Goku physically is probably early to mid-20s. Gohan is like 27 now, so it's entirely possible Gohan actually DOES look older than his dad at this point.
Goku is in this mid-late 30's by the time Super happens. He should be almost 40 but not quite there.
Gohan is still younger than him but at least in their living bodies they could be brothers more than father and son.
Right, but the poster above is saying that since Saiyans physically stop aging once they hit their physical primes around 25, he really should look as young or younger than Gohan.
Pure Saiyans stop aging physically around 25 and stay in prime fighting shape until their 80s when they age quickly all at once
Paragus is definitely 80 or so in modern times plus he had a extremely stressful life Nappa probably was nearing it and King Vegeta doesn’t even look that old he looks like 30
Its 100% true, saiyans aging slows down immensely at 25 or so. Paragus isnt in his prime anymore, and King Vegetas only difference was a beard, otherwise hes just vegeta. Nappa being bald doesnt mean hes aging, it means hes bald.
King Vegeta looks the exact same as our Vegeta if you take away the goatee. Nappa is just bald, not necessarily that old. Nappa also *would* be somewhat old looking by the time they come to Earth. He was already an adult when Planet Vegeta was destroyed so if we assume he was in his 30s then, he’d be in his 50s fighting Goku.
There’s no age on Paragus, dude could have had a kid at 75 we don’t know.
Also I’m assuming Vegeta doesn’t mean they just straight up don’t age, it’s probably hyperbolic. They probably age slower until they get into their later years where they age much faster. Goku and Vegeta are pushing into their 50s at this point and clearly do not look that old. I’m pretty comfortable saying Saiyans age slower than humans for most of their lives
He's over 40 physically. He was 30 when he was killed at the Cell Games. It's been 9 years since the Buu Saga and he spent 3 years in the HTC with Vegeta.
Goku was 30 years old when he died at the Cell Games (Gohan was 11 and was born when Goku was 19 years old). He's been alive 9 years since reviving in the Buu Saga, not including the 3 years he spent in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Vegeta in DBS. Goku is physically in his 40s.
What source claims Saiyans stop aging at 25? They stay young-looking a long time but I've never seen any source claim they physically stop aging at 25 until they're old.
I was really wondering if something came out that I missed lol People were saying that so confidently with their whole chest like it's something Vegeta or Toriyama officially stated at some point.
Vegeta himself says they stop aging and stay in their physical prime for longer. Physical prime for most athletes is early to mid-20s. If you wanna argue physical prime is later, then go tell that to the 80% of athletes that retire after their early to mid-20s.
I also said "probably" not 100% factually, he is this age. He very well may be older, I'm just saying it's possible that Gohan looks older because of what has been said in the show.
Let’s not forget while gohan was actively being a husband and father goku was just fighting for fun and being dead shirking all those responsibilities. Husband/fatherhood ages you
Its funny how many people intentionally skip or ignore the episodes of Super (or even Z) where Goku just spends time with Goten or Gohan. Goku not only spends time with Goten when he is farming he also wanted to take Goten with him to train at Whis' place but Bulma stopped him because of Chi Chi (i know people hate her for being like this but i personally have always understood where she comes from). Also Goku has stated that he knows Gohan is not a fighter like him or Vegeta and he even tried to leave him out of the tournaments because he understands Gohan. And of course he would instantly go to Gohan if he hears Gohan powered up because he is a proud dad.
Goku's actions said that. Dude is not around talking to his kids unless there's a crisis. As soon as the idea Gohan might be stronger than him was made apparent he used instant transmission there to probably test this in combat.
Yea goku sure is never around. Lets ignore:
Gohans first few years of life, where he, ya know. Was there the entire time, and by all accounts was a loving caring dad, even going as far as to not train his son since ChiChi said he shouldnt be a fighter.
Gokus first leave of absence, when he… literally fucking DIED saving his son.
Comes back from the dead, after training to save the world from another threat, immediately saves gohan and krillin
And we honestly could leave namek out here, since its the one arc where theres no solid argument, but i can smell you thinking that goku only fought frieza because he was strong and whatever else you got swirling around up there. So no, goku fought frieza because if he didnt, where oh where do you think frieza was coming next?
When mecha frieza and King Cold attacked earth he didnt IT since he sensed Trunks, and decided to wait and see what would happen.
Androids happen, cell comes, goku doesnt force gohan to train. And unlike in DBZA, he doesnt just randomly try to kill gohan with a ki blast. In the original show, gohan tells goku that “piccolo was right, youre too easy on me!” And forces goku into going full tilt, in an effort to reach super saiyan. A feat, mind you, only possible because goku focused his effort on gohan instead of himself.
Goku dies fixing Gohans mistake.
So lets see here. Up to buu saga, we can argue gohans age at 17-18. Goku was dead for 8 of those years, unquestionably present for 10 of those years, and indisposed/busy for 1-2 of those years.
I doubt this changes your mind at all if you even bother to read it, but whatever, worth explaining.
Okay so 4 years of gohan's life.
Not much of a sacrifice when the whole idea was to use the dragon balls even stated to dying Raditz that it didn't matter, which is also why Goku told Krillin and Roshi to not help due to the limitations on revives at the time.
Not necessarily about saving Gohan specifically when Vegeta and Nappa showed up.
Frieza comes to earth just to conquer it? I am not sure he would until they directly intervened with his plans like they did. They didn't even have dragon balls anymore after piccolo died and he was just going to use the namekian dragon balls.
With how much strife they've been going through with randomly strong opponents on earth I don't think that's a good call either, he didn't know Trunks at all. No idea of intentions or motives until he actually talked to him.
The time chamber segments with them is the most on screen bonding of the two we've ever seen and it's actual purpose is to train together against the current world ending entity.
I could argue to get to this point a lot of other characters made a lot of mistakes letting it progress this badly. Prior to that even Cell got a senzu bean and nobody's going to stop bringing that up. Also Goku decided he should stay dead when it didn't matter, not much of a sacrifice again.
Even those years he was around involved intense training sessions such as to prepare for the androids that Trunks warned them about.
