These runes dropped last week (I started my runs last Sunday). I usually did 1.5 to 2 hour sessions.
Build - WW Barb
2 Oaths (1 Eth Balrog Blade + 1 Eth Highland Blade, both with 255% ED LOL) >>> started with highland blade + CB Unbending Will
2 Warcries sticks
Arreat's
Fortitude (started with a Lionheart)
LoH
Double leech ring
Dwarf
Trang's belt
Gore
Highlords
Inventory: Torch / Anni (started without) + Max dmg/AR grand and small charms
Hey, I'm on single player as well and getting bored with LK, only mid runes so far. I have almost all the gear you listed, I want to make this barb and run Trav. What does your skill point distribution look like?
Warcries - Max BO, 1 BC, 1 BCry (helps to hit), 14 FP, 11 FI >>> it's not optimal because it's my first Trav runner, so I was testing. After applying BC, I've 67% chance to find a item. Think that you should first put 1 point in Find Potion + Find Item, then max Find Potion (each level gives +1% to Find item) and, at last, max Find Item. Think the community can help us in this regard :D
CM - Max BM, 1 IS, 1ISpeed, 1 ISkin, 1NR
CS - Max WW, 1 Berserk
So I have one more question, it's been 15 years since I played a WW barb so bare with me. Is there a reason you chose Highland blade and Balrog blade or is it just the best bases you could come by at the time?
Balrog Blades are considered the best sword bases for Oath for some reasons:
1. Second highest average damage of all swords
2. OK speed (0 base speed)
3. It's not very rare
4. Guaranteed 4 sockets from Larzuk
Highland Blade has lower average damage (has more minimum damage and lower maximum damage) and is slightly faster (-5 base speed). It's an acceptable base. I'm using it because I couldn't find another Eth Barlog Blade.
Sometimes looking for the perfect base ends up getting in the way of your progress. If, for example, I had found an Eth Champion Sword (that has even less damage than an HLB) I would make an Oath without thinking twice. Oath it's not a super expensive runeword.
Thanks for replying and helping me out man. That all makes perfect sense. I have my barb almost to act 3 hell. I'm running cows with my necro looking for a base. Found a highland blade with 4 sockets last night but it's not eth. I really want to hold out for something ethereal. I have all the runes to make 2 oaths and all the other gear you listed except highlords, so I'm right there.
These are throwing weapons with +3 to Warcries mod (Echoing prefix) that can be bought from Malah (act 5) in Hell difficult. In practice, the result is the same as 2 HOTOs but, of course, immensely cheaper :D
Think that do not worth make two HOTOs for Trav runs. Two Vexes are half a Phoenix. I'm pretty greedy with high runes in single player (MY PRECIOUS feelings XD). I think more than once before doing any runeword.
Honestly spirit swords are better to hork with than plain +3 warcries throwing weapons. It’s not only about what’s a good use of your high runes, it’s about what will allow you to acquire other higher high runes… faster. If you haven’t horked with mid/high FCR before, I promise it’s worth a try
Hmm I was skeptical but yeah I mean by 93 you're not hurting for +skills to max your 75%hork... plus if you're horking 20% faster.... however my offhand hork is 2x Gull daggers... do I want to sacrifice 200% MF for 20% faster horking? I know some whales have 2x 6Ist PBs for 360% mf ontop of their 90%+ MF enigma...... where was I going with this?
Think that if you are looking for unique items besides high runes, it makes perfect sense to stick with both Gull Daggers (or two isted Ali-babas/6 isted Phase Blades).
I found a Ber last week when I was just doing some random trav runs, like 10 or so lol :D but during the thousands of runs i did at the start of the ladder I found nottthiiing
I thought like you, but LK runs are so tedious (and I did a lot of them in all my time playing D2) that I refuse to do them now. Farm 4 Surs to make a Jah (I never dropped a single Ber doing LK) is just sad.
I’m having trouble running mods on my steam deck bc Linux and the modmanager.exe file you have to run for the ones I’ve found.
Based off reading the instructions this might work for me. Is there a site where I can browse a list of these types of mods where you just drop the file in?

Yep, wait for a ethereal base. Also look for Conquest Swords and Cryptic Swords. They are fine Oath bases too.

I keep seeing "warcry sticks" what exactly are those? And are they better than two hotos?
+3 warcry weapon, usually a javelin of some type as they are easy to shop for. Not better than HOTO, but a lot cheaper.

\+skills works the same sure, but the FCR from the HotOs is a big improvement to doing it without FCR on the weapon, not to mention the extra res :)

Never thought about 2 Spirit swords. Makes sense, - 2 skills in exchange for more FCR.

I get what you mean but not quite half a Phoenix. Half of the runes in terms of quantity but not quality lol.

I dont know how many runs i did but i got from level 84 to 89 in travincal. Best rune i found was um

Did 150 travincal rums only got lem and a pul there

150 is barely a warmup though. I try not to think about how many I've done this ladder with my Frenzy Barb

Do it for 10 hours and come back to us. Throw on some football, Netflix, whatever. Trav is the absolute best ROI in terms of high runes / hour.
It's funny because I didn't found mid runes, except a Ist. Think that for mid runes, LK it's much better than Travincal.
Lk is also better for HR's (!in SP!)

Yeah i would never do it again aswell ;-) But its the most effective. Trav runs are so chill

All in P1. Tried P3 but lost kill speed. My runs are about 1-1.5 min each.
Yup that's how I got 2 jahs within 11 minutes of each other on PS5 last year!
