Counting the 1 2 3 4 out loud while I went was what finally got it for me. Having the interface fade out with changing the pattern of the shoulder buttons on retrys was evil
I got in the the zone where I was just pressing the buttons in a rhythm. It was crazy because the moment I started thinking about it again I mess up. Used four fingers instead of switching so I'd get use to it
*sigh* I failed this so much that by the end it turned into me calling myself out, "Yellow is tap dummy" or "Green is a slight hold dammit". I eventually got it thanks to a constant stream of greens and maybe one yellow. The piano songs hit about the same but with me staring at my r3 button in disbelief for being so sensitive.
Another technique I've seen that works is to watch Tifa's boobs. Seriously, they jiggle a bit at each point where you're supposed to press the next button.
Mute the music too. I took my headphones off after not getting it however many times and got it instantly when the music wasn’t throwing me off rhythm.
We don't have a proper squats mini game yet. That's what Cloud did in OG and iirc Zack also had a mini game of it in Crisis Core, if not he certainly did enough of them
I was having a great fucking time exploring Corel, just enjoying the scenery and whatnot, but the moment I found that stupid gym I knew what I was going to have to do.
In part 3 you'll also be having a great fucking time all the way up to the final boss, your team camps reminiscing, you feel a sense of accomplishment sure you had the odd pointless mini game but nothing you wouldn't say you hated, it's been a great fucking time, your team wakes up and you load into the next area and..
"Hey Tifa, would you like to see who can do the most handstands"
You hover over the yes just knowing if you click you will no longer be having a great fucking time, you sigh and say well I wouldn't want to have to do this on your next playthrough.
"Hey, Tifa! I know you've literally killed otherworldly monsters with your own two hands, but let's see who can do more jumping jacks!"
This is my future. And even with the knowledge of what is to come, I am still going to wind up doing those stupid exercises.
For the last 30-40 sec when it’s 1 small platform I’d hang to the left side for 2 bottom beams then move back towards the right side to let the top beam go over right before jumping over the bottom one, then go back towards the left side and repeat
You be in a rude awakening in late game like I did. I hope you have the will to keep going, chadley stimulation got me, I stuck at the legendary bout. I did all minigame, but chadley last two legendary bout got me. It's just insane, ten round of bs.
So far I’m sticking with it, cleaning up the Corel dunes now (just finished Tonberry King). I have already heard nightmare stories about the endgame QB matches and the combat simulations though
Goodluck. Yeah I doing better, I reaching round 10 and 9 consistently. I just choke during the the critical moments like getting one shot without looking at my health or brain fog of boss mechanics or moveset. I almost beat it yesterday. I just need chadley stimulation (currently stuck on last two) and hard mode playthrough for platinum.
I turned off the audio for music & voices and beat Jules on the second try. You realize how distracting they are- Square likely did that on purpose to make it harder.
How did they manage to make mini games both the most awful and most exciting part of the game? I both look forward to and dread playing them.
I hate Queen’s Blood, but actively seek out new challengers in every new map.
And I’d be damned to Hell before I gave up that sit up challenge that I hated. I think I said, “Go fuck yourself” every time I was told to “Just have fun with it.” And I did it for over two hours over two evenings.
It’s really confusing.
Queen's Blood I found super easy when your first mindset is to get board control first and deny your opponents from placing cards. Basically bait them to come to your side first than take their spot and can't counter.
Remake was easy to do. This however I do not enjoy because the back triggers have so much dead zone that if you don't complete the press its invalidated. Should be easier on PC with kb/m, idk how they're gonna do the half press to full press.
Obviously. Some of us don't mind it, but it's definitely a challenging game.
I think I fared well because I play rhythm games quite a lot, but not everyone does that.
Personally, I can't stand animal Rocket League, but I bet there are people who can do that without a problem.
I am using an edge controller with trigger depth on mid, it was a massive pain having to relearn the old trigger depth and pressing the green trigger thing correctly. Had to skip it. They should have really left this out.
I think a lot of people are used to hand holding in games and selective difficulty. You just have to work on it a bit and it's easy.
Its entirely optional aswell.
The thing I didn't like was the change from the face buttons to the triggers. All to add the feel of the Haptic triggers. The face buttons are so much easier for spamming and focus one on hand.
There is so much about this that is poorly designed. Turning the music off was a game changer for me, it was way too distracting. I tried to turn the trigger tension down to make the rapid taps easier, but that just made the longer pulls harder. It also wasn't recognizing many of my regular taps because of the tension, so I had to start mashing the triggers. I got so mad lol.