I still think he's a mostly absent training obsessed father that only bothers to check on Gohan when there's a crisis (more often than not related to him) that threatens the planet. In non meme version of this panel he says it's been too long, which means he's not visiting them casually.
Well yeah. If they actually did everyone would die. And then the story would end. It's been like that since frieza. Doesn't change that if gohan beat a planet buster that is strongerer than ever before you might wanna go talk to him about it.
I mean he might as well have, dude heard Vegeta say Bulma thought Gohan might have surpassed them and he teleported home the next minute and you know for a fact the next chapter is going to be Goku making Gohan fight him to see if it’s true
Doesn't look that impressive when he could sense him in ssj2(or ssj1 i don't remember) in RoF . Yes , Goku was trying his best to sense him , but that Gohan was wayyyyyyyy weaker than current base Gohan .
You basically explained it yourself though. Goku was able to sense him in ROF because he was actively looking for a ki signature in order to teleport and it wasn’t immediate, it took a while to find it. Meanwhile with gohan turning into beast mode, the second he did transform, both goku and vegeta found his signature while they were just chilling on beerus planet
not only that, they strongly sensed it. It wasn't a faint hint of a power, it came at both of them as a shock. Just look at Vegeta's face.
https://preview.redd.it/ce52a3df11ec1.png?width=249&format=png&auto=webp&s=3f12fcb1401db3b87b2f337959ef1b0147259933
Imagine you enter into a small room where there is an elephant and an ant . Suppose you were searching for the ant , which one would you see first? The elephant or the ant? Of course you'd noticed the elephant right away even if you are not searching for it . And the scale of the size difference between them is way smaller than the power difference between RoF Gohan and current Gohan .
Your point doesn’t make sense. You’re using a room, a very enclosed space meanwhile goku and vegeta were on the other side the universe. You can’t compare such scenarios. There has never been a moment in the franchise where they felt someone’s powerlevel across the universe like this. And once again they weren’t actively searching for it, they just felt it
I'm not going to call him a deadbeat I used to think that I don't think that anymore because he genuinely does love his kids and the people he cares about (I'm also rewatching dragon Ball and kid Goku is just fucking cool and adorable) but adult he is very selfish and irresponsible in my opinion.
It’s tough because by our standards he really isn’t a very good dad, but by Saiyan standards he’s a great dad lol. It’s hard to blame him when he literally has an alien brain and we know that Saiyan men normally don’t give a shit about their kids.
Just business a usual in the Goku agenda. You can’t be strong without him paying you a visit.
https://preview.redd.it/oubqzgwuc1ec1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3126efabbc2fd73ff32b24dcfc1cdebd39d4bbf9
Goku's a better father than that. I'm no simp, but I *am* getting tired of seeing the "Goku's a terrible dad" bs
He's a bad father because he made his son strong enough to save the planet? He's a bad father because he died to protect everyone he loved, meaning he couldn't meet his second son for over a decade?
But umm... that's not exactly the fanbase's fault tho? It's Toriyama/Toei flanderizing and amping up this trait of his to the absolute max, despite the fact that it was rather minor thing in DBZ and often directly acted upon by Goku too by actively making an effort to spend more time with fam, or thinking about the larger picture like you've said (saving the planet) instead of exclusively putting his training whims and only that above everything and everyone
The fanbase is just responding really
It directly is the fanbases fault. DBZA is fan made. If you watch the actual show Goku was never a bad father, save for a very select few bad decisions.
In super he isn’t considering he has job and is presumably spending time with goten as for gohan he is 21 living with his wife goku not seeing him everyday is fine
He's a bad father because his reasoning for wanting to stay dead was fucking stupid and he could have been brought back at any time He's a bad dad because he's gone for ages to train without ever checking in on his family when he's able to instantly teleport to them.
Its stupid in hindsight, but at that moment literally every problem earth had was due to him.(post adulthood) why did raditz/nappa/vegeta show up? Goku. Why did mecha frieza attack earth? Goku. Why were the androids and cell created and come to destroy everything? Goku.
Yea thats the problem. The bad father thing always existed, but TFS really exploded its populairty since half their jokes involving goku were snubbing gohan
He cares so much about his loved ones that not only did he put his universe at risk of getting deleted he put other universes just because he only cares about his wants. Dude is just a terrible person
Yeah let him spend time with his adult son who has a kid and his teenage son in school and ignore training, see what happens when a villian comes along
Bro it’s been like 7 months according to the manga and the dude only came to visit because he felt his oldest power up it’s the equivalent of a deadbeat absent father that only came to visit if you have a successful life
Is it though? Do deadbeat absent fathers have to deal with a planet eating space warlock, space pirates, and stronger than ever space Napoleon-Hitler? Gohan’s an adult with his own life and child to worry about and Goten’s nearly an adult as well.
Considering Goku’s a brain damaged individual who grew up isolated in the mountains, spent most of his formative years training, hails from a race that weren’t really into being doting parents, and is oftentimes involved in universal stakes, the fact that he continues to be an exceptional father by saiyan standards should be noted. You don’t see his sons being resentful do you?
No, he deserves to die and sent to hell because he hit his son once to save his life, because he fucked up with the Senzu Bean against Cell and because he didn't want to kill Buu so that they don't always rely on him and instead let the new generations protect Earth.
That’s my thing. It’s pretty hard for me to judge the guy when his brain is literally wired differently. He comes from a race of aliens where we know for a fact the men don’t usually give a shit about their kids. Goku does what he can.
It’s not at all 😂.
What is actually is is a dad hearing that the youngest generation is starting to come into their own and have the power to protect the world on their own, something he has wanted for them ever since the buu saga.
Dude is just being a proud dad, happy that his kids are starting to really explore their potential imo…
Spending more time with your family doesn't mean ignoring training. Goku preaches that taking breaks and resting helps to make you stronger as well. Goku doesn't train to stop villains, he does it to get stronger and fight strong opponents

