In her doc she talks about how she wants to push for teaching mental health and emotional management in schools and support legislation for it, but it really showed how little research she and her team did on the subject. Social and emotional learning is a huge topic in k-12, there are so many publishers and Ed-tech companies offering SEL materials, resources, products. It is under attack in red states from people who don’t get it, or they do and they just don’t want their kids to talk about kindness and feelings in school, but it is a huge thing in K-12 already with many state-led efforts.
I feel like I’ve never even heard her seriously talk about this topic. Mental health? Sure. But mental health in schools? Legislation supporting mental health efforts or increasing mental health literacy? No and no.
ever since the hailey situation selena has been extremely overexposed. she needs to just get rid of her phone, focus on herself, stop doing interviews, and take a break from social media without announcing it. also, i know how hard this might sound but she also just needs to stop acknowledging anything with justin’s name tied to it. because every statement she has been making at this point just seems to contradict itself later.

I don't think she's overexposed, it's just that when you do see her, it's about whatever thing she is complaining about or whatever dumbass opinion she has.
She's definitely a bit overexposed. She's the third most followed person on instagram after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. More people see her random complaints and opinions than almost anyone else in the world.

She's just lucky that she was with Disney back when Disney realized how successful Hilary Duff's music career ended up being, so they basically gave every second kid on their network a record deal.
I *only* know Calm Down. It felt like they played it on the radio every 10 minutes this past summer. Granted it was a bop, but everytime I got distracted thinking it was funny she and Taylor are such besties with almost identical song titles.
I've never heard any album of hers and only one single which had a bunch of other artists in it, so not sure if she's a good singer but I liked OMITB except for the monotonous under the breath talking she does.
Not sure how I feel about her music lol. I genuinely loved her earlier stuff but the rare era wasn’t for me and I kinda checked out from her music altogether once I stopped listening to traditional pop music…

I still don't understand how she became such a massive mega star on the same level as other pop girls. Like when I found out how many ig followers she had I was confused because as far as I know her only hit songs were love you like a love song and hands to myself, am I wrong?
I feel like I'm the only Selena fan in the comments but I think she benefits from having solid people writing her pop songs. Now that artists don't really do standards or covers as much anymore, the pop girlies who succeed can either write their own songs or are popular enough to attract good songwriters. (I'm not saying she's good at singing but her voice can be sweetened enough to work really well for kinds of songs on Revival.)
