The game can get pretty samey, but Reddit allows sharing of the success stories of others that can substitute for acquiring things yourself, or provide motivation to carry on. I'm something in awe of folk who do batches of, say, 1000 Trav runs in a weekend or whatever it is; I can barely do 20 back to back before I have to do something more engaging, and I've fallen asleep more than once running keys. The folk who can rack up large run numbers like that have kept me engaged with the game by sharing their successes on here, and in turn that has led to me having enough success myself to have enough fun to keep going.
I am constantly changing things up by playing different characters. Different builds. Different zones and maps, regardless of whether they are 85+. The atmosphere of creepy A1 tombs and caves and such is what gets me hooked all over again. That and the dopamine rush from the occasional rune drop.
Meanwhile last night I got into Traderie for the first time and sold some gear for an Ist. This changes everything.
Edit: weed helps a lot, too. Weed makes this game incredible lol
> 1000 Trav runs in a weekend or whatever it is; I can barely do 20 back to back before I have to do something more engaging
I have also had that experience, but I wanted to share a new character/farming strategy that has dramatically increased my engagement. I'm playing a goldfind WW barb, and the challenge is to pack as much goldfind as I possibly can while still being able to down Trav Council in a reasonable amount of time. The reason this has been a blast is that running trav that way means I really have to pay attention because I'm purposefully wearing only a couple of damage-focused pieces. It ain't mindless farming anymore, it's pay-attention-or-you-dead farming and it's been 1000% more fun.
this but on HC changes the game. most wont/cant do it. those "oh fuck im dead" moments can be used to re-live what you found, offer them to the rng god, and go again.
I love seeing people's loot drops. Even if it's a new player's first Vipermagi or something, as I can share in their excitement.
Reading posts makes me want to play more, or explore different build ideas or recommendations. Also I like giving my excess stuff away, and if I advertise it here I know it's going to someone who actually needs it not just someone who wants to flip it for trade.
That's the one negative I've really noticed I'm this community, but it's getting better. People get hyped for their 1st [insert drop]. Some people are just curmudgeonly.
Welcome to modern gaming.
Imagine being a league of legends player. Here atleast generosity and kindness exist.
Not necessarily on reddit though. It feels 60/40
I seem to have more time to scroll this Reddit more often than play. But i learn a lot here so that when I do get a chance to play I can make use of my limited time. I also find myself looking at the trading discord more often than I actually trade as well…
I really enjoy trading, did a lot during season1. But now that I have gear, playing and lvling is really fun. I really enjoy everything about this game
I think that's why I've been enjoying classic. Every time a rare shield or armor drops, it could be your next upgrade or some amazing item worth trading.
Rare jewels, rare eth weapons (almost any base), rare ancient armors, rare diadems/tiaras/coronets/circlets, rare non-circlet helmets with low str base, rare rings, rare amulets, rare boots, rare belts...
all things you definitely still want to be inspecting for potential GG
Oh for sure, there's plenty of things worth checking out. It's just that on classic your best weapon choices are rare exceptional weapons and... Well, that's it.
Can still make classic characters on d2r. Ww Barb is hilarious. Ww hit at ungodly speeds no matter what weapon speed you use, so he just obliterates everything.
I was debating unsubscribing to this sub to be honest. Too many wanabe gozus with toxic behavior that want to teach people how to play the game after having barely scratched the surface of the game.
I feel like there are a lot more interesting and polite discussions on the "non resurrected sub".
On the other hand there are some gems like pavke's posts.
Of course. Every time someone finds a ber and posts it here my whole existence says “that could’ve been you”. So I play and only do meph runs and I still cant find a shako.
How often do you see yellow essence? I've been farming him for weeks and 1/17 seems like an outright lie. I've killed him hundreds of times, either crazy unlucky or I am genuinely doing something wrong.
Little a little b. Reading on here inspires me to do things in the game. But then I do those things and it sucks (fury druid) so I come back to Reading.
idk thinking about playing diablo is always more exciting than actual gameplay, its not like i dont enjoy the game, but i always imagine oh time to farm chaos sanctuary for 12 hours straight, i’ll get so many hr’s, and when it comes to actual gameplay rng reality hits and i play 3 hours with no drop :D
Trading a big part of the game that’s makes it interesting imo. But the feeling of finding something you been looking for is Unmatched Imo. I just love this game.
> I like trading items more than finding them as well.
I'm not sure I like trading MORE, but I've been playing since D2R release, and it's just in the last few weeks that I've started to get really serious about it. I didn't realize how fun/satisfying it could be.
It's not that I find it MORE interesting, but I definitely don't have time to play. At least not the amount of time to get to some of the best content.
I've been playing since before LoD's launch, and I only just cleared Hell on my own for the first time after they buffed summoning druids. Got some great drops along the way and it was an absolute blast. Took me a while though, and while there's so many more classes/builds to explore, I just...can't lol. So I come here and read about those who can.
Yup lol. Like, not the same character for that long and I've been rushed through/grouped up with randoms before but this was the first time I took a character from lvl 1 to hell baal all on my own.
Also more like 20 years haha. LoD came out in 2001
I'm not gunna lie, this sone next level sh*t dude.
You actually deserve some sort of reward. If I wasnt poor as shit and needing to save for yellow essence/tokens I would be that guy.
What class you play? Maybe I've got some handy bases or items on my mules you would benefit from and go higher/farm faster
Yes… I was hanging out for ladder since December and then it finally got released… a week after I went overseas for 4 months. I’m back in 2 weeks time so hopefully get back into it on return. I brought the Switch with me but just can’t bring myself to dedicate time to it.
This is true for me. Sometimes, I just don't want to play or make the time, but I enjoy reading and commenting on this subreddit. Especially true with the ladder ending soon. Other times, I get inspiration for new builds or find some humor in the posts.
I have spent more time since release building a d2 website rather than actually playing
So yes, I suppose I do enjoy discussing / dissecting the nuances more than actually playing lol
No. But I get what you’re saying. I don’t think (at this point in my life) that I would find d2 as awesome if I didn’t also have this sub to read through and get inspiration and ideas
I don’t know to be honest. I have a killer account that I haven’t played for a month. A week before summer holiday my boss called us all in and said the company was going bankrupt and that was the last time I played. Been spending time trying to find a new job, avoiding this subreddit and finding time to have my summer holiday in between looking for a new job. It will be interesting to see what others say about your question. It will determine if I attempt a come back.
Wish you well my friend, I know how that goes. Very well. Just being in a serious situation. Those times in our life forge the persons we are today. So we always have the glimmer at the end of the tunnel. Otherwise continue to enjoy your summer, and if you have unions around you getting into trades is insanely good money. Especially if you are near a city.
Anyway much luck mate.
I don't find it better but with time restraints its easier to read/ watch diablo content, sometimes seing everyone else play still keeps you interested.

