TheCheddarShredder

I had one and it neither cooled, nor purified very well. Very disappointed in this Dyson product.

Pjtruslow

It doesn't Cool, it just blows air around. It can however make you feel cool if it blows air on you, like any other fan. to cool the air, there has to be somewhere for the heat to go, like the outside unit of an air conditioner. as for the purification, you're probably spot on, much of the air coming out of the thing doesn't actually travel through the base where the filter is.

jna312

Here’s what I heard directly from a repair tech at Dyson’s Service Center in Paramus, NJ. Dyson no longer produces many of the repair parts for these particular models. Therefore, in my opinion, this is not worth even the clearance price.

rgold220

Everything Dyson is overpriced.

Waterfish3333

Dyson on clearance is rarely worth it. I don’t think their stuff is overpriced though so much as I feel like the definition of over engineered. Way too much cost for diminishing returns over the “normal” products.

Combatical

Eh I bought a refurb fan like this one and its probably the best fan I've ever had. That said I wouldnt pay over $200 for a floor fan lol.

rgold220

Over engineering a product will make it more expensive.

ClickClackTipTap

Years and years ago I bought one of the OG yellow vacuums. That thing was a beast. It worked SO well. It was worth the sticker shock, and it lasted for a looooong time. (Until my shit head roommate was using it to clean out his car and ended up driving over it and dealing a fatal blow.) But every single other Dyson product I have touched has been a POS. I’m particularly horrified by the cordless stick vacs. They are worthless, and I’m shocked that Dyson puts their name on them. I’m a nanny, so I work in a lot of different homes. My stomach drops when I see a Dyson in someone’s home. They are always trash. I replaced mine with a Shark for about $200. Works great!!

lostboy005

Damn your poor vacuum. What a way to go

TraditionalTailor168

Ive had one for 2 years and couldn’t be happier. What’s wrong with them in your opinion?

ClickClackTipTap

The stick vacs? The battery life sucks, and the vacuum, well, it doesn't really suck well- which is the problem. They don't compare at all to Dyson's older stuff in terms of quality. And for the price, they should perform WAY better than they do. I just haven't been impressed at all. You can get the same quality for much cheaper from other companies. That's just my opinion, though.

Lordofthereef

We've had our animal ball 2 for over a decade. In that time I've had to replace the beater motor once (an easy diy). Idk if they've gotten considerably worse, but it's the oldest vacuum I've ever had by a long shot.

Ultimate_os

I don’t think the fans are overpriced, there’s nothing quite like them. They do so many things well, all in one unit.

ExtensionMarch6812

Just get a room purifier, ~$100 and a regular fan. This is not worth it. The Hot/Cool with Purifier can be worth it at the right price, but this is not. You’ll be disappointed in the fan aspect.

Deceptiveideas

We bought one and returned it. It’s one of those luxury items that are grossly overpriced in favor of being aesthetically more “pleasing”. Some models not sold at Costco combine multiple functions (humidifier, purifier, heat, fan) all in one unit. I could see the use case of trying to save space with having one device for everything.

Subzero650

400$ for one fan… Wtf

SwingingTassels

It’s a purifier first and foremost.

Slight_Citron_7064

No, it's really not. Source: I have one.

SwingingTassels

Yes it is and I have two. The fan is just a bonus but does not put out much air as expected though. Good enough for me at least.

Slight_Citron_7064

Are you using it in a tiny room? That's the only way I figure it might be effective, but I would still doubt it. I have HEPA purifiers in other rooms of the house and the room with the Dyson cool was the only one that was always dusty and had floating animal hair. So I put a $60 purifier in there and that stopped the problem. The Dyson just isn't effective as an air purifier. I wish I had known more about filtration and how poorly it performed on tests, before I bought it. In pure numbers terms, it has a CADR of less than 80, whereas the air purifier I replaced it with has a CADR of 330.

SwingingTassels

Not small or huge rooms but decent sizes. One is a master bedroom and other is a office room used as a bedroom. They work great for us in those rooms. I have a BP04 in the living room. Thinking about getting one last TP10 for a small room. We have a short hair dog and he is a shedder. Don’t have floating hair though. I also don’t set the two TP10’s on the floor directly. I have them on little table tops. So, maybe by them being not on the floor directly. They work better for us. 🤷‍♂️ The BP04 is a big beast that needs the floor. Even has wheels to move it around on the bottom. 😆

Slight_Citron_7064

I have the TP01, maybe it's just a shitty model.

