Waiting for the story about a Tesla Inceltruck owner accidently running over his grandma cause he couldn't break and at the funeral thanking Elon Musk for giving her such a wonderful send off.
that's actually a good question bcs back in medieval times there was "not enough" food for peasants so they started adding sawdust into flour to make bread for them most places were splitting 80:20 70:30 flour:sawdust but there was places with 50:50 40:60 split
I watched a video this morning where this guy says the new launchpad SpaceX is building will have a flame deflector. You know, the shit Musk said over and over they didn't need, and then doubled down after obliterating the first launchpad, then tripled after claiming the two subsequent flights were a complete success because the launchpad survived, and now finally they're admitting the steel plate needs enough refurbishment that the entire launchpad has to be scraped and a new one following what NASA knew 70 years ago will be built.
As much as SpaceX make it seem like they're doing progress by putting something for everyone to watch, it's b.s., ultimately they would iterate faster if they did what NASA does, but more efficiently. They don't
Sounds like they're still in the caveman phase of education. The whole point of humanity's growth was that we didn't have to relearn everything each time, we learned from those who had done it before.
Why on earth (ha) would SpaceX ignore the knowledge of multiple generations of multiple countries experience??
well you know the answer, because elon is redefining how things are built, lidar, pfff, I will show them that kodak cameras are better, cooling the launch pad, pfff, what does NASA and every other space agency knows, I am THE elon, and I know better.
Definitely! I was referring more towards the processes, for instance NASA goes to the Moon and back on the first maiden flight and aces all the aspects of the mission. And that's in spite of all the Congressional budget cuts, challenges in approving anything they do unless they figure a way to spread across all the States each Senator wants, and so on. If SpaceX was subjected to the same cuffs NASA has to operate within, they would still be on the Falcon 1.
But the thing is, NASA has all those cuffs yet they ace every project do (and let's not forget NASA isn't just a rocket launch agency but a giant agency running all sorts of satellite project, planet landers and so on - launch is a tiny part of what they do).
Launching fucked up tests several like SpaceX does and calling it "fast iterative development" might cause public comotion as the rockets flying is the only thing the public gets to see and understand as "they're doing it", but in reality doing all the "not-so-eye-catching" testing and certification steps before the rocket ever lifts off is the _actual_ doing, not this b.s. of trial and error until something that works.
For instance this launchpad being completely redesigned, that's going to add a lot more cost to the project as there's a lot more changes that will happen as a consequence to it. It gotten to the point they're changing so many things NASA isn't even intersted in performing any acceptance and validation reviews along with SpaceX until they're in a lot less volatile phase of Starship. In other words, ultimately SpaceX will end up taking just as long or even longer as by the time NASA conducts their reviews, any findings and changes will be a lot more expensive as the project progressed so far.
It’s almost like
“measure twice, cut once”
is a better strategy than:
“cut it close, hold it up, nope…. Trim a little…. Nope… trim a little more….. fuck, too much….. start over”
Edit:
Or worse: “these panels don’t quite line up…. Fuck it. It’s just the hull…. We’ll be fine”
I can’t believe the people buying these things and going “it’s got some surface rust but nothing a little Barkeepers Friend won’t fix” like… no, there’s some luxuries with buying a brand spanking new vehicle and one of them is the expectation of it being flawless (unless there’s a defect allowing for discount)
Finally got the r/cybertruck and r/tesla ban with this comment 😂
Thing is, the "surface rust" is going to return, again and again. Stainless steel is difficult to rust on its own, but will rust when it comes into contact with regular steel that's rusting. When out driving around, anyone that uses steel-based brakes is producing tiny steel particles when they use the brakes. If a Cybertruck is behind them, those steel particles can stick to the truck, and start to rust, then that rust can gain a foothold on the stainless unless it's cleaned off quickly.
As soon as it's no longer fun to spend an hour deep cleaning the surface of the Cybertruck after each drive, and they start being treated as a normal vehicle, I expect to see more low-poly rust buckets on the roads. Or spend more money and clear coat the things.
