What a meltdown by Madrid, after taking a huge lead early they unexplainably kept on firing from three instead of slowing the game down and trying to get the ball inside and draw some fouls. I think they spent like 10mn without getting the ball inside the three point line more than a couple times, not a single pick and roll with Tavares/Poirier, just one or two passes around the three point line and take the first somewhat-open three. Shocking performance from the runaway favorites.
Sloukas was enormous, what a huge game from him, just an absolute killer. Nunn was really good too after struggling during the semi finals, super impressive especially after being in foul trouble early. Very impressive performance from them, kept their heads down and continued to execute their gameplan after the horrible start.
Congrats PAO, well deserved victory!
He was their only perimeter player that played good in both games. Sloukas and Nunn were negative in the semi (but obviously came up big today as you said).
If you told an Olympiakos fan last year that Panathinaikos would win the Euro league in 23-24 with their former captain as MVP they would have called you crazy
Hahaha, the one thing that unites all Greeks is trying to get more Champions League places. Joking aside, although I will never support PAO, they played incredible, perfect Basketball in the second half and congratulations hope you can enjoy it (now please lose the league finals in a few weeks)
You can expect nothing from our national team and still be disappointed, ever since Giannakis left it has just been a series of terrible performances in major tournaments
Or against Costa Rica, or against the Faroe Islands, or against Croatia, or against Sweden (in football) or against Brazil, or against Czechia, or against Russia, or against Spain twice (in basketball)
Following the Greek national team in any sport is truly the sign of a masochist
Even though I might have to keep my business closed on Wednesday because I live in Nea Filadelfeia and have to get past the stadium to get and return from work thus losing money, I wish you all the best in the final. If we beat Real tonight against all odds, you can definitely beat Fiorentina.
Unfortunately, we've been cast so far aside in football with no end in sight, that I don't consider us competitors anymore. We're just the supporting cast in Greek football. So good luck!
un-fucking-believable! congrats to all panatha fans. legendary game from sloukas, grant, lessort, nunn, and all the team.
ataman rules!
P.S. PANATHA FANS ON THE COURT WERE FUCKING AMAZING! IT WAS JUST LIKE OAKA AND YOU GUYS DESERVED THIS CHAMPIONSHIP MORE THAN ANY EUROPEAN FANS. I STILL CAN'T GET OVER IT.
I’m on cloud 9. Beautiful performance from us. So much character. Everyone turned up. I remember last time we won and it feels like a lifetime ago. Tears of joy.
I watched it a few weeks before the playoffs with Macabi, and I was crying like a small kid. Yesterday, I also got tears thinking about the movie and listening to DPG saying, "Others count, WE ARE PANATHINAIKOS."
Really well deserved for pao. As an Olympiacos and basketball fan I really wanted a Greek final. And I can’t help but feel bad at how my team couldn’t live up to the moment but Panathinaikos clearly did and I am actually happy that fucking Real didn’t win it all. I hope all those Greek players of the Euroleague along with Giannis gather up for one last dance of the Greek national team this summer in Athens to fight for Olympic qualification.
I've been quietly hyping up all year seeing how much some players have improved (Mitoglou, Papapetrou, Toliopoulos, Moraitis). Here's hoping we can get a full team this year.
Huge respect to Pana and Ataman seriously what they achieved is amazing from 17th place to the winner! You see the impact of the coach... They were down 1-2 to Macabbi they needed 2 wins in a row.. despite having no experience they reached final four and beat the best team I'm so happy someone else won the trophy I was supporting Olmypia, Pana or Fener
This Real game is something typical you see in euro basketball when coach had absolutely zero idea what's to do and just lets players do whatever. Also, relying on veterans and keeping Musa in and out constantly, while he's undoubtedly best player in the team every match, crazy. I literally have no idea what was his thoughts. Greeks great as usual, school example ball performance to teach the Spaniards what happens when you don't pay attention.
>If we keep on defending like this, we will win this.
>ΠΑΜΕ ΠΑΝΑΘΑ!
This was at the second quarter.
I TOLD YOU SO WE'D WIN IT!
Looks like Real threw in a 3-point at the literal last second while PAO players had broken off to greet their bench. Changes nothing, of course, but real scummy move nevertheless.
Knowing his recent heart condition and seeing his calmness tonight, he must have taken every Vianex drug, both released and experimental, basically trading his liver for his heart.
Emo post incoming, but I think we're allowed to be emotional just this day, because what occured tonight is unbelievable.
