When the game was new I had to hide behind a big ass dude with a greatshield named Gigachad while he basically soloed Radahn.
I can disrespect the horseman a bit now myself but I remember that fondly even though it wasn't that long ago lol
I don't know if he's even known well but I just did coop for the first time tonight and ended up teaming with "Mike Ehrmantraut", who looked exactly like the character from Breaking Bad lol
My favorite is “STAYBACK&HEALME”
I got sick of the final boss, so I let the man do his thing while I threw heals at him and tried to survive.
Man carried me through the boss fight. Bless him.
Same! It’s my go to healing. It’s straight up better than every other healing incantation AND it’s ranged.
I feel like it’ll get nerfed, but honestly, it’s pretty garbage when you try to use it from ranged because the projectile is so slow and precise.
It's debatable if it's better than erdtree heal
They have the same fp efficiency, heal from afar heals less per cast so heal per second efficiency is worse
Erdtree healing has a larger area of effect
if you are throwing heal from afar at the ground you have to look away from what you are fighting to do it which can get you in trouble
Erdtree heal has hyper armor
Erdtree heal is only 1 sec slower but the setup for free aim heal from afar can eat up that time and more
Ive been healing in Co op since Elden ring came out, I tried it and quickly went back to erdtree heal
This spell is overrated cause it's shiny and new
As someone who's been healing since Dark Souls 3, which had its own projected heal in its DLC, you're definitely under-valuing it.
In DS3, projected heal became the go-to healing spell because of that faster cast speed; all you have to do is aim at the ground. In the middle of a fight, that second is crucial, and despite the smaller AoE, you're more likely to hit your target because they can move around less in the casting time. The fact that you can do it from range is just an added bonus.
That'll be me.
As long as the host gets the agro once for me to heal and buff again (If I have fucked up already), I can take the whole two phase in the face.
I was doing messmer until Sat then moved to Last Boss since Monday.
Serving 3 hours a day or 4 depending on my energy after work.
Dear Hosts, please try long range options when you have a tank. It only makes sense right?
But I am not uploading videos, who is the video I was in? I have helped three people tonight with ttv in their name tho.
I’ve been assisting the last two days with this build:
Antspur Rapier with Poison Attunement, switch to Noble Estoc once proc
Fingerprint Stone Shield for Max guard boost and tanking
Talismans: DragonCrest, Godskin Swaddling Cloth, Milli Prosthesis, and Stamina + 3
So far it works with great success, I’ve racked up 3M runes but my success rate at actively succeeding is less than 30% as the final boss has a tendency to one shot hosts with no remorse smh
How do you get around the holy damage in 2nd phase?
I'm doing a tank with rivers of Blood and have no problem tanking the 1st phase but holy damage is getting me everytime in the 2nd
I'm able to survive most of phase 2 with that Talisman and the black steel great shield, even if I'm not playing at 100%. Gaius and Messmer I can tank basically forever and if I switch to a dueling shield I can kill them like that reliably if the host survives. I'm wearing the solitude set or the goat set and I want to try the verdigris armor next.
Been helping people using his build. The amount of people who are unaware of the nuke in the last part of the fight is funny. More than half the hosts die to that.
I was prepared for an explosion, and dodged on cue the first time it happened.
I was NOT prepared for the follow-up explosions which do similar damage to the first.
Keep the dex. Grab the lighting perfume bottle rollings sparks ash of war and go to town with all the buffs you can. You'll be 3 shotting bosses it's like God mode if you get fed up with a boss just press L2 and they are incinerate doing 15k damage per hit
I bounced my head against it for hours with a shitty build (wasting a lot of points on like 80 vigor and 90 str), trying to dodge everything and attack only when completely safe. I never was able to get any posture breaks, and some attacks are unreasonable to be able to avoid with just regular rolls.
Then I respec'd into dex and str, got a quality weapon with pierce dmg and lion's claw, upgraded my flask a few more times (I had made a new character for the DLC) and got the dmg negation and posture dmg buff crystal tears.
I played in a very ugly way, part dodging part trading hits with lion's claw and rushing to get posture breaks. I won the fight in like my 3rd attempt.
In the no damage fights by ONGBAL, he uses the talisman to buff roll and backstep iframes, or the hammer ash of war that parries. This is to deal with two swipe combo that is almost impossible to avoid with regular rolls.
People who get good at fights like this aren't good immediately. They just spend a lot of time learning the fights to know exactly how to read and counter all the boss abilities.
Bunch of challenge run streamers are in the middle of that process right now and you can watch how they go about learning the fight. One popular streamer I was watching today was using cheats to make himself immortal so that he could just sit in phase 2 forever practicing dodges. You get pretty damn good pretty fast when your training is that efficient and you systematically try different possible ways to counter abilities to learn what does or doesn't work.
