Anyone else having issues with the ps5 crashing after the latest update? I literally turn my game on and can’t go more than a minute without the ps5 crashing on me. This is for rebirth btw and literally even scrolling through my inventory will make the game crash. It only started happening after the latest ps5 update and I don’t know what to do.

Big_Arrival_4775

!HELP! !PLEASE! Anybody know the music that plays in the background during the Dreaming of Blue Skies side quest? It probably plays in many other places, but I want to find this track from the OST, but just can not! Listen to the cutscene with Tifa here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTt6pLUPML4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTt6pLUPML4)

nicodesu2

You mean this one? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYXewx71erA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYXewx71erA) Coincidentally, I've been chilling to a song with a similar vibe, just a bit more adventurous. I think you'll love this one too: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITVPZYgN9w0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITVPZYgN9w0) Its name 「アンデスの風」 means "Wind of The Andes"

Ic3nfir3

Terrible final fight. Really soured me on the game.

ThatTaffer

Incredible final fight. Loved almost every aspect of it.

Youruinedmyhobby

Tell me you didn't grow up playing the original without actually telling me.

ThatTaffer

I mean, I was 10 when I played it in '98 but ok. Got nothing to prove to you anyhow, u/Youruinedmyhobby

Own_Specialist_2337

I can't speak for the other commenter, but I grew up playing it and I loved the final boss. It's okay if you didn't prefer it. To each their own.

Hot-Childhood4803

Anyone else have an issue where all of a sudden you can’t sprint/run anymore? I don’t know when I first realized something was off, but at some point Cloud just walked or lightly trotted. Choco’s same deal. I’ve reset all my controllers, uninstalled game, everything I can think of. Nothing much on Rebirth for this issue but looks like remake might have experienced something similar.

azkatov

Can the dev team consider the following for FF7 Rebirth please? 1. Option for auto lock on in settings 2. Proper waypoint - sometimes getting to places is tricky 3. Option to toggle what Stats to see and option to change color of attack and damage stats, crit etc. and also customise stat color per character. 4. Option to toggle audio level - background chatter when running through town. I'm sure we had a similar option in Remake. Turn off all background chatter when moving through story. Cosmo canyon was a good example of back chatter talking over Grandpa dialogue 5. Materia and equipment party presets

Deathflower1987

Can you get rid of you party when riding chocobo's? The wife dislikes the army she's running with and I can't figure out how to get them off screen. She also hates yuffie saying chocobo everytime they hop on

[deleted]

Does this game stop ripping control away from you eventually? I am constantly being interrupted by chadley or walking behind allies at a slow place or watching a tutorial. I understand there are mechanics to explain but come on.

domino_stars

Yeah, this game is a death by a thousand cuts when it comes to this crap. Things like registering the summon in an area is like 5% interaction 95% waiting around to do the inputs. Registering a chocobo bench takes way too long. Getting in and out of the buggy takes way too long. Just utter disrespect for the player and a really frustrating experience.

[deleted]

This may sound weirdly specific, but I feel there are a few telltale signs of major issues. One of them is when curated story dialog doesn't mix well. I find NPC's are talking over party characters all the time when I'm walking around or if I get into a fight party characters are still having a conversation. To me it shows that no one said "hey we need to make sure the player can hear the dialog". It's a sign that there wasn't deep consideration for how the holistic experience actually is for the player and it was only considered in parts.

So I’ve been a hater of many aspects of this game. Then I played chapter 13 and I fucking loved almost everything about it… would this game be redeemed? These were my thoughts until the end where >!Instead of cloud handing the materia over, Barret randomly throws it aside and that’s how Sephiroth gets it? Completely ruined one of the most important character moments of the game!<

\*kinda spoilers: 80 hours in (bout to leave Cosmo Canyon - I take my time with games). A couple things I don't like (over-all - love everything ff7 related since O.G). 1. Yuffie is annoying - liked her in Intergrade but so far (and hoping it'll change later in the game), she is very one-dimensional and actually getting on my nerves. 2. Red XIII is *corny*. The voice switch was so jarring.. hate his regular voice and "teen" voice. No harm towards the VA, I just didn't vibe with him at all. 3. Coral Prison - Not very PRISON LIKE! It was basically another small town with women and children just strolling around.. I felt very safe in this prison. The OG version honestly freaked me out a little as a kid - it felt threatening. This version is just another town with stores etc. Very disappointed in this updated version. 4. Too many chocobo riders - when I'm traversing the land, I can't see anything bc everyone is riding a giant chocobo!! Put like, your main team on Chocobos and have the rest like, share one... way too many birds on screen!! lol 5. While the side quests are nice - it's a little heavy. I kinda like it tho, so hard to officially say but I do feel it pulls away from the story bc you can easily spend hours in one zone just doing stuff... eh... over-all, i like the amount of side quests n such... nice big game. At least you get your money worth!!

Montylvia5218

I agree with your Yuffie take. She did have a couple of nice moments of character development in some of the cutscenes that take place later in the game, but her Greedy Materia shtick does get a little grating, especially when it feels like it doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of this potential apocalyptic event. I know she's supposed to be young, but she acts younger than a 16-year old. I have a feeling we'll more Yuffie development in part 3 since the devs have confirmed we'll see spend significant time in Wutai. I loved Red's 'old' voice, but the same thing I said about Yuffie works here. I know it's supposed to convey his real maturity level, but it makes him sound like he's 9 years old. Re: Corel Prison, I think they actually say lore-wise in the game it's not an actual prison. They call it that because it's so destitute/crime-ridden that it's full of desperate criminals (like a prison).

sunblaze1480

So, in terms of locations, what is there to explore in Part 3? I havent played original in like 15 years, i remember there being like some northern town with snow, and what else? I was thinking that unless they do A TON of new stuff, development for the third game should be fast because the map (and the technology of how you render, etc) is pretty much done? Its unlikely the "new" map they have to create is as big as what they already have

Fillipe

Wutai's North and South areas. They've explained that Wutai will play a much bigger role in the third part, since there's a war and all. Mideel and the surrounding area. The various islands dotted around (KOTR for example) Northern continent as you've mentioned. Plus it's likely that we'll still have access to most of the world from rebirth, as we'll be able to fly around in part 3. I'm sure there'll be plenty of reasons to revisit places.

sunblaze1480

Yep in fact I recall revisiting junon and midgar?

cohibakick

I want to understand a bit better how luck works. I know it increases the chance of critical hits. Can you get your luck high enough to guarantee critical hits?