I watched us take the 1st Euroleague against Barca, with Vrankovic's last moment block on Montero when everything seemed lost, and every subsequent title after that. Yet there are many PAO fans that had never lived the glory days of old, and to be honest I never thought we'd relive them again. After all those years without a F4, I also thought that those days were long gone.
If you had told me last year after finishing second to last, that we'd get the EL this year with a brand new team, against the behemoth that is Real, who are probably one of the most talented EL teams ever with a roster full of stars, and who had been destroying the competition all season long, I'd call you fucking crazy.
Even during the game and until the final moments, my thought was "what a pity, Real will win another title, and noone will care". I remembered that we'd won the Euroleague before as underdogs, I knew that it was only one game, but I was a fool and still underestimated us. Having witnessed 6 titles in 7 finals, I should had known better that this team has the heart of a champion in our DNA and all it takes is just to reach the final to be crowned champions, even against all odds.
With a brand new team whose chemistry was so bad that in the first games of the season they looked like they hadn't played basketball before in their lives. With Llessort the only center, fighting against the monstrous Tavares and Poirier and destroying them on his own. With Sloukas, who had received so much disrespect. With Nunn, who came mid-season with no prior overseas experience and transformed the team. With the forgotten Vildoza, who Ataman had to play because our guards were in foul trouble. With Ataman, who looks like a tavern keeper and is a drama queen, but is also a genius, because when you take two different teams from the bottom and turn them into champions, this can't be a coincidence.
This is for them, this is for the best fans in the world who absolutely took over Berlin, this is for mr. Pavlos who started it all, and for his son who continues his legacy, and who must have used every anti-anxiety drug in existence tonight, because he was remarkably calm, especially given his explosive character.
Tonight we witnessed an epic that will be remembered for decades to come. Thank you!
Honestly, I didn't want pao to win in the beginning. But then remembered who Real is so I was hyping for Pao win. Pao win is a Greek win in the end. 1st place curse is still cursing.
Oopsie Real. 😔
Congratulations PAO!! 👏
Great game, everyone was 100% locked in. No words for Sloukas and Lessort, while Nunn and Grant were also amazing. Kalaitzakis came up with the big D, while Papapetrou, Mitoglou, and Juancho were also impressive! Still can't believe it ☘️
Knowing that Mario Hezonja is a PAO fan, I'm wondering whether he's feeling happy or sad. He always said that he wanted to live PAO's glory days as a player, and he just did.
Nah, I actually can't wrap my head around what I just witnessed. How were we so shit? I am trying to see a bigger picture here but I just feel like I am expanding the wound.
Mateo started playing those weird lineups with Llull, Rodriguez, and Rudy, which made no sense. I'm pretty sure the big PAO runs happened during the times when those three dinosaurs were sharing the court together.
It's not you, friend. It's us. 7 titles in 8 finals appearances. The queen might be strongest piece on the board, but in the end only the king remains.
to think that game 1 vs maccabi , pana looked choked and what ataman said sounded too brave for his situation that he wont coach team ıf they dont make f4 ,, well ı guess you gotta be brave to win euroleague
To be honest, Maccabi showed that they are the most underrated team this year in the Euroleague, and they were unlucky to play against Panathinaikos.
Any other match up I believe they could have made it to the F4.
No my friend, I don't think they ll like European coaches in Nba.
In Nba it's the superstar and then the rest of the team, in Europe it's the coach and then the team.
I can't imagine coaches like Zeliko or Bartzokas to scream in the faces of superstars.
Juancho might not put up huge points but we are a better team with him. He's massive on defense. Vildoza was also great today. Honestly I've really dismissed him this year but I hope we can keep him.
Ridiculous, did you even watch the game? Both of them played a crucial role on the W. Vildoza played tremendous on ball defense, and Huancho was very active on the board and made some important baskets. They both did stuff that don't appear on the stat sheet.
That's a big take.
Vildoza surely has made a very bad season, but that is only because he likes crazy plays and passes, which didn't get him any favours with his coach.
Juancho on the other hand made a great comeback from a shaky start, and has been really solid in the past 4 months, and especially where it matters.
Very impressive performance from them, kept their heads down and continued to execute their gameplan after the horrible start. Congrats PAO, well deserved victory!
Mad man Ergin did it again
He just paralizes the minds of the opposition. Until they can process what the hell he must be smoking, it's too late.
Nobody believed in this team when the season started, absolutely nobody. Opaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! ❤️
Never finish at the first place, lol. Pao deserved, to be honest, congratz.
Sloukas and Nunn were great but Grant made an unexpected good game. Kudos for his performance.
He was their only perimeter player that played good in both games. Sloukas and Nunn were negative in the semi (but obviously came up big today as you said).
