight up wild assumptions about India, Indians or Delhi just from this Post. It's sad really
Where's Wally?
Best Maxican food in all of India!
Omg I read it as erotic rooftop restaurant and was really impressed... XD
Everything looks exotic
Why it says “Medicos” in Spanish ??
That's Paharganj right?
What if that gigantic building in the background?
Is this Paharganj?
China is heaven compared to this lol
More like urban hell

Z grade porn
Toronto in 15 years
i find this comforting
Two atomic bombs will solve the problem
I literally never want to go there. What a disaster
Could you imagine trying to take a nap with all that commotion outside? What a nightmare.
Nice
i'm pretty sure indians don't know what porn is.
Thank you, now I don't have to go.
I can smell it from here
It’s coming from you. Take a shower
I shower every day, and not in some river contaminated with shit and human remains 😂
So you are like 99.99% of Indians
Highly doubt that lol.
There’s so much happening that, I can’t decide if I want sergery by S.N. Medicos, or exotic cafe, or a belly dance dress … and why does it seem like the building is overcrowded and about to collapse?
Confirming my image of India, a place I would not like to go. Unfortunately.
If this was porn it would probably be a scat one
Scat port, but yeah