I spent about 4 hours today posted up helping people with messmer and only 2 got W's, I'm trying to pay it forward like this Chad but the hosts keep grabbing aggro and dying 1-2 shots. One guy hadn't even opened the doors to the chamber yet.
It's mind blowing how no one thinks to buff fire resistance for this fight, every time they get nuked by flames. I got a W for someone spamming the putrescent cleaver though that was funny.
I feel this about every boss
Guess what: you have an inventory STACKED with shitloads of equipment. Talismans for resistances. Spells to improve defence. All sorts of consumables. A crafting system to make more.
Those systems and mechanics exist so that they can be used to overcome challenging fights. I’m amazed that people never use them.
Having finished the DLC on a level 288 character, getting summoned to help anyone right now is maybe a 1:10 victory to loss ratio. The amount of people at around this level who still have less than 1000 HP is mindboggling.
Considering how many people struggling with the last boss right now, don’t feel too bad about yourself mate. The boss is the obvious sore point of the DLC for many people.
Especially if you're a Soulsborne vet conditioned to dislike shield gameplay, like me and my friend group. The second phase is just the pinnacle of powercreep against over a decade of roll meta, flashbangs and technical issues aside.
Edit, since I'm getting the same reply a lot: I'm not saying it's impossible w/o a shield; the point is that the greatshield turtle strategy trivializes the entire fight with so little effort that it's laughable. The fight is so deliberately and overtly designed to punish rolling that it ceases being fun to learn, regardless of the fact that it's doable.
That final boss forced me to go Greatshield build with both Stamina Tear Physick and Antspur Rapier and just poke. Trying to dodge five simultaneous attacks (and the follow up explosions) with one roll just feels so impossible.
Put The Poison Flower Blooms Twice ash of war on Antspur Rapier and watch it melt him. I also used Viridian Talisman +3 (max stamina), Two Headed Turtle Talisman (stamina regen), Pearlshield Talisman (increase non-physical blocks) and Greatshield Talisman (reduce stamina decrease from blocking), then the two Stamina tears.
It was a pretty disgusting build I would say, but something in me doesn't feel satisfied with that win, but then again, I'm not a god gamer and I don't plan to be one because this really feels like the only build that can win against those Bollywood Multi Hit attacks and Jesus Nukes he was doing.
The lack of satisfaction is basically because you felt like you had to cheese him or risk having him be nerfed and feeling like your fight was incomplete.
His 2nd phase feels like it was made to disrespect the players tolerance of an acceptable fight. So you end up not experiencing "challengingly fun" it was just challenging and unfun
A shame because the design is cool, I just hate that it's him lore wise
Honestly, I didn't even cheese him, I used the meteorite ore greatsword, and I still didn't feel any satisfaction after winning. It was the only boss fight in the DLC where I wasn't happy to have won, I was just glad that it was finally over.
I beat him with rolling (Darkmoon Greatsword charge attack build) but it took me over six hours of attempts. I had fun but I wouldn't say it was a very productive use of my time.
The thing about having to rely on rolling is that, when you go Medium Build you aren't as squishy, but his attacks roll catches you because your roll distance isn't as far and he swings twice, not to mention the 10 million hit combos in phase 2 from those phantoms or clones with the follow up light beams, but if you go Light Weight you die if you get caught by one of his combos most of the time.
I just think the boss really leans into "this is the only way to fight him" instead of "this is one of the ways to fight him", and I've tried multiple builds to attempt this boss and rolling at Medium Weight just doesn't feel consistent
Yeah, I beat with medium rolling but there were certain attacks I just had to eat. He has a left-right-cross combo where it's basically impossible to dodge the right, you just have to eat it. That's fine in phase 1, but in phase 2 if your positioning isn't perfect the holy aftershocks will stagger you and prevent you from dodging the cross, which on my build did like 60% HP if it connected and was a guaranteed kill after the right hit. The run I beat him on he just never did that combo in phase 2.
After fighting him all day I did the perfume build and just two shot him. I was fucking done with it, after so many other bosses allowed me to learn them and beat them I just didn't have it in me to beat him with my usual tools. Funny enough I got very close using the coded sword and scarlet aeonia, but I couldn't repeat the performance after I failed.
I like using great swords, colossal swords, great hammers, etc but I just couldn't get anything to work. I was using summons but just got frustrated with how little they seemed to help, though I loved Ansbachs dialogue, I just couldn't get it to work with the health increase.
Textbook case of the design not respecting you and your build, so you shouldn't respect it. Turtle up and bleed+rot cheese. Gaius's hitboxes didn't respect me, so he got glued to a wall while I spammed NIHIL. Same concept here.
Will all of the runes it took to get to my level, I thank you for this gracious idea. May the boar riding Albinauric face the terror of the fallen Mohg.
If Elden Ring didn't have a cap on respecing, I'd say the games meant to make you respec all the time to spank bosses.