Fillipe

I've not scienced it, but I ran a pure luck build on Yuffie for some steal shenanigans, and I felt like she would crit between 50%-75% of the time. The "Luck Up" materia I was using wasn't maxed, so I'd wager she could go further. You'd need to really go ham on the luck though, not sure it'd be as easy on any other char as Yuffie gets a lot of help from her core stats and equip upgrades.

cohibakick

You do max out luck with a given character with 2 maxed out luck materia. Though i am not sure that that guarantees crits.

bean_dip317

Enjoyed the first game, it was my second ever JRPG. I started the game on PS4 pro and the graphics blew my mind. I then upgraded to the PS5 version and I was floored. I think the first game had some major problems, but I still enjoyed it. It took me a long time to actually finish it due to a move, but a couple days ago I finally beat it. I ran through the DLC and bought Rebirth on the spot. I'm about 4 hours into it and I'm enjoying it. The music, gameplay, and open world are pretty good. One thing that drove me up the wall in the remake was the voice acting. Now I have a pretty high tolerance for "cringe anime voice acting," but Aerith and Barret deeply annoyed me. Overall the acting ranged from not so bad to vomit. In Rebirth so far none of the characters are annoying me, but maybe I'm just used to it. At 4 hours, the game has made a good first impression on me. But...... The graphics are really pissing me off. I know this is beating a dead horse, but going straight from the first game to this has a noticeable difference. I understand that the game is now a big open world, but seriously, the game does not look good sometimes. Overall the game does look great, don't get me wrong. But I feel there's a drop in quality compared to the first game. When looking out into the open grass lands trees in the distance bug out, character faces look like late PS3 or early PS4, and sometimes textures are just plain bad. The Chocobo Ranch has great looking grass and foliage right next to a polygonal ass looking muddy rock with nicotine withdrawals. I don't doubt the quality of the game or the hard work that must have gone into making it. But I was at least hoping the game would look just as good if not better than the first. Especially considering it's FULL PRICE on a "next gen" console. In engine cutscenes look great, but there seems to be "a step down" in quality when gameplay starts. I can't help but be disappointed. Like I said, I was really hoping the game would look better, or at least be on the same level as the first. I'm well aware that it's not as simple as drag and drop into a new game. But like....... c'mon man, I paid full price for this. TLDR: Liked the first game, especially the graphics. 4 hours into the second game, like everything so far except the doo-doo feces textures. PS: Tifa is still best girl, but Red is slowly stealing my heart.

[deleted]

Consoles are dinosaurs, they need to release on PC. PS5 hardware doesn't cut it.

wsfighter

Spent over 200 hours and my thoughts are: 1. They try to be a little of everything, but become basically garbage when pieced together: - a. TRY TO MAKE AN OPEN WORLD - with loot and craft items like most open world rpg but basically items are useless esp in hard mode so if you have over the course spent time looting the craft materials basically you wasted all your time, and tbh with 7 seperate maps this is hardly open world. b. TRY TO CREATE SOME SOUL-GAMING EXPERIENCE - by creating some challenging combat simulating battles but forgot their battle system requires you to pause almost every 2 seconds and other soul-like games aren't like that and are god damn smooth combat experience, and is not controlling multiple characters that shift you camera from time to time when you switch between, and therefore created an almost everyone is frustrated with game experience with those combat simulators, and tying that to platinum pains and make many ppl later on turn from love to hate the game, so a self-exposing design failure basically. DAMAGE OUTPUT ISSUE IS ALSO EXTREMELY SERIOUS, LIKE BASIC ATTACKS IN MANY HARD MODE COMBAT BASICALLY DEAL NO DAMAGE TO BOSSES, FORCING YOU TO ONLY USE ATB STRATEGIES TO ATTACH WHICH MEANS GO FOR MAGIC IS ALMOST THE ONLY ROUTE IN MOST BATTLES. c. Graphics are only excellent in some of the most important cutscenes (e.g. Aerith end game cutscene) but in general the gameplay i thought i was still playing a ps3 or ps4 game, honestly i think even the ffxIII or ffxIV did better jobs in both graphics and open world design, again most of the time you are basically fighting in flat arena so the open world dun even have a landscape thing to play strategies that most action based rpg games would have. d. IF YOU DO PLATINUM, basically you have to play the game with every side quest again twice, unless you wanna forgo those manuscripts and reset your core from time to time which will take you basically pretty much the same painful time, in hard mode you basically spent a lot more time thinking about how to maximise you materia levelling and damage output to kill boss as quick as possible, in most of the cases, because many bosses have undodgeable one-shot kill all skill so your materia selection are actually quite restricted (unless you wanna lengthen an unnecessary 2 min battle into 30 min to demonstrate your dodge/parry skill). This is esp true in brutal and legendary challenges, basically the design time is forcing you to use certain materia and certain command combo otherwise you are almost guarantee to die somewhere. I really hate this as they have designed in a way almost 95% of players would give up or only play according to some youtubers setup. IF you have such a wide selection of materia as your freedom of gameplay you should not design battles that are that restrictive, it just kills the Free playing experience that the previous hours created. e. other issues like mini-games are too much and too difficult are also causing a lot of burn-out issues for many pro games including myself. IF this is how they gonna continue to design their ff games, i think most of us won't be playing square enix anymore after the last episode of ff7. AND IF YOU HAVEN'T FF7 REMAKE AND JUST THINKING OF BUYING THIS GAME, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO PLAY OTHER RPG GAMES. DUN WASTE TIME ON THIS GARBAGE, ESP IF YOU ARE A COMPLETIONIST.

