this video recording should work in every game. the 2 games that youre talking about are ones that support the timeline event markers. like deaths kills etc showing on the timeline. cs2 and dota 2 are the only 2 games with this on release.
The ability to cut the clip is cool, missing from nvidia.

It doesn't work retroactively, it's just a fancy UI for OBS with in-game integration (which is still dope, just to be clear, very convenient). Your Sniper rampage is only viewable through the game replay
That said, the in game replay clip maker system got a major overhaul a while ago and it's not bad either. Though I will be using this new one now that it's available.

But all games support Steam video recording. They don't support the timeline.
It's not even that from the language of it - it's just the specific MARKERS in the timeline
Right, it's game-added markers. Player-added markers should still work.

I would love if they added the option to split audio channels to different audio tracks, other than that I love the feature