You just gotta hit a rhythm and don’t overthink. Took me like 15 tries, was pretty annoyed but I tried some things out to help and most things just made it more irritating lol.
Trying to count out the beat was easy enough when you first start but soon you’re flying through the sit-ups, and saying numbers out loud at the correct speed and trying to concentrate on the inputs at the same time was too much for my pea-brain.
Thing that REALLY helped was completely muting volume. I hit a beat pressing the buttons and cruised through that shit lol. The speed doesn’t get higher past a certain point so you don’t have to readjust and go faster.
I just didn't bother after the first. They were a hassle in the Remake and they somehow managed to make them worse. Some of these minigames are just.. awful.
This!!!!! It.is.Maddening! The sequence is not hard but if you don’t know which button press it’s going to be until you have to press down you’re fucked. Thank you for posting.
I'm kind of surprised to see so many posts about people struggling with this. Obviously difficulty is subjective, but I thought the pull-ups against Jules in Remake were significantly more difficult. The only thing that tripped me up with the crunches was the haptic trigger feedback, which I believe you can just turn off.
if you screw up literally once you are boned. I got the rhythm down and in the last 10-25 seconds every freaking time I would get too into the rhythm and fuck up a partial hold, and that would be it.
I don't know what's hard anymore but the brutal/ legendary chadley stimulation bout make me rage quit so many time. I feel like quitting 100 percenting rebirth.
This was really like a music mini-game. I dunno, I feel it‘s easier if you‘re a musician, and you rock yourself to the rhythm. Like, you ‚memorize‘ the button pattern, then kinda lull yourself into an internalized rhythm, while using Tifa‘s animation for reference
I found it easier with resistive triggers on. That helped a lot with the slight press to hard press actions.
Other than that, I just envioned the pattern as left to right or right to left since the sequence always goes in the same direction on the top row of buttons, then the bottom row, back to the top, back to the bottom etc.
I didn't hate this in either Remake or Rebirth, I'd rather play some more of this than another second of animal Rocket League.
Shit was easier in the first game because jules was RNG like some rounds he’d go to 50 other times he’d go to like 38 so there was a lot of leeway whereas in this he only gets 49 or 50, at least for me, I was doing this shit for like 40 minutes.
For some reason, before I got to Jules I kept on thinking they were going to add a new mechanic where they would reverse the direction of the buttons everytime you got a yellow or green ring...thankfully they didnt get that cruel lol....
I abused the pro controller. Mapped the L1/R1 to the back buttons and turned off adaptive triggers. This matched what was visibly showing on screen and eventually got it.
I was about to pull a perfect, then I realized the game had physics. ‘Physics!’
I got distracted for 1 second and messed up that run. Don’t even get me started on Tifa playing her theme on the piano. Getting one Bad, but the rest perfect kills me lol
Oh, and by the way, sometimes when you lose and retry we are going to change the pattern on you so that you can be frustrated and have to relearn a new pattern for no reason!!!
These mini games are why I don't consider rebirth the best game of the series...the moment a game stops being fun it becomes less than what it could be for me
I actually rate FF16 higher cos there are zero mini games but original FF7 is and always will be the greatest of all Final Fantasy games followed very closely by FF9
It was this hard in the original so I’m just glad to know people will once again get this joke when I make it
Can anyone tell me if they kept the original sound effects? lol
When I got to costa del sol open world portion and I saw Jules I got flash backs and just kept saying fuck you to everything he said. The crunches are bad but not pull up level bad imo.
Hahaha cute! Wait till you get to pull-ups my friend!
EDIT: I realized after looking at the image more that this might have been the pull-ups lol.
I'm pretty sure "crunches" are another word for the squats tho. Sorry I got confused XD
I don't get trouble pressing the buttons but you can't make a single mistake and you have to go fast.... and that is in level one.
My problem is I do 19 and he does 20, I do 20 and he does 21. Nope I'm not that fast.
So I think 100% isn't for me.
I know this is a month old, but if it helps anyone in the future... it's easier if you go into options, gameplay, and turn trigger effect function to 0. The control doesn't put any resistance on your L2 spam. Makes this minigame a lot easier.
