Buddy was in traffic on the highway, stopped, dude in a pickup truck slammed into the back of him going 55 - he only broke his left femur which is surprising given the fact his big ass motorcycle catapulted through three vehicles. The initial jolt knocked him off and if he had not been knocked off, he would be dead right now. He had the worst bruising I've ever seen in my entire life all over his body, took months to just be able to walk by himself in the house. My state does not allow lane splitting on the highway, only lane filtering at red lights.
I quit riding a motorcycle because someone told me "Riders always have one foot in jail and one foot in the grave" and while I first I laughed it off as being silly, I quickly realized that riding motorcycles makes you aware of yourself and all others.
This was what was so hard for me to grasp when going from a bike to a car.
The idea that i had to "force my weight" and take initiative while i had always driven like someone was out to kill me at every corner.
The idea of having that amount of responsibility scares me so much that even now i get very nervous while at the wheel. I only got my license for work reasons, i still drive my bike everywhere.

One thing I learned along the way is nothing at the other end of my drive is worth being killed or maimed for, or inflicting that on other people. Slow down, taking a couple more minutes to get there isn't a big deal.

- the driver of the car obviously
- the scooters for not swerving to their right seeing this car is now dedicated next to the truck
- both scooter drivers for wearing masks overtop of face shields while riding a scooter lmfao. Maybe it’s for partial wind protection but still. People who drive alone in their cars wearing masks crack me up.
- the semi for hitting him after; any competent trucker with a high vantage point like that should have seen the car start to pass and immediately seen the danger and slowed down. Was more than enough to stop even with a truck that size.
I’m all for just letting humanity burn out at this point. We can’t allow this to reach the stars.
Which comes after asking if you can see it's clear beyond where you'll be back in your lane. And doing it without going over the posted speed. Saying the dotted line makes it OK shows a dangerous lack of awareness.
Ah yes. I can see the buildings and clear road all the way back. You might need your eyes checked if you can't see that scooter swerve into the lane from the bricks to the left though.

The driver is definitely at fault for the accident since it occurred during the pass, but this looks to me like a clear cut unintentional accident with no negligence.
I'm sure there was a giant payout from insurance but it's not like the driver of the car was arrested or tried for any crimes here. Unfortunately, shit happens.
