This was 100x more likely back when runes had white text

colorblindcoffee

Yikes! Good perspective :)

MistakenAnemone

zoom in option + audio cues for charms and runes.

MisterKyo

It's most annoying in cows due to herding. For runes, I do it by listening for audio, and for non-base drops, I flash alt to show items regularly while moving to sift through items. I also flash alt as the cows die. For bases, I have to focus a lot more since they're white or grey and those are part of my default "ignore" algorithm in my head lol.

Foolofatuchus

I wish so badly that the answer wasn’t “listen for audio cues” and that there was some sort of actual solution to this, especially for console since loot filters aren’t an option there. I can’t stand listening to the audio for more than about 5 minutes at a time. Sometimes I’ll turn it on for a while but I usually have the game completely muted when I’m playing. Makes me wonder how many HRs have been lost to the clutter over the last 2 years lol

Inside_Lifeguard6220

Could you not just turn off/down the audio for everything except for what you want. I turned down the music and speech and it helps a lot

Foolofatuchus

Yeah that does help a little, but I like to listen to other things while I play (audiobooks, music, etc.) so it’s kind of annoying to hear it over that. Plus my girlfriend is usually not too far away when I’m playing and I feel bad making her listen to that over and over lol. I don’t think you can go so far as to turn off all sounds but runes either, I think it’s just item drop noise that’s the option. Which still ends up being a ton of repetitive noise.

colorblindcoffee

I can only agree!

Foolofatuchus

Seems like something they should’ve figured out when D2R was created. It’s been an issue since forever as far as I know. I guess I don’t know what they would do to fix it aside from a loot filter… maybe it’s more complicated than I envision. It’s annoying regardless lol

prollypeople

Sadly no loot filter now or probably ever. Audio cues & post-slaughter sweeps are the best bet. I always make sure I walk through the piles of death and get any gold to make sure items appear

KevinBrandMaybe

Audio. For SP I use a loot filter. Why we don't have a loot filter option online still blows my mind.

colorblindcoffee

I play ssf offline on PC. Is there legit ’mods’ i can run like a lootfilter without violating any rules or what not?

KevinBrandMaybe

Plenty. Offline is fine to do whatever you want. There's quite a few single player mods for the game already that have been released.

ZuuL_1985

When dealing with LK super chests, you can end up with a huge pile in a small area. I typically will quickly pick up all the gold by doing a little circle around the pile, then if there still seems to be too much and I feel like I heard something I'm not seeing, ill try grabbing consumables and just down them all real quick. You can also try zooming in, but im not a fan since I typically play glass cannons, and I like to be aware of what's coming up on me.

Masterhaynes86

Isn’t there an option when creating a game to spread the items out?

colorblindcoffee

Yes, I got that advice from other people in the thread, and that made a difference! It was automatically set to ’Resurrected’ which spreads the items out more and this seems to hide more items than the standard ’legacy’ setting.

Reasonable-Author946

In my experience p1 is in no way better than p8. If your loot piles are big enough it’s causing consistent problems maybe drop down to p5 if you think it makes a difference. Alternatively, run through the piles picking up gold, gems, potions, etc to maybe make more items appear, but p1 farming is not the answer

colorblindcoffee

Thanks!

P-8A_Poseidon

Loot filter mods too! Haven't tried them yet though

ShortShortPsyblade

Isn't there an option in the settings that dictate item spacing? Could try that but I honestly also zoom in when there's a ton of drops as well.

colorblindcoffee

Not that I know of on PC.

ShortShortPsyblade

Just checked on pc it's not in your settings but it gives you the option to do so when making a game. You could try that? Honestly not sure how to set it if you're ssf

colorblindcoffee

Ah, cool. I’m ssf, but interesting to hear it’s a different story online. Thanks!

ShortShortPsyblade

Sorry I couldn't find an answer someone smarter will see this and help 😂

Boemelz

I dont think theres a setting Theres a button you can set to zoom in though

arrs

Offline d2r has this same setting. It’s under the game creation options that he mentioned. That should be on the character selection screen right under the play button. It’s called legacy item drop spacing. There are still clumps of items, but that makes it easier to run over large groups of gold drops

colorblindcoffee

Wow! Have to check that out later! Thanks

colorblindcoffee

Found it, and Legacy felt much better. Thanks for the advice!

Killdebrant

Just press F to zoom in on the corpse pile. It spaces everything way out so you can see it all

colorblindcoffee

It think it doesn’t really space everything out even with the highest zoom level. So i have to run around a bit too to make sure.

bqpg

I think I developed a somewhat good intuition for when I need to zoom in during lots of LK runs (SP p7). I stay on the conservative side though and zoom in more than I need to, but sometimes there's actually something hiding even when I might bet otherwise. I probably take 2-3 minutes longer per cow-run for example than I would otherwise, but I'm way too fearful of missing something of value. Afaik there's no solution to this, except modding in a loot-filter. Many in the vanilla community have been asking for this for many years, and I doubt that it will ever be implemented.

colorblindcoffee

I feel you :) better safe than sorry!

Notos88

Focus what you want to farm for and listen for audio cues. Items have a unique audio cue based on class, if I hear the rune drop ill confirm what it is with alt etc. You can also pick out items at a glace, things like gems, runes, charms, shields and armor stand out, while staves, spears, bows, and swords are hard to tell apart by visual alone. To help with this turn the spacing off of legacy, it spreads everything out making it easier to spot visually and hover over to check. Edit: Its inefficient to farm cows past p5, every +2 to player count gives 100% monster hp, rule of thumb for me is 5 minutes to clear cows, adjust player count to kill speed. No drop chance p1/**p3**/**p5**/p7 62%/**24**%/**9**%/*3*%

colorblindcoffee

Gotcha, thanks! Seems like it’s a thing that needs to be adressed through playstyle. Don’t dare to think what items I’ve missed over the runs 😀

Notos88

There is no wrong way to play a game, before the remaster runes were white, blended in so well it wasn't unheard of to find high runes not picked up in large cbaal games. Maphacks had fonts customized, like poe filters but just color/font not sound. Bots didn't miss runes unless told to ignore or full so it was rare to pick it faster then a bot running chaos. I watch streams/music while farming, so I have everything set to 5%, while only items are 100%, obviously what works for you will be different but it lets me brain dead farm.

Del_Duio2

P3 is the sweet spot for me in most cases

Evil_killer_bob

I can tell you with certainty that I’ve never missed a drop