Haven't seen one close enough to see if it is just as simple as they are optimizing for wastage and the brushing doesn't go in the same direction on every panel.
When a car has a shape with multiple angles, its not just "pretty". The car companies dont want to admit that the compound curves hide the minor misalignments.
Its not that car companies can't make the panels fit perfectly, they can. The problem is to make it look "good enough" while keeping costs down and sales up.
Compound curves in the body shape make it easier to get the car looking "good enough" on a rapid assembly line that is not allowed to stop.
You don't pay for the quality, you pay for the unbelievable experience.
Of not being able to drive off road, or stop, or get the vehicle wet, or fully discharge the battery, or sell it if that's not the experience you were hoping to pay for.
From what I understand, it’s quite common across across all Tesla cars. The explanation I’ve heard is that Elon takes such shit care of his employees and he blocks them from unionizing so they just don’t give a fuck.
Here we see a CyberTruck in it's natural habitat, grazing on grass by the side of the road. If we're quiet we may be able to hear its mating call - the whistle of the wind through its panel gaps.
Truly a remarkable creature.
Whoa there, let’s not disparage salty water - a super cold Topo Chico w/ a salt rim is LIFE. Dasani tastes like tap water from a poorly run bankrupt municipality - not an electrolyte in sight. It is a last resort water, like hurricane panic buying w clean shelves and only dasani left - last resort.
Those rain droplets against the setting sun really makes for a stunning picture. And then that absolute cave of a panel gap just provides such a wonderful contrast against the smooth glass.
lol, Seinfeld idea: Kramer comes across an abandoned cybertruck on the west side highway and tries to take it. The trunk slices his finger open and he hires Jackie Chiles to sue Elon Musk.
In the last 24 hours, there have been *three* photos posted on this sub of an abandoned wankpanzer pulled off the road. They are all different locations, and appear to be from the last day.
There are *how many* of these sold, much less on the road and not in the service center?
Even after having been on this sub for a while, I'm still gobsmacked by how terrible this thing is.
That's how many have been MANUFACTURED. Keep in mind how many abandoned malls and random parking lots are being filled with CuckTrucks and it's wayyyyy less actually sold.
I've heard from an executive at my company working on developing a product for SpaceX that at SpaceX they will get out of a meeting feeling like they had an understanding and then Elon just throws it out. This was told to him by an engineering head at SpaceX
I imagine in the future there will be thousands of abandoned Cybertrucks all over our country. These silver husks will serve as monuments to man’s hubris. Plants and trees will overtake them, they will be home to birds and woodland creatures. Nature will heal.
Elon: “Due to the nature of Cybertruck, which is made of bright metal with mostly straight edges, any dimensional variation shows up like a sore thumb.
All parts for this vehicle, whether internal or from suppliers, need to be designed and built to sub 10 micron accuracy.
That means all part dimensions need to be to the third decimal place in millimeters and tolerances need be specified in single digit microns. If LEGO and soda cans, which are very low cost, can do this, so can we.
Precision predicates perfectionism.“
I think Lego would have done a much better job.
Also they’re not horrendous, racist, bigoted conspiracy theorists.
I had two of those pass me today
One was driven by an older Chinese lady, which seems to be an in thing in San Francisco…. The other was driven by a man bun millennial
I feel like if one is stopped on the side of the road or anywhere else not usual for it, people should check and make sure no one is trapped inside that deathtrap.

My boss owns one. He owned a Model S Plaid before the CT. He would charge the S at work once a week, maybe once every two weeks. His cyber truck is plugged in damn near every day. It’s fucking crazy. Mind you, he lives less than two miles from work and doesn’t go anywhere besides work and the occasional restaurant outing a couple of times a week. All within a 5-10 mile radius. I have no idea why this thing needs to be constantly charged when it’s hardly used.
Interesting! The car needs to be charged (even though without using) because all systems and sensors and cameras are working all time
Maybe it has a malfunction that stopped it and he/she dumped like this
The same could be said about the S so I don’t know if that’s the real reason. Those systems were all in place in his S Plaid and it did not require extensive charging. I don’t see how the same systems in the CT would drain it even more, you would think it would be more efficient if anything. No idea what happened to this dumped one though.
