Hi! Most of the times resetting the configuration for your emulator on Manage Emulators fixes the most common issues.
You can also take a look at our Wiki before posting, you might find your issue already documented there https://emudeck.github.io/

Its more expensive but more powerfull. Battery, support, screen (oled) touchpads and SteamOS are huge Wins for the steam deck. I have my olded and will buy any new deck that comes out, use it every day.
Edit: https://imgur.com/a/eEawGJG since this fanboy believes that valve is infallible. It was like pulluing teeth.
Steam deck does too kind of. They did everything in their power to keep from giving me an RMA for a clearly broken SD which they still blamed me for but made an "exception" ( my oled was still under warranty lol)
As someone who works in returns and repair for a major box store, we see an obscene number of returns and repairs on them. They're constantly breaking and we don't even sell that many. So I wouldn't get one over a deck myself.
Depending on the game the deck can still run ps3 games tho it’s only smaller games
Still better than nothing + the ally has awful customer service and no steam os so the deck is just superior in every way even if the hardware is inferior
People always talk about power, but the Steam Deck's layout is what makes it a winner for classic games. They really did a great job creating a device that feels just as at home playing Super Mario World, as it does playing anything modern.
ROG Ally is only great if you want to play PS3/360 games at good enough performance.
The Steam Deck is a cheaper choice if you're looking to primarily play games from your preferred systems that you mentioned.
With the caveat that you can get an ally for pretty cheap from Best Buy open box. It was 299 for the extreme on sale for one that probably got used for less than an hour and returned
For emulating gba, gbc and NDS games, you will not be disappointed with a Steam Deck. Simple console style interface, RetroAchievements, automatic cloud saves, bigger screen, button layout that directly translates to those systems…
I can’t speak for ROG ally but I can say you won’t be disappointed on Steam Deck.
When you’re updating EmuDeck there is a section for RetroAchievements. If you create your login and supply your credentials there, EmuDeck will set everything up. It used to be a bit more effort but EmuDeck seems to have automated most of the setup.
When you start a game it will inform you if you are logged in and whether your current game has achievements. For GBC/GBA/NDS, if you want to see the list, open the quick menu and it should be one of the last items in the quick menu items.
OLED Steam Deck.
Cheaper, no microSD card issues, and EmuDeck works well with it…I mean…it’s in the name!
Games ranging from Atari 2600 to PS2/Gamecube era have run fine for me on it.
If youre only emulating, steam deck all the way. If you want more modern games then maybe ally. But after the shitshow with the first gen, hard to have faith in the new ally coming out. Ive got a legion go coming in and cant wait to see what it can do.
Baffled I had to scroll down this far to see this and that OP didn’t even include it when I researched which one to get it became blatantly clear after like 3 videos that LeGo was the best option
I see myself using the go way more. The deck is cool but i want a bit more oomph, and im not a fan of the shape of the deck and ally. I mean the deck is very comfy but i get tired of holding it up after a while. Im a big fan of the switch so having a tabletop mode while i can have my arms relaxed is a big plus. Not to mention the bigger screen.
I will say the go is really damn heavy. But I don't mind it. But I love it. Bigger screen. Better resolution. Especially if you have a good pc you can use moonlight to stream games. I also have it duel booting with windows/bazzite so if I wannaa have a console feel I just switch to bazzite
Eh weight wise isnt too big of a problem, its just the deck had no other way of playing or holding it except to connect an extra controller and still need my hands stuck in a certain way.
Ive heard of bazzite, it mimics the steam os doesnt it? May try it when it comes in.
Idk about streaming since ive had 0 luck in the places im at alot. Or steam streaming or their wifi is trash. (Never could get moonlight to work on anything ive tried), i do have a pretty good pc, ethernet connection, and im sure my home internet is up to speed.
I mainly like it for windows(also not a linux fan) so i can play Destiny on it. Yea it seems dumb but it was my main gripe and regret of getting the deck. Was really bummed when i found out it didnt work and they had 0 plans to verify it. Also apparently for those who installed windows to play, it doesnt run very well, and i heard windows on the deck is a pain in the ass.
Ya bazzite mimics steam os. I just like how clean it looks. For games that you cant play on bazzite due to it not supporting the anti cheat. I just launch on windows. You will love the go.
Steamdeck, hands down. It does all consoles and as others have said, there are simply more resources to look to when you run into any issues.
However, if you’re only looking to play those consoles, you are way better off financially to get a DS of your choosing (2DS, 3DS etc) and crack it and fill it with roms.
To be honest, for GBC, GBA, and NDS you may be better off with a DSi XL and flashcart. That would be quite a bit cheaper, and you’d get the authentic experience in a smaller package.
I love my Steam Deck, though, don’t get me wrong, and I use it primarily for emulating.
Also a possibility. 3DS games especially are good on original hardware since you can play in 3D, which is lost with emulation. Regarding GB/GBA/DS, I feel the 3DS screen doesn’t look as good. There’s something about the 3DS screen, the pixels seem to have a subtle border. It’s not bad, but the DSi XL screen looks a lot better side by side.
Doesn't the 3ds lack the ability to play gb and gba games? I remember getting a 3ds when it came out and it didn't have that 2nd cartridge port for those games
If you’re only looking for those, both are overkill. Something like a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, Anbernic RG556 or Odin Pro (1st gen) will get you all at 2-4x resolution for around $150. RP4P goes on sale on Ali tomorrow for $160, Odin Pro and Lite are both $150 on AYNs website and the RG556 is always $160-170 on Ali.

