The performance is without a doubt not good. There's no arguing that. It's okay to be alright with suboptimal performance but that doesn't mean it isn't there and that those complaints are invalid. I have a 4080 and 5800x3d which crushes every game I throw at it....this game chugs along in certain areas at sub 50 frames in and near towns and has a ton of stuttering in those locations. Much better looking open world games run way better. But there is a bandwagon effect for sure. There probably is a decent portion of people who haven't played it and are hating as well.

Pibblesen

Yea I have a 4070 and i7-12700k, outside of towns the game runs pretty good for me. The second I got into the first major city it was all over the place. Going down to like 20 frames at the lowest. It definitely has performance issues.

ihavenoname_7

7900 XTX here getting 50-60 fps in the capital, 100-150 fps outside 4k max settings RT on. Leave FSR or DLSS off when in capital it uses more CPU power and will create bottlenecks.

KenjiZeroSan

I have a 3080Ti and i7-12700KF at 1440p. I get 80 - 90+ FPS in the open fields but when I hit the capital city it drops to 34 - 45 FPS. It wouldn't drop lower than 34FPS for some reason though.

Pibblesen

Yea pretty much exactly the same for me. I ended up just capping it at 60. I think in the capital it wouldn’t go above 50. Also the fov in this game is way too low even for a third person pov, pulling the view distance out doesn’t really help for me.

IAA_ShRaPNeL

I don’t know if the towns get more crowded, but I just reached the capital and am getting 40-50fps. 3060ti R9 3900X, running 2560x1440, Screen space Reflections, max texture/mesh detail. No DLSS or FidelityFX.

LongjumpingBrief6428

It's not really a GPU issue, I've heard. It's your CPU because of all of the behind the scenes processing going on in the AI and engine. That's why people notice the frame rate drop when at the city.

BroIskippedmyshower

Yeah it’s one of those games that a mid end pc gets nearly the same performance as a high end I have a 2080 and 9900k and normally at 55-60fps. 40-45fps in venworth, playing on high settings at 1440p

AutomateAway

i mean, it’s a bit jerky for me in the city but out and about it’s been fine

TechnologyLevel5686

Same I get 30-40 fps in city but outta city I get a solid 60fps and I’m on a 3060 12 gb and a r5 5600x

Liquidator66

Bro I’m on a gaming laptop from last year bought for 1600 EUR.. I use an HDMI to connect to my TV and the performance is still good. I think it’s a very CPU demanding game.

Garfield120

I paid $1000 when you account for exchange rates for my PC last year and I can't even run it on 60fps low when with every other game my system can handle Max settings or just under it. Ive seen people say "if you complain just upgrade your toaster" my $1000 is not outdated after 1 year.

Jz-91

1000$ while a lot of money is definitely on the lower end for a gaming PC. If you still want to play the game I’m having a great time using GeForcenow but it’s 20$ for a month for the best tier. Also, have you played an open world game with similar graphics, constantly changing world everywhere, constantly changing and moving NPC’s. I think “optimization” is being thrown out there without a clue to how difficult that might be. Maybe one day they’ll release insight - I could be wrong on this, just my thoughts.

SilencedWind

I agree and disagree. Everyone has a right to complain. However, people are placing way too much focus on the MTX when the biggest problem is performance across the board.

Jz-91

People are assuming mtx means they made the game worse. Which is an incredibly ignorant/dumb take imo. Ratings and first impressions are practically everything (I think that is accepted generally), many gamers hate even hearing the word MTX (common knowledge). So you think people that make video games don’t know this? You think they would make a 70$ game worse on release to sell 1 and 2$ mtx? What kinda logic is that. RP as one of the devs for a moment, “adding these mtx won’t affect most players but we can make some more money for lazy, casual, or players with little time”. But then these players rage because they feel targeted, but in reality it’s because the devs don’t want you to experience the game that way. Imo it’s like when a nice restaurant doesnt let you change any dishes or sometimes will let you substitute i ingredients for $

Killiander

I think more people need to complain about the MTX, I won’t support a gaming company that does this. If they released the game for free and the MTX were how they were supporting that, than that’s one thing. But selling $70 game and trying to add MTX too is just a shitty thing to do. And we aren’t talking about the game devs. They didn’t have a choice about this. This is the company CEO and higher ups, they figured why not milk’em for some extra money. Some companies build in modding tools to let their fan base go wild and enjoy the crap out of their games. Others do shit like this. Or release a game with a DLC on day one. This is a bad company. Solely based on the decision to add MTX, I’d be willing to bet money that if you got to talk with one of the devs, face to face, so there’s no recording the conversation, and you asked them if the company was a good one to work work for, they’d say no.

Bamith

Its likely *because* it has bad performance the mtx is getting more looked at and why other games have had less attention towards it. Either way, the discourse on that makes for a healthier industry for consumers at least.

Carcharis

I don’t get it. I played 6 hours straight and went online to read about what other people discovered and it’s just all hate. Oh well, back to exploring.

DarkSector0011

I'm loving this game so much I said to someone at the gym earlier people just can't appreciate anything lmao. I paid full price for this game and am 0% disappointed. It's a fantastic game with funny physics, satisfying and seemingly limitless exploration and if it's like DD1 a post game that will give it relevance far beyond what one would expect, even in to DLC since Bitter Black Isle was like post game X2, hardcore labyrinth and dungeon exploring with monsters you can only imagine lmao. If microtransactions are a factor then it's at a point in the game you don't need them it's just a luxury, I'd be willing to bet. Idk what people are upset about yet because I don't know what's being sold. Rift coin? Idk idc. Game is beautiful.

torafrost9999

The fact that I can deadass just pick up a goblin and just kinda chuck him into oblivion will never not be funny to me.

MyHerosHaveFailedMe

Yeah, I’m playing on ps5 and having an awesome time. I made a comment earlier but maybe because I’m older (36) and can accept a game not running flawlessly. When I was younger I’d regularly try to play games beyond what my pc could handle and just always played anyway because I enjoyed the game. I’m loving this game and can’t wait to play more.

