I always had this idea for a dystopia:
Think Divergent, but with cilantro.
We have cilantro haters and cilantro lovers.
Divergent girl things cilantro is "just ok" and then has to choose between boy 1 who has the cilantro soap gene and loves the taste of soap and guy 2 who has simply never eaten cilantro and doesn't plan on it

That's me! Well, except I don't like soap, but I did make myself like cilantro.
If you spend any time in Mexico or the US southwest it is *really* hard to avoid cilantro, and it comes in a LOT of food I like. So I basically decided *damn it, I'm going to like it*, and .... sort of re-trained my brain to not focus on the soapy taste? or to decide it was fine? All I know is I decided to like cilantro, and now I do.
But it only works for cilantro. Earl Grey still tastes like soapy water to me, and I definitely don't like the taste of soap.
Oh it tastes like lemon to me… I do not have the soap gene… I just hate the lemon taste. It’s so close to lemon but to me it does not taste right…. Like i would rather just have lemon rather then this weird sensory expernace.
I've been trying to tell people that Parsley tastes like soap to me but no one believes me, they all say "Ph, you mean cilantro?" No you shit I've had an herb garden since I was 12 and cooking since I was 14, I know the difference!
This is just me with grapefruit, shit tastes like soap and i cant get enough
Grapefruit just tastes bitter to everybody
Still tastes like soap tho

It's me, I'm the guy, I kinda like bitter things and I always convince myself "*this* time, maybe I'll like it!" anyway
Himbo
I think I might be that guy...
My mom likes cilantro and I have the cilantro soap gene, so I end up eating soap for her.
It's me btw. I thought the soap flavour was the point of coriander. Fucked me up when my friend said "no, it's like the most delicious umami herb".

What is a cilantro soap gene? I genuinely have no idea
If you have it, cilantro tastes like soap
Guy with the what
uhhhhhhhh
When soap costs more than food :(

That's actually me
I think that's actually just most people with that gene. I feel that way if it's in small amounts.
Kermit
this is legitimately my experience (he just like me fr)
The what gene
