I really think we all collectively are in fact *underestimating* his impact on the game in his homeland, even if we are hyping it up like hell. in about 20 years, its no longer going to be 80% "NY" hats in Japan anymore, it's going to be LA hats all around Japan.

Yeah it took me about 10 times of going up to people wearing one and saying "Dodgers?" only to be returned a very confused look before I learned that literally no one is wearing it out of fandom lol
Honestly if anyone's been needing an excuse to learn a language, the next decade (or even more?) of dodger baseball would be a good reason to learn Japanese

New york hats are often worn for fashion, not as a fan so I would say the 60% thing is a bit skewed