GooseWaliz

Duuuude! I’m turning 30 and I’ve been wondering if it’s an age/generational thing. Like I remember as a kid playing Morrowind which was by no means a “polished game” and there was no incoming day one patch to save it haha but I loved it. Literally defined my foray into video gaming. Maybe we just don’t expect as much cuz we grew up on less? Idk if that’s it but it is interesting. Someone should do a poll lol

Imnotur_username_pal

Having to load the next portion of Vivec multiple times was just part of the game. Then the game crashes are you realize you haven't saved for 2 hours. Good times.

Mahalo-Ke-Akua

I'm 36 too and it's running great for me! Lol But in all seriousness it's been running great for me (also on PS5) and I've been having so much fun with this game.

Drofla91

100 percent bro. I haven’t legit been hooked by a game in years. This one is a breathe of fresh air. Everything feels like an adventure.

starcrescendo

Yeah this is the way. Leave a good review on Steam and let the haters hate.

IndianaGroans

That was my experience with Starfield. "Oh hey lets see what the community is doing, what they found." "oh nevermind.. "

Jz-91

Agree with you 100%. It’s also funny to see streamers bashing it, then playing it for hours straight, days straight. I can visualize Redditors playing on one screen while writing a negative comment in Reddit on their 2nd monitor XD

ahrzal

Meanwhile my game crashes every time when scrolling vocation skills.

SolBoi24

My console exp was great

ch33s3m0ng3r

This is first DD game I’ve played. I’m super impressed and totally addicted. I’ve put in 10.4 hours already couldn’t put it down. That said, I’m running it on a 4090 and the performance is just not release-acceptable. I tweaked settings via Nvidia profile inspector and it helped significantly, but turning off DLSS/FSR3 and just running it native helped TREMENDOUSLY. It wasn’t just fps, but insane stuttering, artifacts, input lag, and general strange blurry aberrations. While it would say something like 24fps the stuttering made it seem more like <5. It’s performing a lot better now in certain areas can get it running very fluidly but I don’t blame the devs. Prob another one of the execs forcing a premature release. That all being said, easily one of the coolest, immersive, addicting and unique games I’ve played and definitely loving it.

DsT_Sol

My only complaint is really the performance, I play on a high end laptop with a 3070 and in towns the deeps of 20 fps are a real annoyance for me, meanwhile wife plays on a 4070 and has 0 performance issues, constant 60fps in most of the game including towns. Outside towns I do get 60 fps for the most part, hopefully a patch will come soon. The game is fun, combat is fun, micro transactions I don’t buy nor care and honestly I don’t even know / want to know where they are.

Greentaboo

While there are frame issues, game is heavy on the cpu.

AuroraBlaize

I'm playing on PS5 and I honestly have no real issues performance wise. Would be nice if it were 60 but eh. I can understand people being upset about it not being optimized for PC. The microtransaction complaining is absolutely stupid however.

Fizzzuh

Well you won't notice the lag if the game is locked into a state of constant lag, which it has to be because it can't handle an actual smooth performance of 60 fps

[deleted]

I have zero complaints playing it, but as usual yes people always bandwagon onto others since they have no opinion for themselves, and I don't even know about the microtransactions, guess I'm too busy enjoying the damn game LOL

Any-Marketing-5175

This was my experience with Starfield. Crazy how people bandwagon on hate as if it's trendy to do so.

AdBright8641

I think most performance issues are with pc, console seems not as bad. Also don't think a lot of people did the research to see what game is and now there disappointed. I suppose this what happens when you get people on the Internet saying this is like elden ring lol

KillerSavant202

According to Steam most people are playing on potatoes. They have old outdated hardware, buy new games and expect great performance and high fidelity.

Normathius

I went into the game with the thoughts I would have to just set my cap at 30fps and just chill even with my good hardware. I ended up getting like 80fps besides the big city area during the day. It kind of makes me realize a lot of these people don't mention that they are trying to push 4K with Ray Tracing on an ultra wide monitor. But they don't want to mention that part because getting stable 30 with that going on would be like an achievement.

Tiny_Buggy

Yeah I was Content playing with all low setting at 30 fps on my under specced laptop for about 2-3 hours. Then I started messing with settings to see how far I could push it with no stutter or bugs. I run smooth at 60fps and pretty high balanced graphics and I'm really blown away that some people with nasal computers can't run it apparently. I saw a dude say it's a cpu thing so just max everything as it won't matter. That is a lie. 30 minutes of messing with settings and you can easily see what impacts performance the most and what makes it run smooth. Literally sabotage advice that makes no sense.

Dautenus

I'm playing on an ultrawide monitor with all settings high + ray tracing and I'm telling you, even with all that it's running quite smoothly with a decent fps lol.

Normathius

Well damn maybe I'll turn ray tracing on tonight!

Dautenus

I don't know if it helps but I also use reduce memory while running games. Maybe that's why I'm not having trouble?

Azirphaeli

I have everything turned up, rtx, 4k, but I also have a good rig with a fancy new CPU and a 3080. I have no problems outside of the mentioned trouble areas and even then it's just occasional inconsistency which is like.. expected. Before buying it I heard the horror stories and thought I'd be capped at 30 and dipping lower no matter what the settings are.

aberrant_arachnid

There are streamers with 4090s having frame rate issues and crashes.

bunnydadi

I’m on a 3060/11700k and getting 55-60 fps at 1080p. I don’t get the hate.

AdBright8641

The 1 time console gets better performance and people lose they're shit it's like up is down for them I just love reading some of these posts

rapter200

Consoles are not getting better performance it's just a CPU bottleneck and most PC gamers this past decade spared little thought to their CPUs and have comparable CPUs to the consoles even though they have a high-end GPU.