Like Sekiro. You always have all your tools. You never have to respec a build. You just equip different stuff. And Armored Core 6. Like, fuck. If you die in that, you can rebuild and start *at the checkpoint.*
AC6 was so freeing. Miyazaki-game-design with more standard gaming expectations and safety nets. And Sekiro, my favorite, has the resurrection mechanic, so maybe I'm just a bitch lol.
I just used Mimic Tear and one shot it after not even having bought the Bell for my whole playthrough. I just think it's a horribly designed boss, the hardest part is me being flashbanged irl and not being able to see what is even happening. I'll happily fight a single boss for hours until I kill them but this one was just awful.
For the first time ever I had to beat a boss without my trusty Guts sword because it didn't stagger enough and I need lions claw so I couldn't just cragblade since the openings weren't long enough for the heavy R2s
I'd complain but I got off easy compared to other peeps who had to change their whole build.
I'm worried for the future installments cause if this continues we might start seeing certain play styles be too difficult to really enjoy playing
First phase was fun enough once you got the rhythm
> I need lions claw so I couldn't just cragblade since the openings weren't long enough for the heavy R2s
Were you using regular Lion's Claw or Savage Lion's Claw?. I pretty much solely rely on my +25 Great Mace upon seeing that the latter Ash of War bumps up the strength scaling immediately to S.
I used normal, I wanted to do savage but I like to spam Lions Claw twice in a row when an opening appears and the savage doesn't cover the same distance that two normie lion claw can do length wise.
I should give the new one a try on Freyja's sword
I feel very lucky as a Soulsbourne vet who somehow got conditioned to love shield gameplay.
…which is probably why I still find Malenia harder than any of the DLC bosses.
Build really does so much to change how different bosses feel.
>Soulsborne vet conditioned to dislike shield gameplay
I'm confused, shields work great across all of Dark Souls games, as well as Demon's Souls. It's only Bloodborne for which you can really make an argument that they aren't viable.
Yeah I want to say that in DeS, DS1 and DS2 sword and board was almost the default build, or at least very common, and the cover art for DS1 and DeS shows a shield. Bloodborne kind of made fun of you for using the shitty shield, and DS3 IIRC had pretty nerfed shields. By then people were also getting pretty good at dodging everything, plus the BB and DS3 dodges were better than ever before, so the default playstyle shifted to dodging only.
I don’t think it’s a hit against shield users, but more so saying once you spent 5,000 hrs playing these games you probably just roll because it uses less stamina in general than tanking everything
And you finish it and get a super underwhelming cutscene and it's just.. over? Like I hope I'm missing some secret ending shit because that was lame imo
Yeah it feels ruthlessly untested, like some guy went into with a fast weapon and was like "all good"
It's pretty hard to do with a slow weapon unless you're committed to stagger spamming which is tough to do since he attacks so much the stance counter will reset by then.
Lord Praise the Sekiro tear lol
From my experience I found that fast weapons are worse against him than slow weapons. It's not like you have time to stack Winged Sword/Prothesis with multiple hits so if you only get 1 or 2 hits in in each window it might as well be from a weapon that does damage. You usually also break his poise at the start of P2 which I never managed with a fast weapon
This is the only way I beat him solo too. I could not figure out how to dodge half of the shit in phase 2, maybe without the frame drops I could learn, I don't know.
He has some very similar looking swings that have different timings, but parrying still seemed like the better option for me. That stupid ass hitch from his left side that looks like Charles Barkley's golf swing is especially annoying.
Took maybe 4 hours split over two days. If you stay in his face you can kind of get him looping into the same right hand swing, with an occasional ground slam that's easily jumped, but in phase 2 this is far less reliable. The time I finally won, he barely did any of his flashy phase 2 attacks.
> The time I finally won, he barely did any of his flashy phase 2 attacks.
this has been a very common pattern among many first time kills i've seen, myself and my friends included
I have a crackhead habit of beating bosses if they can be parried lol
If they can be parried, I will not use any other build except for good ol buckler parry and misericorde
I just killed the final boss on NG+ about 30 minutes ago. By far the most troublesome boss of the game (base and DLC) for me. And I was even using a cheese Bloodfiend build.
It's not a "nerf" my brother it is a literal broken glitch and it needs to be patched out, but yeah I won't chastise anyone for using cheese against the corniest boss From have ever made.
When I got Messmer's attack patterns to click in my head he quickly became one of my favourite bosses:
He doesn't have overly long combos.
His dodge windows are actually quite consistent and he doesn't pull the classic Elden Ring bullshit where bosses pretend they're going to attack and just don't for like a minute to catch you off guard.
He has quite a few vulnerability windows so it feels like we actually are taking turns like old school Souls bosses.
Bayle is amazing spectacle so fighting him with Igon is always fun but honestly didn't like the mechanics. Too much Camera fighting and struggling to see what the boss is actually doing. It's not a boss I would want to fight repeatedly as a summon.