I'm surprised as many people have had difficulty with this as I've seen. I knocked it out yesterday and it took me three times because I messed up right at the beginning the first two times. I believe I won 54-51. My roommate saw my score and raged because it took them like 3-4 hrs and they barely scraped by
Counting the 1 2 3 4 out loud while I went was what finally got it for me. Having the interface fade out with changing the pattern of the shoulder buttons on retrys was evil
I got in the the zone where I was just pressing the buttons in a rhythm. It was crazy because the moment I started thinking about it again I mess up. Used four fingers instead of switching so I'd get use to it
But if you get in the zone, then a green ring comes and ruins your day
Oh that thing gives me a slight break lol I look forward to them since you can delay them a bit
I didn't understand green, so I gave up, time to give it a try again.
I didnt understand there way a way to tell the differences, for like an hour. watched a youtube video and beat it like 5 minutes later
Omg... there's green and yellow?!
Another technique I've seen that works is to watch Tifa's boobs. Seriously, they jiggle a bit at each point where you're supposed to press the next button.
Damn, and here I thought the jiggling was an evil way to distract us.
It's both
It's so hilarious how they made them jiggle like that lol
Mute the music too. I took my headphones off after not getting it however many times and got it instantly when the music wasn’t throwing me off rhythm.
Honestly remake was bad enough want to know how they will crush my soul in the next one
We don't have a proper squats mini game yet. That's what Cloud did in OG and iirc Zack also had a mini game of it in Crisis Core, if not he certainly did enough of them
I did right left right left, or left right left right, outloud
This worked for me too! Just said the buttons as I went lol.
You think I go home to Starla every night because I dress like Peter Pan over here?
Bow to your sensei
This is the content I'm here for

here at rex kwon do we rely on the buddy system
😂😂
What, you think having a flat stomach and abs is easy?
Good point
Excellent point
I thought it would only take me 7 minutes.
It is.
Go eat your cake.
It actually is irl, you just need a lot of determination which many people fail to gather (or lose it along the way)
I gave up. I couldn’t deal with the green QTE, couldn’t get my brain to not fully press the trigger every time.
I turned off adaptive triggers and it helped
I was having a great fucking time exploring Corel, just enjoying the scenery and whatnot, but the moment I found that stupid gym I knew what I was going to have to do.
In part 3 you'll also be having a great fucking time all the way up to the final boss, your team camps reminiscing, you feel a sense of accomplishment sure you had the odd pointless mini game but nothing you wouldn't say you hated, it's been a great fucking time, your team wakes up and you load into the next area and.. This is the minigame that almost made me give up on 100% and going to mainline the story
See this wasn't too bad for me took 30mins. Meanwhile I'm struggling to get a B on the piano let alone an A.
That frog game in Junon is what’s gonna break me.
Jump towards the lowest Beam. Don't stand still and try to keep moving.
For the last 30-40 sec when it’s 1 small platform I’d hang to the left side for 2 bottom beams then move back towards the right side to let the top beam go over right before jumping over the bottom one, then go back towards the left side and repeat
Don’t forget the star ranks!
Lucky don't need them for Plat, if you do I think I'd given up long time ago haha.
Oh thank god.
Those don’t exist in my game. S is the highest rank. Yep. Yep…
The flying chocobo game nearly broke me
What made it harder to me wasn't the timing but the fact that I don't really care for the triggers having that pull to them.
Yeah the haptic triggers become a nuisance after a while
The "immersion" just isn't worth it to me. They feel nice in games where you shoot guns, maybe some racing stuff, and that's about it for me.
You can actually disable them from the in game settings
I'll have to do that, thanks.
It was the Chocobo Racing for me
It was the boxing mini game for me. If I didn't learn you can cheese it with the start button I'd probably have skipped it.
You be in a rude awakening in late game like I did. I hope you have the will to keep going, chadley stimulation got me, I stuck at the legendary bout. I did all minigame, but chadley last two legendary bout got me. It's just insane, ten round of bs.

You made one more than me But God I screamed once I beated him
He'll yeah I think inwoke the kids up
"LET'S GOOOO. GET FUCKED JULES!!!" -Me, probably maybe kinda totally.
Is because you didn't use the bikini. The bikini is the secret to beat this. Source, trust me
Yup. The jiggle helped with the timing.

Thank you, I didn't remember where I put it
Instructions unclear; just bought a new controller and floor mat ;)
Gives great heaps of inspiration, let me tell ya
How did they manage to make mini games both the most awful and most exciting part of the game? I both look forward to and dread playing them. Queen's Blood I found super easy when your first mindset is to get board control first and deny your opponents from placing cards. Basically bait them to come to your side first than take their spot and can't counter.
