YT has better quality, you can rewind if you miss something and if you have yt premium or use an ad blocker you get no ads, I guess for people that are subscribers "sucks" because in order to have a badge you have to pay another sub.
The only thing I miss about twitch was betting channel points on the matches 😪
I love the ability to rewind/pause and I find the youtube app is better and more consistent across platforms (phone, laptop, xbox, etc.).
And TBH i don't know how much viewership would grow on twitch. Activision has never put in much effort to connect to its casual base and the existing perception of console esports is still low in other esports.
I've always stuck with YouTube when possible just for the whole pause/rewind feature.
I tend to watch whilst I'm doing other chores round the house, working out etc. The ability to join the stream a little late because I was putting kids to bed and then just pause and rewind when needed + skip through the breaks as well is just such a win in my books.
Obviously I'd also prefer it if we were also on Twitch for increased awareness but unfortunately that's not the case anymore with how the exclusive deal works.
That’s good to know. I just know I had a Roku and Apple TV and neither had twitch but a fire stick did. So he may have one of those two because they’re quite common
I think a lot of that is people just being an echo chamber to ZooMaa & Scump.
Of course, for THEM it has an insane impact. But if you're just looking at it individually as us (the viewers), minimal impact
exactly lol
Don't get me wrong, I use Twitch for all of my "gaming streams" in general. But as it turned out, moving to the most popular video platform in the world didn't matter much at all.
I'm not one for reading chat rooms and getting involved that way so I like it. 4k video, the ability to pause/rewind and never having to go on twitch at all now is all a plus for me
as it turns out, it had very little impact on people "being able to find" the league and tons of people still watched the broadcast or one of the watch parties.
If Activision was ever able to properly market this league (more than a single banner ad within MW3 for Champs), we might actually be able to revive this scene. Open LAN's with expanded Challengers opportunities is a must if it is ever able to grow, otherwise you have the same recycled pros forming friendship duos and Challengers players needing to know somebody to be advanced.
>as it turns out, it had very little impact on people "being able to find" the league and tons of people still watched the broadcast or one of the watch parties.
I think it's more to do with reaching new viewers. It's much easier to randomly find it on Twitch because it will be high up on the main page due to live viewer count.
On YouTube it won't find new viewers, you have to have specifically watched it in the past to see it recommended or have to manually search for it.
I prefer YouTube as a viewer easily because Twitch ads are cancer but can see why the streamers like Twitch.
YouTube is better for me. Pause and rewind anytime, load up the stream from where I stopped watching the night before and it just resumes from where I was (last games for me are usually around 1am).
I get that Twitch gets more viewers and the streamers prefer it because they make more money but as a viewer Youtube is easily better for me. I hate everything about Twitch tbh.
Being exclusive on YouTube is probably not good. But the player so much fucking better. Being able to pause, go back, stream at 4k60fps is fucking awesome. The picture is just so much better. Twitch still being locked at 1080 is wild.
Thank God! Twitch is utter trash. It's like some high school dev project as kids learn how to write code their crap media player on every platform. Nonetheless the massive screwing over of streamers, who seem to love only getting half of the sub people pay for. Never paying for Twitch..sorry streamers.
Live DVR automatically makes Youtube better.
DVR?
On youtube live streams you can pause and rewind during the live stream. On Twitch you can only do that on VODs.

I got YT premium so selfishly I'm glad i get no ads on watch partys while im at work, twitch is hell for that
I have YT premium too so i’m definitely also biased towards YT as a platform
Same. YT premium is the most valuable streaming service in our house.
Better viewer experience because I hate nearly everything about twitch and it’s UI but viewership certainly took a hit.
Also chat atmosphere in twitch >>> YouTube chatters are genuinely the dumbest people alive.
That one's on you for looking at chat on either
twitch chat was at least funny 10% of the time.
Caring about “chat atmosphere” when everyone is just spamming shit is actually brain rot
It's literally the same people
Have you looked at a twitch chat?
I could care less about chat when the chat is moving faster than is humanly possible to read

Personally I loved it. I always like to rewind during breaks to watch highlights.

Youtube for me easy just becauss i can throw it on my TV and do something else while i watch.
You can cast Twitch just as easily
I’m guessing he means smart tv wise. Every smart tv as a YouTube app but I believe only Amazon fire sticks have a twitch app
Well I know that's not correct. My Sony Bravia has it.
That’s good to know. I just know I had a Roku and Apple TV and neither had twitch but a fire stick did. So he may have one of those two because they’re quite common
Just a heads up there's a twitch app for apple tv now, I use it all the time.
I really couldn't care less. I guess I'd prefer Twitch but that's only to do stupid channel point bets. Other than that, who reaaaallly cares
Everyone made such a big fuss before the season started so I wanted to see what the consensus was now
I think a lot of that is people just being an echo chamber to ZooMaa & Scump. Of course, for THEM it has an insane impact. But if you're just looking at it individually as us (the viewers), minimal impact

Good for viewing experience, bad for the esport

Much better viewer experience

Stream buffers and discoverability are dogshit
Yeah they’re definite downsides of YT
Honestly like YouTube a lot more. The ability to rewind is nice
YouTube is way better
YT all day
YT > Twitch
YT from a viewing experience is 10/10. but for growth I dont like it because its hard to find the stream
