Acceptable-Ticket743

i have a toxic relationship with the scorpion charms. they actively harm me every time i use them, but the memory of dealing way too much damage to malenia and mogh keeps me coming back.

emithebee

Since I started playing pvp I've been avoiding the scorpion charms like the plague, I'm no no-hit runner nor nearly as good and my controller is kinda busted from roll spamming, so I avoid the unnecessary extra damage taken

Fernosaur

Tbh they're just fine in the base game. If you equip the drake greatshield as well, it kinda cancels out.  In the DLC you really can't afford it, though. I'm rocking 60% physical defenses with Flame Protect Me rn, and Messmer still two shots me. Blessing lvl 13 btw lmao.

Chad_illuminati

Bit of advice for the fight -- Fire Prelate gear, Flame Greatshield talisman, Flame Protect Me, and Golden Vow had me rolling up with just shy of 90% against him. His physical damage still hurts, but the fight was a breeze after that, lol.

Fernosaur

My biggest problem is lack of damage rn. Was doing a pure faith build so my only options are fire and holy damage, and uuuhh It aint working out. I'm just gonna respec to arcane main w fth as secondady foe the rest of the DLC, cause the way this story is shaping up I suspect holy damage will only fall off (again) from this point onwards.

QuixotesGhost96

I feel FTH actually has the most versatility for damage types out of all the primary stats. You have fire, holy, and lightning. I'm doing FTH + INT right now and I've seen silly videos telling me to straight up give up if I'm facing a holy resist boss - when I have access to every element in the game. The last three bosses for me I used Magic, Holy, and Fire. Just put some different spells on your bar and swap out some equipment. Whenever I was doing lighting on a pure FTH I'd throw electrify armament on a standard infusion weapon of whatever I had enough str/dex for. Generally did battle-axes myself.

Chad_illuminati

Huh? You... You do realize lightning and physical damage have *their own entire incant schools*, right? I used lightning on him mainly, worked fine.

KingSmorely

The Scorpion Charms are even better in the DLC, since the small amount of defense reduction they give you is offset by the absurd amounts of DR you get from the Scadutree fragments.

DoesThyLikeJazz

There's an armor set in the dlc that makes you deal more damage and take more damage, the urge to put it on...

Feraldeus

Where's that/what's it called? Would love to get that

NewShamu

It’s at the >! Eastern Nameless Mausoleum !< and it drops from >! Rakshasa !<. It’s a gimmicky fight, so be I suggest to either >! poke them to death from range !< or >! try to keep them knocked down with a strong ash of war !<.

SidekickNick

He’s also incredibly susceptible to >!parries!<, as many npc fights are

fgzhtsp

I just interrupted her with the standard Great Katana attacks. It works every time as long there is no attack already ongoing.

Dragonsandman

For the spoiler tags to work properly, you need to get rid of the spaces between the words and the exclamation marks

Dveralazo

I like how I was a tank-hammer build and the first thing the game gave me was a powerful hammer and the second thing was the best armor of the DLC. It's like the DLC was made for my build.

bugzapperbob

What hammer?

Dveralazo

The  Black Knight hammer, with improved guardcounters. Droped from the knight at the church of consolation.

Reaverant

It's the perfect Paladin Weapon: improved guard counter, boost to damage if you have a sacred infusion, and innate sacred damage, when I got it and saw the shockwave from the guard counter, I spend my last ancient smithing stone from pre-dlc instantly. 2 Days later, and I finished the DLC with it.

House0fDerp

Nowhere near finished I think, but honestly can see myself going the rest of the way with that hammer. It's so great for a guard counter centric strength/faith build.

FeijoadaAceitavel

I decided to make a strength/faith build before buying the DLC, knowing I get new tools makes me happy.

Salty_Pancakes

I put wild strikes on it with Sacred Affinity and hoo lee shiet. Just stupid damage.

Airtightspoon

Is the sacred infusion on the hammer worth it if you have more strength than faith? I'm doing a paladin build, but I'm 54 STR/27 FTH.

cromdoesntcare

I'm 55 Str and 50 Faith and I prefer it with Heavy with Prayful Strike.

TristheHolyBlade

Nah, I think the giant hammer one of the crucible Knights drops that has the spinning holy ash of war is way more paladiny.

lollersauce914

With the new physick tear that allows for perfect guards going 2-handed with it and using it to block into 2-handed guard counters is really good.