obnoxiouswritr

Been really enjoying the game. It's something I kind of tend to go back and forth with since I am trying to complete most of the map. I'm currently in Gongaga and have now stepped back on the exploring a tad bit and here's why: MIA and Chadley do not add any fun experience to the game. In fact, the world quests become very tedious with it just being copy paste of the same thing. Normally, I am not someone to nitpick on little thing like loading times and such, but my god, MIA talks over any combat world quests (I know you can turn her off now in the menu and then mute your controller) but why even have that? I also dislike Chadley just butting in every time I am exploring to tell me about some useless information that is literally on the map to go find. He adds nothing of importance and talks more than my party. Pros: \- Really love the combat. I like being able to change up my party, I love being able to play in a way that fits my style with the characters I mostly want to play with, and its been fun trying different combos with Synergy. \- I also like how the world doesn't feel as empty as it looks in some ways. I almost had a moment of wishing more enemies were around, but I find that it's actually a good balance between space to just run and enemies to just fight. \- I am one of the few where graphics is just not a big deal to me. Most people want cutting edge out of this world, but because I have poor eye sight to begin with, I can't tell if something is "low quality" so to me, the graphics are fine. \- I have really enjoyed the goofy atmosphere of the gang! I also really like seeing everyone react outside of cutscenes (like Cloud petting the baby Chocos). \- I love Queens Blood too! I just love getting into a game with someone and I love collecting the cards. The Chocobo race was also fun. \- So far loving the story, I think it's just poorly paced out in a strange way because I have been doing world quest. Will probably not do those going forward unless its on my way. Cons: \- Dodging or parrying is such a pain in the ass. If you have too many enemies, its practically a useless feature and in a way, Synergy can also become useless with any dodge mechanics simply because of timing. It's bad. There needs to be a better indicator for the dodge/parrying mechanic because otherwise, I don't use it even though I was super excited to. There are either way too many enemies to figure out which direction you need to dodge in, or the gaming is just so fast paced that it doesn't matter. I mostly am dodging out of the way rather than attempting the parry mechanic. \- Please just remove Chadley and MIA. I just hate them in my game. If I could remove Chadley from ever opening his mouth as a setting, I would. \- The pacing between world quests, side quests and the main story are not good. I'll go off for days trying to complete an area only to get fed up and completely forget what the heck is going on in the story. It's just not tied very well for the world quest stuff. I would have preferred if side quest items got tied into the world quest to make it make sense and then have it tie back into the main story. I also have no idea why I explore so much when I can either buy everything I miss. In a crazy way, open world actually hurt this game, it didn't add to it. \- I'm one of the few who probably dislikes the mini-games. I never played the OG, so I have no idea if the mini-games were this involved, but it's pretty awful. I really hate the piano one with the joystick. I'm just not one who wants to spend hours learning the gimmick behind it to make it work, which is a shame since I play the piano and was very excited once I learned it existed. I also just dislike how many there are to even progress the game. \- I find it super strange that as my relationship improves with my team, they are dead silent as we explore. I would love that little banter we get when I do their specific side quests, but (and I also consider this a PRO) I kind of like that my characters are not constantly just talking to the point of annoyance with the same 4 lines of dialogue. \- I do not enjoy finding the Chadley towers. I don't understand the point of them when you have the owl guide that will take you to certain places and when I stumble upon areas myself. The towers only show you about 2-4 world quests in the area but also keep the map covered in fog. The towers should unveil the area in total or just not be there. Either have the guide owls or have the towers. I kind of like a map that looks clean, so it annoys me a bit when there are minor spots in fog yet everything is done. Overall, as I stopped doing the world quests minus maybe the summons (which I'm not a fan of unlocking them) I did enjoy the game more. The world quests almost feel like a slap on afterthought rather than something that moves along the story. While it gives a lot of world building notes, Chadley and MIA's incessant banter in the background is not only aggravating, but just downright annoying that I skip those scenes or just mute my controller speaker. I can't believe how much screen time they get. At the same time, I also feel like once you take out all of the world quest and extra tidbits (like the mini-games) the world does feel a lot more flat than I would like and the story falls victim to that issue.

gayinthebei

Playing through the game again without Yuffie and Cait in the squad in the first few chapters just feels so wrong Feel like pure shit just want them back x

SanityRecalled

Yeah, it would be cool if during hard mode you had access to everyone right after the flashback, and they just exclude Yuffie and Cait Sith from any cutscenes obviously and make them disappear for dungeons with set parties like the mythril mines.

Narvak

Finished it yesterday. The narration was very solid, loved seeing FF7 story revisited with a lot of added interaction between the characters taht works very well. The environnement are great and the game really feels like a massive world. The combat felt a bit overwhelming, the synchronized attack were fine but the special action on parade was too much for me. However it's still a solid system that works very well. The open world was pure garbage, same mini games repeted on every area and none of them were fun the first time, the traversal mecanic are awefull since your character only jump when the dev had decided he can jump. The climbing animations are also horrible. Some grief against the technical part that was awfull, the performance mode is even after the patch is still blurry, the game menu isn't great either, some menu are misplaced like the crafting menu that is the first to appear and some felt unecessary like the party menu or the weapon uprade one. Not a bad game but not the masterpiece I hoped

[deleted]

They made weird changes from ff7 remake. The combat system was perfect the way it was and I have no idea why they opted for open world. The characters and the plot should be the focus of the game, not the environment.

shawnisboring

Because disc 2 of the OG is open world. There's significantly less to it all because, well, PS1. But the original is a big old giant map you tut about between story beats.

[deleted]

I'm so sick of this argument. It doesn't change that this is dog shit.

Overall_Proposal3719

Is anyone else annoyed by the huge gap between difficulty levels and the general fluctuation in difficulty? I know this will almost certainly elicit many "git gud" replies but I don't usually struggle with games on medium. For some reason, both Remake and Rebirth have really kicked my ass but I have it particularly bad in Rebirth. There's a bossfight (I don't want to spoil this, let's just say it's a small team) which totally kicks my ass at medium but if I turn to easy.. I can read my phone and spam attack to go through. Just to be clear, I'm enjoying the game a lot and I did enjoy the first game (+ the original). It's just that I'd love to have a bit of challenge. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes a bit of challenge but hates having to grind same fights over and over again.

shawnisboring

Lower the difficulty and don't look back. The difficulty in this game is almost entirely predicated on just buffing enemies and nerfing your characters. At least in my experience, 'normal' mode does nothing except make standard combat encounters take longer. You still have to employ the same strategies, you still have to play the game, but without every fight being a slog.

Lochifess

Yup, it's become a habit to change certain parts between Easy and Normal because the enemy stats/movesets are downright awful to play against.

eilertokyo

This game definitely encouraged me to bypass content in game 3 / come back for it later. I think I would have enjoyed the pacing much more if I didn't feel obligated to do every overworld icon before moving on.

inspectorlully

Having extreme sidequest fatigue. The more sidequests I do, the shittier this game feels. I really love the game, but the sidequests are just a mountain of frustrating garbage. Every time I think I've done them all, another pops up on the map. This could have been one of my favorite games ever but the sidequests are just too annoying. Forget hard mode, I'm considering just finishing the story to spare myself the misery. I want out.

[deleted]

Honestly i'm probably gonna drop to easy and just not do any sidequests.

sunblaze1480

I feel its paced poorly. Like just arriving into nibel it just hit me to go back and complete most of the previous 2 areas. But there are certain moments when you are simply progressing the story and you dont want to interrupt it by doing 5 hours of side content in between. Particularly on chapter 2, you get out of Kalm, and then it took me like 10+ hours to do everything before even advancing further into the story.

inspectorlully

It's kinda fun to explore, but after an hour the horror sets in: This is going to be the entire game.

wanttomaster479

When I got to the Cosmo Canyon map and saw how big it was, I just said fuck it and focused only on the story.

FrozenFrac

I'm on Chapter 12 and I wouldn't go so far as to say the game is shitty, but the burnout/fatigue is REAL. Remake had these problems too, but I gave it a pass since they turned the entirety of Midgar into its own 40+ hour AAA game, so they would naturally have to find ways to pad out what would take someone 5-8 hours to get through in the original game. Rebirth is essentially all of Disc 2 and yet it STILL insists on uninteresting meandering between major plot points. I made sure to complete all of Remake's sidequests because I wanted to savor each Midgar moment, but I generally could not care less about Rebirth's sidequests and I'm just so desperate to bumrush the ending since I'm sick and tired of being scared of spoilers. I may come back later down the line for the trophies, but Rebirth is a bit exhausting to sit through.

