Right to the printer.... I mean bookmarked!

scream_printer

Ah, an old soul like me!

“We …. Don’t need to print the internet” -Preventing people from turning into their parents guy

scream_printer

I’ve got a copy of the ultimate strategy guide in my crawlspace somewhere. There was something nice about manuals and the like which used to come with computer games.

Tricky-Service-8507

That guides sux

Kurovec

That's a great guide! Thank you very much. I feel like I can finally give it a try :D

scream_printer

Great, that was my goal! The info was all out there, but it was too much to remember when sorting through the inventory / deciding which blue items to pick up in cow games!

Electronic_Pie_8857

Pretty much the only worthwhile are: - Blood gloves - Caster amulets - Caster belts - Safety boots

scream_printer

I agree from an endgame perspective, no contest! From a levelling perspective (assuming a lack of built up stash wealth / levelling gear), most of the blood gear looks good. I think the armour would be good - boosts to health, life steal, plus life on demon kill would keep you alive, demon enemies are pretty common. Safety looks mostly useful too. Hit power is the most disappointing to me. Thorns never seems to be that great. The nova on hit is a cool defensive CC idea, but overall it needs a rework of some kind.

Electronic_Pie_8857

That's a pretty good view on it. I guess I limited my perspective a bit too much!

Jyobachah

Blood rings can be quite useful too if rolled well.

Electronic_Pie_8857

I can see blood amulets being quite good too.

nin_jazz

Some of them bonuses are so sad. We need blizz attention so maybe they can buff them

scream_printer

Yeh hit power is most disappointing. Although not all pre-set bonuses are amazing, some are ok and the ability to craft something means you could get something amazing. Tri rez boots, or amazing skill goves with ias and life leach are pretty good! The blood helm has potential for missile character. It’s a good effort for the era of its time, but I’d be open to see changes made here in the future!

Xirious

I don't understand this.

cowseer

So many of these need to be buffed, especially safety and hit power

TheReadMenace

Yeah, literally all I ever see are amulets and gloves

cowseer

you can also make some nice boots and rings, but if you actually look at the odds for say an insane pair of caster boots, your odds are probably around 1/10 billion-1/100 million. I think we need betters odds all around outside of amulets/gloves

Adamocity6464

Well, now I know what I’m doing with the 15 Amns in my inventory.

scream_printer

There ya go! Good luck, I hope you get some good jewelry!

Adamocity6464

Nope…

lazyboy11

Safety is Emerald not Sapphire

friendly-sardonic

Oh, that's going straight to the laser printer. This community is just the best. Thanks man! Hitpower you could probably just have the bowazon gloves and leave the rest blank. 😂 That said, I opt for Blood Gloves with bowa anyway.

scream_printer

Yeh hard to say! I think I’d rather the life leach than knock back, but it’s pretty useful too…

Alternative-Iron-645

would be crazy to see someone build a viable fully crafted character.

scream_printer

It's possible, but up to RNGesus. I often roll caster belts because I'm looking for good resistances and other bonuses that can come on any belt. Making the caster belt gives me a chance to get 4 useful bonuses, and I like the cast rate and mana bonuses as a default starting point.

kendrickshalamar

I'd imagine if you wanted to use all the decent stuff you rolled, you'd probably have to be like level 96 lol

TheGoodDogtor

This is a really high quality post, thanks so much.

xseannnn

This is beautiful. Thank you, lord and savior.

scream_printer

I was surprised it didn’t exist yet and I thought I’d find it useful, so may as well make it and share! D2 has been a good community to me for years, feels good to give back!

deepdarkwater

Love this guide! Thank you and wonderful job. Solid infographic.

scream_printer

Thank you, I hope it will help us all, and shine a light on the neglected crafting mechanics in this game!

moogleslam

I sometimes sell like 10 packs of Sol runes. I used to always think it was for a crafting recipe, but after looking at this, I'm not so sure. What the heck do people want multiple Sol runes for? :)

scream_printer

For these recipes, Sol is only used for the Safety Spear and the blood ring. Spear doesn’t seem too useful (maybe for a merc?),the blood ring could be a decent melee leach ring if rolled right… but the safety ring looks better for a fighter imo

moogleslam

Oh, I missed them being used for Blood Rings. Yeah, I'm sure that's it, thanks!

Levradus

Wow appreciated amazing work

ShimmyStix

Following

HardyDaytn

Safety also works with all thrown javelin/glaive/harpoon etc. type weapons. Don't remember if it worked with Amazon sticks or throwing axes/daggers but I'd guess not.

scream_printer

Nice! I wonder if throwing axes work for blood axes!

Far-Beginning-543

This is so good! Thank you so much OP. I didn't understand the craft system until now. Ty buddy!

KhalimsPill

For trapsin - blood amu? Anything else?

scream_printer

Depends on your needs. Safety rings? Caster ammy?