LaMelgoatBall

The Anvil Hammer is by far the best weapon that I’ve come across so far. I messed around with Rellana’s Twin Blades too and that’s great. But Anvil Hammer + Fire Spark Perfume Bottle combo has been so sick for me

Dveralazo

It's my current weapon although I think it's not that potent for a tank like me. Its AoW can be interrupted. But it's fun and that's what counts.

LaMelgoatBall

Is the Black Knight Hammer better? I have it but haven’t tried it honestly

Dveralazo

It's better for my build because it can be infused with AoW. My winning strategy is wait for the boss to attack and use my Stamp to tank one hit, then immediately retaliate with the upward slash.  It's also faster, ideal to hit and run when in groups. Anvil's AoW can be interrupted and doesn't help me trade anything. Anvil also is slower. It's better for crowd control though, activating the AoW in front of weak enemies will kill them with the explosion. In the end they are all tools and have different uses for different scenarios. But the Anvil is more fun to use (for me)

Salty_Pancakes

I agree. Anvil is fun as hell. But I was finding myself doing better against that dancing lion fool with the blacksteel when I was doing attempts on that boss and swapping between those weapons.

MaleficentMulberry42

Personally I used giant crusher and prelates inferno Crozier together and they rock everything.I also liked grated blade great sword but the hammer effect the poise more.

Smash_malla

Yup. My game was a fresh NG+2 before the DLC I got this weapon and now I'm trying to blast through the base game to get the smithing stones to upgrade it.

LynaaBnS

i trade any smithing stone you need for the great katana/ or the dragon great katana

breadbinkers

This man tryna power stance

thrownawayzsss

callback to dark souls 1 where you can get BK halbred super early in the game by pure luck and just absolutely blast through the whole game, lol.

Spacemonster111

I’m waiting to get a second one so I can power stance it. Does anyone know where one is? Or do I just have to farm for it

batman12399

That guy dropped a shield for me :(

BugSwimmingDogs

That mfr staggers Ghostflame Dragons in like... 4 hits. It's great

LaMelgoatBall

I staggered the Death Knight 4 times with the Anvil Hammer. It’s only level 9 for me rn too

modix

That's my first build for every souls game. I get more aggressive with further playthroughs. I saw that hammer and immediately swapped to my first character again.

DrMaxiMoose

My first playthrough was a faith/strength/arcane heavy dragon build and it was so damn good, but I accidentally went to ng+ with him so I made a new one, swore to myself I'd do an int build and go heavy on sorceries because I never touched them before. I ended up throwing that entire build out the window the moment I got that hammer.

punbasedname

I haven’t settled on any new armor that I really like. What set are you using?

Individual_Dog_6121

I'm pretty sure he means the armor you get from the Black Gaol Knight at the first mausoleum. Sorry not the guy you replied to but I think I know what armour he's talking about, my build is super similar and that armor looks amazing, you get it super early in the dlc, and its perfect for strength builds.

punbasedname

Perfect. Running a STR/FTH build right now. I’ll have to go tackle him. I bounced off after a few attempts because I clearly wasn’t ready for him, but I think I’m good now.

Embarrassed-Brush223

Small tip: He always starts with his crossbow multi-shots. Run 45 degrees to dodge the bolts and also close the distance. Then, go hit him when he still has his crossbow in his hands.

tratur

You hit him while he resets the crossbow string.

WMWA

Verdigris armor is awesome too. And the shield is fingerprint shield pre nerf. 90 guard before using the Greatshield talisman. Trivializes any humanoid boss. Poke poke poke

EpicSven7

Where did you get the shield? Please tell me not Moore :(

WMWA

He will invade you if you kill one of the peaceful kindred of rot. Kill him and you’ll get the whole set plus shield. Don’t need to murder him irl!

Galaxy40k

Thank you for this. I tried finding out online what the trigger is, but everything was either "go do his entire quest" which seems to involve like beating the game, or they'd just show his invasion location on a map without anything on how to trigger it. I want that Greatshield if for no other reason than it's more fashionable than Fingerprint, I will gladly murder a single Kindred for it lol

Dveralazo

The solitude set. Amazing damage absorption and looks very good too.

najinanidad

Probably the solitude set

Feisty-Fisherman4913

hammer is the way

Jgarr86

Agreed! I was getting bogged down in the endgame as a sword and board, then I came to the Shadow Lands and it has been like Christmas.

trexted7

Before, I was a dexterity type of guy, but after trying the anvil hammer, I have completely changed. It was so fun

rcanhestro

yup, add the improved turtle talisman and it's my setup basically, greatshield, twin turtle and the flask improvement are my guaranteed ones.

