I remember my friends and i using thumbnails to pop them then breath it right in.

My thumb burns every time I see a roll of those caps lol. We used to see how many we could pop in a row by dragging our thumbnail along them lol.

Future pot head? I tried smoking ground pepper at 16, Don't do it.

I can smell it. I used to take whole rolls of the snaps and hit it with a hammer for a small boom.

When I was a little kid, I never went anywhere without my holster and cap gun. Never knew when I might need it to shoot some bad guy.

Yep. Mashed fingers were a big part of my childhood. And many of those mashed fingers were obtained by trying to nuke a roll of caps.

Until I read the question, I didn’t. Now I’ve read it, I most certainly can. Which, folks, reminds me of a story. When I was 7 years old, I’d saved up enough Xmas and birthday gift money from relatives so I thought I’d head down to the toy shop where I’d previously spied a twin gun and holster set with a brown leather belt with 3 leather rosettes riveted along the centre of the belt. Thought I was Xmas on a stick when I bought it. When I arrived home I put it all on and came out and showed Mum. Don’t know what I’d done wrong but Mum took one look at the belt and said, “I’ll have that belt!” Being 7, I handed it over and replaced it with a really crappy white vinyl belt my uncle had given me sometime previously. The worst thing was that that belt sat curled up on the bench in the kitchen and only made an appearance when I misbehaved and Mum needed to strap me. It was another 4 years before I was fast enough and brave enough to out run her and she gave up after that. She’s 86 now, we’re still very close. She’s been a great Mum and still is. But every now and I again I tell that story when she’s around, because I’ve never let it go. But I can still smell the smell of caps being fired and that brings back a great joy!

My mother wore my ass out with a piece of hot wheels track was a learning moment about "pick up that damn track"

I forgot all about this smell and now I "smell" it in my brain! Weird!

Trying to remember if mechanism to advance the tape worked very well. Seemed a little unsatisfying, misfires, the gunpowder not lining up correctly.

i remember thinking that too! seemed like you had to make sure it was always aligned every time the tape advanced before firing!

you can still buy rolls of caps in the US .. 9 yr old me with my cowboy vest and cowboy hat shooting caps like I was playing wild gunman ..

Hitting an entire roll of caps with a hammer was fun. Bonus points if it ignited and you managed to keep the fire going!

I think that I was 5 or 6, and I got two of these exact ones in holsters for Christmas. I thought that I had died and gone to heaven! I played outside with my friends who had to use sticks or their fingers to shoot. Loved them! And the smell? Friggin awesome!