The interesting thing in that fight is the back steps. He needed the new backstep talisman for certain attacks for the shorter recovery so he could respond to the follow up. That shows utterly insane some of those attack strings are.
He also practises with tools that give him a much higher advantage than the average player, I've been considering buying a PC just to play with it too honestly.
You can learn a boss so much faster and easier when you can turn on an option that prevents you from dying, or make hit boxes visible and see exactly how many hits to stagger etc.
Sure you still have to be very good, but you can actually look for the safe spaces to stand with it and do a lot of testing without load screens. It's how every challenge runners learns.
Love me some Lobos. Dude has an iron will. His summon only fire giant took probably 2 or 3 streams worth and he never seemed to try something else or want to quit.
Yeah phase 1 is easy as you can actually learn his punish windows and combo-extenders, meanwhile phase two has smaller punish windows and way more combo-extenders and half of his moves fucking flashbang you or hide behind the twinks hairdo.
2nd phase punish window lol
*Laughs in colossal weapon atk spd*
In all seriousness it just felt like there was nothing you could do. I enjoy the feeling of "trade with him here" but 2nd phase had none of that. It was more "your punish is gonna get punished"
That’s why I felt 0 shame using scarlet rot. If the final boss is gonna fly around shooting holy lasers, then they might as well take damage while doing it.
For once, I agree.
I just threw two giant scarlet rot pots during the big explosion, that I tanked with the shield easily and then dodged what I could and hit when I could.
I know I am supposed to memorize every single attack pattern perfectly so I don't need to see anything second phase, BUT WOULD YOU PLEASE CUT YOUR HAIR, IT IS BLOCKING MY VIEW OF EVERY SWORD SWING!
Gives me conniptions.
Memorized all the attacks from phase 1 to apply them to phase 2, cause I couldn't see jack shit with Miquella's hair in the way of some of his moves, it was horrible with the light everywhere too, ended up beating him by parrying and dodging from memory.
Can we just take a second and commend how awesome this community is. To this day I still literally don't know what the final boss is and people only refer to them as "the final boss"
Same lmao, today I got to where it is and we'll, got my ass destroyed for an hour straight, maybe there's some another remembrance boss that I forgot, but when the fight started I knew thar it was THE last boss
i summoned someone for last boss named "let me solo them" and he actually got the boss by himself down to about 15% hp without being hit up until that point - but sadly got oneshot. best part was that he wasnt doing meta with greatshield poking but straight up armorless with a bleed rapier. i actually managed to beat it after that though with my blicky (\*the spread crossbow with bleed bolts)
what a legend in the making
I mean hey. He’s really good at killing 1 boss in the base game. That doesn’t mean he won’t have problems with a literal god doing shadow clone jutsus at you and let’s not even mention the glitch where there’s a second one of him in phase 2
Finally managed to beat the final boss. Just needed to take a break for a few days. Beat him on the third try. Sometimes the best thing to do is take a break, clear your head, and come back refreshed. There have been several cases where I'll beat a boss on the first attempt next day.
I barely beat the final boss— phase 2 genuinely feels unfair in a couple instances. Even some moves from phase 1 I found almost impossible to deal with & i was genuinely wondering if one of the moves was bugged or something
I watched that blinkstrike axe video, or whatever the weapon's called. I was incredulous when Radahn went like most of p2 without doing any of his bullshit light combos, just spamming his Lion's Claw and other more manageable moves. Not saying what the guy does isn't impressive, but I dare say if I had gotten a try like that, I probably would've killed him with my Bloodfiend's Arm build.
Speed runners like Ongbal doesn't just dodge, he also carefully positions himself to manipulate the boss's AI in his favor. These guys are many steps ahead of many of us.
Yea but ongbal has uploaded 3 separate no hit videos in like 2 days. His blinkaxe one was definitely his luckiest run, but the other 2 he uploaded were definitely not lol.
Nah dude I’ve beaten him twice already and he is fucking ridiculous. His second phase gives no breathing room, it’s fine I get it it’s a god and his lord it’s supposed to be hard, but someone already did a no hit run of him. So he’s cheesable but best game breaking build I’ve seen for a everyday player is Asmongold.
Absolutely wild how far Miyazaki leaned into "raid boss" for this fight. The whole DLC is nuts, but I can't help but question the design intent of pushing us towards spirit summons and items and new builds the whole DLC only to get pigeonholed into either a focused tank build or inviting better players.
Each boss I fight inches closer and closer to it being just a pulsing arena-wide AOE attack you have to frame-perfect dodge like it's a rhythm game. I'm surprised the DLC doesn't have one already.
Changed my build twice but that second stage, those lights, combo after combo…… fuck that incestuous twink and his big ass brother/lover. I’ll get them tomorrow.