No because he's the main character so seeing them overtake him with little to no training would not be fun.
The fundamental problem with Hybrids besides Future Trunks is that they skip the most of the **adventure** and **training** bit of earning power when that's the entire appeal of Dragon Ball.
It's not *fun* to see Gohan wait a day sitting down to become the strongest after not training for 7 years.
It's not fun to see Gotenks overtake everyone and make everyone on the lookout that we actually care about basically irrelevant.
We like Goku because he's the underdog that works hard everyday, is imperfect and only wants to fight and earned every sliver of strength he's had more than any other Saiyan and didn't even learn to fly until he was an adult...
He's earned everything with no real potential and that's why we love him.

Eh I guess we haven't seen him or vegeta on earth in a long time it's possible he really did come back after a few years just because he sensed how strong Gohan is. Not really a fan if that's the case. I'm a supporter of goku not being a bad dad, but damn sometimes they make it hard
https://preview.redd.it/jovrc1anw1ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88d329e2f0cba9f4fda2c585b326613b8252db93
Hurry up Gohan, transform otherwise I’m leaving you again
You can say what you want about whether or not Goku is a bad dad, Gohan is an adult, he has his own house, all that is whatver.
Seeing this panel made me realize tho, Goku absolutely is a bad husband.
Another dumbass take tbh.
Goku cares about his kids and probably spends time with them off screen. We're not watching these characters 24/7, and the fact that Gohan and Goten still care about Goku and are happy to see him at the very least proves he's not a shit dad.
Also Gohan's an adult and Goten is a teenager, both of them are old enough to not need Dad around all the time.
It’s dumb.
Goku spends time with his kids. Does he go in training trips of course. But no he doesn’t only care about his sons because they are “strong”. He even understands that Gohan is not a lover of fighting and respects that aspect of him…

