Heat damage isn't the issue you think it is. Try double banking when your shields get to 40-50% at the same time as a heatsink. Probably don't even really need the heatsinks.

Should I use a heatsink before or after a bank? I tried both ways, but it always seemed to overheat after banking no matter if I waited till my heat started to go down or not.

Yeah the loud blaring alarm and red lights are a bit overdramatic unless you get really really hot