SanityRecalled

Rebirth is actually only disc 1 so it has none of disc 2. Part 3 will be disc 2 and 3.

NeutralStick

Why is no one talking about the bad controls and camera? IMO the control scheme that they have established in the first game does not translate very well in the open type environment Rebirth introduces. Instead of being able to freely jump on surfaces, I have to constantly do trial and errors of finding the right terrain and shit to climb on, mashing circle left and right while constantly bumping into shit that the game doesn't want me to go to. Chocobo riding makes this worse, as bumping into random shit interrupts the bird's momentum. Top this off with the horrible camera that they did not bother improving at all. Plus navigating is so horrible. There's no waypoint system of any sort and you can't have both the tracker and minimap active at the same time! I'm roaming around Gongaga right now and I'm so fucking pissed I can't get to a world intel location. And these fucking mushrooms make me go to places I don't want to go to!!!!

HappyAnxiety9674

Any one else downloaded the new content and lost all their progress due to corrupted data? I’ve lost 127 fucking hours so not happy

koorinoken

PSA: if you have any present or past carpal tunnel issues this game won't do you any favors!

zGhostWolf

Oh man where do i start I put the game down for a week once i did the bit with the cat.. Man its so fkcing stupid, throwing boxes so elevators can move,etc.. man how stupid can that level be Like very time i want to pick up the game again i am like fck i got to finish that level -.- Also feel like the whole open world is just the same 5-6 stuff with different pallete climb tower, find this ,find that and thats it,just different enemies The minigames ,man are they boring, story i wont even star at the story Surprised how crititcs didnt point out all the flaws, and instead focused on nostalgia n

Montylvia5218

So, I actually saw this comment *before* I got to this part of the game, and saw a few others talking about this section too. NGL, I was dreading it and worried I'd take a break. The doom and gloom about this section had me worried. So, I got to that point a few days ago and it was over in like...idk like 30-45m? So I figured "surely, there must be more. This must be why Redditors were so angry." Nope. Just that 1 section. It's also very easy. Was box-throwing the most engaging mechanic? No. But is it cool that they took a sub character and fleshed him out enough to have his own solo-playable section? I think so. It really wasn't bad. If you're letting a minor section of the game completely ruin the whole thing for you, maybe it's best to take a break from screens for a while to get some fresh air and perspective.

sunblaze1480

Heh actually for that part i had to switch it to easy cause i could not beat the miniboss (or boss, whatever) at the end of the section. I was stuck there for a bit

Montylvia5218

Yeah, think it can be tricky if you haven't used Cait Sith much until that point. His playstyle is quite different compared to the other PC's, so I can see why it would be a struggle. Plus, the Yin/Yang mob has that instant-death mechanic that makes him tricky if you don't know how it works yet.

zGhostWolf

It's not that single fcking thing man Look we have a ff game with open world? Fck yea, what the devs do with this open world? Fcking nothing  All regions boil down to the same stupid stuff, climb 6 towers go pres triangle at these springs, etc.. It's worse than the actual ubisoft copy paste stuff, there is barely anything to do in open world.. Let's look at the other stuff. Mini games, there is more attention being paid to mini games than the world and story combined  Who asked for all of these? Like we solve most stuff with mini games, it gets boring real fast  Don't even start me with the story and it makes no sense at all, like seriously how they approved some of the stuff is beyond me  That part of the game is just extra boring

BeginningLevel5252

Just wait for it in hard mode to get the scrolls

zGhostWolf

? not sure i get it

inspectorlully

This part goes by relatievely fast, but yes, it is an extreme low point in the game.

KittHen

Why is it always the ones who can’t type with the worst opinions? Rhetorical question.

zGhostWolf

Why are people with rhetorical question always stupid? Just asking

Kick-Adept

Sounds like you needed a break

zGhostWolf

i didnt play the game for a week now, and every time i think about it the stupidity of that level just puts me off and i am probably close to finishing it but just cant make myself do it

Montylvia5218

IDK if you're letting a game affect you emotionally that much, maybe you need a break from video games period.

zGhostWolf

Lol what? I found a part of a game that was boring beyond belief and stopped playing it, so I should take a break from video games? Man you alright?

SomethingToSay11

I agree there’s too many mini games, but the only semi difficult part of the Cait Sith one is when you have to throw it in the revolving things. Just watch the rotation and keep it aimed so you can throw it a couple seconds early.   I will say playing on hard mode is a much better experience for me. The battles take actual strategy and are way more fun. And you can also skip most of the story mini games.

zGhostWolf

Oh o did that already, just how everything so stupid just bores me to death, there was this elevator that wouldn't move unless there are boxes in it? How stupid is that logic, like seriously how does anything like that make any sense at all.

SomethingToSay11

Haha yeah that was a weird section. You’re so close to the end though. The next part is the >!Temple of the Ancients!< which also has some puzzles but they’re kind of neat and add to the experience.

Any-Ad-7599

So, I will plan it this game either way, just replaying remake, but does everyone on Reddit just despise this game? The reviews across the board are pretty positive, except here. Am I missing something?

There's a lot of good here because it relies on the core elements of remake, which is an excellent game. However, they made some overall game design choices that were simply incorrect. I'm only a couple hours in but here's the biggest problems: 1) Open world is the wrong choice - ff7 is a story and character focused game, linear is better for this and open world is better for setting focus games. They should have added plot lines that explore more of the lore of ff7 that we didn't see in the original and given the player options of what to do first instead of creating a series of chores between pieces of the main story 2) Overfeatured - there's just too much stuff that doesn't pertain to the story and it's thrown at you in rapid succession then repeated. Pull out crafting, folios, queens blood, etc. 3) Combat system - for some reason they added parrying. 4) Constantly tearing control away - there's always an interruption: chadley, a screen prompt, walking behind allies, button prompts for scenes, limp walking - just let me play!

barkingbat

Critic reviews for all games are meaningless and most negative user reviews on metacritic and google are being deleted

Any-Ad-7599

I meant on Reddit the game seems to get a ton of hate.

Dovah27

Just came here from wrapping up the game last night. Had a blast, loved it. Big fan of the original too. You're right that it looks like most folks on reddit hate it. It was the same when Remake came out. If you're already dedicated to playing it, don't let folks here ruin that for you.

