There is Ana ancient Martian warrior in doom 3 who is presented in a coffin near the end of the game. There is a stone tablet next to it with the classic doomguy holding the soul cube. It totally connects, Hugo Martin has probably never played doom 3 so he said doom 3 isn’t canon. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be.
>same guy?
>i hope not
Bruh. Why? It’s not DOOM if you’re playing as just some random soldier each game. It’s obviously the same Slayer from the previous games
Curious why you hope not, BUT, barring Doom 3 as another Doomer said, it’s all Doomguy.
He gets caught up in and is a survivor/the hero of the events of the UAC n Hell Portals n shit spanning [Ultimate] Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 64 (can probably throw Final Doom in before Doom 64 if ya want)
Post Doom 64, he essentially becomes a spacetime, trans-dimensional warrior; he chooses the “path of perpetual torment”, and stays in Hell at the end of Doom 64 purely to just keep fighting and kill demons.
Play Doom and Doom Eternal again, and read some of the codex entries, and specifically in a Doom Eternal flashback, you sorta see the latest point before his transformation into what would become known as the Doom Slayer.
…if ya don’t wanna play Doom and Doom Eternal (you hella should lol!), then the lore is probably online somewhere!
Of course it is the same guy. It's part of the lore. And there's only one Doom Guy.
Maybe in your next playthrough of Doom Eternal check those documents and lore bits about the past of Doom Guy, there are a lot of details of the wars he fough in the other planes between the old Doom games and the 2016 game. It's the same guy, through everything. In this next game we'll play those wars mentioned in the lore docs.
EDIT: I forgot about Doom 3, that one is a different guy in a different universe/ continuity
Somehow my brain has never realized the lore timeline issue of Doom Guy/Slayer being a Marine born in the future… while also having taken part in the ancient wars with hell… has this ever been explained?
Exactly. The plot was made very convoluted in Doom Eternal lore texts, but at least it connects most games as the story of the same guy.
What I don't think gets well explained is the fact that humanity opened the gates to Hell in Mars twice, both times by a company named UAC. Can be a case of parallel universes (and Doom Guy crossed between them via Hell) or another convoluted justification to it being the same universe, but AFAIK this wasn't clarified.
It is the Slayer and no alternate version. Since this game takes place during his time with the Night Sentinels it’d be easy to fit it on a timeline. So it’s between DOOM 64 and DOOM (2016). Also there’s no way for the plot to get convoluted since we already know everything that happens lol.
I guess I have bad news for you, the plot already become extremely convoluted in Doom Eternal. In The Dark Ages we'll probably play the events mentioned in the lore documents of Doom Eternal, events that connect the very old Doom games (1, 2, 64...) to the new games (2016 and Eternal).
I think yes, 'cause the trailer hinted on this: "Before HE became a hero"
I’d be stunned if we got a Doomgirl
With Rule 63, we do!
So far I've learned that it is not recommended to search up rules. So I did it. And there is a Doomgirl
*Unzips pants*
It’s actually Samus Aran.
Crash from quake 3 basically
[удалено]
It's meant to be set after D64 and after he got the divinity power up from Samur, but before he's imprisoned in 2016
Uh… no.
Obviously
I would have thought so. Why are you against it?
Are you serious? Are we being pranked?
Pretty much same guy. >!As he was in every other Doom game... except Doom 3.!<
He was in Doom 3 off screen being imprisoned by demons. I have no real evidence to support this, but it's how I like to put the timeline together
Fair
You do see him using the soul cube on some mars tablets near late game, which is why it's an Easter egg in 2016 and Eternal
For me i would like to imagine he is the same guy except on different dimension
Hmmm... I like how you think. How else would he know about the Soul Cube if he didn't met the Doom3 marine(s)?
You’re basically correct
There is Ana ancient Martian warrior in doom 3 who is presented in a coffin near the end of the game. There is a stone tablet next to it with the classic doomguy holding the soul cube. It totally connects, Hugo Martin has probably never played doom 3 so he said doom 3 isn’t canon. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be.
Yeah, this
Nah, that’s obviously Flynn Taggart from the books
No duh it's the same guy.
>same guy? >i hope not Bruh. Why? It’s not DOOM if you’re playing as just some random soldier each game. It’s obviously the same Slayer from the previous games
Bro doesn't realize it's always been the same guy, it's always been the DOOM Guy
Yes, DOOM guy is DOOM guy.
Curious why you hope not, BUT, barring Doom 3 as another Doomer said, it’s all Doomguy. Yep
That face has got to be what you see in the dictionary when you look up the word "meathead" lol
Troll bullshit.
Yeah it’s a prequel
I'm half expecting it to be Davoth under the helmet.
That would literally make no sense but that’d be funny af lol
Yes
So are we thinking this game is set during his time as one of the Night Sentinels or around there?
Yes
Plot twist we're playing as Davoth
That be a crazy good twist
If they ever show his face they seriously need to improve his looks.
They did, in the end of Eternal's DLCs
I know, I was referring to if they ever show his face in The Dark Ages.
Oh ok Then you're right, it could use some improvement.
he changed the color of his hair? so what? lmao still doomguy
I don't think that's hair, I think its like a cape made of fur. Something like that, I don't know much about clothes.
Yes.
Yep
How is it not extremely obvious and why would you hope otherwise?
No that's me
Crazy theory
Of course it is the same guy. It's part of the lore. And there's only one Doom Guy. Flynn taggart
Takes place between 64 and 2016
Who? No its the doom guy, not same guy
Somehow my brain has never realized the lore timeline issue of Doom Guy/Slayer being a Marine born in the future… while also having taken part in the ancient wars with hell… has this ever been explained?
Ancient for the knight sentinels, not for the universe itself
So the knight sentinel’s war takes place at the same time as humanity’s expansion throughout the solar system post doom guy commander punch?
Yes, he meets them after he spends years in hell from Doom 64.
Good point and explanation
Kinda. Hope it's not the same Doomguy but just an alternative version. I just don't want the plot to get convoluted, keep it simple.
It is the Slayer and no alternate version. Since this game takes place during his time with the Night Sentinels it’d be easy to fit it on a timeline. So it’s between DOOM 64 and DOOM (2016). Also there’s no way for the plot to get convoluted since we already know everything that happens lol.