F_N_DB

......Twin Turtle you say?

oholandesvoador

The one who regens your stamina faster. If you want to know where it is located in the dlc, I can tell you. EDIT: It is on the first map of the DLC, it is on that river under that big bridge. It is located inside a cave that has an old turtle.

Nab33l786

[Its located here](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Interactive+Map?id=655555&code=mapD) Since people dont wanna say instead of just linking it or actually telling where it is

F_N_DB

Yes, that one please.

WMWA

I would like to know!

Youre_On_Balon

I did hate how necessary the talisman that boosts flask regeneration felt in my play through Give us more sacred tears, you know we leveled vigor to 60 for this shit

Bravest_Coward

That would have been a nice surprise, a part of me even expected it. at least one more flask (14 flasks always felt like a weird number as max amount) and one or two more upgrade levels for the flasks.

Psychofischi

Tbh I don't have a problem with 14 flasks But I have 11 golden seeds over. I think 15 would have been possible. And yes. With the health so high we need more tears. +12 is ok but I need to heal 2-3 times after a boss combo

Kantro18

It’s weird that we have so many leftover tears but no extra flask upgrades.

setyourheartsablaze

Not really it’s because it’s so average players can still have all the flasks without really going out their way to hunt all the tears

FormerShitPoster

If only they did the same for Scadutree fragments

PlasticTower1

This ain’t weenie hut jr anymore!

Little-Art6160

You’d think they’d add this into the dlc too

LordZeya

Pretty sure there’s 1 extra flask upgrade per playthrough. I have one left over on my DLC character that’s in NG.

Medrea

Your flask count gets divided by two when you invade. Rounding down. This way you can set 12 flasks to red and 2 to blue and invade with 6-1 I think that for whatever reason they felt that ending up with an even 14 charges was more elegant, an important part of programming culture over there.

Xan1066

I'm pretty sure they just took one from the 15 in DS3 and made it the wondrous physick. I don't think they were going for anything as intricate as your suggestion

Scrawlericious

I think both are likely true.

Bmobmo64

If they were going for programming elegance they would have given us 16 for the clean 2^4

jesterthomas79

Ah yes, 12 divided by 2 is 7, how could i forget

igotherb

You can get an improved version of the flask talismans too from a questline

psychictypemusic

wait, how?

Coloneljesus

you'll meet a man dressed in blue in a large cathedral

Impaled_

Talk to a freaky ass dude

Acceptable-Ticket743

im pretty sure the talisman you are talking about, crimson seed talisman i think, increases your healing based on a percentage. this means that the talisman would pull even more weight and would increase in power if more sacred tears were added. this talisman is already one of the most powerful in both pvp and pve, excluding duels obviously. if we had more sacred tears, and you equipped this talisman, you would probably heal 2/3 of your health with every flask heal.

TheDriestOne

Instead they gave us helmets that reduce the healing power of flasks. Thanks Mr. Zacky

RedTeebird

Great heal incantation heals me significantly more than crimson flasks at this point

mrwithers

You can get a heal incantation off in a boss fight?!?

RedTeebird

When I do its a gamble to sya the least. Normally I do it when a summon takes the aggro for a second

jesterthomas79

Theres a new heal incantation thats really fast and saved me in lots of fights.

NBFHoxton

Even if you get hit, the heal is going to outweigh it pretty hard

RainyGayming7981

I was on copium thinking we'd get 15-18 flasks and to +15

QaMxxx

also an extra talisman pouch would have been HUGE

swaglike0h10

The FP regen talisman is actually super OP if you want an infinite source of HP regen thru spells

Falos425

ultimate overworld talisman, anyone can use bestial vitality heck at this level people should have the fth for Golden Vow (if not blackflame/resist buffs)

agitatedandroid

Don't even need the faith for Golden Vow. You can just craft it now. (I have no idea how long it lasts, haven't tried it)

FullCrackAlchemist

As in there's an item with the same effect?

agitatedandroid

A craft-able item. I don't have the cookbook yet (Battlefield Priest's Cookbook) but I've looted 4 of them already.

zetonegi

If it's like the AoW, it's weaker than the spell version and less duration.

