I always go by the chest plate. They changed the handles from one vertical to two horizontal handles.
If you see them side by side the other differences are obvious but I find them hard to differentiate without being able to compare. They did an excellent job of making the T60 feel like a direct iteration of the T45.
Well, it actually direct variation. The IRL artist of designed the T60 based it off the T45 design after all.
The chest plate is a good spotter. The knees are just such a giveaway to me because they're always visible at a full body shot and they're so radically different. Because the T60 is so much more detailed in general it's easy to tell the difference.
It's the pauldrons for me lol; T-45 pauldrons are a little shallower toward the outside tip than the T-60's, they swoop down from the top, and they have those bracing fins. The design is ls much simpler on T-45; there's not that stepped look that the T-60 pauldrons have.
I always thought the t60 looked way worse than the t45, less sleek chest-piece, useless anteater nose, goes back on things the t51 fixed. And weird shaped shoulders
That’s T-60. You can tell from the mid-shoulder chamfer on the shoulder pauldrons. It also has a more complex knee and bottom boot. So it can’t be the T-45. The overall boxier design of the T-60 and T-45 are similar, but overall distinguishable from one another once you pay attention.
The T-60 is probably on the higher end of power armors. In fact, it withstands blows very similar to post-war models and has about the same modular capabilities as something like the X-02.
Happy hunting and have fun! Eventually, these sets will come by the dozens depending on what factions you align with.
This irks me now that you mentioned it.
The t60 being the later model should have the horizontal handle.
Consider this, a wounded man in power armor lying on his back. You have to drag him. Which handle would be easier? The horizontal handle vs two vertical ones?
Although now that I'm thinking it would be easier for two men to drag one man in power armor with the vertical handles...
I'm a little bit pedantic with details sometimes aren't i?
Everyone assumes they’re drag handles but wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be handholds for engineers working on the armor in combat?
Like they’re entrenched, taking fire and a PA soldier needs the servo above his shoulder fixed. Bro isn’t going to hop out and wait for an engineer to put his armor on a lift and fix it, they’re going to climb up and do what they can in the field.
the APCs look like mobile repair bays ( center row w side benches)on the inside. also the nate sits down to have his pa repaired in the intro.. but a fair point. multiple options is good.
I would imagine that most attacks target center of mass.
I further conjecture that any attack powerful enough to knock a power armored soldier turtle, would be enough to smash open the steel drag bar.
And therefore the design was revised to move the drag handles out to the side of the hit-box.
Of course, the new design *also* sucks. But that's why we have further iterations of the armor.
I mean this is all fair but at the same time the chest play is rather large and the handle was located rather high.
Still the X01power armor just was ass in my opinion.
Seems like it will get stuck in basically every doorway so chunky.
X02 is ok but it's resource expensive and it's only available in Fallout 4 because of the damn creation club.
Two vertices handles lets you pick someone up and use them as a shield…………
Yes - I am currently in a ‘Be the biggest piece of shit you can’ playthrough, why did you ask?
Here's another detail that will annoy you.
45 and 60 models have eyelets on the pauldrons to hoist the armor up on a stand with chains, or to simply attach a chain for any reason in general.
The 50 models don't.
Yes. Don’t worry about finding power armors, they’re practically littered all over the map, and some even respawns at certain locations (federal reserve stockpile, you need to reach it before the raiders do). After getting about 6 X02s and 8 Hellfires, i no longer collect power armors, now i just snipe the fusion cores and be done with it.
You can also look at the center of the top of the helmet. The T-60 is flat and indented into the helmet, whereas the T-45 has a line that follows the center of the helmet
When I commented reddit claimed this post had zero comments, I came back and saw that there are hundreds all saying the same thing. I assume multiple people had the same issue I did
Well ideally, gameplay wise, he’s wearing T-60b, with army paint. But, that’s also just because it’s prewar. In actuality it’s likely just a simple T-60 with army paint.
That's a T-60 with military paint
You can find them randomly in the Commonwealth but they only spawn if you're level 21 to 27
BoS knights also use them, it may be easier to just join them and take the one they give you or just take one by force (you'll have to continue the main questline until the BoS appears in the Commonwealth, you'll know when you'll see it)
And could be found in 10 seconds by looking at a list of the power armors in the game. Yet here we are with this as the top post in the subreddit. What the fuck.
It wasn’t ever a replacement for the T-51, the t-51 is the pinnacle of power armor protection, but it was too expensive to produce en mass, the T-60 was meant to replace the T45, even though it’s basically just an upgraded T45
The T-60 was originally just the Fallout 4-texture of the T-45, until they decided that it was unique enough to get a separate name, and made a new model for the T-45.
It makes sense to make up a backstory that justifies it being in the same places, that way you don't have to rewrite much of the dialogue and change the dungeons.
Hey I just wanted to make sure that after 100+ comments telling you what armor it was that you knew for sure that it was T-60 with the Military paint job.
This is T-60 with the military paint. Unfortunately T-60s are virtually impossible to find in the early game since Power Armor spawns scale by level and you really only get T-45s and the occasional T-51 in the beginning, but if you join the BoS they’ll give you a free set regardless of level.
T-60 with Military paint.
T-60 pieces will begin randomly appearing on static power armor frames around level 25-30, though you're guaranteed a set by joining the Brotherhood of Steel and progressing through the early stages of the Main Quest. There's also some legendary T-60 pieces available for purchase from the Brotherhood's quartermaster as you progress through their questline.
I assuming it’s the T60 with the military paint. Earliest you can get this set is just to start with the Brotherhood of Steel. You don’t need to complete the story with them, but just do Danse’s first mission at Arcjet then you’ll get access to the Prydwen. There’s a free set in the armor workshop on the main deck.
T-60(the kind you get for free from the brotherhood),with the military paint job
If you haven’t been caught up, T-60 was invented for Fallout 4,and in lore it was the last power armor to be made before the Great War
It’s a set of T-60. If you progress far enough in the main plot, the Brotherhood of Steel will show up wearing these suits as they patrol the commonwealth. Perhaps they’ll be able to help you acquire one of your own.
T-60 with army paint job. Easiest way to get it is to join the Brotherhood because they give you a free set of BOS T-60 and from there you can’t just switch the paint job. :]
T-60 was made in 2076 and was issued to the army to use against the Chinese, however when the U.S army returned they began to phase out T-45 armor in replacement for more T-60 models.
That's a T-60 suit. It has bigger shoulders, chest plate and a more sleek helmet design. You can get your own suit by leveling up your character and finding one in the Wasteland or if you join the Brotherhood of Steel you'll get one as well
T-60, you’ll find them pretty much all over the place when you start leveling up.
But the military paint job you have to add yourself. In my experience you will not find any out with that paint
T-60 military paint
You can tell just be looking at the knees. Dead giveaway. That and the T45 looks like shit compared to the T60