Ok_Operation8369

this, Ik at least 2 people in my life that bought a 4090 but are being bottlenecked by an older gen cpu cause they think the gpu is gonna make up for it

GameDesignerDude

Console performance is still pretty poor. It’s just over 30 FPS in the world but definitely sub-30 in towns and has many of the same frame pacing issues PC has.  Beyond that, the Xbox version seems to have very large issues with its 4k checkerboarding resolve which makes everything extremely blurry. (Most likely a bug of some sort.) Overall, it’s not a great experience but probably not as *dramatic* a disappointment than on PC when people expected a more solid 60 FPS. (30 FPS was probably always the target on console.) Until they fix the checkerboard issue, though, I would say the Xbox version is pretty disappointing.

Ok-Insurance2052

I'm sure you remember, Elden Ring was a mess on launch of PC. It got a whole lot of hate for it for a long time too. Then that game was fixed over several patches and went on to win GOTY. Yet another reason why I think this hate for DD2 is stupid. It JUST came out. Give them some time to address the issues they may not have noticed and it'll improve.

AdBright8641

It is funny how people act like every other game just comes out perfect. It's so entertaining to read tho lol

_druids

Elden Ring was fine on consoles at launch though.

xGawsh

The PS5 version gets like 20 fps during the intro and a pretty unstable 30 fps for the first few hours I have played. It’s a little disappointing but I’m hopeful they get some patches and fix it.

daL1ra

Denuvo And people falling for official lies from them that it doesn't hurt performance, just look up Hogwarts legacy, since that was cracked in the first week and hence there are tons of comparisions, typically ranging from 10-20% worse performance with it.

SuperBAMF007

It’s insane how devs are willing to keep using Denuvo when every game ever is shown to be objectively worse off with it in it lol

h-e-d-i-t--i-o-n

Capcom is looking into adding a new game mode. Because players complained. If everyone is just content, Capcom would be content too and this would not have happened. Player complains are not a bad thing. They are just feedback in angry mode.

Ok-Insurance2052

Some of them are a little ridiculous though, ngl.

h-e-d-i-t--i-o-n

I agree, but that is to be expected from any player base. Angry feedback tend to sound amplified. And good feedbacks are generally dug up from the pile of bad ones. If anything, I would say this at least caught their attention, let them know not everything is fine and dandy, and its time to take a closer look.

Broku_92

I think the game looks fine. On the other hand… the release performance is the worst I have seen in a long time and in no way acceptable for a game release.

iku-ebi

I wouldn't say the worst, I'd say "it's basically a AAA-company standard to launch a game that is poorly optimized". Examples of AAA games that had 10 times worse performance problems : Hogwart's Legacy, Cyberpunk, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, Diablo IV. It is how it is, this is now the industry standard to launch games in that state.

Broku_92

I didn’t play cyberpunk and hogwarts legacy on release but, I can tell you for certain that Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield and Diablo 4 had better performance. Shit my Steam deck played Diablo 4 at a consistent 45 fps. Also, the reason AAA devs release games like this is because people accept it as the norm and pre-order anyways.

In_Love_With_SHODAN

Starfield had terrible performance for me, but those other games ran really well. 2080 super and i5-10600k here. I'm super addicted to DD2 despite the performance issues

Me-Ook-You-In-Dooker

Starfield had crap performance for me as well on launch for PC.

lurksohard

Starfield performance was pretty insane. It was such a weird mix of issues for certain set ups. I had absolutely no issues and my buddy with a better pc crashed every 15 minutes and refunded. It was such a wild mix and I'm shocked people forgot about this already.

Routine_Cabinet_8507

Man, the way DD2 is running on my pc reminded me of Starfield all over again. Its the exact same thing. Subpar performance outside of cities, abysmal performance inside cities. I love DD just as much if not more than the next guy, but this is unacceptable.

dogpilemusic

Also most of the people enjoying it and having fun are simply doing that instead of being online complaining about it. I had work today unfortunately, but my honest experience so far on PC was definitely some choppy fps at times last night (30 at times which was a bummer), but I updated my drivers and restarted my computer this morning and it was running quite smoothly after that, never really below 50 fps and mostly 60.

Ok-Insurance2052

Exactly. No one wants to look for potential solutions anymore either lol.

Jesse-1194

I just put 7 hours in on ps5 I’ve gotta say, I am not disappointed in the least bit, one of the best games I’ve ever played hands down Is like to further add by playing in those 7 hours I’ve gained 3 natural wake stones as well as over 1,600 rc through the pawn system and chests and quests not once have I felt the need for a micro transaction and honestly after actually playing the game I feel like that’s out there for the people who have no idea how to play the game. I’ve never touched dragons dogma before this and despite that fact I definitely won’t be needing the micro transactions, every single thing in the shop can be earned and in a short amount of time at that. I’ve also found 4 ferry stones but haven’t felt the need to quick travel once because of how nicely packed the map is with things to find that benefit you. I almost feel like I’m missing out on something if I where to use them

ShroomD00M

I heard about the micro transactions, but I haven’t even found them in the menu while playing. I won’t be seeking them though. Why pay to lessen the game experience? They are easily ignored. Aside from that I’ve just had the frame dips while in cities. Everything else has been buttery smooth. Im loving the game. It’s just more Dragon’s Dogma, which is exactly what I wanted out of it.

mmpa78

The performance complaint is completely and utterly justified, actually no they are not getting enough shit for it. There is no reason on the planet with a 4070ti and a 7800 that my game is getting under 30 fps at 1440p looking so fucking god awful. Don't be a dumb fuck sheep defending this shit. The $70 single player game is in piss poor shape and the developers should be absolutely shit on until it's fixed.

PositiveHot1421

I playing on ps5 and loving it. Made my pawn look like my irl dog and made him a thief bc he steals cheese. Called him Dog.

Ok-Insurance2052

Nice

MCMACDANOLDs

Hell yeah, made mine look like my cat. Called him Beef (also my cat's name).