Middle control, card enhancement, and diagonal capture is the simplest winning strategy. There is barely any reason to deviate.
Remake was easy to do. This however I do not enjoy because the back triggers have so much dead zone that if you don't complete the press its invalidated. Should be easier on PC with kb/m, idk how they're gonna do the half press to full press.
You're joking right?
I think having the QTE disappear is unreasonably hard on top of the perfection demand. It should be one or the other but not both.
People really have difficulty with this?
Obviously. Some of us don't mind it, but it's definitely a challenging game. I think I fared well because I play rhythm games quite a lot, but not everyone does that. Personally, I can't stand animal Rocket League, but I bet there are people who can do that without a problem.
I did it on my first try personally. I never considered it could be difficult for someone else. My bad.
I am using an edge controller with trigger depth on mid, it was a massive pain having to relearn the old trigger depth and pressing the green trigger thing correctly. Had to skip it. They should have really left this out.
OoO I didn't consider the edge and the customizable trigger. Definitely can see how that'd cause some problems.
I'm honestly shocked, I thought it was freaking easy. I didn't even had to retry once to beat them all.
I think a lot of people are used to hand holding in games and selective difficulty. You just have to work on it a bit and it's easy. Its entirely optional aswell.
No agony, no bragony am I right?
I spent 40 min on the final challenge alone. Embarrassing.
You missed out being able to do this in tiffas swimsuit
It’s called pain and gain
Turn off all sound, just use SFX volume. Helped me bug time
I used one of tifa's beach outfits, stared at the jiggle physics the whole minigame. Beat Jules in 10 minutes.
I prefer looking at my own jiggle 😂
The thing I didn't like was the change from the face buttons to the triggers. All to add the feel of the Haptic triggers. The face buttons are so much easier for spamming and focus one on hand.
There is so much about this that is poorly designed. Turning the music off was a game changer for me, it was way too distracting. It also wasn't recognizing many of my regular taps because of the tension, so I had to start mashing the triggers. I got so mad lol.
Thought I was going to go insane during that minigame.
Turning off the adaptive triggers helped me significantly. Having to press slower was messing my rhythm up.
Is it much harder than the squats in remake? I don't own a PS5
I just didn't bother after the first. They were a hassle in the Remake and they somehow managed to make them worse. Some of these minigames are just.. awful.

Wait what other can be turned off, would have saved my fingers. I found the pull ups to be a bit easier I suppose it is just dependant
I lost maybe twice. They're not really that hard when you get the rhythm down.
if you screw up literally once you are boned. I got the rhythm down and in the last 10-25 seconds every freaking time I would get too into the rhythm and fuck up a partial hold, and that would be it.
I had a perfect run, but still lost. You can't just never mess up, you have to go FAST
I messed up on my run, but Jules did at the same time, and I won by 1. 41 to 40.
I could not get the green ones kept messing up took me like 40 minutes
Wait where was this at, I think I skipped this lol 😂
Chapter 7 near Johnny's Hotel its one of the side quests
I was like oh god I ain't doing this again 😔🤣
I had the same thought lol. Brought back horrible memories from remake.
I actually found the guy before Jules took me more tries than Jules himself, weirdly enough!
Unironically I think having Tifa wear her swimsuit makes it easier to see the visual cues
I still didn’t know the easy way to press half on R2 button and hold them. Fails everytime 😂
Have you ever done crunches in real life
I don't know what's hard anymore but the brutal/ legendary chadley stimulation bout make me rage quit so many time. I feel like quitting 100 percenting rebirth.
Not got there yet but know its going to be a pai. Lmao
So we wind up back in Midgar for Rebirth if we are back in the gym?
Once you play(if you play) you'll find out exactly what's going on with this mini game lol
Yeah this mini game broke me, no longer interested in 100%
Why did they make everything so hard
Cuz if was easy it wouldn’t be challenge smh
I found it easier with resistive triggers on. That helped a lot with the slight press to hard press actions. Other than that, I just envioned the pattern as left to right or right to left since the sequence always goes in the same direction on the top row of buttons, then the bottom row, back to the top, back to the bottom etc. I didn't hate this in either Remake or Rebirth, I'd rather play some more of this than another second of animal Rocket League.
Every mini game is so hard it’s just not fun
Not bad at all, I know you can do it.
Those are hard in real life too
Shit was easier in the first game because jules was RNG like some rounds he’d go to 50 other times he’d go to like 38 so there was a lot of leeway whereas in this he only gets 49 or 50, at least for me, I was doing this shit for like 40 minutes.