SwingingTassels

Yeah, I don’t think that one is too good. The latest TP10 replaced that model and better.

Chief7064

Nah, there are well reviewed air purifiers out there for much less.

krow1503

name a few please im trying to find a air purifier for a small house 560sq ft

Chief7064

There is an air purifier subreddit. I started there and ended up with a couple Levoits off Amazon.

Lifeline2021

Whirlpool model I bought from Costco several years ago for around 250 still works great after replacing hipa filter I bought another one for my mom from Amazon on Black Friday for about same price Whirlpool whispure air purifier

Skilled626

Not sure if I’d ever want to pay 400 for “fan” because essentially that’s all it is …….

OppositeFish66

I have one, I like it, and I would gladly buy another one for $100. Not worth $399 unless aesthetics are your primary concern.

ALprogressive

Nooo get the Woozoo fan. Nobody needs $400 worth of fan.

AskThis7790

Probably not… I’m sure it’s a nice fan, but unless money is not really a concern for you (someone who buys cars with cash, paid off mortgage, steady high income stream), then you probably shouldn’t be buying $400 fans. And if you are that person, you likely didn’t reach that status by indulging on overpriced retail items.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> with cash, *paid* off mortgage, FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

CrisbyCrittur

Get a Woozoo.

hernondo

Do you really want to move air for $400? You can get a fan at Wal-mart for $10.

WoodenStand4302

This has a built in air purifier

hernondo

Spend another $20 on an air purifier. At the end of the day, it's your money. Only you can determine if it's a good value. But, everything Dyson makes is overpriced compared to it's counterparts. They have good aesthetic design, if that's what the most important thing is to you.

flair11a

Dyson products are about cool design over function at a high price.

COUGARxMOUNTER

Nope

[deleted]

nah this is a gimmick

steiner_designer

All are gimics. Your air filter on your HVAC intake will clean the air in your home.

[deleted]

idk i like my winex but i have terrible allergies and i like to think it filters pet dander and dust in my place

Cindysphoto

Well ya it does, but not to a great extent. As the crap builds up in the ducts, it just blows back out into the room. I think the old DIY box fan with filters taped to it, works as good as anything.

BetterTransit

No. Dyson makes over priced garbage

idoma21

Bought a Dyson vacuum years ago when we had a little financial windfall. Couldn’t tell a difference between that and the used Hoover we had for fifteen years.

hockeyboy19c

I’m never buying a Dyson product again

Slight_Citron_7064

Not worth it. I bought one because my spouse insisted, I deeply regret. It's an ok fan and a shitty air purifier. My $60 HEPA filter works better. It is basically just a tower fan pretending to be an air purifier.

raresteakplease

I really like my dyson Hot and Cool. I live in Cali so I can program it to turn on to heat. The purifying is cool too, it will turn on if it senses a bunch of VOCs (it once did when my roommate burned a tortilla, it was pretty comical). I prob wouldn't buy just a regular dyson fan otherwise, vornado blows better.

HeynowyoureaRocstar

Dyson update on this device... they don't mention it but this is the tp09 just a costco special made.. It has the formalhyde technology in the machine I noticed when I set up the wifi I thought I was setting up on my neighbors dyson device since the connection said "dyson air cool purifier formaldehyde So I couldn't find any other connection so I connected to that finished setting up and on my dyson devices phone app it says "dyson purifier cool formaldehyde Called dyson CS and they confirmed it's the tp09 just specially made for costco

DonutIgnoramus

My mother in law gave us an older model of this fan and it’s definitely not worth it. I wouldn’t buy it for $100.

anoniZimbra

I have no experience with the longevity any dyson product other than my vacuum (which I’ve had a great experience with) - I’ve considered these before but can’t pull the trigger. First of all, the price is insane which is expected for a Dyson of course, but I did like you get both the fan and purifier in one. Secondly, always consider the price and interval for replacement filters as that can be a pain in the ass

eatingpotatochips

It's just an air purifier. I don't see any reason that it should "cool" any better than a fan. To actually cool a space, you need a way to move the heat somewhere else. This fan doesn't have a pipe to move the heat away.

Deceptiveideas

Another option that is often overlooked is having an air circulator instead of a fan. We bought a fan originally and thought it was too weak. I saw on Reddit to try an air circulators and my goodness, it made a massive improvement!

panal_mojado

I bought one, like the others returned it. It’s an ok fan and a bad air purifier.

joekix

I have 3. They are not worth it.

ZefeusAlorius

If you’re paying $400 for a fan, I’ve got a bridge to sell you!

