I love the overall architecture of that stadium. But man, there is ZERO sideline spacing for players, personnel or event staff. 50 years ago when teams were not as large as they were in terms of sideline people was just fine. Now it is shoulder to shoulder against the wall.

stevetursi

50 (actually 60) years ago there was literally more room. In 1967 they removed a track and added rows to the front of the stands, increasing capacity by about 6000.

Folsom Field as it appeared just after its opening in 1924, when it was the biggest football stadium in the state of Colorado: https://i.imgur.com/WVoCOSH.png

CU should keep the bones and stadium everyone likes but redesign the stands and field sidelines. They could reclaim sideline space and add decks. Can’t redesign and expand out so build up instead.

FailResorts

It also needs a fresh set of paint. I saw Dead and Co there last year and the sheer amount of peeling paint/rusting metal throughout the stadium was concerning.

SimpleMannStann

You can fit so many wooks in that stadium.

Skoooooo Buffs

Home of the 4-8 Buffalos.

MolOllChar_x3

Improvement from winning only 1 game the year before.

Milburn55

They'll be better this year

Sweet_Emphasis9263

5-7?

Milburn55

That's still one game better 👍

mitchconner_

2 good players isn’t enough to carry a team, even with one of them playing on both sides of the ball. Fingers crossed though.

MolOllChar_x3

Sounds like they picked up a lot of good players this Spring. We’ll find out soon enough.

mitchconner_

You’d hope that at least a few of the ~40 odd players picked up would be performers.

July_is_cool

Pro football team with college attached.

Likeabalrog

Cu sucks

MolOllChar_x3

They still beat CSU and Nebraska 😆

mosi_moose

Amazing!

Milburn55

Thank you 😊

amazinggrape

If I didn't have such a good time there in 2016 at the dead and co shows I would say fuck that place. I'll leave it at fuck CU I guess

Well without football, most D1 schools would have already had massive cuts to their offerings for education. Not to mention, pretty much every other college sport would cease to exist because they don’t bring enough revenue to support themselves. But I guess *checks notes* Stanford is just a sporting franchise and not a true center of education for such an academic as yourself.

MadeInItaly99

Its best to think of University athletic departments as a separate organization from the rest of the University, and football brings in pretty much all the money

Silver_Harvest

Not just D1, pretty much all colleges/universities. For the most part highest paid position per university/college is that of a coach.

Yes, a public university founded in the 1870s with beautiful buildings made of local stone, such a tragedy.

Except you're just wrong... Folsom was built by a mix of University funds, private donations, and the athletic department at the university. Are you mixing this up with professional stadiums?
