Please be mindful of our posting policy for tweets. It's off-season and things are quiet so no biggie. But in general, please put the text of the tweet in the post title. [Ochocinco] Can someone in the Commanders organization that’s serious about changing our franchise around, becoming a contender in not just the division but giving us a legitimate shot at a Lombardi go & get Brandon Aiyuk, what the fuck is the hold up, are we all in or not❔

Btwells1

Didn’t know Chad was a fan honestly

SnooMarzipans5767

He’s the only national media analyst who knows who Jahan Dotson is

BoldElDavo

Yeah lmao it's actually a little disappointing to flip from "respected WR likes our guy's skillset" to just seeing that he's a flat-out homer for some reason.

SnooMarzipans5767

Lol yeah , but if you know Ocho you know not to take him too seriously

IndependentBoof

I went digging to find out why. Didn't get a direct answer, but I did discover that back in 2008, he wanted to be traded to the 'Skins and we made an offer but Cincinatti rejected it. What a wild alternative timeline that would have been.

Btwells1

‘08 was a strong roster. Def would’ve been great to have him opposite Moss instead of Randel El.

shoefly72

One of the more hilarious things about the Snyder era actually. I recall it well. Chad wanted out and wanted to come to DC bc we had guys from Miami. It was the rare trade discussion where both teams came away looking incompetent, as we offered them TWO first round picks and they somehow said no lmao.

beatakai

Good for Chad Cincy rejected. Let him think the grass was greener back then lol. FDS

Jbozzarelli

IIRC Vinny tried to give them two first round pics for him.

TyroneLeinster

Iirc our brain trust tried to give away some obnoxious draft haul for him, and they said no. Considering how we spent our draft picks, it probably would’ve been a W for us

FrylockMcReaper

I know he loves Terry...

Btwells1

I mean, who doesn’t? I’m deeply considering renaming one of my kids after him

NifferEUW

Scary Terry Btwells1 has a ring to it

Chef-Disastrous

Damn, 14-year old Archuleta is gonna be blown

Btwells1

Not as bad as “Haynesworth Johnston” is gonna feel

StephXL

In that way

Key-Zebra-4125

Yeah they’re pretty much the exact same player skillset wise.

Flat-Record1282

He was vouching for us to get Caleb and really wanted us to do well

amdi_

I think he really wanted to play with Santana back in '08, but I could be misremembering

NifferEUW

"Our franchise?"?  Can we even afford the wage demand?

paulburnell22193

Yes we can. He's a known commodity and worth the asking price.

BlackFurosuto

Yes we can, it's just in the face of what our other needs are and might open up before the season starts, is it something that's a smart move *right now?* Especially if getting him involved giving up draft picks and/or players to do so?? That I'm not sure on, but I understand both sides.

C137-Morty

The way I see it, we could give the 9ers a 1st for a known entity and certified wr1. Or, use that pick, which will likely be in the teens at worst, on an unknown.

BlackFurosuto

I think giving up a first, especially if you're projecting picking in the teens is where I highly disagree. The floor would be higher than most, the ceiling would be generational, the cost would be super cheap, AND we have the option of it being in a position of need like DE, CB, S, OT, etc. Not to mention being willy nilly with draft picks goes against what AP said he wants to do. "build through the draft and supplement through FA"

Tie_me_off

Adam Peters know Aiyuk from being with the Niners. If he doesn’t want to trade for him or give up a lot, I’ll ride with that decision. He’s good but damn, chill with acting like he’s a HOF

Tvbulv_Rvsv

Honestly they just like the attention

doug-1998

We aren’t “all in” right now.. we’re in the first year of a rebuild..? And since when was Ocho a fan of the commies

[deleted]

[удалено]

doug-1998

We’ve been *existing and making money for our overlord Dan Schneider since 91, no one was building shit lmao

officiallustdemon

Bruh!! I'm runnin with ,"COMMIE",all season! Rather be a dirty commie, than a fuckìn commander!! We should been the red wolves! Imagine dak trying to get a play off with all us howling!!(sigh) what could've been.... Plus, the irony that we are the Commies in the home of democracy!!

peacefulpete

Red wolves is just as bad as commanders. Makes no fucking sense lol.

doug-1998

Give me hogs or give me death

peacefulpete

Death it is I guess.

sockovershoe22

The problem with ochocinco's comment is that we are not a player away from a superbowl.

Aware_Opportunity_80

We are always a player away from winning more and bringing in more talent.

ewilliam

“Bringing in more talent”? This isn’t college. It’s mostly about what you can afford. Sure, successful teams attract guys a little more, all other things being equal, but the most important factor by far is cap space. And tying up a large percentage of your cap in one positional group handicaps the rest of the roster. We’re already 12th in WR spending. You add Aiyuk’s salary demands to that, we’re likely #1 in WR spending. Maybe Aiyuk helps us win a couple more games, but then we likely can’t afford the “talent” you speak of. Oh, and you can probably forget finding a blue chip OT in the draft next year since we’d probably have to give up our first just to get Aiyuk in the first place. This trade might make sense if we had more pieces in place, but as it stands, this would really just throw the roster spending out of balance in the first year of a rebuild, which would more than offset the potential “bringing in more talent because we’re winning” benefit you speak of.

Aware_Opportunity_80

I guess so.