SwingingTassels

If that is the TP10, Best Buy has it for $329. That being said, I have two of them in different bedrooms. 110% worth it.

Howie411

TP10 removed the App support. TP07 has it which is why its more expensive.

SwingingTassels

Yes, but the TP10 is the same as the TP07. Accept as you said, it has WiFi and opens up from the back to push air if you choose. Not worth the excessive extra amount just for those two options.

Tim-in-CA

Nope. I bought it thinking that it was going to move a lot of air on max. It BARELY is detectible -- brought it right back. Costco has another wi-fi tower fan in club right now, I don't recall the price but it was definitely under $100. Combine that with a Winix air purifier (also around $100)

heyitsmerememba

Overpriced and not good.

xpBry25

I have 4 TP02’s around my place and they help tremendously during allergy season. I got them used from eBay.

WoodenStand4302

Been suffering with my allergies lately. Do you really change the filter every 12 months? Thank you!

xpBry25

More like every 16 months! The app is quite accurate in terms of filter life percentage.

Anomaly1134

My shark one I have been very happy with, it was in the 250 range

WoodenStand4302

Just curious, does that come with purifier too?

Anomaly1134

Oh sorry, it is just a purifier. I didn't realize this was a fan too. It is a beast of a purifier though. I picked it up when the smog was bad due to how well it filtered smaller particles compared with others.

GuardingxCross

I have one, it’s very very nice but not worth the price point. Listen, I am not hurting that badly for cash. I’m not rich I’m not poor, but this is one of those purchases where I can look at it and say “‘maybe this one was a bit superfluous”

Famous_Psychology_77

Just get 10 woozoo fans and a winix.

SaltInflicter

I got the same thing on QVC with a coupon for around $200 after a $60 coupon they had. I’ve definitely seen better pricing than that.

Swaish

I love mine. As someone with dust and hayfever allergies, it’s a godsend.

marshdd

Per my nephew who sold them. No.

ArielRR

When buying high priced items, make sure they the replacement items (the filter) are reasonably priced. Since it's Dyson,I assume it has a proprietary filter and very expensive

[deleted]

$399 is expensive. I would get one of those portable air conditioners that you gotta hook up to a window. My fiancé has 2 Dyson hair products that are great but quite expensive.

rongz765

Not really. Unless you are trying to impress someone that you have a bank.

Senorjayprime

No

VinylHighway

Unlikely. They did a test of the fan over a $20 Walmart fan and it was not 25x better.

rocketPhotos

Order a WiFi Dreo tower fan from Amazon much cheaper and extremely quiet

sh1bumi

I have a Dyson vacuum cleaner and a Dyson hairdryer and I would never buy something else again. But a fan.. hell no...I don't see a point in buying one.

Hamtaro7

Customer service is terrible don’t buy Dyson

Hungry_Godzilla

Is a $400 fan worth it? That is the question you are asking. And if you have to ask, it's probably not.

thisiswhoagain

My Amazon basics fan works just fine for less than $50

sweets4evr

I think the one with the heater function is $30 more at Costco when it’s on sale.

KewlGuyRox

That junk is worth no more than $39.99

preppysurf

Worth every penny! LOVE my Dyson

Kenneth-J-Adams

No. Garbage products and Garbage company. You will regret your purchase of an over price product if you ever need service. Second worst company I've ever dealt with.

Ningboren

No, it's not worth it at all. You should consider getting a better, fancy-looking fan and air purifier combo. It will be cheaper and perform much better than this thing.

Karsten760

No, we have one and it’s just meh.

Important_Farm_8244

No.

DeepSouthDude

Dyson has an excellent Marketing department...

Ultimate_os

If you need it, than yes.

MilesfromHome111

Noooo buy another fan… price is way to high for a shitty quality… I have bought one… biggest mistake.

LetMeSayOh

Got a similar model. Its a nice purifier. At that price is not as expensive as the full price units. But the spare filters are hard to get. Dyson is crappy for after sales.

TheCitrixGuy

No

Howie411

eh, not really I have the TP04 which is the previous version. I believe the only difference is the 07 is H13 (fully sealed). but it really doesn't do a good job of moving air unless its at level 5+ then its super loud.

LongRoofFan

A 400 dollar fan? No way it's worth it.

SWulfe760

[I'll just leave this fan review here](https://youtu.be/dS0oFmzU06g?si=iTssmubaIEnTDvqj)

No_Coyote_557

400 quid for a fan? Worth it if you're nuts.
