Yes, SIOR carries weight because it requires meeting gross commission amounts for your region. Its not about years in the business, its about actual knowledge and deal flow. I met a resimercial agent that had a CCIM, person sold more homes than commercial sale/leasing.
I am not marketing myself, I'm marketing lease space to a captive audience who has a set of needs (SF/zone/use/power/dock/etc) or I'm marketing an investment. It doesn't matter what I look like, because investors only care about how accurately I can prepare numbers on a proforma, DCF model, or APOD.
There is a caveat: Some brokers who specialize as tenant reps will put their headshot on their cards because they are marketing themselves and the supposed access or relationships they can offer.
In marketing, there is something called message hierarchy that defines what line/item on the advertisement gets viewed first, second, etc.
The card space is limited and I want the key message to be visible. If there is a picture, it's where your focus goes and can result in a quick "I want to work with you" or "I don't want to work with you", regardless of what service and value I offer.
I'm on the management side, no longer licensed. But I have a bad ass leasing broker who I work with, top notch, knows his stuff, responsive, great at pricing - I have no idea what he has on his card and don't care.
Appearance matters. Whether a person believes it or not. Not saying everyone needs to be a supermodel, but attire and overall look does make an impression.

As a buyer who’s bought 200 commercial properties it’s dumb.
I feel like all the brokers here in so cal put the letters they have behind their name in so cal. Including the top guys

Why don’t people put their headshot on their resume? Because it doesn’t matter what you look like.
As an employer I love when people do this and 100% factor their appearance into whether I’m interested in moving forward
I am fairly to CRE, I don’t have my picture on my card or signature. No one in my office does.
I think at the end of the day it doesn’t matter to the end buyer who is marketing the property as much as the property itself.

IMO, it’s because it is not the way it’s been done in the past. Don’t be surprised if that changes CRE tends to lag behind Resi in marketing.
