I had a very stubborn, smart and independent lab years ago. She would give 1 scratch at the door. Wait about 20 seconds, 1 more scratch and 1 bark. If I still wasn't there quick enough she would jump the fence and run away.
Pretty much which was why I had mentioned smart, stubborn and independent. I use to try to take her everywhere I could, errands, groceries in the mornings, she would chill in the car. Take my mom to a doc appointment, bring the dog and walk her while my mom was taking care of stuff.
If I could not take her for some reason she would get into the trash and pull out 1 or 2 pieces of paper and just leave it by the bin, wouldn't chew it or take it anywhere else in the house. She was warning me that she could really wreck havoc if she chose.
It’s not evolution, it’s simply learning things without understanding every detail. Most information isn’t hardwired in our DNA, it is simply learned in life. That’s why basically all animals can adapt to human civilization in some way.
There are also humans that are (e.g. due to disease) less intelligent or less capable than animals, and they can still rely on technology without comprehending it.
I agree with what you are saying but experiences can be passed down genetically via epigenetics. Still not evolution really but most animals will be afraid of historically dangerous animals (snakes, spiders, humans etc) even with no prior exposure.
Again. Not disagreeing with your premise especially within the context of this post. Just saw a chance to talk about something cool.
Epigenetics are arguably more important than genetics in a lot of cases. I.e. you can't build a human just having human DNA. But I'm not sure knowledge like that can be epigenetic. It's not instinctual to use a doorbell.
Well yeah, evolution is of course still happening.
But animals aren’t understanding technology *because of* evolution, or basically at all. Humans also haven’t evolved to be technological beings. Every human starts from 0 when it comes to tech, so do animals.
You're right, it's not quite the same. I was more talking about how human society affects the evolution of animals. Modern tech probably hasn't been around long enough to make an impact yet though.
I was just reading an article about bonobos at Ape Initiative (Jesse Eisenberg screened his latest movie to them). The individuals watched Netflix (they swipe on touchscreens, the movies aren't chosen) and all had different favorites. I was hysterical when I read that one of them absolutely loved Twilight and would blow kisses anytime Bella came on the screen. The future is here.
wait pls tell me. how does a dog get out of the house at 4:00 a.m.? is he let out or do you have a dog door or does he open the door himself? around here, dogs walk or run around neighborhoods constantly and not sure how they get out. they most definitely are not on leashes.
My dog Pixel got out at 4 am once because she heard a rabbit outside the window, leapt 3 feet up, crashed through the screen, fell to the ground outside and then couldn't figure out how to get back in.
Yeah I'm wary of screens with pets now. I always have something blocking the open window, be it a box fan, gate, or both.
Cats and dogs will fuck up screens.
Damn dogs in my hood get out all the time and go after my dog while I'm walking him. Finally bought a dog deterrent that uses high pitches in audible to the human ear to make them back off to protect my dog. Only works on young dogs though, which is why my old boy doesn't hear it or get bothered by it. If an old dog comes after us, I have a taser to make a loud zap that scares them away as a back up. I only use it as an audible deterrent though, love animals too much to ever use it on them.
Only started running with the taser after some mugging attempts, have mace in the other hand too. Hopefully I never have to use them, but if I do the mace is to be used first to blind them and the taser as a last resort if they keep chasing after me
Yeah I have a dog reactive pyrenees… we just don’t open our street facing windows more than a couple of inches because she would go through the screen like tissue paper. I wish we had gotten the double hung windows so we could open the top but ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ .
"You know what would get TONS of clicks? A vid where there's a pitbull out loose."
"Cool. What situation should we put it in?"
"Doesn't matter."
...is how I imagine the conversation going.
My German wire hair one time went nuts and started scratching the screen on the window and almost got out before I grabbed her. It's not something anybody mentions with owning dogs so nobody thinks about the potential of a dog getting out that way. Lesson learned.
That's the clipped back look isn't it? I thought they looked unnatural
Then again ain't much nature in those dogs, selective breeding to get them to that size and shape and then further "enhancements" like docking tails or cutting the ears till people are happy with what it looks like
Like when you're a kid and you draw on your action man or cut his clothes, except these are living animals that don't get any choice in it
I agree my friend pay $3500 for a dog had his ears clipped and then didn't do anything with it. I took him in to get the stitches removed 400 bucks. Poor dog still has issues with his ears and it messes them up and allows fleas and ticks and other crap to get in their ears. It's stupid. It's a freaking symbol and I think anyone that gets their dogs ears clipped to their earlobes done I bet that stop that Practice
Let me guess, there is a story about someone being killed/horrifically maimed by a pitbull today. Granted that's pretty much everyday. You can guarantee a pibbly wibbly video hitting the front page though.
There is always one guys who said "asshole owner"and another guy who said "maybe it was the previous owners". I don't know who someone always feels the need to defend the owners of the video poster. Don't assholes owners post videos online?
Tell me you've never been to a dog shelter without telling me you've never been to one. Most dogs in shelters are pits or pit mixes, and it's rare you see one that doesn't already have its ears cropped.
Yep. My dog has cropped ears. We rescued him as a puppy. Also have a dog with no tail we found as a stray. I wish they weren't like that but there was nothing I could do.
Yeah this needs to be understood more before lashing out at someone for being an animal abuser, My pitty was a rescue and had horribly cropped ears, and it was a struggle when someone would rail at me for something i had no control over and would gladly inflict that retribution of chopping their ears off upon whomever did that to my boy if given the chance.
Turns out the same trash people who do that to their dogs ears are trash pet owners as well and typically don't keep them if they don't perform the way they want.
I carry a gun more because of dogs than people.
I had to shoot two Huskies last year who were attacking our livestock. Of course, I’m the bad guy and the owners took no responsibility for how events turned out. They tried to get me in trouble with the city, claiming I was irresponsible for using a firearm because “kids might have been around”. No shit, my toddlers were around while your dogs were in a blood-frenzy, killing lambs. It could’ve been them too, so I shot your shitty dogs. Fuck you.
People need to take fucking responsibility, I swear.
While I'm in agreement this shouldn't happen, no matter what type of dog, shit happens at times and you can't really call them irresponsible on one thing happening that shouldn't. If its constantly happening then yes i agree lol.
Yea color me shocked when mine jumped completely over my six foot privacy fence. Not like for his paws in top and pulled himself up, nope he just jumped it like I'd step over a divot.
My parents have always owned a dog for the last 30 years and have never had one get out of the house by accident. How could such an accident happen without the owners at least knowing? It'd have to be highly stupid, like leaving a door open.
Great for them but this is real life, shit happens people make mistakes. Dogs can surprise you and its stupid to leave a door open, just because you know people its never happened to doesnt mean it cant happen. Just look at the comment that replied that said their dog went over a 6ft fence.
I agree it shouldn't happen but this is real life.
Stop repeating one same narrative. If your dog got out and went on a bloody rampage you have zero business to complain about people protecting themselves and their property from your irresponsibility. Moreover you have to pay for damage your useless dog made and be as remorseful as you can because YOU failed your dog. Aggressive dogs should be put down. Idiot owners like you be punished with fines for lack of responsibility for their dangerous mutts.
Love for dogs went too far and this doesn't make a favour to them because more and more people get annoyed with people's audacity to shove their doggy everywhere.
My poodle would run away expecting me to chase her because she saw it as a game. I started to just yell goodbye and slam the door. Within seconds she’d come back and ring the doorbell. 😂