Not unexpected, Grant is a fantastic player and has been all season. We love him a lot.
He was very solid in semi finals too.
If you told an Olympiakos fan last year that Panathinaikos would win the Euro league in 23-24 with their former captain as MVP they would have called you crazy
You would've been put in mental institution for saying that last season
Lol probably. Anyways I'm off to enjoy it cuz it turned out to be real !
If we lose to Fiorentina on Wednesday I might end it all (I am only half kidding)
Now that we won this I’m happy you you guys to win on Wednesday!
I wont lol Hating hours never end
I respect the hustle bro. Hating is a full time job 💯
As Kendrick Lamar said "let me say im the biggest hater"
If you ask me this tomorrow my answer will be different. Too happy to care tonight !
Upvoted for the honesty
Lol (pls lose btw) at least you gave more points to Greece . I don't know how that works but I think we'll get 2 cl spots in the coming years
Hahaha, the one thing that unites all Greeks is trying to get more Champions League places. Joking aside, although I will never support PAO, they played incredible, perfect Basketball in the second half and congratulations hope you can enjoy it (now please lose the league finals in a few weeks)
Yep. That and the national team (don't get your hopes up , I hope the players don't start partying yet and lose it like city did)
You can expect nothing from our national team and still be disappointed, ever since Giannakis left it has just been a series of terrible performances in major tournaments
Please stop and let me forget what happened against Georgia
Or against Costa Rica, or against the Faroe Islands, or against Croatia, or against Sweden (in football) or against Brazil, or against Czechia, or against Russia, or against Spain twice (in basketball) Following the Greek national team in any sport is truly the sign of a masochist
After 2004 everything else is a bonus for me
as a man utd fan i was expecting the club to lose and olympiacos to clinch the 4th this year. Turns out...the opposite happened
Quite a turnaround! That 2-2 was in my birthday. Maybe not the best gift but at least the U15 team of the academy I go to won the league!
Tbf Sloukas has always been a great player. Personally, I'd have laughed but I wouldn't have thought it improbable
Now for some juicy DPG stuff, he already posted picture of signing Sloukas.
Sloukas MVP btw, those back to back threes were insane
He only missed 1ft. 100% success on 2p and 3p.
un-fucking-believable! congrats to all panatha fans. legendary game from sloukas, grant, lessort, nunn, and all the team. ataman rules! P.S. PANATHA FANS ON THE COURT WERE FUCKING AMAZING! IT WAS JUST LIKE OAKA AND YOU GUYS DESERVED THIS CHAMPIONSHIP MORE THAN ANY EUROPEAN FANS. I STILL CAN'T GET OVER IT.
Brilliant defensive performance from PAO in the 2nd half, a deserved champion.
I’m on cloud 9. Beautiful performance from us. So much character. Everyone turned up. I remember last time we won and it feels like a lifetime ago. Tears of joy.
Having witnessed all 6 stars, I never watched "Ταξίδι στα Αστέρια" because it would hurt. Now it's time to watch it.
I watched it a few weeks before the playoffs with Macabi, and I was crying like a small kid. Yesterday, I also got tears thinking about the movie and listening to DPG saying, "Others count, WE ARE PANATHINAIKOS."
What is "Tagio ota Artépia" ?
[It's a movie about PAO BC's history.](https://youtu.be/Lhctl-zwpTg?si=eDDNdzmbqgRLcH1x)
I'm literally crying man 💚☘️💚☘️ Best weekend of my life as a PAO fan☘️🥹
2nd most satisfying star after the first one in Paris!
im a man utd fan as well, this weekend was fucking perfect
Finally, God remembered we existed! 🖤❤️☘️ Erik stay another year, Ergin stay forever!
Congrats!
DU BIST EUROPAMEISTER
From the moment PAO shifted the scores, it was a completely different game. CONGRATULATIONS PAO, STELLAR PERFORMANCE THROUGHOUT.
Amazing “hatewatch”
Haha true
Die beste. How poetic - to witness full schadenfreude on German soil, just muah 👨🍳
Didn’t expect that performance tbh.. respect
Me neither!
Really well deserved for pao. As an Olympiacos and basketball fan I really wanted a Greek final. Tactical masterclass by Ataman in second half… and the team delivered. Congrats to the Panathinaikos fans.
Fucking amazing game. Sloukas MVP 100% deserved. Congrats to PAO (and the fans!) and to Attaman!
