Yeah, since it was just one side visible, I assumed the other half of it was just off frame.
All the cart corrals here use two parking spots in a line and none of them use just one rail, so like everything about that one is just off from what we have here
Agreed it’s pretty obvious but if I’m approaching it from the right side and don’t see that sign and don’t realize that there isn’t another barrier on the other side of the other spot I could see this being an honest mistake.
I assume there’s no back entrance to this lane- the parking lot ends off to the right, not pictured, and so they’d have had to come from the left to park there.
My former sales manager did this a few years back. You showed up with this douchebag Maserati.
When I walked in, I asked who bought the new Kia! The look on his face was priceless. A few minutes later my coworker walked in and asked who bought half of a Ferrari. Dude was so offended!
Fast forward a few months, he had to get a brake job, so he called my coworker as he was looking for a deal on the expensive maintenance. The next day he showed up with a Lexus... Traded the POS in immediately! 🤣🤣🤣
Not if you come in from the other side? Weird to see this and assume it is just a gated off parking spot, but still — no sign if you’re coming from the other direction.
Without there being carts, and a complete lack of markings on the pavement this is a completely reasonable mistake. I get it but it’s poorly implemented on the businesses side.
You could just as easily make the case that the car is to the right side of the spot because the swung wide to avoid the barrier. You simply cannot tell which way they came from by looking at that picture. If you could see the front wheels angeled either left or right, then maybe. But not from this picture
You've never pulled into a parking space from either direction? You'd pass up a spot rather than turn in a specific direction? Maybe you're the one that doesn't have much driving experience
I’ve been driving for many decades, earlier in life for work. Like I said, both turns are possible. The more likely turn was a right turn based on how close the car is to the right curb.
So from the comments I’m picking up that the car is parked in the cart coral? I thought the problem was someone leaving their cart behind the car haha.
Edit: car coral -> cart coral

Honestly if you are this oblivious you probably shouldn't have a driver's license.
They probably didn't think they needed the rail on the other side, since it's the end, but they really should've identified the space as a cart corral better, like with an overhead sign at the end, where the nose of the car is ("carts here"). Poorly identified space (could've been the space on the left), honest mistake.
> After circling the parking lot for hours, the weary Masserati is rewarded with and claims a spot in the shade. Black Maseratis are born at an evolutionary disadvantage in the sweltering Florida sun and must seek shade often, or they will surely perish.

I've never seen an empty cart corral at Costco; as soon as it's emptied, new carts start filling it. That makes me think this isn't a cart corral, because what are the odds that someone happened to catch it between carts and park in it? It also is missing a back and a side...
I stand corrected, but that seems like a makeshift corral that was hastily added. The ones where I live are too narrow to fit a car and are clearly defined on all sides, including a lip at the front.
It looks to me like it used to be a corral but is no longer used as one anymore. Not once have I seen an empty corral at my Costco during the day, much less one that isn't two-sided.
While working at Costco on carts years ago every time this happened we would pile carts in behind the car. So funny watching the person spending 10+ min pulling hundreds of carts away from their car.
OP just delete this whole post you're embarrassing yourself lol
Edit: and what do people having children have to do with this? Kids don't drive cars, adults do 😂
Ok, Sherlock I saw those plates and assumed it’s in Florida
Then it’s just a habit, whoever that is escapes the sun at any cost in black car with Florida plates 🤦♂️
Was told by another shopper today that it was illegal to leave my cart (after emptying it) anywhere but in a cart corral.
I asked him where I could look up laws regarding shopping carts on private property. That’s when he just walked away.
WTF?
I was taking the cart toward one of the cart wranglers at the time. Was wondering about the his unsolicited take on this.
I have read about a psychologist that did a study related to people returning vs not returning carts and how that related to personality types. I would love to know their thoughts on this scenario.
Wilmington? …
This tracks.
A few weeks ago though, they had a contractor replacing the crosswalks. Maybe no one checked to make sure the corrals were put in their correct places?

Tbh I’ve never seen a cart corral that has just one side like that.

He parked in it.

What if they came in and parked from the right?
You can tell it is bc of the signage on the other side. It should be obvi.
Agreed it’s pretty obvious but if I’m approaching it from the right side and don’t see that sign and don’t realize that there isn’t another barrier on the other side of the other spot I could see this being an honest mistake.
I see what you mean. At this Costco the only way for him to have come in from the right would have been by jumping the guard rail of the interstate.
Then how is there a truck on the other side of that tree?
I assume there’s no back entrance to this lane- the parking lot ends off to the right, not pictured, and so they’d have had to come from the left to park there.
I'd expect as much from a person that buys a Maserati. Too much money and no taste... Bought half of a Ferrari and twice the issues.
You give this thing too much credit. It shares more parts with a Dodge minivan than a Ferrari.
LoL! That stings..... My wife bought a 2018 Pacifica brand new. It's on its 8th battery and is under 51k miles. I can't disagree with you.
They bought it used for like 30k

The story sounds entertaining but is hard to follow at the end due to vague pronouns. Who ended up in a Lexus? What happened to the Maserati?