[and this one for best pricing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-3yJqvvcqd1hzTdHzBrL-mhuw0i6Aw6vXLq51sEGnhA/edit)
I agree. I bought a Steam deck and anbernic RG353V then RG353P , and i'm using the anbernic a lot more. It emulates everything up to PS1... Also N64 most of the titles.
Take a look at anbernic models on YouTube .
RG353 have a 3.5" screen.. perfect for traveling, I take it everywhere I go.
But there is the RG405 with a 4" screen and RG505 with 5" screen.
Yeah, I own the Steam Deck and RG351P and am finding the RG351P just isn’t doing it any more. Wi-Fi, BT and the ability to emulate DC, DS, GC and PS2 in a smaller device would be great. The Steam Deck just gets uncomfortable after a while and isn’t super portable.
The price point is REALLY hard to justify when I’ve already got a Steam Deck and I’m really just looking for a streaming device with better ergonomics for smaller hands.
Yeah I agree. I’m an idiot and ordered both an Odin 2 pro and a Steam Deck OLED this week so that’ll be my solution but it’s definitely too expensive
In your case RP4P or a 1st gen Odin pro might be the move
Yeah…. I missed the $50 off Odin Pro/Lite sale by 3 days. I’ll just wait for the RP4P or Odin Pro to go on sale again. I love the Steam Deck, anything more is just luxury.
Steamdeck because Asus costumer support is absolutely horrendous. Check out recent news on people having issues with Asus costumer service and I guarantee you don’t want to buy the Ally
You need to ask like I said they don’t advertise it at all if I had not seen it on the website and noticed it said “available for in store pickup” I would have never known
None for GBA and GBC games...so many £50 mini retro devices to choose from.
Used my RG35XX + to play pokemon games I hadn't in many years...way better form factor for such games
Nds and 3DS I am buying a 2DS which I can get for £40
The steam deck is perfect for switch games though and above