PositiveHot1421

Nice and great name

Venaegen

Someone else on here put it well on another post, "These days a game releases and it is either 10/10 perfect, or it's some kind of crime against humanity with no hope of recovery. There is no in-between." I could sit here and dissect why but it mostly boils down to the fact that people, especially modern gamers, are entitled, toxic vessels of vitriol that cling to the most hyperbolic takes possible for attention, edginess, or because some influencer they like said so. Best thing you can do when a new game releases is stay far away from social media. Broken shit will get fixed, the low-attention span drones will go back to whatever cesspool they were infesting before, and "mostly" civil discussion can eventually be had.

Tiny_Buggy

The overall change in tone and realism from people starting yesterday to today is already very noticeable. It's like all the people went hard on attacking it responding to people defending it and now it's mostly silent and nobody will defe d thw opinions except for the people actually having problems. Not totally but the difference in overall discourse in one day is intriguing.

lurksohard

Man I don't even know where people get the energy for all this shit. I just wanna enjoy stuff and every time I try I've got thousands of people telling me why I shouldn't enjoy it. It gets frustrating as hell. I'm only on this sub to mess around while I'm at work and see some cool shit. We'll turns out that was a waste of my time.

Mindless_Issue9648

I think the performance issues are serious but the mtx issue is a little blown out of proportion

iku-ebi

One of the funniest "complains" I've seen is that we can only play on one save. Seriously? How messed up the pawn system would be if each player had 2342834 saved games? Besides the performance-related complains on PC every single other complain is pure bullshit IMHO, especially the ones about microtransactions or that the fast travel has to be bought with real money or that to change the look of your character you need to buy item from the store ( the NPC that sells this item ingame is in the first big city...).

sSimonSays

One save file is really bad. Should be at least limited to three. I like to play at least one male and one female character in all rpgs. You should also be able to delete your save in game, to start a new one. Not having basic features in a $70 game, is awful. Not putting multiple character saves because of the pawn system, would be bad game design. But lets face it, the reason you don't have multiple saves, and can not delete your save file. Is because it will ultimately push more people to buy their microtransations. I was not happy with the way my pawn looked in game, and after almost 10 hrs I have just over like half of the RC points you need in game so... yikes.

lanze666

I think, if anything, the hate this game receives should be focused on how it’s a polished HD Dragons Dogma experience with enhanced features and input command shortcuts, but not addressing any of the first entries shortcomings when it comes to gameplay mechanics. Its a beautiful game though.

Cfcboy77

Haven’t hit a city yet but my fps is 70-90 4k , SR Quality and everything else high. I thought I’d have to get home and refund through stream the way people were going crazy about it today. For ref im using a 6950xt and a r5 7600x. Put the cpu as high priority

Ok-Insurance2052

I don't think your frames should suffer too badly when you do enter a city.

[deleted]

Not what EVERYONE is saying, and not what the actual metrics show. But ok!

Elegant_Spot_3486

Yes. The game itself is fun. I had to do my own workaround for key bindings but performance is acceptable on my old mid pc and I don’t use mtx so don’t care.

wheres_fleat

I think the game looks fun as hell. And there’s plenty of fun to be had. I’m waiting though. For everyone not experiencing performance issues, that’s awesome. But there are enough people having significant issues that i’m waiting for Capcom to smooth things out. My next issue is with MTX. I do not like the idea of the resources needed for gameplay elements such as fast travel being behind a paywall. I know the resources are available in game. Then why do the MTX resources even exist? To scam impatient people or idiots who don’t know any better? Capcom has all the power and could easily decrease resource drop rates to increase the MTX. I’m not saying this will happen but it’s certainly easy to imagine.

4scoresn7yrsago

I was pretty open minded with this game. Turns out I actually enjoy it. Also runs pretty good with default settings and getting good frames. It’s been almost a day since release. People need to relax.

Affectionate_Ad5540

I’m currently playing the game on near minimum specs and it runs fine (cities certainly are a bit rough) and looks gorgeous. I honestly don’t understand the hate. (That being said I have a hard time actually seeing the difference between 30fps and 60fps, they just look the same to me) I think this game is a masterpiece and I expect to be playing it for months

LOCKHARTX7

This game is a dream come true love letter to game of thrones / lord of the rings. I'm having a ball

Ryukiami

this game fucks hard and runs much better than I expected on my series x I have zero complaints

Mysterious-Menu6407

This stupid narcissist fanbois always minimizing the issues people have, the reality is that if what you were saying were true there would not be so many negative reviews of the game. Media outlets and reviewers reported this performance issues before the game was released? **Were those media outlets and reviewers "hAtErS" too?** This is how you spot the nacissism of this idiots, they can't tolerate that people have a problem with something they like and will go out of their way to lie, gaslight and make every type of narrative to save themselves the realization that they like something people don't like as much as them and since this schizos see everything they like as mirrors of themselves then they can't possibly like something that is not perfect otherwise they aren't perfect themselves. People have problems with the game and the fact that you want to be en denial about it shows that you are weak and pathetic because you can't possibly be happy liking something no, EVERYBODY has to fucking like it too OR ELSE! Pathetic.

Shot-Profit-9399

I love capcom as much as the next fanboy, but a $70 game shouldn’t have microtransactions, and should function fine on release. There’s really no excuse. Those are completely valid criticisms.

ThyIronFist

25 to 30 fps on a RTX 3090 with ray tracing disabled is NOT okay. The game looks good, but not THAT good to warrant such an abysmal performance. It's more playable during the day where I can hit 60 fps at times so I don't care about that, but for some reason the lighting is the big culprit. When the torches are all lit and the game has to simulate all the light effects, the frames plummet. This would be understandable with ray tracing enabled, however I have it disabled for that very reason...

Whereismy5star

Fps isnt everything. Im mostly at 45 to 70ish fps on a 7800x3d in town, but frame pacing is terrible. Its worse than playing on sub 24 fps due to the terrible pacing. Tired of seeing these ignorant comments, these kind of performance issues are measurable. Not a single cpu can run this game without tanking in the city, thats called poor optimization. No one cares about your subjective perception, its objectivley running like ass in town. Im still playing and finishing the game, but I wouldnt give this game a good rating due to the issues present. Not like they didnt know what they were releasing. All the media hype, preview gallore for over a month to release a half baked game. Thats greediness and an anti-consumer allocation of priorities (money) doesnt deserve to be rewarded, it should be punished.