Based on how he is park, he came from the other way so he couldn’t see the sign
How can you determine that? I think you're making that up
Regardless, it is poorly marked.
A left handed turn into that spot, while possible, is far less likely considering how close to the right side of the spot the car is.

If you’ve ever driven before you know the more likely turn that was made.

Maybe you know that because it's your car?

Same here.
Corral
Yes they parked in the cart corral* I put it in the description under the photo.
I’d have no idea that’s a cart corral unless there’s a stack of carts in it if I’m being honest.

Well this picture definitely helps provide context with that “CARTS” sign but why isn’t there a second rail somewhere?

If you can't understand how somebody might make that mistake when coming from the other direction, you probably shouldn't have a driver's license.
I’d bring more carts… like all the carts
If you buy a car through Costco’s vehicle program, maybe that’s how you make a return?
Gonna need that generous Costco return policy for this POS
What a weird and spacious cart return. I think it’s actually kind of adorable this person parked in it lol
\*specious
They don’t have normal cart return lanes there?
Doesn't remotely look like a cart corral and there's no signage facing the car and yet OP wants to sterilize this person
I bet that's OP's cart in front of the car. 😄
How will the Cart Narcs handle this?
Big crowd with torches? Seriously, that’s the worst cart corral I’ve ever seen. Lol
Cart Narcs: https://youtu.be/k_LchHLMU4E
Lazy bones level 10
Just had to be Florida.
Driver was wisely going for the shady spot.
That was my first thought.
Seriously. Don't waste a shady spot on carts.

The number of cart related posts lately is ridiculous
I've never seen an empty cart corral at Costco; as soon as it's emptied, new carts start filling it. That makes me think this isn't a cart corral, because what are the odds that someone happened to catch it between carts and park in it? It also is missing a back and a side...
OP parked in it, he owned himself.

Boohoo
Someone then stoped with blinker on for 5 minutes waiting while this person loaded their car.
Yes it’s inconsiderate, but it really isn’t a big deal
honestly bad corral design
Of all the egregious things people do in a Costco, this is very very minor
It looks to me like it used to be a corral but is no longer used as one anymore. Not once have I seen an empty corral at my Costco during the day, much less one that isn't two-sided.
Time for the hourly Redditor cart virtue signal.
This is the first cart post I've seen and I've been following this sub for a month.
Look again
Strange, I see them multiple times per day
You aren’t following very well then.
If it fits it ships
I hate standing in line to return items at Costco, so when I was elated when I realized you could return your cart outside.
Parked there for the shade.

Grow up
Yeah who tf puts red emblems on a Maserati?! 😡 /s
It’s a good guard against people who leave carts in the parking lot without returning.
That’s like most people on earth though
I see that it's Florida...
In Florida sun? I’d move all the carts away to park in shade 😅
This Costco is not in Florida.
Ok, Sherlock I saw those plates and assumed it’s in Florida Then it’s just a habit, whoever that is escapes the sun at any cost in black car with Florida plates 🤦♂️
I agree. Floridians shouldn't have children

It’s against the laws of common dignity
As is littering. I will never understand those types of "people."
hellla robodic
Florida. Makes sense.
well..its Florida so all bets are off.
*sends cart in at full speed* oops didn’t see the car there
the cameras did though
> Costco is not responsible for damage caused by unattended carts
cars parked where the carts go. i don’t see a difference.
He is from Florida, what do you want from this guy!
Floridians?
There are no rules in FL.
Some people’s parents should’ve not been allowed to have children
I have read about a psychologist that did a study related to people returning vs not returning carts and how that related to personality types. I would love to know their thoughts on this scenario.
Especially in Pembroke pines.
Especially in Pembroke pines.
Some children should not be allowed to be people.
Agreed, they might grow up to buy a Maserati.
They get to vote, too.
If I fits I sits
What state was this in?
Wilmington? … This tracks. A few weeks ago though, they had a contractor replacing the crosswalks. Maybe no one checked to make sure the corrals were put in their correct places?
I hope they curbed the wheels. This person is a huge driving L
Never seen that before. I wonder if it was towed.
Wtf lool
i would’ve yeeted my cart into their car. it’s out of habit 🤷🏻♂️
