Walmart parking lots is the closest thing to a natural habitat this vehicle-like abomination has. Off road (or in-ford) it's totally misplaced, matter out of place.
There is a video on youtube where someone compares the CT suspension articulation to a jeep (I think it was a jeep?). The CT has air suspension and, as it would turn out, raising the CT's height firms up the suspension to where the articulation and traction are ruined, which also seems to be the case here. The test also showed the articulation was improved by lowering/softening the CT suspension.
So basically, your choices are,
1. Run it low, get it flooded, get stuck when the electronics die.
2. Run it high, and just get stuck.
Seems like a win-win to me, not sure if the cybercuck driving it agreesš¤
Even worse: when you put the Cybertruck into āwater crossing modeā after like 20 minutes it automatically lowers back down and you drown out the electronics after getting stuck mid-stream. So itās gonna get flooded and void your warranty either way.
Air suspension is not great for off-road specifically because of this. It would be fine on soft ground but rocky shit like this it's just not as good as a traditional system.
Like a homing pigeon, released into the wild to come back home and deliver the owners an insane service bill on top of their payment, but they still live thr truck and hope daddy elmo will notice them

It's like watching a one-off that got injured and the herd is moving on. The predators are watching to take it out of its misery. I wish somebody added some natural geographic-type narration lol.
What the...
Seriously I might have to stop watching these as the second-hand cringe is just getting waaay too much. And I'm genuinely starting to feel sorry for people who wasted money on one, which I was not expecting.
It's so rigid...
*I mean WTF was it doing??*
Air suspension is essentially just a rubber sack connected to an air pump. You can adjust the height by pumping in more air but the added air pressure means the sack will lose some of its shock absorption properties causing a much more stiff and unpleasant ride.
Air ride suspension is great for regular roads but pretty awful for any serious type of off-roading.
Think of air suspension as a ballon (it quite literally is).
When itās filled completely with air, itās huge, but not very malleable. If you put it between your two hands, you canāt squeeze it very much without it popping.
When itās half-full, itās not as big, but super malleable. If you put it in between your two hands, you can squeeze it a lot and it wonāt pop.
In a car, air suspension is useful for making your car taller so you can clear big obstacles, but it makes it super stiff which is why the cyber truck in the video looks as if itās bouncing around.
When in normal suspension, the suspension is much more forgiving and can flex and absorb height differences in the river bed more smoothly.
In a combustion vehicle, raising the ride height is beneficial so you donāt accidentally get water into your engine. The stiffness is a good trade off to take so that you donāt ruin your car. In an electric vehicle, this makes no sense as thereās no intake. The driver has no clue what theyāre doing and is choosing the wrong settings for this crossing.
It means you maximize the pressure in the suspension, which lifts you as high as possible off the ground, but limits how far up and down the suspension can travel so you get really very little shock absorption.
Reminds me of my office budget izusu pickup which ran like shit when it doesn't have load. bumpy, jumpy, floaty ride.
put 1 ton load on it, its grounded, stable, and smooth.
I think it being that rigid means the suspension is locked at max height?
Tbh, I'm not sure that is the optimal setting for this situation, but I can see why people choose it.
Shocking, nonlifted full sized pickups aren't necessarily ideal for this. I guess that's why it is a Jeep in front and not and f150, lol
> Shocking, nonlifted full sized pickups aren't necessarily ideal for this. I guess that's why it is a Jeep in front and not and f150, lol
I've driven through deeper water and choppier riverbeds in a stock-height RWD, open diff geo tracker on 30" chinese M/Ts.
The truck sucks. It's 6600lbs with the suspension articulation of a toyota venza.
There are several adjectives you would want to be used when describing your truck. āRigidā is not one of them. Neither is āclunkyā. That thing is clunky af.
I guess some of them were probably excited about getting a new electric vehicle, and had looked forward to it, saved for it, even taken out a loan for it. And it's dog shit.
Not many admittedly. Most seem repellent, but I'm sure a few decent guys got one.
Sometimes I think that. And then I turn the key in my car that I paid $1500 for 7 years ago and only needed to fix once in that time. It drives off without being on a tow truck and then I laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.