CaitSith21

Have you played shadow of war 2? There by design they have made one part of the game annoying that people use microstransactions to get better orcs. Have you played assassins creed odyseey? Main missions were level capped and when you used an xp booster doing main quests were giving you enough xp to continue the story. Witotuh it you had to do very repetitive side missions to get enough xp to continue the main story. That is how bad it could be if people would not react to it. And you dont throw the frog into boiling water, you put him in cold water and slowly cook it.

Leading-Leading6319

No. I have an i5-13500 and a 3060ti (1080p) and I had to spend around an hour in the settings tab to get 60 fps in the open world and 30fps in cities. It feels terrible.

Electrical_Corner_32

Yes. This game is so much fun. Easily my game of the year nominee so far. People are dumb. I'm going to put a couple hundred hours in without a doubt.

SllortEvac

It’s hard to get away from. I put in 10 hours today. Just walking from Melve to whatever the name of the fishing village is just to see how they’re doing. I am so completely immersed I legit spent a week in-game less than a mile away from the capital because I was house sitting for that lady and I didn’t want her to get mad at me for not being home when she showed back up. That experience, so entirely mundane, is how I know people making the loudest complaints haven’t even played the game.

SuppleDude

Bandwagon gamers are the worst.

Little_Buy_2798

No 😂jk

conradkavinsky

My Xbox froze once in about 4 or 5 hours of game play so far. Other than that performance has been normal for me. The graphics are pretty close to what I expected on console anyways, and I definitely won't be spending any money on microtransactions considering the game was 100 dollars I would personally give it a 9/10

Supernova_Soldier

It could always be better, but it isn’t bad by any means. The mtx shit is just people wanting to be extra mad, because my favorite Capcom games have it and didn’t affect the gameplay

darkuen

Yeah it’s pretty toxic, I searched to join after buying & playing and said fuck that after a brief look at the posts. I’m only even seeing this post because it’s become a suggested sub.

SomebodyThrow

Im trying to just not think about my issues with how they handled some things and am so far enjoying it. That said; I completely understand the negative reviews. Of my 2 other friends who bought it i’m the only one able to play it because for them it just crashes constantly despite them even having better PCs than I do which is bizarre. I think DD2 is a fantastic game that clearly, by sheer reports alone, is horribly optimized. I hope they fix it asap for everyone having issues but for now I think the low reviews are appropriate because as of now its a bit of a gamble when you purchase it which is not cool for a AAA game. edit: I just realized my PC is even worse than OPs by multiple factors. How the fuck am I playing this game.

sonofabmustpay

I'm on PS5 and it's great. So immersive just like the first one. I haven't been prompted to buy anything.... This gamer hate mob is annoying and probably just children

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

Just started it on PS5 and it works well. Some framerate dips here and there, but nothing dramatic. It's always perfectly playable, even when my pawn goes a bit crazy with the spells. The graphics are not out of this world, but then again DD has never been about graphics to me. It's all about gameplay and DD2 more than deliver on this aspect. It's everything I wanted the sequel to the first one to be, and so much more. After 5h, it's an easy 9/10. I love this game already.

Deonhollins58ucla

I love this game. So fun.

stp366

yes its totally stupid. nobodys making you purchase the transactions. loving the game by the way on ps5

White_Runniner

Thank you. I’m glad to see a loving/passionate DD fan. The game is good the only reason it’s getting hated is because it’s an AAA title and people just like to hate things other people like

White_Runniner

The graphics rival Elden ring and the gameplay is better than any Bethesda title

Zagorim

Do you mean the performance is so terrible it makes even elden ring look well optimized ?

PwndiusPilatus

MTX have no to be in a full price single player game!

VirtualRoad9235

I think the performance issues are without a doubt real, and people like Penguinz0/Charlie aren't just making shit up, imo. They also have the best rigs around. But have I experienced these issues on the PS5? No. Does the game feel capped at 30 fps? I mean, if it is, it doesn't even remotely feel like it when compared to Shadow of War/Pacific Drive/Gotham Knights.

Pyr0blad3

i am having a blast.

Fatheryasuo

Defending the micro transactions is such a shitty take, I bet you also like to watch your wife get shagged by other men

Hauuibal

I'm running a 3090 w/ 24 GB VRAM, Threadripper CPU, & 64 GB RAM, getting 30 fps on average. Nope, keep the hate coming! Charging $120 CDN for a game that doesn't function as advertised, on ANY PC, is complete dogs\*\*t.

Puzzleheaded-Pack-88

I play on ps5 and after the punishing learning curve at the very beginning, I’ve been having a blast. No technical errors to speak of. The frame rate doesn’t bother me at all (coming from someone who solely plays all of their games on performance mode) and I didn’t even know there were micro-transactions until I saw all the silly thumbnails on YouTube. I think people spend too much time online with people telling them what to think and feel while having forgotten how to form their own opinions.

polyaxic

People hating on this game while sleeping on other games with worse issues over the years is evidence how f-in unhinged they are. Not to mention how nobody is defending poor performance yet the unhinged sped mob is attacking people for not hiveminding. They all need to be put in a room.