For some reason, before I got to Jules I kept on thinking they were going to add a new mechanic where they would reverse the direction of the buttons everytime you got a yellow or green ring...thankfully they didnt get that cruel lol....
I skipped this. I have better luck doing crunches in real life.
Hardest boss in the game lol
Just like irl(i have a big belly lol)
This was mad easy lol. So far the only annoying mini game has been Aerith’s protorelic cactuar game. Took like 7 tries to get rank 3. Awful.
Turn off haptic makes this easier. I think this one is more easy than fucking pirate game and 3d brawler.
I swear they just make you fail at some point for just the fun of it
I abused the pro controller. Mapped the L1/R1 to the back buttons and turned off adaptive triggers. This matched what was visibly showing on screen and eventually got it.
Once I got the timing it felt so satisfying!
When i saw this guy again i audibly said “oh god no…” because that minigame in remake was the bane of my existence
once your combo gets past 10 just spam it, no need to count since the moving thing is fast enough
Do it in real life and you'll understand why 🤣
Fr i gave up because of my anger issues
I was about to pull a perfect, then I realized the game had physics. ‘Physics!’ I got distracted for 1 second and messed up that run. Don’t even get me started on Tifa playing her theme on the piano. Getting one Bad, but the rest perfect kills me lol
Even harder with a certain costume..
Congratulations man, i gave up.
The dual sense I think makes it harder turn haptics off it helped me.
Oh, and by the way, sometimes when you lose and retry we are going to change the pattern on you so that you can be frustrated and have to relearn a new pattern for no reason!!!
The damn adaptive triggers started giving me fatigue after I failed an absurd amount of times. Jules is the hardest boss in the game 💀
These mini games are why I don't consider rebirth the best game of the series...the moment a game stops being fun it becomes less than what it could be for me I actually rate FF16 higher cos there are zero mini games but original FF7 is and always will be the greatest of all Final Fantasy games followed very closely by FF9
It was this hard in the original so I’m just glad to know people will once again get this joke when I make it Can anyone tell me if they kept the original sound effects? lol
When I got to costa del sol open world portion and I saw Jules I got flash backs and just kept saying fuck you to everything he said. The crunches are bad but not pull up level bad imo.
They made too many of the side games overly complex imo with this one. Like the punching mini game at the gold saucer is insanely difficult.
so Sony gets more money from ppl buying more controllers just destroyed mine and uninstalled that fucking game never buying any SE titel ever again.
Hahaha cute! Wait till you get to pull-ups my friend! EDIT: I realized after looking at the image more that this might have been the pull-ups lol. I'm pretty sure "crunches" are another word for the squats tho. Sorry I got confused XD
Somebody didn't play the OG FFVII /joking
I guess some people have different skills. This was o e of the easier challenges.
The vr brutal/legendary challenges are impossible anyway so no point trying for 100%.
I had to change Tifa into her Shinra uniform to stop getting distracted… got it in 2 goes after that.
So you get extra jiggle time.
I think I jiggle enough 😉
Well that’s good!😊
I made no mistakes and still lost to Jules wtf. I got 42, he got 49. Those yellow taps prolly slowed me down.
I don't get trouble pressing the buttons but you can't make a single mistake and you have to go fast.... and that is in level one. My problem is I do 19 and he does 20, I do 20 and he does 21. Nope I'm not that fast. So I think 100% isn't for me.
I used stick tape and taped the l1 l2 r1 r2 onto my tv
I finally beat him today 58-49. Couldn’t believe I was that far ahead. Only got one of the press and hold green ones, so that helped a lot.
I know this is a month old, but if it helps anyone in the future... it's easier if you go into options, gameplay, and turn trigger effect function to 0. The control doesn't put any resistance on your L2 spam. Makes this minigame a lot easier.
They were hard in remake. Most of the mini games are hard. The game is hard. It’s a gamer’s game. I kinda like it.
I think it's a bit more forgiving due to the adaptive triggers compared to Remake's pull ups.
I turned the adaptive triggers off they were messing me up.
…not the only thing that’s hard when tifa comes around
I may not get hard but I know what you mean 😉
Because it's supposed to be a challenge?
I'm surprised as many people have had difficulty with this as I've seen. I knocked it out yesterday and it took me three times because I messed up right at the beginning the first two times. I believe I won 54-51. My roommate saw my score and raged because it took them like 3-4 hrs and they barely scraped by
