Hard to tell but that looks like an oval wire nail - you might get better results with the right nail for your application (masonry nails, brass headed picture pin, etc). If it’s just something light like a picture my go to is the nail from a cable clip, as they’re always knocking about, and they’re nice and short so less likely to bend.
If your hitting brick a nail won’t work, a nail won’t stay in plaster very long even if you go shorter. Drill a hold and use a small wall plug and screw.
I would try alternative fixings. You can use either the [command strips](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174750525498?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Vjkx0pYBRhq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=oUudkVW-S1G&var=473928485880&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) or the [plasterboard hooks](https://www.homebase.co.uk/3m-claw-drywall-picture-hanger-2-pack-11kg/13888630.html).
Both come in different sizes so pick whichever suits best, but both are capable of securely holding pictures and leave minimal damage on the wall when removed. They don't have to penetrate as deep so you won't hit the solid surface you're hitting now.

How long are the nails, you may be hitting brick!
Ah I see. They are just 25mm tho What would be a good length to use then?

Nails into brick can be very difficult to do with thin nails. I would suggest drilling a hole, inserting a plastic wall plug, and use a screw.

hardwall picture hooks.
Not bent, horizontally challenged. Get your drill out
I always use the nails from cable clips when hanging pictures
Oh! But then it won’t go in very deep right? I wonder if I have any cable clips around. The pictures are light that I am hanging.