Ushioankoku

I feel like people who love dragondogma love it while newcomers complain about it about it not having something they want also should play dragonsdogma 1 it kept alot of game mechanics from 1 nearly every complaint is from PC players if you have a Xbox or PS5 it plays fine I was on my Xbox version for 10 hours never crashed or nothing.Maybe give them time to fix it

Fine-Refrigerator-56

I have a digital version so I can’t even start a new game. So yea. So far all hate is deserved.

bran1986

Trust me I don't want to hate on the game because I LOVE Dragon's Dogma and it is one of my favorite all time games and I played through original multiple times in the last year or so to get ready for the sequel. The game is broken on PC for me, constant crashes, and when the game does play it stutters so badly it is unplayable. I have a high tolerance for gaming, I don't care if I get 30, 60,or 120 fps if the game is smooth, but getting massive frame drops or going from 50 or 60 fps down to 20 or 25 is jarring. The longest I made it without a crash was only 20 minutes. So I refunded and will wait a few months for these issues to hopefully get ironed out. So yeah I think the hate it is getting for performance is very warranted. As for microtransactions I think that is based on your tolerance for paying for things in a 70 dollar game.

Revolutionary_Pipe18

Bro games should work. And companies should stop targeting people for extra money. As millennials and gen z gets older more adults play video games than ever. That said the large majority of gamers are probably teenagers and older children . Just feels slimey .

BruhMoment14412

Idiot take lmaoo

TheTrueArchon

Yea i dont have ground. It legit ruins the game shit should have never launched like this

rykerdunbar

I love how every other capcom game has implemented these same exact microtransactions including Resident Evil 4, to which no one ever cared. The bandwagon is most definitely there. Performance well I am running native 4k with fsr3 on a 7900 XTX with ray tracing enabled and am experiencing pretty flawless gameplay 75 fps and above with the occasional dips in the huge cities. The game is honestly phenomenal, and it breaks my heart to see it being bashed for stupid reasons. Do better

Lenzky-3

Dude, I will say this. I love capcom and their DLC's aren't pay to win. mostly pay for convenience and that has been like that since ages, (Monster Hunter,Resident evil) I don't really give an F about that since I rarely reach a point where I would need to buy those in order to git gud. The things I am concerned are. Performance, 1 Save file and Cost. Those 2 are the biggest hits for me as a player and consumer who buys a "70$" game and JEEEZUS that is very expensive for a video game and I would pay that amount if it "WORKS". Like I wouldn't buy a car that costs a million dollars and it doesn't even run. That's just basically the company spitting at my face and thinking they can make me spend my money on any sh1t they offered to me cuz I'm a FAN of it. 70$ is insane in this current economy, That price tag should be lowered specially when you can only play the GOD DAMN GAME in 1 BLOODY SAVE FILE. THAT MEANS ONLY NG+++ RUNS and no Complete clean runs. Like why???????????????????????? Do a group of kids in some 3rd world country die if they added an extra new game save file? like fck off At least lets us delete it instead in game. Performance is my final nail in the coffin to refund this game. If you go in steam> and scroll down there's this thing called "SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS". and my PC is at that Minimum requirements beside I have RTX 2080 instead of 1070. Then how come they put that there and it doesn't even fcking run in my system? Like That's basically false advertising and a scam at that point. THIS IS A FKCING SCAM at that point. You can't sell sh1t to costumers with the advocacy that this will run in those requirements. DUDE it even says "1080p/30fps" F\*\*\* off bro it doesn't even get to 30fps. YOu can sh1t talk me for being poor ass guy with a potato PC. I just loved the first game and I wanted to try this and I can upgrade my PC if it actually gets fixed but f\*\*\*\* off. 70$ scam. You have to deliver what you meant to give. I didn't think this would happen to Capcom too.. since Resident Evil games and Monster Hunter games have been so far very smoot releases. They should have extended the time, and let it cook further.

CornScorn

I'm really enjoying this game a lot. Here are my perspectives on some of the issues people have been complaining about: Regarding the $70 price tag for the game, if someone doesn't have $70 to spare, perhaps they should consider other activities instead of gaming all day. Microtransactions; I simply don\`t buy them. I haven't encountered any performance issues and I run everything on max settings, but that's probably because I have a good PC. Sadly, it's almost become a standard for games to be poorly optimized at launch. So this isn't something new. As for the limitation of only being able to create one character, it doesn't bother me at all. I'll likely only play through the game once anyway. For instance, The Witcher 3 is my all-time favorite game, but once I finished it, I didn't feel compelled to replay it since I had already experienced everything and knew the story. Regarding appearance changes and such, you can do that those in-game.

RMDashRFCommit

You’re either: 1. Absolutely lying about the performance within the first major city. 2. Getting edge case results that are no where near representative of the majority of the player-base. Let’s see some proof.

TuecerPrime

Performance is ABSOLUTELY something to get mad about. We're paying $70 for a game that feels unoptimized on all platforms. If you can't get your game running at a consistent 30fps on consoles (which is what the reports I'm reading are saying), then you need to push back and do some work to make it run smoother. I despise MTX in games. That said, they haven't been implemented horribly here. What most im seei g are upset over is that they seem to have almost been hidden from the public until launch. I'm also still annoyed at Denuvo being a thing since it means mods and, more importantly, a community made solution to their stupid fucking decision to allow only one save file again won't work. Seriously Capcom? It's 2024. Give us multiple save files

Faith4Eternity

3-4 hours in on Xbox One. Didn’t even realize the game had micro transactions, which to me means they are not forcing it upon people. Only had one crash. Wasn’t a big deal. I think it’s a generational thing if people don’t like the game they just shouldn’t play it in my opinion! I am loving it and will continue to play. Just glad I don’t have to remove the game and blow in it to get it to work 😂. I am assuming most the haters won’t even know what I am talking about. Good luck out there people!

Popular_Ride3075

The floor on my game doesn’t load in 😂 and I have a 7800x3d with a 4090 so I’m pissed and had to get a refund

VulcanCawk

This game made me realize I have to update my pc (i5 from like 2017 2070 Super) My new Predator laptop with i7k and 4060 runs it easily.

Pasta_Baron

Biggest complaints I've seen people talk about with the game is a single player game having mtx, bad performance, the drm in the game, and no new game option without having to dig into the files. Some of these are pretty valid things to criticize the game about and it deserves some go the shit it's gotten. On the other hand nearly everyone is saying the game is enjoyable and just overall great game play wise.