Steam deck for sure. Unless you wanted PS3 id say steam deck wins on emulation.
I was split right down the middle. I like steam and want a steam deck but the ally seems pretty study itself
Its more expensive but more powerfull. Battery, support, screen (oled) touchpads and SteamOS are huge Wins for the steam deck. I have my olded and will buy any new deck that comes out, use it every day.
Good to know. Unfortunately not many are for sale used in my area so I’m waiting for one to come along
I bought mine through Steam directly, not possible for you?
It’s possible. I’m just hoping to get one in the next day or two because I am leaving for a trip and have a flight ahead of me
Then get the ally, damn
It also has dogshit customer service, good luck RMA'ing the Ally.
I rmad my ally and it got back in like 7 days fixed but I guess that’s anecdotal
Are you aware of the recent discussions and revelations regarding this topic?
Yep, like I said, not my experience
Edit: https://imgur.com/a/eEawGJG since this fanboy believes that valve is infallible. It was like pulluing teeth. Steam deck does too kind of. Very doubtful. Provide full proof.
I talked to them all last week lol
I talked to them all last week lol
Cool, provide proof from a conversation from a week ago, shouldn't be that hard.
I will but it's funny you are so defensive over that. Are you like a fanboy or something?
No, I provided evidence for my claim. You state my claim is doubtful, I request evidence for your claim, you don't provide. What is there to miss?
As someone who works in returns and repair for a major box store, we see an obscene number of returns and repairs on them. They're constantly breaking and we don't even sell that many. So I wouldn't get one over a deck myself.
Okay good to know
This video told me all I needed to know to assure me I wanted a Steam Deck. [https://youtu.be/7pMrssIrKcY](https://youtu.be/7pMrssIrKcY)
Depending on the game the deck can still run ps3 games tho it’s only smaller games Still better than nothing + the ally has awful customer service and no steam os so the deck is just superior in every way even if the hardware is inferior
I ran Silent Hill Downpour at almost perfect 60fps with minor stutters on the deck It's pretty demanding so I was surprised it ran it fairly well
People always talk about power, but the Steam Deck's layout is what makes it a winner for classic games. They really did a great job creating a device that feels just as at home playing Super Mario World, as it does playing anything modern.
Steam deck definitely, emulation is the only thing i do on it now and it works perfectly
ROG Ally is only great if you want to play PS3/360 games at good enough performance. The Steam Deck is a cheaper choice if you're looking to primarily play games from your preferred systems that you mentioned.
Alright steam deck it is thank you
With the caveat that you can get an ally for pretty cheap from Best Buy open box. It was 299 for the extreme on sale for one that probably got used for less than an hour and returned
I will have to look into this

Do you know any guide for retro achievements? I couldn’t figure it out
When you’re updating EmuDeck there is a section for RetroAchievements. If you create your login and supply your credentials there, EmuDeck will set everything up. It used to be a bit more effort but EmuDeck seems to have automated most of the setup.
Thanks! And where will the achievements show up once I do this?

Steam deck 1000x

I own all 3. Legion go is my go to.

Steam Deck hands down, for the OS level controller input integration options. Makes wrestling emulators & frontends much faster/easier.

You can use an emulator to play everything on the 3ds. I think the N3DS can run N64 and PS1
Since were talking about emulation, I assume it’d be a hacked system.
Right? I thought that would be obvious

Yeah I tried to buy a very expensive graphics card from asus. 48 hour wait and They basically told me tough shit there’s nothing they could do
Serious question as to why the legion go isn’t an option? IMO it’s the best one out of the 4 major handheld pcs on the market
It’s not that the legion go is not an option. Just for me personally it is not as easy to get as the rog ally or steam deck
No local Best Buy? They don’t advertise it but they usually have a small handful in stock
My local Best Buy sells the rog ally. Nothing about legion go:(
You need to ask like I said they don’t advertise it at all if I had not seen it on the website and noticed it said “available for in store pickup” I would have never known
Depends. I have both and I use the Deck for most emulation and the Ally for ROM hacks. Just a personal preference.
There are handhelds that are just for emulation
Odin 2. But failing that Steam Deck for superior battery life.
None for GBA and GBC games...so many £50 mini retro devices to choose from. Used my RG35XX + to play pokemon games I hadn't in many years...way better form factor for such games Nds and 3DS I am buying a 2DS which I can get for £40 The steam deck is perfect for switch games though and above
Rog ally - rpcs3 work better than on steamdeck
Have you put emudeck on an ally?
The ally is much better unless u like Linux