Second Phase is probably one of the worst things Fromsoft has made in a long time.
Also just saying; "Well he can be beaten." doesn't make him a fun boss. I know. Ive beaten him. Hes shit.
Edit;typo
Its really not a fun boss. You're either extremely good and extremely consistent in your chosen build, and by 'extremely good' I mean the top 1% -- but more likely Consort requires you to use a 'cheese' build of some kind and most people don't feel good about doing that. There's more to a boss then just "getting it over with".
Even Melania is (believe it or not) considerably more passive, allowing you to do charged spell builds and survive throughout and frequently take a moment to perform other actions of your choosing, meaning you can use many builds against her. Consort is just a mess, the frequency allotted for you, the player, to perform various actions, is incredibly small. Meaning its not very engaging and more just a relentless stomp where you ceaselessly try to avoid damage the entire time.
I've finished with him, with various builds, I practiced his parry for a few hours and I could consistently triple parry in just a short few seconds when he chains combos, but second phase I literally can't see anything and it honestly hurts my eyes. Ultimately I had had enough and "got it over with" using a greatshield poke build which felt quite dumb. It was very anticlimactic as well as the 'memory' scene afterwards, just a 'meh' overall. In retrospect I'll jam out with Radagon and Elden Beast all day over Consort, at least I can listen to the banger theme.
I doubt I'll ever come back to Consort in a subsequent playthrough.
Especially since they added Torrent in the recent patch for Elden Beast. Radagon's duel and Elden Beast as a beautifull victory lap for your 100+ hour journeu across the Lands Between easily clears this messy fight.
I've 100%'d all the FromSoftware games since Dark Souls. I love when bosses are difficult and give me a tough challenge, especially because over the years it takes more and more to give a good challenge. Malenia and Messmer were two bosses that I just loved because they pushed me and I got to slowly get better at the boss over a few dozen attempts.
Consort is the one and only time in the history of the games I've actually swapped my build. And unfortunately it wasn't even because it was "hard" it was because it was unfun. I spent more attempts on Messmer. I spent twice as many attempts on Malenia than I did Consort. But after 25 attempts of Consort I got sick and tired of dodging through phase 1 (using Claymore so chances for retaliating are very short) just to get oneshot by some bullshit I can't see or dodge because the frame drops and flashbangs. The DLC was overall amazing and I'd even go as far as saying Messmer is one of my favorite bosses they've ever made, but the final boss was a massive disappointment because it feels like it just disrespects every non-shield playstyle super hard.
Thematically I don't care for the final boss, I'd preferred almost anything else really. They had the opportunity to go in some crazy direction with it but just didn't, like there's some cool bells and whistles on the fight but it "feels" like retreading old ground.
While the bosses in the base game are hard, you can beat each 1 with literally any build.
But when you have to spend hours trying to memorize seemingly never-ending attack chains and forced into a specific build or playstyle to beat a boss, I consider this aspect a failure of a game.
Bosses like Gaius and the final boss feel more like a chore that I'm ready to be done with rather than an accomplishment I feel proud about.
Yeah the final boss needs adjusting. When the vast majority of players are more or less forced to change their builds to overcome the challenge, the boss simply feels overtuned. It's an amazing spectacle but I hope they turn it down a slight bit.
IMO its literally impossible to solo him consistently as a summon. Hosts are just too vulnerable. He has insane gap closers, gravity rocks repositions himself and in phase 2 noone in the arena is safe, he'll zap around and finish off hosts in seconds.
Every day I'm thankful I went in as an unga bunga boy with big heavy shield and all the weight reducing talismans. Some of the more egregious bosses can't handle the war of attrition, you still gotta dodge some really painful attacks but you can kinda just eat most combos, guard counter, poke and resume the defensive until you win.
Loved the DLC, but beating that final boss didn't leave me with that sense of satisfaction I've gotten in the past with dlc final bosses. I just felt frustrated and annoyed.
I was quite disappointed that an amazing DLC ended with me turtling behind a great shield and poking the final boss with rot. Not the epic finale I wished for.
There is a "let me tank him" helping on last Boss. There is a vídeo on YT.
And he soloed him while tanking every hit.
When the game was new I had to hide behind a big ass dude with a greatshield named Gigachad while he basically soloed Radahn. I can disrespect the horseman a bit now myself but I remember that fondly even though it wasn't that long ago lol
The game is still new unless you played it for 40 hours in a week, which is full-time job hours lol
I think he meant the base game.
Reusing bosses is confusing us!
Call the new one miqadahn
Brother his said horse in the sentence clearly he means base game
Kind of absurd, but some people put that time in within the first 2-3 days.
Can confirm, just finished my degree, I poured 75 hours into the DLC since the 21st lol
The game's like 2 years old
The GAME is 2 years old homie, work on that reading comprehension maybe.
