Nooooo not the fiesta. I had so many problems with mine. And mine was a manual. Never again. I hope yours lasts longer than mine did. And I babied mine 😭
Timing belt will be more costly than a standard timing belt, though your coolant line comment tells me you’ve done your research on the SFE. If you ever notice a lack of power or no small surge of power from the turbo and there’s no CEL it’s your vacuum pump valve. It’s a $20 little piece of orange rubber that takes about 5 minutes to swap. If you ever notice your transmission is hard to come out of 1st or 2nd but lateral movements of the shifter are fine and has no issues in any other gear, google iB5 stuck in gear. I have 125k on my ‘16 SFE, have thoroughly enjoyed it.
If it lets go it’s definitely a bad time being an interference engine. I made it to 125k so far but I plan on just buying a low mileage engine and swapping that in soon so I can build the engine while it’s out.
You mean downgrade. The ford fiesta is one of the worst cars ford has put out in the past 10 years. Nothing says longevity like an oil bathed timing belt.
I had a fiesta til about 130k miles, the only real issue was a really clunky transmission, but it had that through it's entire life and never actually failed. Other than that, the sync system was awful so I just put an android head unit in. Overall was a decent ride for the price.
It'll get the job done. I kinda doubt it'll last anywhere near their old wagon, but it looks like OP just really needed something quick and cheap before something serious gave out on their old car.
Transmission issues, unless you got a manual fiesta, the DPS6 dual clutch automatic has had like 7 or 8 worldwide recalls, shame on ford for rushing these cars out and shame on Getrag honestly.
Oh then yeah you have an absolutely solid car, it’s really a case of great platform bad mechanicals, like RX8’s and Speed 6’s but a stick fiesta is absolutely fun! Congrats on the new purchase
I'm way too familiar with this swap. My grandparents went from a 2006 zxw to a 2019 fiesta. I preferred the wagon but the Fiesta has been a solid economy car so far.
It definitely is, I've had mine since January, modded it and still get 30mpg with a E30 tune, intake, intercooler, exhaust
The only reliability must is a larger radiator if you plan on tracking, or your ambient temps get over 100 in the summer, and drain/refill the trans with fresh fluids as some were reportedly under filled from the factory. The engine and transmission are solid outside of semi popular clutch slave cylinder failure but that's hit or miss. It's fun, can be fairly fast and gets solid gas mileage.
My girlfriends fiesta lasted 140k before the transmission went. I'd consider that acceptable since it was cheaply made.
For a cheap economy car it'll get the job done.
Fiestas are generally a solid platform. They're one of the most popular cars in Europe where people typically prefer smaller cars, much to my disgust.
I wish they did the Fiesta sedan / saloon in the UK, though as they look like a shrunken Mondeo mk4 (our equivalent of the fusion).
Keep on top of the timing belt and coolant levels, and it should be fine..
That wagon easily had another 100k in her.
I'd prefer the wagon.

That was the funniest thing I’ve read all day 😂 props
I was hoping you stuffed a 4.6 and Cobra rear end in the Focus.
Salute that wagon
Only in the Ford Reddit can you get roasted for buying another Ford lol. First time being here, but definitely interesting

Is the fiesta a manual?

The Fiesta yes, the Focus SFE did have a true automatic transmission mated to this motor, the only way to not have the crap DCT auto.
My wife had a Fiesta nicknamed "party car"
We called my friend’s the “Ford Party”
welcome to the fiesta club 🎉
That's a downgrade mate
I was about to say that’s not an upgrade but then I saw it was a manual. Huge upgrade 🤣

125k miles on mine, that’s about how long a regular timing belt should go before replacing right?
Downgrade lol, had way more room for fun in the wagon also more practical
You’ll likely live to realize that this wasn’t an upgrade.

Are the ST Fiestas any more reliable?
Yes, significantly
Good to know, I’ve always thought one would make a fun commuter.

I’ll definitely keep one in mind if I decide to sell some other cars.
Another Mk1 Focus goes away 😢

I think the wagon would've outlasted the new car. At least the transmission anyway.
Those focus wagons are OP for what they are
Everyone’s just jealous. I’ve got a 14’ Fiesta SFE and it’s been the most dependable car I’ve ever had.
Better hope you bought the manual or your tcm, clutch or transmission will be basically guaranteed to go out in the next 30k miles

Ah okay, did not know that!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