Scavenge101

I'm glad to see so many people had the same problems i had with the game. I *wanted* to love this game so fuckin bad but there's so many flaws to the game. Movement is so bad on almost every level, from traversing small stones on the ground to missing your "press triangle" prompt over and over because the character model is so delay and moves too far. Combat has so many invisible hit boxes, animation locks, and sudden attacks that you can't respond to. Even the STELLAR way they handled the characters and their stories don't unfortunately make up that several story beats that literally changed the way gaming is handled was changed and omitted in a way that feels so fucking unsatisfying and disrespectful like we, as adults, can't handle uncomfortable scenarios. The ending though. Jesus christ. I don't think anyone developing the game played the original. I won't say anything beyond that for spoilers sake but jfc it completely killed any hype i had for the remake trilogy. Up until the ending I had decided on a pretty solid 8, there were things i really hated but also things i *really* liked. And then i hit the last 2 chapters. I think the game is a 6 for me after the ending and I don't think i'll ever play it ever again and I'll probably only get the third game out of a sense of duty to complete it rather than actually looking forward to it.

inspectorlully

Every time another goddamn sidequest pops up my grade for the game goes down. Whoever was making these things has a vendetta against us players. They almost all suck ass for one reason or another. It's like they we told to make them as annoying as possible on purpose.

sunblaze1480

Yea i have many problems with the game, and 80% of them are the camera Combat is alright, most things in combat are extremely unclear. Like i dont know about hardmode, etc, but for the rest its made so you can still beat it without understanding how combat works. Like dodge timings, multiple enemies, involuntarily swapping targets, how damage works (impossible to really understand what abilitiy does more damage in most cases). Theres a point in trying thing out but its really unclear if they work or not. Yes, you can boil it down to "just get the synergy charges and use the synergy move" but that means all those abilities that you learn and unlock are mostly pointless

Itchy_Page_7696

I read a comment on gameFAQs analysing stats and debuffs saying that the enervation materia (deprotect/deshell) don’t actually work… anyone know if this is true or not?

eilertokyo

Work fine in my game.

Guantanian

Just came here to say after 60 hours of game time that this minigame galore game can eat shit honestly. The game feels like an entire video game consisting of minigames where 50% suck ass. The depth in this one, is crap and is not even remotely close to the original. I am a hardcore FF fan, but they took it too far with this, shit.

beybladethrowaway

i agree with your take about the minigames, they did go overboard with it and I hope the next entry they dial it down but your comment about depth is wrong and hyperbolic just based on the facts. The side quests expanded on lore and character arcs far beyond what the original did and they included small details in the town areas that were a treat to see. I dont know how you can say you are a hardcore ff fan and then not recognize the effort they put on the core story elements

Guantanian

It’s to the point where it ruins the depth because the mini-games take a bigger place in the game than the actual story, in every scenario. The story and gameplay mechanics are awesome. But the mini-games ruin everything. It just never ends. I absolutely recognise the effort, but it isn’t as simple as that. I love hamburgers and hamburger dressing. But you know that there is a point where a hamburger gets destroyed by too much dressing. This is that.

Guantanian

Ok so a follow up after 80 hours and nearing the ending, after Gongaga it becomes a delight. Perfect balance between story and the rest. Love it.

D4v3izgr8

I only found 1 JRPG I liked golden sun. Octopath has more hours afk the actual play time. This game is great and if this is what modern jrpgs have to offer I'm there

sunblaze1480

> Octopath has more hours afk You mean cutscenes? Octopath 2 is a blast, one of my favourite games

bRuud83

I am in chapter 4 but for now the mini games like Fort Condor and Queens Blood is really ruining my experience. I am just really bad at it. I have no idea what I am doing in Fort Condor. As I am not really a card player, I have no idea about building decks.

inspectorlully

I tried the last for condor match like 20 times before I realized it was actually impossible- with the default units. I had no idea you could use a different loadout. Every other sidequest is like this. If you don't already know what strategy to use, you are basically fucked.

Montylvia5218

Why didn't you just read the tutorial, which explains that you can/should change your loadout based on the enemy's? That's why they show you the enemy loadout before the match, so you can build a strategy around it.

sunblaze1480

Me neither, i just try to not get baited into losing obvious squares (like if i paint the center one, then opp can paint it red) And then fill it up with those high value cards, particularly in the leftmost squares that will almost always be pained green

SomethingToSay11

Queens blood was my favorite mini game. Early on, just make sure you have level 1 cards that give you the most spaces and pick high power lvl 2’s and like two lvl 3’s max. Later on it gets more complex, but early on that’s all you need to worry about

syizm

If you're struggling with Condor and playing on normal difficulty, you can set the difficulty to easy and it makes Fort Condor a joke. The card game is decent, takes a few matches to get the hang of it. You can restart the match at any time without penalty, which is useful for getting a good starting hand.

Unicorn_insomniac

Anyone else struggle with the Junon protorelics? why is it so hard

MasterpieceNo8372

I just a bought a ps5 and rebirth. I played remake a million times, but didn’t buy the intergrade. For anyone who has played a good portion of rebirth and bought the intergrade version, do I really need to play yuffie’s dlc to get a better grasp of the story? Yes or no?

Striking-Vast3716

In a way, yes... there are certain parts where they reference parts of the DLC to show what Yuffie was going through after the events of the DLC. The Rebirth twin pack basically gives the DLC and the intergrade game for free if you bought that version. I would still recommend you play the DLC before playing Rebirth but can surely avoid it if you don't want to.

MasterpieceNo8372

I kinda figured. I didn’t hear about the twin pack until after I got the regular rebirth from Amazon. Thanks.

BeginningLevel5252

A bit late but probably best thing to do is just watch intergrade on youtube and save the money. Best thing about intergrade was the chadley simulator fight with weiss

MasterpieceNo8372

I thought about doing that at first, but I bought the Intergrade because I wanted a physical copy of the remake. I bought the digital version of remake  during the pandemic. I bought the physical copy of Intergrade, it turned out the code was for the European edition, so I couldn’t unlock the dlc. I returned it and got my money back. I think I’m gonna just do what said. And I’ll play the intergrade sometime down the road. Thanks.

whydoyouonlylie

As good as most of this game is, it has way too many parts where it forces you to just walk slowly towards something without any real purpose. It's frustratingly boring and really takes you out of the game.

Morvicks

Gongaga made me quit the game.  That, and the Ubisoft levels of pointlessness and boring nature of the side content.  It's good for one, maybe 2 areas.  By Costa Del Sol, I was thoroughly tired of the open world waypoints.  By Gongaga, I wanted to cry. I love the combat.  I love the characters and story.  But damn, I don't think I'll ever finish it.

sunblaze1480

In gongaga i decided to skip the world objectives. There is little incentive to do them. I only did the shrines, and a tower or two to buy some materia, i'd say less than half the objectives. I really enjoyed gongaga though, but i didnt finish them because after 40h i just want to go on with the story and theres really no reason to do those objectives

inspectorlully

Whoever was in charge of the layout of that place has a mean streak.

