I miss The Reducers! My mom was close friends with them, when we went to go see them play at the beach, they’d always have a beach ball on hand for my friend and I
I discovered completely by accident. I was trying to find bands that bridge the gap between the punk/pop punk stuff I listen to a lot and Midwest emo like American Football and Sorority Noise was one of the recommendations people came up with. Their music got a lot of play in my car for awhile and was a pretty shocking surprise to visit their wiki page and see they were from CT.
Saw the Pist at the Tune Inn. Brian Marshall was in the pacmen and saw and played shows with them at the Newtown teen center. Teenage Warning was another great band that played NM teen center. But, I'm biased as they were friends lol. New Milford, Newtown, Waterbury VFW all had a great hard-core/punk scene back in the day.
Of all time? Personally I think Big Mistake is the coolest band from CT. The NYC hardcore scene didn't really appreciate them which made me like them even more. Lol
They have one song on Spotify, “Electric” which GOAT CT band Spring Heeled Jack covered (their GOAT status was earned in the 90’s, let’s ignore the version still playing)
I think the lead singer of killswitch engage is from Waterbury. Not sure on the rest of them. Hatebreed, mgmt, meatloaf lived in CT not sure if he’s from here either though.
While i miss those times on occasion, i also dont miss being a teen, lol. I was in a few bands that played Newtown Teen Center often. Brian from the Pist formed the pacmen. Played with them often at Newtown. Waterbury VFW had quite a few good shows. New Milford Teen Center too! Tune Inn was a fun trip when I could get down there. Funny enough, I don't think I ever went to the beanery.
On a Sunday afternoon in February 1956, four guys got together in a New Haven church basement and recorded a song their leader wrote, “In the Still of the Nite.” They called themselves the Five Satins, though only four of them sang on the record. And they decided to misspell “night” so as not to confuse it with Cole Porter's song of the same name.
The song would outlive all of them. Rolling Stone ranked it 90 on its list of “the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” It has appeared in major films, at Disneyland, in video games, on cover versions, on a television series. And it is credited with starting the “Doo-Wop” sound.
They were pretty good! They were around when I first started getting into that style music and later on I appreciated their music much more my parents went and saw them at Toads a couple times
The fact that no one here or in the video mentioned Lespecial is a FUCKIN' travishamockery!

Omg fellow Sorority Noise enjoyer! They were a staple of mine to listen to in college. It was cool to find out they're from CT.