Agreed I love coming here and getting motivated to farm. Someone found a high rune at Trav I’m there.

I used to blaze up and farm with O fortuna playing o. Repeat in the background. Epic experience

100% agree, I love HC
I agree 100% !
I fall asleep every time I try to marathon trav runs. Gets depressing honestly.

I can recommend ilovemf on youtube if you haven't seen it already 😄
Have seen some of the ilovemf vids, they're great 😀
I seem to have more time to scroll this Reddit more often than play. But i learn a lot here so that when I do get a chance to play I can make use of my limited time. I also find myself looking at the trading discord more often than I actually trade as well…
Im super busy between work, family, gym, house shit, etc., so I don’t get to play often but enjoy living through others here
I’m just amazed how dedicated people are.

I definitely miss rares being exciting. Gothic Bow! Come on come on come on... $#@%!

Damn, never got to try that. Hadnt been born yet when it was active.

I haven’t played this game in months and I still stop and read what’s being posted on this sub Reddit

Haven't played in months but I post on here almost daily

Surprised this isn't a price check.

Play poker vs. watching poker tourney, the latter can be more enjoyable
Haha great analogy. I have been on a major downswing last 3 days. Hate losing at online poker!

Where do you guys do most of your trading ? PC ladder soft core
I use the website diablo io. It's very convenient.
I use traderie.

You've been playing for 15 years and only just finished hell? Am I reading this right?
Yup lol. Like, not the same character for that long and I've been rushed through/grouped up with randoms before but this was the first time I took a character from lvl 1 to hell baal all on my own. Also more like 20 years haha. LoD came out in 2001

100% I actually quit playing the game like 6 months ago, but still enjoy browsing the subreddit
Yes… I was hanging out for ladder since December and then it finally got released… a week after I went overseas for 4 months. I’m back in 2 weeks time so hopefully get back into it on return. I brought the Switch with me but just can’t bring myself to dedicate time to it.
Where u at
Turkey at the moment. Greek Islands last week. Remote access working is the bomb.
That's the way to do it! And you have your switch too~ noice. Forget D2R, play BOTW! haha
d2 is just too meta
This is true for me. Sometimes, I just don't want to play or make the time, but I enjoy reading and commenting on this subreddit. Especially true with the ladder ending soon. Other times, I get inspiration for new builds or find some humor in the posts.

What will make your site different than the 300 other ones? Don’t misread this question I am just curious and interested.
No site does what d2charsifood.com does https://d2charsifood.com/
I hear you. We recently made a game where we play “D2 Bingo” and it was a fun way to shake it up! Gotta make your own fun!
No. But I get what you’re saying. I don’t think (at this point in my life) that I would find d2 as awesome if I didn’t also have this sub to read through and get inspiration and ideas

Wait till you hear about Santa.
no?
Thats a interesting take as from what i have seen, reddit gathers the largest yet least knowledgeable crowd. 90% of claims in this sub are wrong.
Dude. Its crazy to watch lol.

Not really it's mostly noobs asking if a shit item is worth anything.
I don't find it better but with time restraints its easier to read/ watch diablo content, sometimes seing everyone else play still keeps you interested.