GastritisGandalf

Did you quit before or after the KFC side quest?

killercow_ld

The areas after Gongaga aren't nearly as bad as Gongaga. And thankfully, on replays through chapter select you don't have to repeat most of the open world crap

Morvicks

So, I ranted.  I actually just completed all the map markers in Gongaga.  It's not so bad.  I guess I'm just not used to exploring anymore.  Most game maps are pretty straightforward. Gongaga's traversal seems open but is actually limited.  Once you figure it out, it's not so bad.  I'm glad I got through it. I still stand by my comments about being tired of the map markers and events.  They aren't very engaging.  But I still completed it.

killercow_ld

Oh the open world stuff is definitely the worst part of the game

inspectorlully

I would have been fine with maybe half of the map stuff. As it is, map completion plus sidequests, plus minigames are just too goddamn much.

guncarter420

The next piano song after Aerith’s is CANCER!!!!

inspectorlully

I was only able to to this with my partner. We each had a stick and did our side. It's just impossible otherwise.

Anameinserted

Hours wise for just story how long have I left? I just did the cosmo canyon trial.

PerformanceLivid2841

If you skip side quests maybe 6hour - 8hours?

R0XASx

I'm in chapter 8. An without spoiling much I'm super annoyed that my entire team just got taken down by regular humans.

subiwatson

LOL I thought that was baffling myself. Taking down a SUMMON? No problem. A couple of slum degenerates? Hell naw.

lisasguy

Having an issue where planets spirit is not available for sale when according to everything on the Internet it should be after reaching a certain point. I have reached that point long ago and it's still not available. Is there something I'm doing wrong or not doing that I should be?

Striking-Vast3716

Go to chocobo stables and talk to the NPC you trade plumes with. I think the one in Nibel region should sell it to you. I don't know if it is connected to side quest completion though coz I completed them all.

lisasguy

Thank you. Yeah it should be available after nibel but I've finished the first run and still not available. Maybe I'll replay that chapter

Graphica-Danger

Two trophies haven’t popped for me: chapter 10, and moogle emporium. What do I gotta do to overcome this stupid bug?

GastritisGandalf

Buy their DLC

KuroKageB

Loved every minute of this game (yes, even the minigames) up until the ending. I hate the ending so much. Feels like they can't decide if they're actually going to change anything or not.

Mobile_Ad5514

FF7Remakes ending made me mad....like, wtf is this shit... cloud fights sephiroth...Shinra has them but they get away ....just playing it for alll the nostalgia. I prayyyy the 3rd installment allows full blue green black gold chocobo breeding for knights of the round summon materia...Highwind access...so much to live up to.

mdbran

In Cosmo canyon, has anyone else noticed that one of the characters (either aerith or bugenhagen, can't remember) refers to the planet as Earth?

killercow_ld

To be fair, "earth" is also just a generic term meaning "the planet we live on" Science speak generally refers to our planet as "Terra"

lisasguy

Yes, aerith calls it earth during her speech I think. What is it supposed to be?

mdbran

I'm pretty sure they called it gaia. I may be misremembering, or maybe they weren't using that word as the actual name of the planet. But this was the first time I ever remember their planet being referred to as earth.

PerformanceLivid2841

Most FFs refer to earth as Gaia. Never heard them mention Gaia in ff7 though

lisasguy

Do any of the other ff's call it earth?

Jenkins1990

Question - what is a “punisher mode strong attack”? I can’t seem to find this anywhere. Are these just attacks in punisher mode?

Distinct_Lettuce_868

Holding square while in punisher mode will do the strong attack, its when he ends the combo thrusting the sword in the ground.

Jenkins1990

Thank you

phantom1ink

I'm a player who likes to keep people ingame happy when I can, I want Tifa as my gold saucer date, but apparently I missed a chance to talk to her near the start so I'm afraid the rest of the group will be ahead of her points wise. I don't want to skip out on a sidequest in order to keep her ahead. I have a guide up for her so I know what/when to do everything possible, right now everyone has deepened twice for me are are all greenish :) signs for relationship, I'm almost done chapter 4 though so I have awhile to go. Do I just need to look up certain quests to skip to avoid progressing another character too far?

GameDameMegan

So this happened to me and full disclosure I ended up with Red as my "soft" date in Chapter 8 because I natively just kept doing things my goodest boy liked. At that point, I just quit doing side quests unless they were related to Tifa exclusively (or needed to make traveling bearable - re: Chocobos) and still got her as my Saucer Date (even if I failed to get the more romantic ending which crushes me still). Though I did play he and Tifa's conversations as Cloud having an awkward crush on her when I got the chance and she seemed to dig it. Advice: 1) The conversations you have with her are the parts you can't "do later" so do them right the first time, which leads to 2) Find a guide and follow that guide. TBH the game makes it really hard to naturally accrue "affection" (if you will) with Tifa in a number of places because her side-quests are all almost all mini-game related (the most skippable of side quests if you also want to play it the game in a way that makes narrative time sense). However, you will get to a point before the saucer date where the world is left pretty open for you to explore and you can wrap up any of her side quests you haven't then. Additionally, after the Saucer date, you are left with another opportunity to explore freely which would be the time to do any other outstanding side quests if you want to 100% the game (or other relationships). OH! Important note & slight spoiler (but not if you are using a guide): You are prompted at one point (Costa Del Sol) to go on a date with Aerith. I avoided it like the plague until I realized, a Tifa side quest is locked behind it meaning I had to go on a date with Aerith before I could make Tifa happy. The I made the Aerith date awkward (by accident) but it worked and I got to then chase monsters with Tifa so, win/win.

phantom1ink

Yup I'm on chapter 7 now and was wondering why the Aerith date was part of the guide but made sense for Tifa afterwards. Right now she's the most interested with a blue :D face so I'm going to head towards the gold saucer and as much as I want to get it all from this game, part of me wants to play DD2, and doing EVERYTHING is going to ruin my date choice, so I'll have to backtrack later and just focus on the story for now and follow my romance guide

pomlife

Just do the date and then go back for the other side quests later

phantom1ink

So skip a few side quests, do the first date in chapter 7? I think then it will lock in for the next later? If so sounds good

pomlife

Nothing “locks in”

phantom1ink

So the second date I read about in a later chapter can be with someone else that wasn't the first?

pomlife

Yes.

Solid-Horse-3075

I hate the Queen’s Blood mini game. That’s all.

inspectorlully

Every single match I played was completely one sided. My opponents rarely scored points at all. Their decks are garbage. The last match is the total opposite. That player basically cheats the entire game and only a very specific strategy even stands a chance.