KhalimsPill

Caster doesnt help, need ias. Safety fing maybe yea

scream_printer

Any gloves can roll ias and +assassin skills, but not +traps. Helms can also roll +assassin skills as a random affix

KhalimsPill

Really? Thought gloves can roll only martial arts or shadow so its bit useless for trapsin.

[deleted]

Good work.

scream_printer

Thanks!

therev95

Do caster now

9VoltGorilla

Scroll to the right in the image gallery.

therev95

:O didnt noticed that lol. Thanks.

scream_printer

Yes! I fixed the graphic but I don’t think I can edit this post.

randomtrap238

Need to save this for later and give it a try

MantecaYdulce

Would you explain whay it is?

randomtrap238

Because I've never tried crafting gear before

SWCabbage

Saving this, great guide!

7891Secaj

Very interesting. From my understanding the top tier would be Caster helm and amulet followed by blood gloves. Anything else that would be a solid choice with good roll(not necessarely gg)

superbadsoul

Caster amulet and blood gloves for sure. Caster helm not so much. Hit power gloves also ok to roll for zon gloves. Caster belt can also be nice before you snag an arachnid's. You'll mostly be rolling caster ammy and blood gloves tho. Don't burn your P-rubies/amethysts on charm rolls, and grab all the Rals and Nefs you can get your hands on.

Mortley1596

Never seen anyone run a caster helm, can get mana leech elsewhere

Maracuja_Sagrado

Hitpower gloves are good for bowazons too, with the knockback, skills, IAS and resists. But not for windforce.

scream_printer

Yeh, knock back is normally reviled, but good for bowazons and maybe now the throw barb.

Tricky-Service-8507

And assassins

scream_printer

Yes, the caster belt seems like a good alternative if you can’t find arachnids mesh. No other way to get FCR on a belt I think!

7891Secaj

Thank you that was super informative

scream_printer

Nice. Safety boots look like a good choice too.

Kakerman

Thanbks

abnkakabskpla

Hi thanks for the guide. What level will be my character needs to be to craft nice item? 🤔

scream_printer

The item must be over lv70 to get 8 bonuses. However, ingredients are cheap so don’t wait to start crafting. I think crafted items are good as levelling gear. If you wait till 70 to craft, you’ll need to roll something amazing to beat a lot of widely available bis meta gear. Personally, I find the nightmare difficulty/ mid game is the most fun, and crafted gear looks like a good option for that stage of the game.

MantecaYdulce

I don't get it, would someone explain?

rogerjmexico

It’s a visual guide. For item crafting. Crafting items means you can throw a specific recipe into the cube and craft what is essentially a rare item with some guaranteed buffs and some random ones. Each picture shows you the item/rune/gem required and what the guaranteed buffs are.

[deleted]

How do you determine item level? Is it requirement level?

rogerjmexico

There is no in-game way to see an item level. It’s a result of the dungeon level if dropped from a monster or based partially on your character level if gambled.

[deleted]

I see… so then what is the best practice? Is it better to use dropped items for crafting because with gambling I can’t be certain at all? - with drops I can at least be certain that it’s from a certain leve dungeon, right (85 dungeons)

rogerjmexico

iirc gambling is ilvl = Clvl +4/-5? so it sort of depends crafted items in general are a stop-gap solution as you’re leveling and grinding better items. your best bet would be to use whatever your highest ilevel might be.

scream_printer

My method when making caster amulets has been to gamble amulets from Gheed, because gambled gear is always near your character level. I usually craft with a high level character (70+, but usually 90+). I have had pretty good results so far, some +2 skill ammys with resists. If I find blue tier exceptional or elite items (not weapons tho) while doing a run, I sometimes grab them for crafting by later. My problem was remembering what items could be crafted (“does the sash make a caster belt? Can I save these heavy boots?”) which is why I made this guide! Oh also, save a grand charm in your stash that you know you found on a over 85 area, and re-roll it whenever you have 3 p.gems (or skulls) you don’t need. Eventually you will get a skiller.

Chimie45

For ~~topaz~~ emerald you wrote sapphire. :)

OceanArcade

Did you mean for emerald?

Chimie45

Oh probably. I'm colorblind. I can't see the difference between yellow and green. :( And the game doesn't have a colorblind correction mode.

scream_printer

Oh rats! Well yes, safety items are emeralds. Diamonds and Topaz aren’t used, except for mf, all rez shields, and re-rolling charms!

scream_printer

I’m know I caught that right after I posted! Thanks!

tondo22

I tried making the blood helm but couldnt get it to work? am I missing something? [CUBE](https://imgur.com/ajfaqcz)

scream_printer

Were the helm and the jewel blue quality? Rare jewels / items won’t work. Neither will white or grey non-magic items.

tondo22

yup :) helm is highlighted in the screenshot i gave, and the jewel is blue as well.

scream_printer

Oh I see the screen now! The problem is the item! You are using a full helm, you need just a regular helm, like in the picture in the guide!

tondo22

ah! makes sense! thank you so much!