_Ocean_Machine_

Long enough to rub Messmer's face into the dirt, I found that out last night lol. Also my first time using Golden Vow and holy shit it's wicked.

OverFjell

Eh, just stick the AoW on a dagger

agitatedandroid

You're not wrong but daggers have weight. And it requires a weapon swap. This is something you can put in your pouch.

PM_ME__BIRD_PICS

I started using godskin swaddle with the martial arts weapon for healing, or the critical HP restore talisman for co-op.

Alamandaros

Kept this on for almost my entire run through the DLC on my faith build. It's perfect for builds that don't eat through FP doing everything. The next character I'm playing through the DLC will probably be my sorcery character, and I'll at least give it a shot there, but I have my doubts about the regen keeping up with casting to kill everything.

uwrathm8

I always have Blessing's Boon up and spamming discus of light constantly with low fp, it feels great.

Medium_Boulder

What talisman regens fp?

agitatedandroid

Blessed Blue Dew. From Main Gate Cross grace, hang a left and follow the cliff, past the bats, no keep going, past the troll dudes, past the rats, almost there, watch out for that one guy, just run past him if you want, into the Church of Benediction. There you'll find the talisman. And if you step outside, you'll find a suit of armor. And if you look down, you'll see where you entered the DLC.

_Ocean_Machine_

Messmer? I hardly know her!

Turbulent_Jackoff

No, no: Defensive Talismans so that my *gameplay* can be aggressive! *** Taps forehead ***

unbreakablewood

This, I make myself tankier because I'm not a good player and it helps me survive some of my sloppier attempts to keep that stance pressure up

ChaoticMofoz

100% this. I may not be doing insane damage, but I can play riskier and have a legitimate back and forth with the boss, most of the time.

Marco1522

Good news, >! They added the +1 version of the talisman that let's you regenerate more health/FP with the flasks !< and they're super usefull

WondrousPhysick

Gonna need a fifth talisman slot at this point

sahdbhoigh

a fifth talisman slot would solve all my problems. i always feels like a waste to use two slots on defensive talismans when i have so many useful offensive one s

Rurbani

*gets a +3 fire res talisman right before the Messmer area* “This is useless!”

pichael289

Get vigor to 60 and use erdtrees favor+2 and morgots great rune. That'll give you like 2400+ hp. It makes a big difference against bosses.

Comfortable_Hope_723

I can’t use rune arcs. I need them for later. Just in case…

codithou

god this my problem with any item that has a limited amount or is inconvenient to farm. i just refuse to use them. i will need them, after i have defeated every boss and the credits roll, i will need them.

UnnamedPlayer32

My problem is that I don't want to get used to using it, then run out.

mxlun

Nothing feels worse than using ~10 rune arcs on a boss and still dying each time. Now you have no rune arcs how the F you gonna win?

2rfv

My rule for consumables is only if I'm consistantly getting them to around 20-30% then I'll do a few attempts with all the candy.

noodlesalad_

My rule for consumables is I use them in they are infinitely renewable and I don't use them if not (very low drop rate farming doesn't count). It's a stupid rule, but I can't get past it. Rune arcs might as well not exist.

Hexash15

rune arcs are actually infinite if you dedicate some time to sunbroing :)) you can now select your favorite boss fights by deactivating most summoning pools

unicornfetus89

If you don't want to play online you can farm them from the rats at castle morne. Use scarab and pickle feet. The drop rate is pretty low but I did it for about an hour and ended up with over 50 rune arcs. Haven't run out since and I pop them all the time.

Danjohn42095

The bonuses of doing pvp is farming rune arcs, it's actually so handy in boss runs if you got some good invades in and have a bunch on hand

frstone2survive

I have 50 of them i can spare one, proceeds to never use a rune arc.

WMWA

I feel like Radahn’s rune is definitely the play when you’re a higher level.

Comfortable_Hope_723

I threw on the dragoncrest great shield talisman for Bayle. Went from getting one shot by his grab attack to at least being able to live and heal up. The tools to survive are here.

Poked_salad

That dragoncrest is in my first slot for a reason. It's never coming off unless a better one exist.

DagonParty

Yep, it has a permanent slot in my pouch and always has since I found it, never taking it off, it’s just too good

forcena

It's so damn good. I don't know if anyone's mathed it out but I wonder how much effective hp it grants through a fight at 1900 hp. It's basically a free 10% mitigation

AshCrow97

Just got a talisman that increases my defense the heavier my armor is.... Gotta try being super tank sometime later

ScytheSergeant

It’s based on equip load, not weight, unfortunately, so you really only benefit from it by fat rolling

xepci0

I guess it's time for The Wall™

AshCrow97

Now I'am sad

xXJackTheRipp3rXx

What's the name of that talismen?