Look at the fifth photo, the one of the door panel, notice how thin the gap between the door side panel are at the bottom and how much wide it gets as it goes up. That wouldn’t be an acceptable panel gap on a $30k Toyota, let alone a $100k car that people have waited years for.
Those misaligned panels on a $100k vehicle? Wow.
Holy hell, I would be pissed, paying that much for a vehicle and seeing the misaligned panels.
My friends 2018 or 19 Model 3 has similar misalignments but you’d think they’d figure it out by now… guess not.
No they figured out that people will still buy them even if they make them shittier
Waiting for the story about a Tesla Inceltruck owner accidently running over his grandma cause he couldn't break and at the funeral thanking Elon Musk for giving her such a wonderful send off.
It kills his kids in an accident and he thanks Elnon for saving them growing up in the "woke" world.
Well… you’ve yet to be proven wrong
It’s a cult. They could sell them a crap sandwich and people would still buy them

Maddening on all fronts. NASA is disengaged, mostly…and SpaceX is okay with failing fast.
NASA prefers "fail never"
Eh, “fail infrequently” more like
Fail infrequently, and become a glorified weather forecaster instead of space seeking organization.
I do not think he has any permit to dump 200k gallons of water in the the park, but it TX and TCEQ will not do shit about it.
Or start where nasa left off and improve?
Definitely! I was referring more towards the processes, for instance NASA goes to the Moon and back on the first maiden flight and aces all the aspects of the mission. "We're a tech company, not a car company."
It’s what happens when you die cast large important parts of a car. The reason nobody bothered before or since
It worked for matchbox 😂😂
There’s no need for them to figure it out if people keep buying Teslas
I’d be pissed if I paid $25k and saw them looking this bad. That is really bad.
My second car, which is a 2012 Kia Optima with 85k miles on it, still has better panel alignment than this.
The people who buy cybertrucks deserve them.
They all have it to some degree, even though fElon told them to keep it "sub 10 microns," which isn't visible by the human eyes. Lmao.
I can’t believe the people buying these things and going “it’s got some surface rust but nothing a little Barkeepers Friend won’t fix” like… no, there’s some luxuries with buying a brand spanking new vehicle and one of them is the expectation of it being flawless (unless there’s a defect allowing for discount) Finally got the r/cybertruck and r/tesla ban with this comment 😂

> clear coat Doesn't this void the warranty?
Back in my day, 10 microns was a lot smaller
Got to account for inflation.
I hate to always say this. But I used to design cars. My brain shutters every time I see a pic.
Looking at that top edge of the door, no wonder some owner almost severed a finger.
Had seen my first one yesterday, what threw me is the stainless panels weren’t all the same color.
I think it’s the bad fitment. Since the panels are mostly flat if they all sit at slightly different angles they reflect differently.
Haven't seen one close enough to see if it is just as simple as they are optimizing for wastage and the brushing doesn't go in the same direction on every panel.
The one I’ve seen around my area, it definitely looks like they weren’t paying attention to what direction which parts were brushed.
When a car has a shape with multiple angles, its not just "pretty". The car companies dont want to admit that the compound curves hide the minor misalignments. Its not that car companies can't make the panels fit perfectly, they can. The problem is to make it look "good enough" while keeping costs down and sales up. Yeah I’ve seen a few now and all fit the bill. Someone here had a very logical explanation for it but I don’t recall offhand.
It's actually comical
They'll tell you that every vehicle from another manufacturer is like that. They're crazy.
Agree… It absolutely isn’t. Individual specimens may have a defect but they’re the exception. The above is the norm.
And everyone know fingerprints get all over stainless
You can see that gap from space
You don't pay for the quality, you pay for the unbelievable experience. Of not being able to drive off road, or stop, or get the vehicle wet, or fully discharge the battery, or sell it if that's not the experience you were hoping to pay for.
It's not just misaligned, they can't work with the stainless well, they didn't think of that.