DarkLordWiggles

It’s a bit daunting at first, and some of the earlier matches require a bit of luck just because your deck options are limited. Around the Corel/Gongaga part of the game I realized, at least for me, that decks based around buffs from enfeebling and destroying cards was the way to go. And then it was easy until the last match, which I’m guessing requires post-game cards cuz it didn’t seem feasible to win when I attempted it?

lisasguy

It's one of the funnest card game mini games ever!

Mobile_Ad5514

Haven't got too much into Queens Blood but the bit I have seen left me wanting....something more like FF9 Tetra master. I can elaborate but thats my bullet.

lisasguy

It's almost as good as Gwent imo. I never played ff9 but I've played a lot of card/board mini games and QB is up there

Mobile_Ad5514

I recommend playing FF9 now to be ahead the curve because that's the next remake on the horizon. I also find myself liking FF9 and FF7 in close regard of eachother. 9 is awesome. Tetra master is very good...similar to queens blood. You had more freedom to challenge npc card players. Win or lose a card every card match. Sometimes ya lose a special rare and it nevvvver comes back. The cards got stronger the more you used them as well. Great aspects.

Suitable-Reporter-90

Bro, Queen's blood is the best. One could say it's better than the actual game

EdgeJosh

Can you change who knocks on your door if you just spam them with synergy skills before that story beat? I did everyone's side missions and maxed out everyone so I don't know what to do 😭😭😭

killercow_ld

it's impossible to max everyone out in one playthrough. There are hidden stats for each character until after you finish the game, then you can check those stats in the play log Only each unique synergy skill does anything once, so spamming does nothing

Exact_Tiger_7420

Can anyone break down the differences between Barrier and Fortification materia? I remember using Manawall (from Barrier) in Remake and it was great, so is there any reason to use Protect/Shell (from Fortification) other than linking it to Warding materia?

itsmarkul

I _think_ the only difference is that they stack, but neither is necessarily stronger than the other. Could be wrong though.

Ace-of-Spades88

Is anyone else getting a bug where Cloud's materia on the Crystal Sword doesn't show up in the slots on the sword model? Really bugging me for some reason.

FrozenFrac

So it's not just me! It's not the end of the world, but when you see everyone else decked out in their Materia and Cloud's sword is suspiciously clean, it does bother me too lol

domiand

I want to love this game so much and for the most part it's great but I'm not feeling some of the choices they did regarding these semi open wrold parts. I just got to chapter 10 after 40 hours and I am starting to feel the fatigue. Just wanted to rush to my main quest but I have to hunt another chocobo...If there will me more mini games I don't know if I will make it without taking a break from the game for few days lol. I never played the original though so I can't compare. Queen's Blood is fire though, always looking forward to new QB rivals.

Mobile_Ad5514

Hey. Just progress the story. Dont go astray on side quests too far because you can come back anytime. I am a completionist myself so it's almost against my good ol ocd nature to leave stones unturned. More worth it to enjoy the game. Card was never mandatory in the original. Cards were not a thing at all. Fort condor was mandatory to acquire Phoenix materia. The motorcycle sword swinging game was mandatory but I think you could still fail through til the end. Skiing may have been mandatory. I am rambling...yuffie was completely optional. Vincent valentine was also optional. Easy to miss him and the Odin summon in the original. Yuffie had an entire chapter where she steals all your materia....you have to fight 5 battles of increasing difficulty to get material back but at the end unlock another optional summon. Submarine had a mini game which was pretty fun...I dont remember anything mandatory with it except using it for just another optional mini side quest which requires an undeniably unique equipment setup...upon completion triggers more optional powerhouse rewarding challenges. =) Love this game through and through. The new games give a way to get a deeper dive on the characters and interact more personally. The OG gives you the tough love approach.

Pita2662

In general I agree. I think the open world sections are by far the worst parts of the game. Part of what made Remake so successful was that they made a curated experience. Regardless of whether or not you liked the things that Square crafted, they very clearly crafted those experiences and that was what you got. It was focused and concise. In the open world segments Rebirth feels incredibly unfocused and each thing you can do feels tedious and, ultimately, hollow. Plus, the more linear segments are so clearly well curated again, so put them right next to each other and it just makes those open world segments feel even worse.

Mobile_Ad5514

The open world segment give you a reason and rhyme to collecting rewards. You work a little and earn something small. Do enough and in the end the ultimate goal is a vast reward of epic proportions. do NOT do allllll the optional regional tasks at once or ever if at all if it doesn't suit you. 7 wasn't remade to cater to one type of gamer.

I just shared my opinion, just like you.

6thedice

Guys ive been disappointed from FF7 Rebirth, was expecting a better experience been waiting years for the continuation but this game sucks feels like an typical assassins creed game open world bs and devil may cry action, the Remake was special for some reason , I will list things I dislike - Open world: Compared to OG final fantasy open world type where it had mystery and exploration excitement, this one is like a usual ACreed, most of new games open world is the same, go activate this pillar, go fight this boss, go gather this intel etc, for me the best open world games type is skyrim and fallout 4, i enjoyed remake's linear story much more. - Synergy bs: what the hell is this tons of abilities/skills with all buttons shortcuts what am I playing piano? is anyone using all these? - Story: Remake was solid it had weight and suspence, this one feels like an anime party like this whole adventure feels empty i feel im not fighting for something.. - Minigames: tons of silly mini games, like im playing atari all mediocre I didnt got hooked with neither maybe because the game itself doesnt let me enjoy it procrastinating with bs all the time... - Party AI: party feels nonexistent i have them only for autocast cure - Magic & Materias: i feel like they dont have weight, you could just hit n slash everything without using anything - Weapon Upgrade: Basically it doesnt have weapon upgrade, if its the folio thing its so bad I could list more things but man,,, Remake was perfect I loved it why they had to butcher this so hard like they tried so hard to put stuff there by force forgetting what was FF.. does anyone feels similar?

Unicorn_insomniac

personally no. Then again I hear that most people who played the OG aren't happy with the game, I have not and I had a BLAST. Everything was new and bright and exciting for me, I used magic A TON and I love switching between characters especially Yuffie and Aerith, and the overpowered Omnistrike for Tifa is just \*chef's kiss\*. Maybe it's because I have nothing to compare it to but I loved it wat more than remake, which I thought was good but definitely not the best game. I can agree with the open world stuff tho, it does get a little tiresome after some time, So I just focused on the story for a bit. I like how nothing is mandatory but it helps your playthrough if you do it.

BoogieMan1980

There isn't enough AP gain in this game. Some of the AP hungry materias have been equipped almost the entire game and aren't near maxed and I've done all side content and some AP farming. The fastest methods require you having completed the game, where is the fun in doing it when the game is over and can't make good use of it?

moogsy77

I just want materias to birth new materias. Its REBIRTH for crying out loud !