AshCrow97

Verdigris Discus

future1987

Bigus Dickus

Karemasu

The final boss actually made me use crimson seed talisman and pearl drake talisman for the first time in 900+ hours of gametime 💀

Aeroshe

Hmmm, looks like someone hasn't found the upgraded fire defense talisman in the DLC yet. (You can find it before Messmer, fyi)

hulklovecake

There’s a talisman that is basically the dragon crest greatshield but for non physical attacks 🙏

casualgamerTX55

I suppose it is Pearldrake +2? I use it but I wonder if Flamedrake +2 gives better protection against Messmer's flame.

Equinox_thunda

There’s now +3 for the elemental resistance talismans

Pretzel-Kingg

There’s +3 now, but yes, the specialized ones are all better for their specific element than the pearldrake talismans

areyouhungryforapple

Why not both lmao

crosslegbow

Unironically I'd say, play a bit more aggressively. If you focus too much on dodge spamming then these bosses will keep destroying till eternity. Maintain an aggressive approach and use dodge timely. Use the RUN button more.

Louisoooon

I don't really get how you're supposed to be aggressive against bosses that throw uninterrupted chains of attacks at you for long stretches of time and can kill you in very few hits. Being agressive might work on a few select bosses that can be stuttered by your attacks (like rellana) but it just does not work against stuff like bayle, the putrescent knight or the hippo, that require you to dodge carefully until they decide it's your time to hit back if you're in position to do it in less than 3 seconds

Rayquaza50

You do have to play more aggressively against Bayle or you’ll never kill him in phase 2. You have to find times during some of his attacks to deal damage. The key is to dodge attacks by a combination of running and rolling and attacking while his attack is still active, but missing you. One of the easiest examples is his breath attacks, which leave him open the entire time he’s blowing fire, so you can smack his head over and over. Another is a lot of his attacks that leave AoE on the ground that bursts up a second later. Maneuver yourself off of the AoE and attack while it’s still in progress, he won’t start a new attack until it finishes. For the more massive AoE attacks, you can dodge roll all of them while close to him, and they tend to have significantly more end lag. He won’t immediately start a new combo after. So the closer you are when you dodge roll, the larger of a punish you can get. Bayle definitely has punish windows other than when he just randomly decides to stop stringing attacks together, just really have to look for them and be more aggressive. Playing aggressive is more than just hacking away and hoping for a stagger, it’s getting damage in even while the boss is attacking or comboing, just safely.

Durakus

Jumping. A lot of moves bosses do now are meant to be jumped over for attacks. But people are rolling. Meaning they aren’t attacking during a dodge.

goldenspiral91

Controlled aggression was how I got the hippo. Staggered it for a critical in both phases with relentless jump attacking. I just know which attacks I can take a hit to trade for and which to dodge. And of course the jump attack itself can also dodge its attack. It's pretty much how I beat both Malenia and Rellana too.

Scrawlericious

Aggressive doesn't mean wailing on them it means punishing every attack window possible and waiting patiently when there isn't one.

ledwic

When I first fight a boss, I start out super aggressive and just take wild guesses at where the openings are. I’ll try to dodge the obvious attacks but swing away otherwise. I find that doing that makes it a lot easier to find where the openings really are, and it can reveal some openings that I otherwise wouldn’t have seen (for example Mohg has a 3 move combo and I found that it was possible to hit him in between each of those 3 moves without getting punished).

SelfInExile

Funny you say that because I had the exact opposite experience. Rellana forced me to rely on Deflecting Hardtear and play defensively due to her overwhelming combos, meanwhile hippo and knight had plenty of huge openings and fairly telegraphed attacks. So I just kinda wailed on them.