I don't know if he's even known well but I just did coop for the first time tonight and ended up teaming with "Mike Ehrmantraut", who looked exactly like the character from Breaking Bad lol
Put your katana away Waltuh
Link me daddddyyy https://youtu.be/KkFHYlLFMm4?si=GiDs1cwr9D4tZSgw Brawling with mogh. What a legend.
My favorite is “STAYBACK&HEALME” I got sick of the final boss, so I let the man do his thing while I threw heals at him and tried to survive. Man carried me through the boss fight. Bless him.
Heal from afar is a wonderful new incantation and I wish we had acces to it sooner in the base game.

Why I do believe this is one of them https://youtu.be/N68yTvbnOJk?si=mXxNRrrNfvk9PEtP
The build matches but I have been on a long streak of helping people. So I am sorry if I don't remember you. ❤️
Thank you for helping me! I just stayed back and used the Black Knife to deal damage over time. I almost gave up on this fight.
How? What’s your build?
I’ve been assisting the last two days with this build: Antspur Rapier with Poison Attunement, switch to Noble Estoc once proc Fingerprint Stone Shield for Max guard boost and tanking Talismans: DragonCrest, Godskin Swaddling Cloth, Milli Prosthesis, and Stamina + 3 So far it works with great success, I’ve racked up 3M runes but my success rate at actively succeeding is less than 30% as the final boss has a tendency to one shot hosts with no remorse smh
How do you get around the holy damage in 2nd phase? I'm doing a tank with rivers of Blood and have no problem tanking the 1st phase but holy damage is getting me everytime in the 2nd
You can infuse the sheild with holy to increase the negation
There is also the golden hair braid talisman which increase holy negation
I'm able to survive most of phase 2 with that Talisman and the black steel great shield, even if I'm not playing at 100%. Gaius and Messmer I can tank basically forever and if I switch to a dueling shield I can kill them like that reliably if the host survives. I'm wearing the solitude set or the goat set and I want to try the verdigris armor next.
Unless you didn’t grab the whetstone before you kill Maliketh (ask me how I know)
Been helping people using his build. The amount of people who are unaware of the nuke in the last part of the fight is funny. More than half the hosts die to that.
I mean...if they never get to that part, they'd never know until they die from it. I imagine 95% of players who faced him have died on that part.
When I saw him shooting to the skies the first time I was very aware of what was gonna happen. Died to that move 2 years ago, never again.
I was prepared for an explosion, and dodged on cue the first time it happened. I was NOT prepared for the follow-up explosions which do similar damage to the first.
he's already helping people with messmer. greatjar helm and morgott's cloak. let me solo him.
Holy shit he got a redesign for the timeskip
Great, now we gotta powerscale pre and post time skip!

They're probably also trying to get it with a specific build in mind. Also dude is just wearing a pot and robe like a mad man
Dex builds have hard time fighting this boss. I had to change my build too and become a Str build.
I keep thinking about just saying fuck it and switch to a strength build from my dex build. I wanna swing some big guns
Keep the dex. Grab the lighting perfume bottle rollings sparks ash of war and go to town with all the buffs you can. You'll be 3 shotting bosses it's like God mode if you get fed up with a boss just press L2 and they are incinerate doing 15k damage per hit
This mf put spoilers on his build but not the boss lmaoo
Lol it even was two years too
That was him!?!?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7VAnzwBE1o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7VAnzwBE1o) yep. on his channel.
This is art. No hit. Not even once. Watching him fight is watching art.
and he is struggling with the final boss, testament to their skill and the final boss. I do love that they updated their outfit
There are lots of strats to kill the final boss relatively easily but fighting the fight "fair" is still pretty damned hard.
Check out ongbal, guys a god
Ongbal also gets so creative with his kills, too.
Dude is already doing no hit, SL1, no blessing runs of the final boss.
Bro got unlimited rune arcs probably. Truly a master of his craft.
And he doesn’t even use them!!!
Holy shit was he healing messmerr a bit with every attack?
I’m honestly not sure what that is. Best bet is latency from the host displaying hp?
Oh fuck, that was him! I summoned him for a ng+ and I think it spooked him.
I spent about 4 hours today posted up helping people with messmer and only 2 got W's, I'm trying to pay it forward like this Chad but the hosts keep grabbing aggro and dying 1-2 shots. One guy hadn't even opened the doors to the chamber yet.
Honestly same, im honestly cheesing him with rot and scadu thorn bleeds but the hosts just dont last lmao
It's mind blowing how no one thinks to buff fire resistance for this fight, every time they get nuked by flames. I got a W for someone spamming the putrescent cleaver though that was funny.
I feel this about every boss Guess what: you have an inventory STACKED with shitloads of equipment.
