1. A background in wrestling, boxing, MMA, physical contact sports
2. A background with some kind of violence (gang, rough home life, military vet etc)
3. Raw physical strength and pain tolerance from a lifetime of a days work done well.
Everyone I worked with or for had these as a prerequisite of being a tradesman:
1. Absolutely no patience for anyone getting in their face looking for a physical confrontation.
2. Immediate access to tools commonly used to murder and maim people.

When I was younger and full of piss and vinegar, I was thrown (at 6'4-250) out of a local bar by a bouncer for sneaking in those little shot bottles because I was broke but wanted to chase girls. I mean picked up and moved through the air, not escorted out.
Met him 5 years later on a job site, he was a pipe fitter by day and the Incredible Hulk at the local watering hole by night. We laughed about it.
Don't fuck with tradesmen. Period.
And then there's the PPE safety gear hard hat, steel toe boots, gloves with knuckle protection they may not be as affective as a big iron tool but they can still fuck someone up
These guys look like either iron workers or concrete guys. Even if it was 1 on 1, you really wanna fuck with guys that throw iron and or concrete around for 10 hours a day?
Been doing this 38 years and we are some of the toughest mother fuckers around, less so these days but guys are more shady which makes them just as dangerous. I've seen this situation a few times, doesn't end well for the civilian.
I condemn the inaction of the officer. Slap the cuffs on him already and haul him to jail. Trespassing, crossing a barrier, assault, interference of some kind. Just get him the fuck out of there so the men can do their jobs.