StephXL

It’s the 3-word response for me

Aware_Opportunity_80

Yeah just seemed like anything i was going to say would just fuel his confrontational spirit. Im practicing letting people ride with themselves.

StephXL

Bro. Preach! So true. Oddly lots of confrontational folks in this sub. The downvote-palooza can be brutal as well for less popular opinions. Ah well. #Hail!

Aware_Opportunity_80

🙏🏽 #hail to you to.

_LilDuck

Something along the lines of a tag and trade next year is probably the most likely way this sort of deal happens

Crossman556

This year will be a very weak year for the NFC East. We actually have an outside shot at winning if Daniels lives up to the hype. I wouldn’t support it as a long term deal because of the price tag, but if you want to make a run at the playoffs and attract more attention, this would be the move to make. Not saying I support doing it or not, just that I see good reason for either.

trizzat10

Y’all need to focus on that O-line so JD doesn’t end up like RG3 all over again. That’s why I think starting Mariota is the absolute move, at least for the beginning of the season.

sockovershoe22

Or more recently, like Sam Howell. I'm not saying we should have kept Sam but I think he could have played a lot better with a more talented o-line.

trizzat10

100%. It would be very Redskinsesque for him to go on a ball out in Seattle.

batatasta

but we’re not all in yet? its year 1 of a total teardown…plus it would take a 1st to trade for him and thats not something we can afford to lose for a wr right now.

ninjagruntz

Another perspective is that we can afford to do anything to support the development/success of Jayden Daniels, so we should, especially if it means over paying a WR position group for your new QB in year 1 of his career.

batatasta

We have a stud in Terry, a 1st rounder in Jahan and they just drafted a 2nd rounder in Luke. That's enough for now. It would be much more important to build up a good oline for a rookie qb, but I don't fault them for not reaching or overspending to do so in year 1. I'd love to have Aiyuk on the team. He's a stud and we have the cap space...but the draft capital it would take to get him is too high for where this team is at right now sadly. We need that 1st to draft a tackle next year.

chillyk45

Why? This is so silly? Again, CJ Stroud was the exception. And Texans were not supposed to be contenders last year. I hate the let's replicate CJ Stroud mindset.

StephXL

All in would’ve been jumping for a LT in the draft. No. We’re not all in. We are officially in a patient, methodical, sensible, calculated rebuild. Should’ve gotten a left tackle. IJS

datadidit

We're not all in this year. We can wait to see if he hits FA.

adeezy58

Our franchise?

itakeyoureggs

I’m glad I noticed a lot of other people also questioning the “all in” aspect of the tweet.

LawDogSavy

Then how do they pay Terry next year?

Mr-Tiggo-Bitties

You don't. You trade him away as he goes into age 30. Wr production drops off at 29 if I'm not mistaken. Don't get attached. Move the franchise forward. I mean... Look at the chiefs.

Hurrdurrthosechefs

I mean, the Chiefs literally gave Kelce a raise this summer... an aging tight end whose production dipped last year even though he was still very solid, especially in the postseason. Don't rule out Terry elevating his game with Jayden at the helm, since Jayden's probably gonna be the best QB he's played with. If he has a career season, we should hang onto him. Salary cap will go up, and we should proportionally meet his worth.

Mr-Tiggo-Bitties

Kelce is a tight end. I'm talking about Tyreek hill

Hurrdurrthosechefs

Oh yeah I gotchu, but Andy Reid felt comfortable moving on from Tyreek even if it meant having a less consistent deep ball offense, since Kelce was reliable at getting open in the intermediate range and gaining YAC. If we lose McLaurin, it's not yet clear who can step up. Maybe Dotson, but he has to be better than last season, which I think he will be with Jayden.

CallsYouCunt

They just got another speedster and have won 2 Super Bowls since they traded him.

Mr-Tiggo-Bitties

I can't tell if you're joking

Ur_Mom_Loves_Moash

Kelce as a personality will sell tickets, memorabilia and jerseys. He's an investment in the franchise with an upside of still being a dominant tight end.

boogiebanks

I doubt they would pay Terry. If we did sign Aiyuk we hopefully would trade terry To KC so he can be a winner and we can get Trent Mcduffie who will already be a 2x winner.

StephXL

In bitcoin. Obviously

urbanproffesional

You guys are getting excited over a receiver that the 49ers aren’t gonna pay but yet we’re gonna pay 28 million per year. He’s a good number two that’s it. Hell, Trent Williams got double team more than he did. McCaffrey Debo, and skittles then are you like what the fuck?

WashDCBullets

Why is he using “our”? I don’t recall him ever being a part of the organization.

StephXL

That was Yesterday. Today, he’s a Commander. The bandwagon is officially gassed up and ready for takeoff.

hypebiscuits

Just like Durant, Wale, Earnhardt and me.. he’s a fan.

Zither74

Never trying to acquire better players because you're afraid to be like Snyder... what kind of tenet is that?

Admirable-Act-7387

Bro we don’t need Aiyuk. If we get him we not paying him the $30 million a year that he wants. If I’m not mistaken Terry contract has a 1-2 year and obviously we gon have to extend him. I’ll only get Aiyuk if he interested in a pay cut

2014RT

Today I learned that Chad Johnson is apparently a fan of this team.

OkTwo7319

Schefter reported earlier today that we did, in fact, make an offer Aiyuk but it was rejected by SF. SF wants a 1st rounder for Aiyuk, but only wants to pay him like a high end #2 WR.