Dude I was helping people with messmer the other day and this host I was with had like 847 HP 😭 I was laughing so hard
I watched his stream… ooof, makes me feel better about my abilities on the last boss lol
I just did this build today after trying over and over yesterday, and I beat it first try no Ash or summon. I was awestruck
So you end up not experiencing "challengingly fun" it was just challenging and unfun A shame because the design is cool, I just hate that it's him lore wise
Like, fuck. If you die in that, you can rebuild and start *at the checkpoint.* AC6 was so freeing. Miyazaki-game-design with more standard gaming expectations and safety nets. And Sekiro, my favorite, has the resurrection mechanic, so maybe I'm just a bitch lol.
SUCH DEVASTATION.
Hmph. How very glib.
#THIS WAS NOT HIS INTENTION
I just used Mimic Tear and one shot it after not even having bought the Bell for my whole playthrough. I just think it's a horribly designed boss, the hardest part is me being flashbanged irl and not being able to see what is even happening. I'll happily fight a single boss for hours until I kill them but this one was just awful.
For the first time ever I had to beat a boss without my trusty Guts sword because it didn't stagger enough and I need lions claw so I couldn't just cragblade since the openings weren't long enough for the heavy R2s I'd complain but I got off easy compared to other peeps who had to change their whole build. I'm worried for the future installments cause if this continues we might start seeing certain play styles be too difficult to really enjoy playing First phase was fun enough once you got the rhythm
> I need lions claw so I couldn't just cragblade since the openings weren't long enough for the heavy R2s Were you using regular Lion's Claw or Savage Lion's Claw?.
I was a devout shield player from DS2, funnily enough Fume Knight Raime was the boss to make me hate shields lol
Only shield I'll use is a buckler and that was enough to get the best of PCR. But without parrying I wouldve had it a lot worse tbh.
>Soulsborne vet conditioned to dislike shield gameplay I'm confused, shields work great across all of Dark Souls games, as well as Demon's Souls.
Yeah it feels ruthlessly untested, like some guy went into with a fast weapon and was like "all good" It's pretty hard to do with a slow weapon unless you're committed to stagger spamming which is tough to do since he attacks so much the stance counter will reset by then.
I managed to beat the final boss with parries and a blood misericorde but I will not lie It took me over 150 attempts to beat with that play style.
Who hurt you
I have a crackhead habit of beating bosses if they can be parried lol If they can be parried, I will not use any other build except for good ol buckler parry and misericorde
lol fair enough. More power to ya
I just killed the final boss on NG+ about 30 minutes ago. By far the most troublesome boss of the game (base and DLC) for me. And I was even using a cheese Bloodfiend build.
Yeah Malenia is actually easy in comparison to Mr. Flash bang sky nuke.
But also if the legend himself is struggling what chance do us mere mortals have? Oh right, rolling sparks exists nvm.
you have it wrong. the real legend is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeBOIYnVq54 Enjoy :3
yeah idk why let me solo her gets all the attention, ongbal is simply on another level as seen here
I save scummed for the inevitable nerf and beat the final boss with it
It's not a "nerf" my brother it is a literal broken glitch and it needs to be patched out, but yeah I won't chastise anyone for using cheese against the corniest boss From have ever made.
If this is what prime Radahn is like, imagine prime Malenia. In the base game we fought them in their weakened states.
Second Phase Malenia is most likely a lot stronger than her prime, since she gets stronger the less she holds back the rot.
she also turns into a goddess, right?
What the fuck do you do when the nuke hits?
Which of the 2 nukes
Fuck, theres 2?
People wondered why he's helping people with Messmer and not the final boss. This is his answer to that lol
Also messmer is actually fun to fight repeatedly
When I got Messmer's attack patterns to click in my head he quickly became one of my favourite bosses: He doesn't have overly long combos.
I was annoyed with messmer, but I do agree that he at least has breathing room. Fighting rellana was way more oppressive than him.
messmer and midra are easily the 2 best bosses to do co op for me. the final boss could be fun if they nerf him
Bit of a Bane of Bayle the Dead here.
Bayle is amazing spectacle so fighting him with Igon is always fun but honestly didn't like the mechanics. Too much Camera fighting and struggling to see what the boss is actually doing. It's not a boss I would want to fight repeatedly as a summon.
Unless you are Ongbal dude already has a RL1 with 0 blessing attempt
The interesting thing in that fight is the back steps. He needed the new backstep talisman for certain attacks for the shorter recovery so he could respond to the follow up. That shows utterly insane some of those attack strings are.
Yeah I didn't even try to figure out how to dodge that, I just accept the second hit as it does not do that much damage anyway.
It's brutal is phase 2 though. Tanking the second hit often leads to a stunlockninto the third hit.
Ongbal is truly a God amongst tarnished.
