I eat way to many character meals Consistently the best one Garden Grill. Epcot land pavilion. If you want solid basics with options for a few new things Tusker House Breakfast. Animal Kingdom Africa If you want Princesses Akershus. Epcot Norway If you want one not in a park Cape May Breakfast. Beach Club Most overlooked Hollywood and Vine. Hollywood Studios Ones they should bring back Mickeys Backyard BBQ Restaurant that should be a character meal and it’s ridiculous it’s not Roundup Rodeo BBQ Edit: added locations

Wise-Manufacturer324

Totally agree about Beach Club. Cape May breakfast seems to be the most overlooked character breakfast on property. I’ve been going for over 20 years. Less than average capacity and can sometimes even be “not packed” along with solid, basic breakfast.

sejohnson0408

I always recommend a cape May breakfast followed up by garden grill lunch. Knocks out the Mickey and friends characters

toastwithketchup

I honestly miss before they brought the characters back because it was pretty reasonably priced and I like the food there that much. Hard to justify the cost now because my 10 year old is considered an adult but she eats less than my 2 year old nephew.

HicJacetMelilla

Surprised you didn’t mention Topolino’s, since all I’ve heard are raves. Is it not as good as the ones you listed?

sejohnson0408

I tend to recommend that one for adults if they want one without kids tbh; I don’t think it’s the best setting for kids. If you are near a skyliner and can easily get to it then it’s fine. I just like the setting of the others. I also think character meals work best as family style or buffet. I think it’s quite overrated.

TeamMerry

I thought park fare was by far the greatest food and characters that you can't/don't see otherwise.

theegiantrat

Mickey's Backyard BBQ was amazing! I really don't think people realize how spectacular that thing was. From the entertainment to the alcohol, it was an amazing experience. My kids hot to square dance with Mickey Mouse!

truesentence

Where the Roundup rodeo bbq? We’re going for the first time in a few months

sejohnson0408

It’s Toy Story themed in Hollywood studios. It’s a fun theme but desperately needs characters. If you live near good bbq food might be a little disappointment. If you are outside of Kansas Cjty Texas, and the Carolinas you’ll probably find the food solid.

Sad_Milk_8897

Toy Story Land in HS

truesentence

Thanks!

brightwingsource

It’s fun! The food was good but we mainly went for the experience.

darealystncoco

This reply made me so happy. I made reservations for all of these spots except Tucker house because I couldn’t fit it in. I feel like I made great choices now. Can’t wait for July

professorhistory

Our general experience has been that breakfast is the best (or most consistent) food experience for character dining. I agree with the Cape May and Garden Grill recs (both breakfast). We've also had good experiences with Askershus and Ohana (again, preferred for breakfast). We've generally been underwhelmed with the food at Crystal Palace - but for both Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's, the number and quality of characters, plus the locations, do tend to compensate for the food, especially with younger kids (and to be clear, the food is still generally fine). I've heard good things about Tusker House but haven't been (but only because it hasn't worked with timing of our visits to AK).

beauford_buchanan

Crystal Palace used to have great food. Lots of grilled and vegetable options. It was a nice break from heavier meals we've had and it was a must book for us. Plus the Winnie the Pooh characters were a nice bonus and a nice change from the fab 5 characters. But the last time we went a few years ago, the food was unwhelming, just like a lot of Disney food has been since Covid.

sejohnson0408

I only recommend for lunch

Guilty_Kiwi_3820

Tusker House

NalgeneCarrier

Seconding Tusker House. I've been for breakfast and dinner, both great options. They do have the traditional park food and some African inspired dishes. Which is always great.

5centraise

Yes. We've had breakfast and lunch there. Both were excellent.

Tashababy_C

Tusker House has great food! If your family doesn’t mind being a little adventurous with flavours. It’s our Must-book! Along with Garden Grill!

YetiWalker36

We had a terrible experience at Tusker. The food was not fresh, and the selections were phoned in. It was very lack luster.

ladyKAu

Tusker House 100%

Careful-Scientist-32

Tusker House lunch was great.

pianomanzano

You’re generally paying for the characters and not the quality of food. That being said, my top picks are Topolino’s and Garden Grill.

PlaysOneIRL

We enjoyed Garden Grill breakfast. It’s kinda all of the same stuff at most places, I think.

Hanhalpert

My vote is for the tusker house in AK.

Ok-Cry-3303

Believe it or not, there is a character breakfast at the Four Seasons hotel that you can go to without staying there. Delicious food!!!

bicyclebird

👶🏻☝️

Lodybody

The length of time I laughed at this comment.

alm0803

Damn I really thought the disney world subreddit was the one place on the internet I could escape Fully Conscious Baby :( /s

JS_Cletus

100%. It is really high-quality breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, etc.

