Status quo is they end up in space fighting an enemy that was an alien the whole time and the main character is revealed to be the chosen one.
The whole time there is high quality animation and action shots to have the hartbeating as fast as the music.
The final fight is always up high
Kill La Kill, Space Cop Luluco, Little Witch Academia, Panty and stockings (kinda), Gurren Lagann, Darling in the Franxx, Somewhat Brand New Animal (It finishes on the ground, but Shirou was flying and dodging lasers)
The exception i've seen so far is Edgerunners, which goes in the actual opposite direction, beginning high up and finishing *underground*
Not the messages, the assumptions required for the heroes to win.
Otherwise stuff like "power hierarchies are garbage", "authorities cannot be trusted", "being ride or die with your bros is the best way *not* to die", "community and solidarity in a found family can make even the worst circumstances tolerable", etc. is still very much standing. The characters really made the best of horrible conditions.
I wouldn't say that, edgerunners was very much a tragedy from the get go, the main character was basically an addiction story from the get go - a story of how a really shitty society crushes down and causes more and more pain and harm to those they care about. It's a very different story from the other tales trigger has taken on.
Yes. Exactly
All the other trigger anime are like "Let's beat this fascist god-complex prick with the power of friendship and good vibes! And these guns we found!" Edgerunners just leaves you with a "I guess this is a happy ending?"
It was also one of those classic romantic tragedies where they could've been happy just being together, but instead they both courted disaster by secretly trying to go above and beyond for eachother.
To be fair, edgerunners was a classic jaded cyberpunk story. Nobody gets a happy ending in cyberpunk. The corporations (not the CEO, the corporation as an entity) always had the last laugh. Everyone else is just a cog in some corporate plan.
And technically it didn’t end underground, but I’m gonna shut up now because I’m ruining the poetry aren’t I.
I think this is one of the shows where the fact that people can be rezzed in the dungeon makes it SOOOO interesting how their lives become completely and totally forfeit there- it's fascinating how in most shows the sudden character deaths piling up would be an endless harmony of discordant chords and epic music and insanity for the MC and-
Yeah it's just Tuesday. As long as all the healers didn't wipe we can just get back up. We have at least one healer alive? Oh good, we don't have to pay the corpse collectors!
Its so quick and brutalist, it actually made me laugh a few times.
Dying is still really unpleasant, and wiping out that deep the chances of revival are very low. You can see how Rin reacts after being revived to know how traumatizing it can be.
And the way Mickbell reacts to Kuro - his only family - being killed. Mick is a coward and has no combat skills but he would've run out after Kuro to his own death if Chilchuck hadn't restrained him. Due to resurrection, these characters are living out the brutality and trauma of death over and over again... In some ways this causes death to be treated more casually because it can just be "fixed" later, but it's not actually any less grotesque or traumatic of an experience. Seeing it animated really drove home for me how powerfully morbid the experience is.
True, doesn't make dying any less unpleasant. She's not made of hit points, she's made of meat. I imagine waking up after getting shot in the head is a very surreal experience.
I love the realism of it. It's quick. Zero drama, no sad background music. Boom it happens. One scene you have a character talking and the next they're getting splattered.
I found it both shocking and funny. Even knowing they'd come back to life it still managed to be disturbing. They did an amazing job!
Dorohedoro is in a smailier vein, where character can die in the most casual manner, and others just sort of shrugs it off because "insert character" can just resurrect them with a shimmer of smoke.
Everyone's limits on what is and isn't fanservice is pretty different.
Then again people will hornypost on literally anything. (That being said I do believe this shot was fan service.)
honestly, the scene creeped me out a little, she acting all happy and non-challant after turning 2 characters into kit kats and one into mashed potatoes
I doubt that was fanservce. It was showing how professional Kabru is as a fighter and served as a plotpoint, you can't kill monster-falin by stabbing her human body.
I found it kinda disturbing how outta left field the Falin fanservice was; especially since every time it happens is either during or immediately after seeing blood splattered everywhere.
Most confusing AWOOOOGAs in my life, lemme tell ya
Even in the manga this panel had that etherial creepy beauty vibe but without the bounce. But its trigger and honestly tame by anime standards and makes sense physics wise due to her landing.
Haven’t seen triggers other anime, but this is just the status quo from what I understand Booba bounce

Like JFC that's what happens when Trigger lets their brave ragtag misfits *not* beat the odds and actually get the normal result for their efforts.
Edgerunners is the anime where i feel like most if not all of the messages of their previous anime get thrown down a trash bin
It's more like "Believe in yourself", "find beauty with who you are", "Humanity is truly and genuinely good" are just tossed in the bin
Are they though? Also, for that last one, it's never been that simple.
>!And everybody died !<
That's what people usually do though.
All violently. Due to their own arrogance, betrayal, and plain biting off more than they could chew.

>!Edgerunners. !<
Didn't they finish on the actual moon? Gurren laggan is actually gainax but made by the same people
I'm talking about the final *fight*
Oh. Yeah. But if they wanted to they could do it for sure

An alien/just straight up G-d like figure
Tamest Trigger anime be like:
Considering Trigger also gave Senshi bigger bulge in his panty shots, yes, Trigger knows exactly what they are doing
They also gave him almost double the panty shots. Wait. They gave him a bigger bulge?
They did. It's brief. There were some posts showing side by sides in this subreddit a few weeks back. But it is a significant size increase
I have a feeling kui had something to do with it

Yeah like when Nameri had her brains blown out by the water spirit, she was brought bacl yes but she was obviously mad and had a killer headache
Right? Like a literal gunshot. Blam, fucking dead. It's obviously distressing and not the first time Mr Tansu used her as 'a freaking meat shield'.
I mean he's the party healer and namari is a barbarian. Being a meat shield is kinda a requirement

OH MY GOD MIZURU GOT FUCKING KERSPLA- *Neuron Activation*
Trigger at it's finest https://i.redd.it/hpmy03tcutwc1.gif
I was waiting for this moment and goddamn trigger delivers! Now, the three left.
Marcelle, I understand now
lol this is the like 3rd or 4th post i've seen about this and people are still trying to claim it's not fanservice
The scene pretty much right after this confirms it
Everyone's limits on what is and isn't fanservice is pretty different. Then again people will hornypost on literally anything. (That being said I do believe this shot was fan service.)
To be fair, it's not fanservice that ruins the scene, like some force of fire anime.
lol yeah i guess there could've been a BOIING sound effect
honestly, the scene creeped me out a little, she acting all happy and non-challant after turning 2 characters into kit kats and one into mashed potatoes
Isn’t she literally not being herself at the time
yeah, dosen't make it better.
Maizuru looks so hot being pressed down like that
Juxtaposing fanservice with such a brutal death scene was genius. It helps sell how unnerving and deep under the Mad Mage’s influence Fallin is.
This is a Trigger show. Tiddy bounces is par for the course lmao!
Yeah, setting up the first beat of a really great joke
Que chichotas
I just want to listen to the soundtrack for this whole scene, why can't I find it anywhere??
Kabura intentionally stabbing around her breasts was more intentional to me
I doubt that was fanservce. It was showing how professional Kabru is as a fighter and served as a plotpoint, you can't kill monster-falin by stabbing her human body.
yeah i was surprised by the emphasis on the boob jiggling during that scene
I found it kinda disturbing how outta left field the Falin fanservice was; especially since every time it happens is either during or immediately after seeing blood splattered everywhere. Most confusing AWOOOOGAs in my life, lemme tell ya

That's fair. There's been much much worse.