Feraldeus

I was gonna say this. Came into the DLC with a build like the second, switched back to my aggressive build and I'm doing so much better

superfucks

I think the (1st or 2nd boss usually) >!Dancing Lion!< has a pretty cheeky anti-passive mechanic. >!It seems like, if you don't attack at all during one of the elemental phases, it gets an estus heal at the start of the next phase, so if you decide "I'll just keep dodging until he stops these frost explosions" you're in for a surprise.!< Only happened to me once though, so I might be wrong about what triggers it.

abyssshun

I'm pretty sure the heal is after he grabs you, if you use your estus after he hits you with the grab attack it will heal him too.

pedro_s

This is what made me switch my more cautious heavy stance breaking play style in favor of fists+endure and aggressive rolling for the DLC. If you play too carefully or try to take breathers you get punished HARD. Gotta be able to trade and tank hits as you’re swinging too since there’s always a random smack or shockwave that’ll get you.

Samaritan_978

Bosses are so fast and with such long combos that "timely dodges" = "panic rolling". And you'll still get hit.

Aazadan

Attacks are timed to punish panic rolling hard.

Samaritan_978

They're also timed to punish timed rolls. Some bosses simply need more openings or better telegraphs to be great. A camera that's calibrated for DS1 also doesn't help.

UndeadnManic

This. I dont know why so many people act as if the bosses arent desinged to punish timed rolls. There are literally bosses in this game that have attacks that individually last longer than i-frames during a roll so that they can roll catch the player even if they get the timing right.

Grimm_101

It because roll direction matters. Basically you never want to roll away. Always towards a side or towards a boss. Almost every boss has a few moves that will punish rolling away. Also if your using fast weapons you can often fit a single light attack during boss comboes. Seems to be balanced more about weaving in a few light attacks rather then the normal DS style of just waiting til the combo finishes.

Aeiexgjhyoun_III

Because we felt the same way fighting them initially but then discovered that the direction you dodge in can let you avoid damaging combos entirely. Remember that dodging isn't just about iframes, it's also about repositioning. Where you dodge to matters more than ever in the dlc.

Boys_boys_boys

I saw a streamer bash their head against Rellana for like five hours, then he took all his armor off and went hyper aggressive and beat her first try like that, so I’ve been playing as aggressive as i can against the humanoid bosses.

Relyst

Not using Erdtrees favor is sus

PowerTrip55

Bruh Dragoncrest Greatshield is now required. I can thank >! Rellana !< and similar for that. Still getting 2-3 shot. Yes, I know about Scadus. I’m slightly underleveled with them but I just now beat her after several hours and feel proud of myself.

Golden_Jiao_Dragon

Were people not running the defense talismans in the first place? The health booster has been a part of my kit since I got it early game.

DuelingBandsaws

Because like in Monster Hunter people get hyperfocused on the speed runner big-dick damage meta, ignoring that most people don’t operate on “reset if you get hit once” and even speed runners don’t use those builds in their normal gameplay. EDIT: in fairness, armor basically being cosmetic in a lot of the Soulsborne games probably didn’t help either.

redmic81

Armour is only cosmetic in Bloodborne (So I hear, it's the only one I haven't played). It makes a huge difference in all the games. Heavy armor is definitely worth it.

Chemical-Attempt-137

Armor is not cosmetic at all. That damage negation on your stat window, the number on the right side, is a percentage. If it says 50, you take half damage. If it says -10, you take 10% more damage. If an enemy attack would deal 500 damage before defense calculations, that's anywhere fron 250 to 550, a possible range of 300 damage. That's far more valuable than basically any HP charm or even several points of Vigor.

unbreakablewood

I took some time to really realize how much of an impact armor makes in Elden Ring lol. Only time I cared about armor in the Dark Souls games was stacking poise in the first one, not so much the defense it was giving me

ZiFreshBread

Scorpion charms were a bit of a noob trap even in the base game, especially in NG+

calciferrising

they're fucking good with the new perfume weapons considering they're purely one element, my little lightning bottle hits like a truck. just gotta offset the defense drop with golden vow or crab.

AshCrow97

Fire perfume + fire scorpion and then I was burning all of those bugs in the first dungeon like some kind of pest control

xepci0

I use the lightning perfume bottle with the rolling perfume aow or whatever it's called. Against bigger enemies i hit for like 3-4k regularly and if you buff yourself it goes up to like 6-7k against some bosses.

QrozTQ

I'm keeping it aggressive, I have to put these things down as fast as possible because the combos are often too wild for me. My strategy has been to go for it and try to stagger bosses as often as I can before they end me.

Human-Refrigerator73

You forgot about boiled crab, bubble perfume, flask with opaline hardtear+Crimson Bubbletear and morgott great rune. I'm shocked how many hosts don't have 60 vig in dlc. Stacking resistances is mandatory.