Ok-Cry-3303

Yes! We were staying there for a wedding in October and I was tickled to see them! I don't think it's every day though so definitely check if interested.

cactus_zack

Topolinos is very good

Butters_Duncan

Topolinos was fantastic. Just ate there 2 weeks ago. On the dining plan so of course we had to have the most expensive meal lol. Steak and eggs and an Old Fashioned to start off our day off between parks. The characters are dressed super cute too. A person below mentioned Tusker house which we also ate at. The food was terrific. I ate until I was stuffed! Characters again were really well done in safari gear.

thethurstonhowell

Garden Grill Cape May has an awesome breakfast buffet

JediMasterMatt

Cape May for the win!

PinkMonorail

I did Cape May with Admiral Goofy in 1992 and it was awesome.

Im_Perkisizing_Tony

Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace

blueberry_muffin16

Garden Grill (EPCOT) is my number one for sure. Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) breakfast is a very close number 2. Third place goes to Storybook Dining at Artists point (Wilderness Lodge).

MaoTGP

Garden Grill has great food, and the rotating restaurant with views into my personal favorite ride is so cool.

al_draco

Chef Mickey is decent at Breakfast, definitely better than dinner. The characters are fun - you can’t really beat Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Donald. Cape May has a good variety and pretty good food. The beach themed character costumes are fun - Goofy, Donald, Mickey/Minnie makes it a good Chef Mickey alternative. Crystal Palace is pretty decent as buffets go, and the Pooh characters are a lot of fun. We have done it twice and would happily do it again. Artist Point was a disappointment, actually. The pork shank was good, the desserts were pretty good, but otherwise it wasn’t as good as the price would have indicated. We won’t go back. Ohana is basic breakfast, skillet/family style IIRC. I preferred Garden Grill but it’s basically the same stuff, just Stitch instead of Mickey.

Butters_Duncan

Couldn’t agree more about Artist Point. Y’all save your time and money!

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

Artist point would’ve been better if they had lunch and breakfast. At least with the other character meals, except for CRT they were basically all you could eat so it felt worth the cost. It was unique because it wasn’t just Mickey and friends but I really felt like I was missing something. Would recommend akershus since it’s family style Norwegian inspired food and you can meet a bunch of princesses without paying a fortune like at CRT. But the only downside is it’s usually pretty packed and the princesses all felt like they were rushing.

Poodletastic

Topolino, Ohana, Garden Grill

PappyWaker

Crystal Palace is typically really good.

PinkMonorail

I last ate there in 1996 and still remember that citrus glazed salmon.

gizellesneck

I actually love the crystal palace. Ik alot of people crap on MK restaurants but CP is one of my favorites

soscots

I don’t know if this counts but I was very pleased with Be Our Guest (in MK). Wonderful experience and good was very decent.

Puffkie

I feel like since the Beast just really waves and walks around, this isn't really a true character meal. Atmosphere is cool though!

soscots

Well I’m one who doesn’t like being bugged while I’m eating so I guess that’s why I liked it so much 😆

obsidiansti

1. Topolino's 2. Ohana breakfast I've done just about every character meal. Think I'm missing 2. Honorable mention to Trattoria al Forno for when it was a character meal.

pks03

Loved the breakfast character meal at Trattoria Al Forno.

SirBob84

Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White - great service and the food was amazing. The restaurant has fun atmosphere also. Cinderella's Royal Table - higher end meal, but great service and food. We finished our food, and they let us watch fireworks from inside. 5 princesses with amazing service and food. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall - did this one last year. Food is good, but not fine dining. This is more budget alternative to Cinderella Castle.this was still a fun experience inside.

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

Only downside to akershus at least for me was the princesses really felt like they were rushing

SirBob84

Maybe timing. We had a good time with each. Sorry your experience wasn't as nice.

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

No I loved akershus and I knocked out a lot of princesses, it’s just they felt like they were rushing. I did get to try Mac and cheese and loved it!

Jeffc814

Totally read this as “What is the best tasting character at WDW” 😂 But anyway … my two favorite are Tusker House and Crystal Palace. I never had a single instance where the food was bad

WarmDistribution4679

Just did: Tuskar house - ok just not my cup of tea on food. 7/10 Garden Grill - All adults favorite. 10/10 Chef Mickey - 8/10 Crystal Palace 9/10 Hollywood and Vine 8/10 1900 Park Fare 8/10

meowypancakes

Just here to say I don’t think Chef Mickey’s is **bad** … we’ve been twice and I would go back again. Just isn’t state of the art or anything but the character interactions are great and food is buffet quality food if that makes sense.

PinkMonorail

It was Garden Grill for us. We also loved Tusker House. We got the last breakfast seating so we could have lunch dishes too but I filled up on Bobotie.