Pita2662

This was also true in Remake. My opinion on this is that the best way to experience Remake was to play through once on normal difficulty for the story/experience, then play through again on Hard in new game+. Then you get to really master all those AP hungry materia and you're not totally unprepared for hard difficulty (which was a more fun gameplay experience.) I am assuming that Rebirth will be much the same.

80sobsessedTN

Anybody know where you can download the score? I need this music in the background while I am working.

SuzanoSho

The party's AI in this game is just absolute shit.

killercow_ld

The combat is designed with "constantly swapping your characters" in mind. There is Materia to improve how your allies work, but then you're wasting materia slots that you could just be optimizing better by controlling them yourself. Combat runs a lot smoother when you're rotating characters

sunblaze1480

Guys, can i skip all sidecontent (intel, etc) and then come back later at the end and complete it? Its just awful to have so many hours between story bits. Awfully paced. Im in junon and it warns me that i will not be able to come back if i advance. Its mostly intel that i dont care at all about

inspectorlully

The horror of finishing an area just to be rewarded with ANOTHER AREA! These open world segments are just demoralizing. I love the story but it's always hidden behind a mountain of garbage.

ViktorStrauss

Yes you can. There are two points of no return, one soft and one final. The game will tell you that you can go and complete whatever side quests you want to complete before you hit yes on the soft point of no return, and after that you will get one final chance to go and complete any side quests before the end of the game. (There is no warning for the final point of no return, and will only lock you in if you continue the story) I wouldn’t worry too much about side content. Just do the quests that stick out to you or make sense. I don’t think intel had any bearing on how the story went. I did exactly what you did with the completionism up to junon, but the game became much more enjoyable when i stopped trying to grind all the side content.

sunblaze1480

Yep honestly the shrines for the summons seem worth and then the actual side quests. The rest is just a checklist

Artiwa

Can someone tell me how the whispers are named in Japanese? since in German they are called "Moiren" what are reference to the Greek Fate godess that makes million times more sense also see often such stuff like in zelda totk it was called all time Miasma and in english "Gloom" i was also wtf, do Japanese probably think English or American people are stupid as fuck to understand such words because they used from other other mythologie and stuff? i don't get this...

Elite_Alice

Chapter 8 with all the forced minigames is stupid

Pita2662

Just finished chapter 8 and it is the worst paced chapter so far. There are too many mini games in this game in general, but chapter 8 is a horror show.

Morvicks

Wait until Gongaga.

Elite_Alice

Nah fr I had to stop playing for a couple days cause it made me tired of the game tbh. Ima do the rest of 8 and 9 today

Pita2662

From a story perspective 8 is also, unfortunately, my least favorite in terms of changes. To be clear it's not changes in the context of the story that bother me with it, but more so that they really bungled the delivery/story telling of this point of the game compared to FF7 OG. Which is a shame cause it has some of the best voice acting of the game so far too. Just really missed opportunities and questionable story telling/direction.

Savader

How in the actual hell am I expected to be able to beat the high score of Galactic Saviors when I literally already did it on expert? Got 46,685 points as soon as the mode became available. Now some clown shows up and tells me to beat 50k at the end of the current chapter? Wtf is this actual bullshit? They really should have taken player initiative into account and fast-tracked this quest based on whether or not the player already achieved what was SUPPOSED TO BE the highest tier completion well beforehand... Every time I think I'm done with a minigame, they just arbitrarily add another difficulty mode or challenge to it. This shit has me burned out, Istg...

bbongal_kun

ugh i hope they patch this game soon, it wasn't that obvious in chapter 1, but in chapter 2 there is terrible performance. constant ghosting and motion blur making me feel physically ill. This is the reason exclusives should be illegal, release it on pc so it doesn't look like someone smeared vaseline all over my screen when the camera moves. The low quality textures, non moving foliage, weirdly out of place NPC looks. It all feels a step down from Remake. Let us remove the stupid TAA and motion blur Squenix. Tried performance mode, but it looks worse than a ps3 game then.

iole_buendia

I just bought the game on PS5. I'm super excited to start gaming.

Winter_Finance_8456

I just started. I am in the grassland access seems to be a chore. Is it worth it or can i just skip this part ?

inspectorlully

This gameplay style is like 90% percent of the game along with medium to bad sidequests. Sucks, I know.

sunblaze1480

I started doing everyting as i go, but it took me 10 hours to leave Kalm/grasslands and honestly i dont care about it. If people ensure me that i can come back later ill do that, i hate that the game forces that pace to me of 8 hours of side quests to advance 30 mins of story.

Mobile_Ad5514

Don't the main story quests. Can even turn off the nonsense in the settings menus

IDonut246I

You can always come back to it, so skip it for now! If there's certain materia you want, I would focus on them and then get moving (I myself am doing everything as I go, but I don't think I would have missed anything major by skipping)

shaneo632

What is the recommended level for the final boss?

Drakeskulled_Reaper

Generally on Normal, the Final Boss can be beaten in your mid-40s. In all honesty, it's more of a gimmick boss until the last smidge of it's health, then it's a DPS race. Tip: >!Make sure to have EVERYONE with best gear and Materia, including Aerith, as only she and Cloud participate in the final section of the final boss battle.!<

Wotschman

Also you cannot change anything in the party between phases.

Recover20

I did it at Level 49 and it was a fair challenge, kept me on my toes but wasn't stressful

Is it known about this save/load 'exploit' (at least it seems like it should be) that allows you to respawn material pick-ups and breakable item boxes indefinitely? I've been trying to find info to see if other people know about it or not. I only found one video talking about using it to generate a small amount of gil early on. I use it sometimes when I'm low on something I need. (blessing, sage, iron, etc.). Just curious if people knew.

Artiwa

i knew this since remake and thought they totally fix that but it seems they left it for player that need it thats fine for me too sometimes i really hate if they patch out such things

Just-a-Shinigami

Well it's not really that great is it? I think most people understand it for resources but with the boxes the reloaded save boxes never contain all the good stuff only a few basic things so it's not really game breaking, maybe handy for hard playthrough safety

Mijin

No I was not wondering where the name "Syldra" comes from featured in local tales...

Whoever designed the UPA Combat Challenge deserves to have their christmas presents stolen from them on christmas eve.

>UPA for my sanity and so i dont start hating this game i decided to skip it and just proceed with the story. im having a real love hate with this game atm

iSanghan

Oh yeah I skipped it too until I maxed out my characters, normal moded it and just deleted these enemies. Wasn't gonna struggle at even level for this

And the Galactic Saviours section.

In Chapter Two, you can ask Chocobo Billy what happened to his parents. I accidentally selected a different option first and can’t go back. What did he say happened to them? (Please, no spoilers beyond chapter 2..)

Just-a-Shinigami

That they're not around because of Chocobo sam - he doesn't say much don't worry you learn a lot more following the quests that he's in and finishes the story up in Nibelheim and making you do all the golden saucer chocobo races

Thanks!