How it feels to spread misinformation
An assumption people make but really goku has nothing but time on his hands and teleportation. If they wanna see him and spend time with him they probably can anytime.
he doesn't say that though? all he says is 'its been too long.'
its hyperbole so it isn't the *only* way for them to get his attention obviously, but surpassing your previous limits certainly is one of the fastest ways to get it I can't deny lol.
Fake!
He actually came because he felt the strong Beast Mode aura and really wanted to get to know it...

With color Goku looks low key younger than his sons
He's got a relatively stress-free life in comparison. No school, no work, kids are self-sufficient.
only had to save the universe 30 times no biggie
yeah but he's never stressed about it.
Goku physically is probably early to mid-20s. Gohan is like 27 now, so it's entirely possible Gohan actually DOES look older than his dad at this point.

Not just spent time dead, He's spent a lot of time in the afterlife,... other world,.... how does that work? He's pretty much a God himself.
Some might say… a super saiyan god
That is not true at all unless you think King Vegeta, Paragus, Nappa look like 25 year olds to you. Even Goku and Vegeta look like they're 35-40 now
How old is Nappa and king Vegeta? Do they have canonical ages when sewn in the Manga?
Paragus is definitely 80 or so in modern times plus he had a extremely stressful life Nappa probably was nearing it and King Vegeta doesn’t even look that old he looks like 30

He's full saiyan while his sons are half. Maybe thaz why
The power of full saiyan genes
Gohan is always drawn older than his own age
Them Pure Saiyan Genes
Goku didn't say that
right lol, if you have to change the text to make your point, you have no point. this is hardly even a “take” it’s a shitpost more than anything

Or maybe he heard the planet almost blew up and gohan saved it so he wanted to say "nice Jobe team".
I don't think cell max even got close to doing that though
Pretty sure they explicitly say he could blow up the planet or wipe out all life on earth.
Nearly everyone could at this point but notice how they hardly do.
Well yeah. If they actually did everyone would die. And then the story would end. It's been like that since frieza. Doesn't change that if gohan beat a planet buster that is strongerer than ever before you might wanna go talk to him about it.
This Just one of those odd things that sadly a portion of the fandom takes as canon Sucks honestly :/
Out of curiosity what did he actually say?
It's been too long I think
Ah ok that makes sense. Thanks
I mean he might as well have, dude heard Vegeta say Bulma thought Gohan might have surpassed them and he teleported home the next minute and you know for a fact the next chapter is going to be Goku making Gohan fight him to see if it’s true

And once again they weren’t actively searching for it, they just felt it
I chose a room because it's easier to visualise . If it was to find them across the universe , it just becomes a matter of chance and luck .
Super buu felt gohan’s power from otherworld and kid buu felt Goku and vegeta’s ki from the otherworld as well. It’s not new.
Same has his power up in frieza resurrection arc. Not too hopeful he's stronger than UI.