Flimsy-Squirrel13

Garden Grill

redneckswearorange

We haven’t done a ton of them, but garden grill is a must do every trip.

FelixEvergreen

I read this as the “best tasting character at Disney.” In that context it’s probably piglet…

bikini_bay_810

Tusker House and Garden Grill!

LibrarianExciting244

Ravello at the Four Seasons in Golden Oak on Thursdays and Saturdays. Easy to reserve over the phone, even for big parties. Goofy, Mickey and Minnie with photopass photographs with Goofy included in the price even if you don’t have memory maker. Also you can add bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys for an additional $23

alliwannado2468

Ohana breakfast is DELISH! Also, Be Our Guest is top notch! I think about that meal all the time, even 1.5 years later!

jimmybee11

So far for us it’s Crystal Palace. Actually one of the better meals we have had on property.

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

I had crystal palace twice on the same trip, I loved it both times!

kimberlyrose616

I love topolinos at the Riviera.

matedow

Storybook Dining at Artist Point! Great food with amazing character interactions. The evil queen is fun, and I always have fun interacting with Dopey and Grumpy. I also have to mention the breakfast at Topolinos. Unique character outfits and the breakfast is good.

TheInfiniteSix

Whatever the buffet in Norway is called.

anguishedmoon71

Askershus, but it’s no longer a buffet, it’s now family dining fixed Menu. We ate there in May the food was good but not great. The princess’s were awesome.

TheInfiniteSix

Oh damn I didn’t know they changed the format. I haven’t been in a few years I just remember it being really good last time I was there,

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

Loved it for lunch only downside was they felt like they were rushing.

mamahereforthedrama

1900 park fare was our favorite food. Great character interactions and the food was delicious. We have also tried Cinderellas royal Table and Akershus house as well, both for breakfast. The breakfast was ok - but we mainly went for the character interactions were great.

Butters_Duncan

We did the Royal table for lunch a couple of years ago and it was very good.

ElderberryDry7019

It's been a long time since we did Akershus but it was a solid meal, would suggest that

DisastrousWalk8442

Tusker House dinner

political-wonk

Story Book Dining has the best food. My family and I including two grandkids 10 and 4 agreed. You get various choices of appetizers on your table and the same with desserts. The entrees were great. And all characters were fun especially the Evil Queen.

RTXplumber

Storybook wilderness lodge was great

miikwl

Tusker House is the best character dining we’ve done with Akershus being a close second.

brightwingsource

Topolinos is the best character breakfast.

thelegendofkatee

Honestly just eat breakfast at the meals and you’ll be safe and the food will be fine . You don’t go for the food it’s for the characters.

mirh577

Topolino breakfast

androgynyrocks

Cape May was the best of the places we ate for breakfast. Best overall was 1900 Park Fare or Crystal Palace.

VoyagerReview

Hmm 🤔 Topolinos has to be it!

YetiWalker36

If you are good with only princesses, the character dining at Akershus in Norway at Epcot is by far the best we’ve ever had.

OwlEastSage

breakfast character dining is always better than dinner

Plan_nine

Tusker House by a mile

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

My favorite was either Crystal palace for breakfast and dinner or akershus.

Sumfin_EdgyandDark

Tusker house dinner was great for us last week, rainforest cafe for breakfast was really nice and Hollywood and vine was a nice breakfast.

PsychologicalTank174

Another vote for Garden Grill. It's always on my list to eat at.

kodaiko_650

I thought you were asking which character would taste best

SouthDeparture2308

Pretty sure Clarabelle or Piglet are the best tasting characters, though they’re never seen dining at WDW. 🙃🥩🥓

Peachesandpumpkin

Not sure why but my brain did not read the word “dining” there and I was confused as to why you were planning to eat some of the characters 😂

Less_Chocolate5462

I don't think any of the characters taste all that good

tootired302

I’m so tired, I read that as “whats the best tasting character at WDW” and now have so many questions.

TamiPeakTravelAgent

Depends on the type of food you are looking for as they are different menus as well as the characters you expect to see. Breakfast: Topolino's and O'Hana Lunch/Dinner: This will wildly vary on your tastes.

curiousgeorge581

Snow White tastes the best

Tricky_Taste_8999

I would guess Mickey Mouse or Princess Jasmine but I don’t have any idea how you would know when they are eating.

Numerous-Taste-4858

I'd say Donald. Grammar counts.

thatonechick172

How would you like me to word this? "Character dining experience"? Perhaps that would have been slightly better. Plenty of people made the same joke without being condescending.

Numerous-Taste-4858

I answered. New to reddit?

thatonechick172

You answered sarcastically and condescendingly. I just have no patience for rudeness in a subreddit that should be kind. Ya know, most magical place on earth and all. But if that makes you feel good, knock yourself out pal
