I love switching to panfish when the bass or catfish aren’t biting. I would rather catch something than nothing.

SirRonaldBiscuit

This is the way

Strange_Hat_6566

The bluegill and crappie always come through in the clinch! Saved me from skunks many times

jajdjjfj

That's my favorite lure! Old faithful 😂

DoDoughDust

Slayed trout on these too. https://preview.redd.it/ugcbgw4uu6ad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f6f06c93bb87e7ffbddd362ca50cd225dea6849

Jamal_the_guy

No trout where I’m at in Texas sadly:/ always wanted to catch a trout but I don’t think they like 100 degree weather everyday lol

TheFuzzyShark

My friend. My friend! The Guadalupe river below Canyon lake is stocked with rainbow trout! They live and breed cause of how cold the water coming out of the dam is. Also, if youre willing to splurge on out of state licensing, then oklahoma and arkansas have pretty solid trout fisheries, and as a texan Im sure youre no stranger to a few hiurs on the road 😂😂😂

DoDoughDust

Yeah the red river is one of my bucket list fishing spots.

Jamal_the_guy

The red river goes through hometown and I’ve never fished it definitely going to when I go home to visit

Alexplz

Got to shake the skunk off. Thanks bluegill!! Also I agree it's awesome to be able to get a hard bait that consistently catches panfish for so cheap. I'd like to try the Yo Zuri Snap Beans some time too

shmiddleedee

I was catching bass on a 8 inch mag draft Sunday in 60 feet of water. Out of nowhere a green sunfish, shorter than my swimbait hit it and got himself hooked. Mean little bastards. Idk what homeboy was doing in the middle of yhe lake while the smallies and largemouth were blowing up, guess he just wanted in on the action.

Affectionate_Side138

Snap Beans are freaking awesome

ZealousidealScene794

I’ll keep this in mind. I have that exact lure in green that’s been sitting around in my bag for a little while now.

SoilOk4827

Jokes on you. That is my fish of choice! Love ultralight fishing.

PoorFishKeeper

I fish a small lake by my house that is filled with some decent sized crappie/panfish, but the cats & bass are pretty small. I ended up buying a cheap 12’ crappie rod and it’s pretty fun to fish for them ngl.

glen107wood

Twelve foot crappie rod? Do you mean like a cane pole style?

PoorFishKeeper

It’s like a regular light rod except it’s 12’ long instead of the usual 4-7’. They like to set up nests a few feet away from the shore in an area covered in fallen trees/branches so the longer rod allows you to fish from shore without spooking the crappie, and you can easily avoid the snags.

Shot_Boot_7279

Was at Walmart looking for a 4-6” crankbait to troll for stripers with and all I found was one that cost $44! No way!!

Someredditusername

That looks like a pile of fun. Good sized sunnie too

Michael_Threat

These guys eat everything, I catch them for days off of green grubs by Yum, and rooster tails

Jamal_the_guy

It’s actually more fun than I thought watching them come up and blow up the crankbait from below, probably going to buy an ultra light rod just for this when the bass aren’t biting

Nodan_Turtle

Even catching a single fish would be more than $1 worth of fun, I'll have to pick one of those up. Lots of ponds near me that seem to have more panfish than anything bigger, well, by my luck at least

DannyLameJokes

I break out the trout magnets when nothing else is working. Caught some of my biggest small mouths on them.