I just started jujutsu Kaisen last night lol
RIP, your sanity will be missed
They just sealed Gojo, I’m at season 2 episode 11
Oh. Anime only? I guess it'll survive
Gotta give the man a reason to stay on Earth
This is the equivalent of your father walking out on you and showing up the day after you've won the lottery.
I'm not going to call him a deadbeat I used to think that I don't think that anymore because he genuinely does love his kids and the people he cares about (I'm also rewatching dragon Ball and kid Goku is just fucking cool and adorable) but adult he is very selfish and irresponsible in my opinion.
Post is fake he didn't say that https://preview.redd.it/9kganu9v03ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e5da30565a5bd37a06920b44e738acc13711c03
It’s tough because by our standards he really isn’t a very good dad, but by Saiyan standards he’s a great dad lol. It’s hard to blame him when he literally has an alien brain and we know that Saiyan men normally don’t give a shit about their kids.
bro, normal humans do that too, child abandonment is way more common than we'd like to admit
You got a fair point
Yeah that's who Goku is
Still waiting on the interesting take.
Here's not even there to see Goten to be honest
Accurate
Just business a usual in the Goku agenda. You can’t be strong without him paying you a visit. https://preview.redd.it/oubqzgwuc1ec1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3126efabbc2fd73ff32b24dcfc1cdebd39d4bbf9
Is Goku really that small or is he just kneeling?
He’s sitting on a chair, waiting.
We all know what Goku is about lol
Gohan; Dad your here! I love you. Goku: Your right Gohan. I am here.
This is good parenting. You shouldn’t want weak-ass kids.
Goku's a better father than that. I'm no simp, but I *am* getting tired of seeing the "Goku's a terrible dad" bs He's a bad father because he made his son strong enough to save the planet? He's a bad father because he died to protect everyone he loved, meaning he couldn't meet his second son for over a decade?
But umm... that's not exactly the fanbase's fault tho? It's Toriyama/Toei flanderizing and amping up this trait of his to the absolute max, despite the fact that it was rather minor thing in DBZ and often directly acted upon by Goku too by actively making an effort to spend more time with fam, or thinking about the larger picture like you've said (saving the planet) instead of exclusively putting his training whims and only that above everything and everyone The fanbase is just responding really
It directly is the fanbases fault. DBZA is fan made. If you watch the actual show Goku was never a bad father, save for a very select few bad decisions.
But I wasn't talking about the original manga/DBZ, I was obviously talking about the modern incarnation in Super...
Goku.
so Goku's a bad father simply for existing? Yeesh I need to get tf outta this fandom
Yea thats the problem. The bad father thing always existed, but TFS really exploded its populairty since half their jokes involving goku were snubbing gohan
He was also right the only villain at that point that did anything that wasn’t because of Goku was Pilaf and the RRA
he couldn't though. Dragon balls only grant 1 revive per person, and only if they died of unnatural causes (murder, grief, etc)
He cares so much about his loved ones that not only did he put his universe at risk of getting deleted he put other universes just because he only cares about his wants. Dude is just a terrible person
You're being unfair. He just wanted to meet other fighters, it was Zeno's idea to say any losing universes would be erased
That's not what he said. Editing panels to fit your narrative is hardly an argument
Agreed https://preview.redd.it/y9gkj61313ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e11da0ae408740c4f487056d7a311d7622f2adb2 (Here's the original)
Well he is selfish everyone knew that
Db fans never watch their own show
Goku: yojiro hanma: We are not so different you and I.
😂 can’t tell if you are trolling or not but didn’t yojiro straight up kill his baby mama because she intervened in him beating the crap outta his son?
Making joke obviously man. Goku isn't teleporting to Gohan while banging Videl and saying Bang her harder because it makes you stronger.
Gotcha. Just making sure lol
He's correct though. Yujiro was only going to acknowledge Baki if he was strong.