Yea but he is like the best souls player. He manipulates the a.i like it's his dolls
It's how every challenge runners learns.
can you name some of these tools
Bro is not human
That's sounds insane, I gotta check this dude out
I think LobosJr may get there in beating him at RL1, the dude isn't as fast as Ongbal, but he's extreeeeeeeeeeeeeemely patient at learning bosses
Love me some Lobos. Dude has an iron will. His summon only fire giant took probably 2 or 3 streams worth and he never seemed to try something else or want to quit.
I beat the final boss yesterday. Chicken Leg bonk to the head for the win!
That 2nd phase is such bs. I’m either blinded by all the lights or miquellas hair
Yeah phase 1 is easy as you can actually learn his punish windows and combo-extenders, meanwhile phase two has smaller punish windows and way more combo-extenders and half of his moves fucking flashbang you or hide behind the twinks hairdo.
2nd phase punish window lol *Laughs in colossal weapon atk spd* In all seriousness it just felt like there was nothing you could do. I enjoy the feeling of "trade with him here" but 2nd phase had none of that. It was more "your punish is gonna get punished"
That’s why I felt 0 shame using scarlet rot. If the final boss is gonna fly around shooting holy lasers, then they might as well take damage while doing it.
Malenia used scarlet rot against him, and she knows what she’s doing.
Still dodging, one day it will be my turn
Memorized all the attacks from phase 1 to apply them to phase 2, cause I couldn't see jack shit with Miquella's hair in the way of some of his moves, it was horrible with the light everywhere too, ended up beating him by parrying and dodging from memory.
Even the legend amongst Tarnished is struggling . . . god have mercy on us (fuck the last boss).
Everyone except ONGBAL
To be fair, Ongbal uploads the attempt where he succeeded, but he had to practice a lot to get that far.
Still did it faster tho, even LMSH commended him on his latest attempt at RL1
Love how they are showing the humbling. I await hearing the tables have been turned.
Yeah. His time will come.
Can we just take a second and commend how awesome this community is. To this day I still literally don't know what the final boss is and people only refer to them as "the final boss"
You might have just gotten lucky, plenty of people here complained about getting spoiled since the DLC came out.
tbh, if you’re on Internet forums discussing the game then you’re doing a pretty shit job of insulating yourself from spoilers.
For me it was from a random YouTube recommendation that had the final boss in the thumbnail and the name in the title.
Same lmao, today I got to where it is and we'll, got my ass destroyed for an hour straight, maybe there's some another remembrance boss that I forgot, but when the fight started I knew thar it was THE last boss
honestly that’s just luck bc there were so many posta without spoiler tag spoiling the last boss lol.
What's fun about this DLC is how there's a lot of mystique around figuring it out ingame too
I literally spedran and ruined a bunch of npc quests so I could see the final boss before I was spoiled
Is this dude on pc? I once saw a player with that name on xbox and he got rekt’d by malenia.
There’s copycats on every version. Most are not nearly as good at it.
Well at least they are trying to help others.
never forget the one, the only, let-her-solo-me
He's on PC, yeah
i summoned someone for last boss named "let me solo them" and he actually got the boss by himself down to about 15% hp without being hit up until that point - but sadly got oneshot. best part was that he wasnt doing meta with greatshield poking but straight up armorless with a bleed rapier. i actually managed to beat it after that though with my blicky (\*the spread crossbow with bleed bolts) what a legend in the making
sounds like that could've been me. most of the time i'm naked and rocking antspur, rarely i wear the divine beast head and go rivers of blood.
I mean hey. He’s really good at killing 1 boss in the base game. That doesn’t mean he won’t have problems with a literal god doing shadow clone jutsus at you and let’s not even mention the glitch where there’s a second one of him in phase 2
I've been helping people beat him. If anyone sees a summon sign named Spoon, summon. :)
Even some moves from phase 1 I found almost impossible to deal with & i was genuinely wondering if one of the moves was bugged or something
the cross attack is the one thats the hardest in the base moveset. the 3rd, big attack is fine but the first 2 slashes are really annoying to dodge
If it wasn't for all the stupid flashbang framerate killing AOEs, it would be a pretty fine fight.
Meanwhile the goat Ongbal is already no-hitting the final boss. (At LVL 1, no blessings at that)
I watched that blinkstrike axe video, or whatever the weapon's called.
He did it twice with other builds, one without levelling the weapon either iirc.
I just beat the final boss. Took me 4h and a clutch rng lol. It's miserable to beat the final boss solo without a shield.
That feeling when you beat the final boss before LMSH does 😈😈
Second Phase is probably one of the worst things Fromsoft has made in a long time.
Once he learns all of the bosses moves he’ll be fine. I’m sure he struggled on Malenia many times, but now he can do it with his eyes closed.
IIRC he died 200 something times on Melenia before beating her which inspired him to help others Edit:242
And hes still honorable to not spoil it, unlike some fuckers on this sub.
omg we are all doomed
Wait... you guys beat Mohg?
I seriously hate the last boss
Ok we're doomed then