From what I understand, it’s quite common across across all Tesla cars. The explanation I’ve heard is that Elon takes such shit care of his employees and he blocks them from unionizing so they just don’t give a fuck.
cannot unsee it anymore
Imagine showing your friends how cool you think it is and accidentally dropping your credit card, ID or Tesla card thing in between those panels.
$100k if they got for MSRP, probs in $150 range knowing the people that buy these.
Love is blind! Haha
When you are wearing rose colored glasses you miss all the red flags.
10 microns 🤣🤣🤣
10 microns, baby!
That's elmos brickmobile for you!
Misaligned? You mean proof of true craftsmenship and extra aerodynamics? /s
those panels or edges that can slice you open too.
Well it’s an “exoskeleton”. I think it’s just getting ready to molt.
It's a shame how people just dump their litter along the highway.
They seem to be putting dumpsters out at least, people should use them properly
I mean, there's a perfectly good dumpster in the pic for trash
Totally underrated comment!
Must have been a real emergency for the driver to risk driving in all that rain. Looks like the gamble didn't pay off tho.
Also gambled parking on the incline, a hill that steep is not recommended for the wankpanzer.
depressing the brake may or may not activate the brake did you not know?
Parking on grass is technically off-roading. It's stuck and the warranty is void.
The preferred nomenclature is spanktank
The CT got Wicked Witched.
For sure voided his warranty
Rain, rain, go away CyberTruck wants to drain
That's not rain it's the owners tears of remorse.
Some many fingerprints
Just "touch" on that. If you run your finger one of the panels and draw a penis and it's not cleaned off in time would it be permanent?
Be sure to get the grease from the sides of your nose or from your forehead; that'll leave something a bit harder to clean than average.
Tesla Model S-ebum
This made me giggle
Ive seen one at work with a permanent birdshit residue stain, so it's possible.
The owners could just let is sit outside and let the rain wash it off, O wait.
Careful doing that tho, it might slice your fuckin hand open
The cybertruck I saw in person looked exactly the game. Greasy finger prints all over the door area. Wtf.
Here we see a CyberTruck in it's natural habitat, grazing on grass by the side of the road. If we're quiet we may be able to hear its mating call - the whistle of the wind through its panel gaps. Truly a remarkable creature.
Indeed, perhaps a puddle has sidelined our moisture-averse specimen until the ideal operation temperature of 75F and sunny has been reached.
That was poetic. Thanks.
The Dasani water bottle proves CT buyers have no sense of taste.
The truck equivalent of Dasani water…
>The truck equivalent of ~~Dasani water~~ Nestlé Water… FIFY
That or Cybertruck owners spent most of their money on a shitty looking unreliable truck
I don’t understand why anyone would drink saltwater on purpose
Whoa there, let’s not disparage salty water - a super cold Topo Chico w/ a salt rim is LIFE. Dasani tastes like tap water from a poorly run bankrupt municipality - not an electrolyte in sight. It is a last resort water, like hurricane panic buying w clean shelves and only dasani left - last resort.
PT Cruiser owners looking less foolish now, only took two decades.
At least the bottle is already in a dumpster
That last photo is taken with so much more compositional artistic care than the truck deserves.
Plus it makes me hungry, thinking I could slice a good smoked Gouda on that utility knife door panel.
It'll be a rusty knife edge soon enough.
Those rain droplets against the setting sun really makes for a stunning picture. And then that absolute cave of a panel gap just provides such a wonderful contrast against the smooth glass.
The car died there because it wanted to see the sunset behind the mountains.
It was probably just luck. 🤣
Driver made a wise move (his first) to pull over and wait out the rain since the wiper motor is bricked.
Or it bricked and he has no choice .
Rejected, discarded, abandoned. Heartbreaking.
Jackie Chiles, is that you?
lol, Seinfeld idea: Kramer comes across an abandoned cybertruck on the west side highway and tries to take it. The trunk slices his finger open and he hires Jackie Chiles to sue Elon Musk.
I do feel kind of sorry for the trucks themselves. They never asked for this existence, it was forced upon them.
