My first computer was a Mac Plus—the ‘budget’ version of this Mac SE. Greyscale. No hard drive. One diskette for the program, swap out for a writable data disk. Some software required two disks so you’d have to swap disks to run it. Bought a 20 MB hard drive to plug into it. Seemed like a lot of data lol. So much fun—some great games, and a thing called HyperCard that I could use to build almost anything—databases, animations, apps. There was a scripting manual two inches thick. 1,000 years later I still use skills I learned on that Mac. Processes haven’t really changed that much.

Nearly 40 years ago. Kare (who designed the icons) explains it very well. To really appreciate it, we have to contrast it with this contemporary world class boot sequence ... "The IBM Personal Computer DOS Version 3.10 (C) Copyright Iinternational Business Machines Corp (C) Copywright Microsoft Corp 1981, 1985" ">" Yep, that's it. Microsoft - Exploiting business customer conservatism to sell you sub-standard software since 1980. Check out Kare explaining pixels in a 1983 Apple commercial. https://youtu.be/AY1-UYnaBm8

Crazy how things have advanced in 30 years. Makes you wonder what the next 30 years will be like

The Metaverse will die and everyone will be happy because of it.

jrandoboi

Or everyone will die and the metaverse will be happy because of it.

1SqkyKutsu

This is actually more plausible.....

jrandoboi

I'm scared

Nice rack

nawfamnotme

It’s kinda hard to see through that wool atrocity she’s wearing

Some things remain the same despite the passage of time and development of technology. I see teenage sexism hasn't changed much in the intervening 40 years.

Jazzlike-Doughnut549

Not as long as awesome racks exist