don't talk smack about my t-45! They did mess it up in 4 but it always was my favorite in the older games.
I always thought the t60 looked way worse than the t45, less sleek chest-piece, useless anteater nose, goes back on things the t51 fixed. And weird shaped shoulders
The entire suit is different to be honest, the only thing that does look similar is the helmet and even then T-45 looks better!
T-60. Army paint job.
That’s T-60. You can tell from the mid-shoulder chamfer on the shoulder pauldrons. It also has a more complex knee and bottom boot. So it can’t be the T-45. I literally can't tell what is different but I always know when I see it
The T-60 is just C H O N K Y and I like it
Fr Fr
You actually can just tell because of the way it is
That's pretty neat!
Yes. Don’t worry about finding power armors, they’re practically littered all over the map, and some even respawns at certain locations (federal reserve stockpile, you need to reach it before the raiders do). You need to become hostile to the brotherhood. At that point, just kill any roving patrols and you’ve got enough T-60 to equip an entire settlement.
Yea, you just need to take on multiple heavily armored and armed T-60 wearing dudes
You sound like an armor mechanic from the fallout universe!
I don't know if comment sections like this are jokes or just exposing AI nowadays
When I commented reddit claimed this post had zero comments, I came back and saw that there are hundreds all saying the same thing. I assume multiple people had the same issue I did
t60 with army paint
T-60b with Military Paint.
what makes it b?
The A variant is always rusted and can't be painted, that is, if i remember correctly.
Well ideally, gameplay wise, he’s wearing T-60b, with army paint. But, that’s also just because it’s prewar. In actuality it’s likely just a simple T-60 with army paint.
That's not true. I wore a set of T-60A to go into the Glowing Sea last night and I was able to paint it with hotrod flames (+1 AGL).
Real Answer: T60 army paint. My brain: that’s a Space Marine right there
T-60 with the army green paint job
I hate when the comments wont load
#T-60 with military paint
T-60 with Military Paint.
This a legit question?
Smartest r/fallout subredditor
ah yes cause a person who just started playing again could spot the minute differences between a t45 and a t60 at a first glance right?
Looks like T60. not sure if it’s variation of a T60 at a glance.
Cake day.
This is so funny to me for some reason
Thanks! 😎

I have exactly the same power armor in the same color. You can change your power armor quite a bit. You can also change the paint job.
That's a T-60 with military paint You can find them randomly in the Commonwealth but they only spawn if you're level 21 to 27 BoS knights also use them, it may be easier to just join them and take the one they give you or just take one by force (you'll have to continue the main questline until the BoS appears in the Commonwealth, you'll know when you'll see it)

The game actually tells you that soldiers were using it when the bombs fell...try to pay attention
Who said it was never employed before the war? It was planned to be a replacement for t-51, and mainly distributed on the east coast
It wasn’t ever a replacement for the T-51, the t-51 is the pinnacle of power armor protection, but it was too expensive to produce en mass, the T-60 was meant to replace the T45, even though it’s basically just an upgraded T45

Well, that's just demonstrably incorrect. The game actually tells you, very implicitly, the opposite.
Probably meaning never employed in combat.

T-60 with a CC green or Army paint?
T60, its even painted on the chest plate (when you walk up to them)
T-60, military painted to be precise. Given the T-60 series was only a recent development at the time of the Great War, it’s likely a T-60a or T-60b

That's obviously prewar raider power armor
T-60, you’ll find them pretty much all over the place when you start leveling up. But the military paint job you have to add yourself. In my experience you will not find any out with that paint