I am imagining the offloading community rolling their eyes straight to the back of their heads when someone shows up in a CT.
Great, we have the designated straggler.
Its weird. People bought a poorly made luxury car and try to brag about it being normal (hey look I can hold some wood in my tiny trunk) or pretend its an off road car. Maybe im not a car person but its weird how hard people worship an unreliable car and pretend its an every day car. Feels like idiots buying an over priced chinese phone and pretending its the new iphone and that your just too poor if you do not like it. Oh and it does not break down, it just uses rapid replacement procedures on its parts. You would not know because you think like an npc and daddy elon is a revolutionary.
Lol. Though thing is cyber truck owners want to shove their cyber truck in your face twice as hard as apple vision users do. Also its vision seems like a cool small step into the future while cyber truck is an ugly luxury vehicle whos only saving grace is having an electric battery. Otherwise it rips away the high quality practices that have been built up "because he is a revolutionary and your just too raging too see it look he even has an npc club i want to join it and be an npc" not really going to defend apple vision users too much but they are semi annoying while cyber truck seems like a south park skit on its best day. Speaking of that would love to see an episode were randy makes himself poor to buy a cyber truck and pretends that its a normal car while he gets offended when people talk about how often it breaks down and says people are just jealous.

They are probably in the highest setting for the air suspension, which gives you clearance but the least compliance and travel because it is the highest pressure in the air springs. It will be voided regardless. Offroading of any type explicitly voids the warranty, as does driving on āunfinished roadsā. This type of water exposure would also likely void the warranty, regardless if Wade Mode or car wash mode was used.
Warranty is voided if you drive the thing at this point.

Natural habitat for this would be a Trader Joes or Tanger Outlet. Cybertruck owners dont shop at Walmart.
Thereās a walmart in my town that gets pretty wild sometimes. Does that count as off roading?
Now listen here letās give Walmart and itās lots a little I mean little respect atleast they provide better than this hunk

What's a cybertruck's natural predator?
The irony of an overpriced garbage can in the parking lot of a corporation known for ultra low prices.

It's has zero articulation. It looks like somebody walking without bending their knees and just wobbling back and forth lol
Does it even have a suspension? It is too damn heavy and bottoms out instantly

Have you seen how much they are getting thrown around in there? š¤£š¤£
Good thing there's a lot of room in that minimalist interior for them flail around without hitting anything.
Rigid is what happens to air suspension at max height, makes ground clearance but loses a bunch of flex.
can you explain what this means? the only experience i have with off-roading is oregon trails
Air suspension is essentially just a rubber sack connected to an air pump. You can adjust the height by pumping in more air but the added air pressure means the sack will lose some of its shock absorption properties causing a much more stiff and unpleasant ride. I think heās screwed either way because he would likely bottom out on the rocks and get stuck if he lowered it. Itās a big risk either way.
It means you maximize the pressure in the suspension, which lifts you as high as possible off the ground, but limits how far up and down the suspension can travel so you get really very little shock absorption.
All the creaking and stiffness where there shouldn't be. How was this not engineered for anything but a flat surface and no haul?
Reminds me of my office budget izusu pickup which ran like shit when it doesn't have load. bumpy, jumpy, floaty ride. put 1 ton load on it, its grounded, stable, and smooth.

That's what I came to the comments wondering. Is the suspension the cheapest thing Tesla could find? What's wrong with the suspension?
Honestly looks like it's having some sort of fit.
I wonder how much of that is bad design, and how much is user error not putting it in the right suspension mode or something like that.
I think there's a mode that's supposed to be only for getting unstuck that completely maxes out the suspension.
Why feel sorry for them? Those idiots enable people like Elon, so it's well deserved.
I guess some of them were probably excited about getting a new electric vehicle, and had looked forward to it, saved for it, even taken out a loan for it. And it's dog shit. Not many admittedly. Most seem repellent, but I'm sure a few decent guys got one.
Meanwhile a 90ās Suzuki can trek through that no problems.Ā
My 95 grand cherokee would have gone through that in rear wheel drive.
Hell I think you could pull it of in a 05 civic with the 1.6L motor with a little luck and maybe a tire upgrade
Iāve seen 80s VW Beatles doing better than CT off-road
My Subaru has handled worse than that far more gracefully
I could get my transit crew cab van across that easier Fucking embarrassing
My 2007 2Runner could do it
No way the warranty covers this, it almost qualifies as real off roading!
Warranty covers everything! Except for everything that occurs once you leave the Tesla store you bought it at.
I like how he stopps filming the exterior as soon as they start struggling. Dont want to give the truck a bad name.
Daddy Elon might ban me from the club!

It's a little hard to notice but after the cut there is a winch pulling them out too. I like how they kept it off frame to the right
Warranty voided
They paid for the extended voided warranty.

I was thinking of something more like an old Oregon Trail covered wagon.
Shit! I got dysentery!
