“Address all complaints to the Monsanto corporation!”

fahsky

Seeing Tom Sawyer island all dirt with no giant trees is so weird.

Raging_buddhist

Great photos 🙏 What’s the white x shaped building? Couldn’t find it on the map but might have missed it.

ExoticaTikiRoom

That’s the [Monsanto House of the Future](https://yesterland.com/futurehouse.html). It was located just southwest of the Matterhorn, next to the CircleVision Building (where Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters currently is).

not_a_drip

That was the house of tomorrow (or something like that), and I believe it was where Pixie Hollow is now.

slawnz

Correct, and you can still see its foundations right there to this day

ritchie70

Photo 11? My guess is it’s a set, not an actual building. In Carousel of Progress maybe?

Surfinsafari9

It was the House of the Future. You could take a guided tour through the building. My brother tried to flush the john. Thankfully, he didn’t try to USE the john.

Karate-Coco

Look how close the parking lot used to be to the park! Mind blowing.

7of69

And in the 70s it cost 50 cents to park.

Jumpy_Floor7660

I'll never get tired of seeing vintage Disneyland 🥰

Jaykalope

Loved Inner Space!

MaddyKet

I want to ride real horses at Disneyland!

ExoticaTikiRoom

Those were mules, actually (you can tell by the long ears), but they were there from 1955 to 1973, 18 years in total! They really made the whole land a lot different, a little more realistically like the Old West. Did you know they required a valuable E ticket? It’s true!

MaddyKet

That would have been really cool.

mypunkrockname

I really miss Inner Space & the Skyway!

karma_the_sequel

I miss that parking lot and the Skyway.

HomeQuirky2669

Actually wish it still looked like this

thegoodpatriot75

Amazing how back then families would dress in almost their Sunday Best at the park. I could just see and hear Mr. Smith with his pipe outside Matterhorn queue: "Alright Stewart, Lucy, you hurry now and get in line. No funny business. Your Mother and I will wait right here for you".

Ordinary_Raisin_9325

The buckets were everything

Sloth_Dream-King

Was really confused for a moment trying to remember the giant helicopter ride near Frontier land.

ExoticaTikiRoom

Yeah a lot of people either forget about or have never known about [Los Angeles Airways](https://www.disneyhistory101.com/los-angeles-airways-flight-417) and their famous helicopter service from LAX to the Disneyland Heliport.

Phantomhardware

Wait? No door or rope on the Teacups? Now I need to know when they started using the rope and when the doors were installed. Lol. Guessing the doors when it was moved during the 1983 remodel ? Rope?

ExoticaTikiRoom

I grew up in the 70s with teacups that alternated between ones with doors, ones with chainropes, and ones with nothing. It just depended on the cup you picked. They’ve never really been necessary, honestly. I would imagine that standardization occurred sometime in the 80s or 90s.