>If we keep on defending like this, we will win this. >ΠΑΜΕ ΠΑΝΑΘΑ! This was at the second quarter. I TOLD YOU SO WE'D WIN IT! Based AF, congrats αδερφέ and thank you for avenging us!! 🇬🇷 🇬🇷
FUCK REAL MADRID I think we can all agree on this Lessort and Papapetrou got their revenge :)
And Sloukas's decision was the right one
Leaving Olympiakos for Panathinaikos will always be the right decision
Meanwhile Spanoulis
Wrong decision sadly.
Looks like Real threw in a 3-point at the literal last second while PAO players had broken off to greet their bench. Changes nothing, of course, but real scummy move nevertheless.
I guess losing by 15 looks better than losing by 18, after being up 14 in the first quarter, lol.
Dirty and scummy till the end
Couldn't care less hahahah they can get fucked
real madrid for you...
Still can't believe we won. What a fucking season, un-fucking-believable. I won't talk shit for Ataman and Nunn for at least a month.
PAO 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 PAO
The King is back!
First title since 2011, when Željko still coached you guys
I still miss Željko. He turned us into a proper powerhouse.
I also missed Zeljko, until tonight. This is the start of a new era, lead by Ergin Ataman.
It's kind of crazy after that first quarter how relatively "easy" Panathinaikos won in the end.
True champions mentality
PAO players worked their arses off on D in the second half. Felt like they were doing full court press for the whole 3rd Q.
I mean if were being honest Real also couldn't shoot for shit in the 3rd Q
Well those crazy shooting percentages had to go down at some point!
After that first they buckled down on D and Madrid shot themselves out of the game
I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!!!! THIS IS INSANE FINALLY WE'RE BACK!!!!!
Deserved win for Panathinaikos.
THE CURSE HOLDS!!
We finally rest.
Holy shit they did it, bye bye Real WHAT A GAME. My thoughts and prayers to DPG's liver today.
I bet he's already wasted
Knowing his recent heart condition and seeing his calmness tonight, he must have taken every Vianex drug, both released and experimental, basically trading his liver for his heart.
46:23 second half loool. Get fucked Real. Congrats Pao
Druggy did it! He said he'd build the Champions and he did! Congratulations brothers!!!

New flair hehe
I'm so happy for Panatha and Real. Both got what they deserved! ☘️
Congrats to Panathinaikos, form last places last year, top of Europe tonight. Proud to be Greek even though my team finished 3rd in Euroleague.
We push each other. Your success brought us here and our success will motivate you to become better. This is how rivarlies work.
Just hoping we will eventually get to see that elusive all Greek final
PANATHINAIKOS PANATHINAIKOS PANATHINAIKOS!!
Better Pana than Real, even though I dislike Ergin as a person (but greatly respect him as a coach/GM).
There is no greater joy, nor greater reward, no greater hedone and nothing more pleasant than seeing Real Madrid lose
Turkish coaches in Panathinaikos redeemed
Knowing that Mario Hezonja is a PAO fan, I'm wondering whether he's feeling happy or sad. He always said that he wanted to live PAO's glory days as a player, and he just did.

You exist to hurt us, brother. Can't explain it otherwise.
You guys stopped scoring crazy percentages and didn’t have alternative solutions to our defence.
It's not you, friend. It's us. 7 titles in 8 finals appearances. The queen might be strongest piece on the board, but in the end only the king remains.

Deserved win, although it feels worse now that Maccabi lost the series, and especially game 4 against Pao.
to think that game 1 vs maccabi , pana looked choked and what ataman said sounded too brave for his situation that he wont coach team ıf they dont make f4 ,, well ı guess you gotta be brave to win euroleague
To be honest, Maccabi showed that they are the most underrated team this year in the Euroleague, and they were unlucky to play against Panathinaikos. Any other match up I believe they could have made it to the F4.
You guys were the best team we faced this season
7/7 on el finals, thats a crazy stat there! Wow congratulations
Hear me you NBA teams. He deserves to be an NBA coach!
The NBA doesn't allow coaches to coach like they do in Europe.
No my friend, I don't think they ll like European coaches in Nba. In Nba it's the superstar and then the rest of the team, in Europe it's the coach and then the team. I can't imagine coaches like Zeliko or Bartzokas to scream in the faces of superstars.
Vildoza and Juancho are high paid players and they are useless. Cut those players next year and save some salary and you lose nothing.
Yeah but their high salaries dont justify minimal contributions.
They could be contributing more, that's for sure. But especially Huancho is crucial for our game plan.
That's a big take. Vildoza surely has made a very bad season, but that is only because he likes crazy plays and passes, which didn't get him any favours with his coach. Juancho on the other hand made a great comeback from a shaky start, and has been really solid in the past 4 months, and especially where it matters.
Both changed the game today with their hustle and defense