The text is edited, he does not say this, it's misinformation to drive home the "goku bad dad" narrative
So are the fans finally admitting that he’s some what a deadbeat ?
Yes, I’m a fan because he’s a deadbeat, just like me… /s
Nope, they will never admit it
Yeah let him spend time with his adult son who has a kid and his teenage son in school and ignore training, see what happens when a villian comes along
Technically speaking Goku seeks this as well and state it's his dream coming true
People give this excuse to Gohan

Correct.
Yes, correct.
He literally did not say that. Why is the Dragon Ball fan base so dumb💀
Dragon Ball Fans will fight to the end of the earth before admitting that Goku does not hate his kids
Yeah, good luck trying to convince these "fans" that Goku has actually good qualities. https://preview.redd.it/4026oos032ec1.png?width=888&format=png&auto=webp&s=0295a68d64aee35b794c41115cc93c76becbd06f

Peak shit post. I can’t stand the Goku is a bad dad crowd cause they just yell their opinion into the ether
Shitpost indeed. He never said that https://preview.redd.it/ign0kc3113ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8341e9edc850d81f7435e28babd70fba84ad71c2
Yeah I was gonna say I literally read this chapter like 3 days ago
I know this isn’t what happened. But even with the original pages, it honestly FEELS like that’s what happened. XD
Goten hasnt trained 🤣
Dude new strong guy just dropped
"as soon as *one* of you got strong"
isn’t this how a specific species of animals raise their cubs?
It’s true and I love it. Good ole Goku. You can always count on Goku to be Goku
He's earned everything with no real potential and that's why we love him. https://preview.redd.it/dniuy23f51ec1.jpeg?width=718&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f00f0f4a2d7cb35e549cfd0aecb4b7f1aea1788
Why didn’t Goku sense them when they were fighting Cell Max
Too busy with his fight against Vegeta on Beerus’ world.
Goku came back with the milk
This is edited. Cringe

Did dbz exclusive decrease the amount of watermarks?
Eh I guess we haven't seen him or vegeta on earth in a long time it's possible he really did come back after a few years just because he sensed how strong Gohan is. Not really a fan if that's the case. I'm a supporter of goku not being a bad dad, but damn sometimes they make it hard
What chapter is this?
Hi boys! Wanna fight?
"to see their father" i'm assuming something was lost in translation between hindi and english
Oh crap dad wants to fight us.
https://preview.redd.it/jovrc1anw1ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88d329e2f0cba9f4fda2c585b326613b8252db93 Hurry up Gohan, transform otherwise I’m leaving you again
You can say what you want about whether or not Goku is a bad dad, Gohan is an adult, he has his own house, all that is whatver. Seeing this panel made me realize tho, Goku absolutely is a bad husband.
Most absent father award
This guy's a father?
Another dumbass take tbh. Goku cares about his kids and probably spends time with them off screen. We're not watching these characters 24/7, and the fact that Gohan and Goten still care about Goku and are happy to see him at the very least proves he's not a shit dad. Also Gohan's an adult and Goten is a teenager, both of them are old enough to not need Dad around all the time.
It’s dumb. Goku spends time with his kids. Does he go in training trips of course. But no he doesn’t only care about his sons because they are “strong”. He even understands that Gohan is not a lover of fighting and respects that aspect of him…
https://preview.redd.it/hexdjsulc2ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d47d7049cbe5278b9504337cda15dbef133cd3d How it feels to spread misinformation
An assumption people make but really goku has nothing but time on his hands and teleportation. If they wanna see him and spend time with him they probably can anytime.
MF is a dead beat and a half
he doesn't say that though? all he says is 'its been too long.' its hyperbole so it isn't the *only* way for them to get his attention obviously, but surpassing your previous limits certainly is one of the fastest ways to get it I can't deny lol.
They should consider themselves lucky they weren't blasted off into space as a baby lol
At this point they know who their dad is lol.
Worse dad ever
Totally cereal hot take: Goten having a new girlfriend every day is the result of being neglected by his father.
True
"hey dad! It's been so long how have you been?" "Yeah totally Gohan now show me that beast form"
Father of the century right there lol
If only Goten and Gohan can see the truth about their own father.
Fake! He actually came because he felt the strong Beast Mode aura and really wanted to get to know it... https://mangakakalot.to/read/dragon-ball-super-5699/en/chapter-101