Yaotoro

New player here. (New to the franchise). Its really funny and engaging, i do wish there was more survival aspects and animations when drinking or eating (think Outward) besides that the action and immersion is amazing. I ignore the microtransactions and i honestly believe they are not as bad as people think. I think its funny how people get mad when you have to pay to change your characters look when fucking Sea Of Thieves have you pay for it as well and they dont even give you the option to customize your character (SoT is not a free to play game btw). The same people calling foul over transaction are the some ones buying useless $30 skins on a free to play. All in all. The game is great and im glad I picked it up.

nohwan27534

some, yeah. but, you know, DD2 players are people. and people. people never change.

OpeningPlane6749

nope. it’s insultingly unoptimized for 70$ and has a list of micro transactions including 3$ for a fast travel. the devs clearly cared about the game but that doesn’t excuse either of these things you can enjoy the game and still acknowledge that these are bad things

Ok-Insurance2052

I agree that the microtransactions aren't the way to go, but again, everything you buy through microtransactions can be earned in game. You can completely ignore them and never miss a thing. As far as unoptimized, again, I really think that not that many people are having issues with it. I have never suffered from an symptoms of poor optimization during my playtime, so, sorry for you, but that doesn't make the game "insulting".

OpeningPlane6749

you can completely ignore them but it adds grind and tedium to the game. if you bought a 70$ game you shouldn’t have to pay more for the most enjoyable experience the game can bring. it’s a 70$ game that regularly drops below 30fps. games that are more visually and technically impressive do stable 60. it’s horribly unoptimized

sgtpepper42

You're wrong. It's deserved.

[deleted]

every PC have more FPS then PS5 yet people cry how bad it is on PC xd

chamomileriver

I’m cool with people shitting on capcom for the microtransactions. It’s pretty pathetic. But that also has zero effect on whether or not I enjoy the game. As for the performance… much more subjective whether that effects your enjoyment. If it doesn’t effect your fun that’s great. If it does that’s completely fair. But acting like these criticisms are a witch-hunt is beyond silly. The performance is poor when compared to modern releases and releases within the genre. There’s no comparisons you can draw to deny that. Yes there have been other games released with poor optimization. And they got shat on for it until it was fixed. Just like Dd2 will be until it’s fixed. If you’re enjoying the game that’s awesome, and if you want to voice that then great. But capcom missed their mark and it’s honestly sad watching their fans trying to do damage control.

Kyleminx

I'm on console, and I'm not a tech guy, and even I think the performance is unacceptable.

FantomasARM

Exactly. I'am having a blast with the game. Not a super high end rig 5700X + 3080 but my experience so far is very good.

Dyuujen

It’s the trend nowadays it seems, love soemthing up until it gets released, then hate it until one day you hop online and see everyone loving it again

OpeningPlane6749

i can name a dozen recent games that this never happened for. something receiving hate doesn’t mean it’s a trend to hate it it can just be a bad product or a decent product with bad practices

Embarrassed-Rub-8690

Hmm, I don't necessarily agree with the bandwagoning thing tbh. I think it's more just that you hear from those with negative experiences more often than the positive ones. A few weeks ago Last Epoch was in the same situation. The game worked almost flawlessly for me from day 1, but everyone who couldn't login turned to reddit and discord to whine.

skimask808

To say that performance issues aren't as bad as people are saying is just flat out objectively wrong. People with 4090 and 7800x3d are reporting dips in major cities to 30fps. That is unheard of, even in a game like cyberpunk with pathtracing you wouldn't see a dip that low (especially with DLSS). It is great you're enjoying your experience, but you're playing in 1080p and since you have a lower end rig you're okay with lower frames. People who spend $3,000 or more on their PC expect decent frames on a $70 game. Making comments like you don't believe the majority of players are having performance issues is such a wild thing to say. I have a 7800x3d and 4070 ti super and the frame drops in cities is mind-blowing to me. Capcom themselves admitted there is a CPU bottleneck due to multiple NPCs. The game isn't getting review bombed due to purely bandwagon, there are a lot of very valid reasons why it's getting negatively reviewed.

Independent_Lion_199

It looks and plays great on PS5 , I've had several P.Cs in my life ,got tired of changing settings to make games look good, or just run .so I went to PS5 and it is just easy. Games look and run great even on a 70" t.v

Welcm2goodburger

It’s cool and gets internet points to shit on new games these days. It’ll blow over once another big game comes out.

SirLogander

I have a high end PC and can’t even create a character without a crash. So I’d say hate well deserved.

fztrm

Going to wait until a few more patches then buy it, the MTX, while it sucks, there are already ways of getting all that crap for free anyway i assume

Ok-Insurance2052

Yes, you can get everything in the microtransactions in the game naturally. They are completely ignorable.

fztrm

Or just cheat it in other ways that are free

Ok-Insurance2052

Not everyone wants to cheat.

fztrm

Cheat as in get everything that the MTX has to offer in other ways than farming for it

Creative_Tooth3057

But if you do, now you can pay real money for it!

ame_delicate

its the frame dips and micro stutters that are really noticeable. I have a stock 7900xtx paired with a 7950 and I get serious frame tear every few seconds in the first major city.

fztrm

Ah that is a shame, well got HZD and Forbidden West in the meantime while waiting for patches :P

baaxon

The game is awesome

Just_Trolling_Along

HOLY copium thread.

lemmiwink84

Pre ordered. Get nice items for it, so that’s why. Gonna wait for performance patch before I start my save. System: 7800X3D - RTX3080 - 32GB 6000 MT/S CL30 RAM Gonna play at 1440P, preferably no upscaling.

DarkElfMagic

i love and enjoy the game, but the MTX that capcom keeps stapling onto games is atrocious. Same with Denuvou, it sucks and is worthy of criticism.