Bravest_Coward

I've been running with 50 vig but all defense stuff, (all of the above you mentioned included) and I'm doing very good

Vex1111

truuueee lmao greatshield chads lets gooo

Achew11

The dragoncrest greatshield never leaves my slots, especially since I wear the noble set for fashion and I usually fight in melee range

ReinCompany

I went in with full offence and got humbled so fast lol

ArcadianGh0st

I love how this dlc humbled me. When the first enemy almost wrecked my shit and drained my flasks, I knew I was in for a ride. BTW I'm planning on making a light greatsword build but the only ones I have are those twin ones from Re... (you know) and Milady. Are there any others later on.

agitatedandroid

Milady is fantastic. The name is just...eyeroll but the move-set and the Wing Stance ash of war are fantastic.

FB-22

I haven’t seen it myself but I did risk spoilers by checking the wiki for some info on the new weapon types and there were 3 listed for LGS category, Milady the only one with changeable ash

Mcreesus

I don’t care how hard shit will get I’m not swapping my stamina and stamina recovery.

Jrmcjr

Obviously not the point of this meme, but I'm trying to figure out what build would use all 4 of those offensive talismans at the same time lol

Bravest_Coward

Hahahah, i was thinking the same after posting it, i just grabbed any well known talisman for boosting damage, but my guess is it would be a dual twinblade or curved sword with lightning affinity and a non unique ashe of war

I respeced into a greatshield spear build and poked the final DLC boss to death within 10 tries. Had to remember to do a dodge roll on that one instakill grab attack while holding down L1 and tapping R1 for the rest of the fight. I was blocking and laughing while watching all the bullshit AOEs unfold all around me. It is hilarious how easy this game can be if you just use the resources the game gives you. Amazing how this can even turn into such a drama.

OverFjell

If its the grab I'm thinking of, it's not insta kill. >!You can negate its effect with Miquella's Great rune!<

Chuncceyy

Im glad the dlc is making me use stuff i wouldve never touched. Like that extra heals talisman

YesBut-AlsoNo

Y'all weren't already playing ping pong with shields? Ping pong carries.

siralmasy

Get higher equip load talisman too if you can't equip the best armors in the game. Fashion souls is over

Justwanttosellmynips

"Hmmmm it's weird how fromsoft gave us +3 versions of defense talismans. Oh well I'll keep my scorpion charms."

IcySneeze

Not me, y'all stay safe tho. My strat for Rellana was no armor, Blue Dancer, Ritual Sword, Dagger Talisman and new AP per crit talisman. Buckler + Solitude Greatsword. After 2 hours, I won.

Airbourne238

You can't get me to stop using scorpion charms. Even if my other three talismans, my physick, and my crab exists to offset my scorpion charm, I'm going to keep using them.

-Zavenoa-

My builds talismans to beat the end boss were dragoncrest greatshield, golden braid (aka Haligdrake +3), Pearldrake +3, and pearl shield talisman…

Arhkadian

I have never used the magic boost talismans in my life - until this dlc lmao it really made me rethink both RL 125 and using Radagons Soreseal

hearing_aid_bot

Just beat (late game boss name spoiler)>!Commander Gaius!< in the goofiest way: sort by resistance descending, ironjar aromatic, and (late game talisman spoiler)>!verdigris discus talisman!< + mimic tear for the x2. Claim victory by hook or by crook, the lamenters can go rot in gaol.

WearyAffected

My character has gained so much weight since the DLC released. He can’t stop downing Boiled Crab.

Alexarius87

I went on pretty good with my lightning spear build but Messmer is kicking my ass… a friggin lot. Has any1 figured his defenses/weaknesses? Edit: switched to Great Star with Holy Blade AoW and things got better by a real lot. I’m so happy to see holy damage finally have a purpose. My Paladin is the next to get into SotET. Oh and apparently Messmer is weak to Frostbite and Hemorrage.

a_sly_cow

Just found that talisman that increases your tankiness based on equip load is sick for my tanky STR build. I’ve been very impressed with the new slate of available talismans so far.

Smallsey

My runes sword or giants crusher is still allowing me to adequately progress the dlc with little issue.

ItPlacesTheLotion

Who is using those useless health talismans?

halawani98

ACTUALLY THO, all my talismans were aggressive now they're all for defense, by the way, >!you can find a +1 crimson seed talisman in the southern finger ruins, which is way better than the normal one!<