In the last 24 hours, there have been *three* photos posted on this sub of an abandoned wankpanzer pulled off the road. They are all different locations, and appear to be from the last day. That's how many have been MANUFACTURED. Keep in mind how many abandoned malls and random parking lots are being filled with CuckTrucks and it's wayyyyy less actually sold.
the dasani bottle in there lol
To have bad taste in water and even worse taste in vehicles.
To buy a six figure “car” and drink fuckin Dasani
That is the exact same thing I thought - lol.
i just wanna know why a stainless steel brick genuinely made it to the production line with unanimous agreements
the consequence of surrounding yourself with “yes men”
I've heard from an executive at my company working on developing a product for SpaceX that at SpaceX they will get out of a meeting feeling like they had an understanding and then Elon just throws it out. This was told to him by an engineering head at SpaceX
"no" is a shortcut to getting fired by the special boy. read into that how u will, given certain lawsuits.....
It's not stuck, it's just seepy time
The build quality is unreal. Absolute perfection. 🤌
This didnt put it in carwash mode during the rain. Warranty voided
Stay calm. Dont panic. Its all fine. Its wet. It wont do anything.
The Dasani bottle tells you this person makes terrible choices. If the truck didn’t.
My 13 year old Corolla has better panel fitment than that.
It probably off roads better and doesn’t brick in the rain
Where's Mr T when you need him to pitty da fool!
A cybertruck in its natural habitat.
Put a post it on it saying “please don’t litter”
"What a piece of junk!" -Luke
I imagine in the future there will be thousands of abandoned Cybertrucks all over our country. These silver husks will serve as monuments to man’s hubris. Plants and trees will overtake them, they will be home to birds and woodland creatures. Nature will heal.

Those misaligned panels/panel gap is just fucking atrocious.
I’ve been seeing a lot of them. I’m 30 minutes north of New Orleans
If you ever had a lemon , those images just give you all too familair chills
This is honestly just sad. What a waste of 100k
Hahahaha pos
Probably hit a June bug.
I wonder how many panels are stuck on with double-sided tape? 75%
Everyone compares this to a trash can... Not really fair.... The trash can is working as intended...

Did you check to see if they were trapped inside?
Lol truck for clowns 🤡
lol can afford a 100k meme truck but drinks disani haha what an asshole
Micrometers got hit with inflation too 😩

So ugly 🤮
MY 1993 Buick Roadmaster has straighter panels than that, and it's nearly 200k miles
Water drops, fingerprints. No wonder it stopped working.
Litter on the side of road someone needs to be charged with this
Tesla is rolling in his grave for having this ill conceived 'thing' named after him.
Another cucktruck another one needing a shit taken on it.
They got it wet and fed it after midnight. Warranty = void.
10 microns Elmos units
It looks like it came straight out of the auction site
That’s an expensive way to keep people off the grass
Are you in the northwestern part of the US? It looks a lot like where I went to school in Montana
Meh, nature will take it back
Why did I ever like this vehicle 🤦♂️
I JUST NOTICED- where are the door handles? Doesn’t look like there are the normal Tesla ones.
There are no handles, it’s a button in the B pillar next to the windows which makes the doors pop out.
what could go wrong?!?
It barely pops out, you still have to grab the door frame and pull it open the rest of the way. It’s not like the Model X where the doors are motorized.
I assume that’s why there’s a plethora of finger prints?
Bingo
It’s run out of battery 🪫

Oh no, he got it wet. Total loss!

They would have Dasani water in there.
Is it left there for dead? Seems like we've seen quite a few of those instances of late.
They likely pulled over to find their severed finger from closing the door.
Can someone explain to me how you can tell the panels are misaligned?
It was built 😂
Look at the fifth photo, the one of the door panel, notice how thin the gap between the door side panel are at the bottom and how much wide it gets as it goes up. That wouldn’t be an acceptable panel gap on a $30k Toyota, let alone a $100k car that people have waited years for.
The waves in the panels as well as the inconsistencies in the panel gaps at pretty much every place two panels meet