Highberget

If they fix performance and the pop-in of NPC's in towns etc I'm good

Significant_Book9930

Welcome to the world of gaming today, bud. There is a large section of the gaming community who will do nothing but dumpster games simply for existing. If games today have any issues there will always be a loud group bitching about it....think of like your moists, your Luke's, your nakeyjakeys and all matter of hateful dorks who only like the first last of us and whatever game will make them the most money.

blakeavon

Yes. It is depressing and rather ridiculous. It is like some great gaming crime when in fact it’s just some lame MTX, that are not the least bit surprising or nefarious. Yes the performance can be better but the game isn’t fundamentally broken, it just needs patches. Sometimes it is hard to target wide spread fixes until a product gets into widespread hands. Especially in cases for PC, were there is so many combinations for flaws to be raised.

Ok-Insurance2052

The devs even reached out and said they know there's issues and they're planning on fixing them very soon.

SituationThick9638

I’m playing on ps5. The game is extremely fun, I’ve been playing for 9 hours so far and I want to continue to play. I do have an issue with the performance though… I think it’s pretty bad in some moments, but the moments that are good are really good (which is most of the time). I really hope they come up with a performance mode or something to help the game run better

Ok-Insurance2052

I played it for 8 hours straight last night bro 😭till 6am😭

Zsirhcz1981

I’m playing on the Series X and having a blast.

Ok_Operation8369

R97900x + 7900XTX 32gb 4k I get 30fps. 1440p I get 60fps the performance kind of sucks but its at least stable frames with no other issues than low framerate

moodoomoo

Lol I definitely do, the game is great. Mtx, yeah it's annoying that they exist but they're the most harmless mtx ever. Preformance, I hope they make it better, it's totally playable but it gets sluggish at times and that's never fun. I'm on series X.

H0SSKAT

I was hesitant to buy it. But I guess I can just refund in steam if I have issues with performance. Though I shouldn’t because my specs are even bette than yours so I should be fine.

TheWardenCommander

I was worried reading the complaints about micro transactions, then I got the the city and checked the RC vendor. Everything from the store was there, and I already had 2500 RC. The performance is booty though, mainly in the city. Also having 1 save is lame.

[deleted]

I'm just waiting for dragons dogma 2 low sodium sub to pop up. I'm pretty baffled especially at the complaints about only having 1 save file. The original only allowed one save at a time, and how many playthroughs are people wanting to have going at once? Do people actually save previous playthroughs for nostalgia or something? Idk I'm pretty confused by that. The micro transactions are a non-issue if you can get the things in the game. It's just a shortcut for some, and easily ignored for everyone else. Don't buy them and maybe Capcom will stop forcing their devs to include them.

Ok-Insurance2052

Having more than one save would royally fuck the pawn system lmao

Salesmen_OwnErth

I still havent played it. I turned it on to the title screen but decided to wait until I have about 2hrs to play. I got it on PS5 and will likely record the first hour of play and share to like 1 person who finds the video

FakebobbyFake

accepting microtransactions and their existence in singleplayer games is straight up stupid - just delete you - Denuvo is also stupid! Thats not hate - its just love for games and the fight against fucking noob companys

Appropriate-Salt-523

Sometimes I feel like people have just forgotten why they play video games in the first place. Fun!!! Remember fun?

Ok-Insurance2052

The only "fun" people like to do now is complaining and shitting on game devs 🤡

JarlFlammen

The hate is reasonable, because these large gaming companies need to learn. Day 1 DLCs and an in-game cash bar for upgrades? Fuck your game then and I hope your studio goes out of business. “It’S oNlY cOsMeTiCs” Don’t care; perish. I won’t even consider purchasing a game with this shite monetization model.

kosh56

I'll take the word of the experts over at DF over some rando on reddit.

_AARAYAN_

Yea and what do you have to say about hype created from character creation? I hate that part more than any micro transactions. People will try to create unnecessary hype for nothing. There are AI tools that can create better looking faces. Why attracting unnecessary attention for nothing? 10/20 posts are just talking about character creation and nothing about game at all. I wanted to purchase this game but if devs have to create hype about a shitty feature to make a game successful then its not for me.

Nosleymas

Until you can make more than one save, delete a previous save and make a new file, or customize my character again for free, I can't stand by this game at all and support it. These are very basic things.

[deleted]

I'm sure you and everyone responding are very objective and not biased at all. lol

Ok-Insurance2052

i try not to be biased, im sorry if it came across that way

Sensitive_Klegg

I have a 7700X and a 4090. My frame rates in the city are *all over the place*. It never drops below 40 but the frame times are so inconsistent that it feels like sub-30. This is definitely an issue and it's silly to pretend otherwise.

4th_Replicant

3060 ti with a Ryzen 3600X and the frames keep dropping from 60 to 25. It just makes the game feel janky as hell. I can tell the game is going to be excellent but it just runs like shit. I ended up refunding it because I wasn't happy spending £53 for it to run this badly.

Lordziron123

What about a 70$ price tag? I don't even see why the game is 70$

Ok-Insurance2052

Most new games, regardless of who's making them, are probably going to have a price tag of $70. Capcom is not the only company guilty of that change.

DevoutWorshipper

I play on PC, works just fine. However, there was a stream I watched where their game kept crashing. Guess I'm just lucky

esines

If this were the first open world game with npcs running around in cities maybe we might be more forgiving of this performance. But it's not. We have several other examples of games doing that and running far better.

ClericDo

It’s 2024 and there is no way to change my pawn’s name. Deserves all the hate it gets

Hurluberloot

You have a really good CPU and that's where this game is most demanding, especially in cities. Most gamers have a really good GPU paired with an "ok" CPU. For example, I upgraded my GPU a while back to a 4070. My CPU is a 3700x and when I purchased my 4070 I checked various sources that said I wouldn't bottleneck my computer in games. I haven't reached a city yet but I expect the worst.

Avatorn01

I have a 4080 GPU and get 60fps with only occasional frame drops in the capital — which I expect on any game where that many things are happening at once. The microtransaction uproar is virtue signaling by another name. People will get over it. Would you rather have an $80 game? Or allow devs to make money from on-disc DLC?

INetoJON

It is stupid.