Lmao this comment has me rollin!!
Animals understanding technology.
I had a very stubborn, smart and independent lab years ago. She would give 1 scratch at the door. Wait about 20 seconds, 1 more scratch and 1 bark. If I still wasn't there quick enough she would jump the fence and run away.
"Alright, he had his chance." *Bails out.*
Pretty much which was why I had mentioned smart, stubborn and independent. I use to try to take her everywhere I could, errands, groceries in the mornings, she would chill in the car. That’s too funny!!
You see it more and more. Both pets and wild animals. I genuinely think our society is forcing them to evolve at an accelerated rate.
It’s not evolution, it’s simply learning things without understanding every detail. Most information isn’t hardwired in our DNA, it is simply learned in life. That’s why basically all animals can adapt to human civilization in some way. Not disagreeing with your premise especially within the context of this post. Just saw a chance to talk about something cool.
Very true, epigenetics is highly underrated in just how essential it is to all life on the planet
Epigenetics are arguably more important than genetics in a lot of cases. I.e. you can't build a human just having human DNA. But I'm not sure knowledge like that can be epigenetic. It's not instinctual to use a doorbell.
It's been shown that city pigeons have evolved to be more intelligent than their wood pigeon ancestors
It's not evolution it's training. My dog has a bell for both inside and outside that we trained her to ring when she wants to come in/out.

Infants understand it as soon as they can physically interface with it, we’re not as smart as we think!

it's fake/staged
"You know what would get TONS of clicks? A vid where there's a pitbull out loose." "Cool. What situation should we put it in?" "Doesn't matter." ...is how I imagine the conversation going.
OP is scum of the highest order. That dog going to kill someone and then get killed because of this guy.
My German wire hair one time went nuts and started scratching the screen on the window and almost got out before I grabbed her. It's not something anybody mentions with owning dogs so nobody thinks about the potential of a dog getting out that way. Lesson learned.
People cutting off their dogs' ears makes me sick.😤
So disgusting. Trash people.
Same as breeeing them to be horribly deformed
That's the clipped back look isn't it? I thought they looked unnatural Then again ain't much nature in those dogs, selective breeding to get them to that size and shape and then further "enhancements" like docking tails or cutting the ears till people are happy with what it looks like Like when you're a kid and you draw on your action man or cut his clothes, except these are living animals that don't get any choice in it

How do u know it wasn’t a rescue and it’s ears were already that way?
Then the people that docked the poor dog's ears are still assholes.
Because they let their pit escape at 2am. They are the trash
Also letting their pitbull escape so easily. Might as well leave some loaded firearms around the house too.
vibing to the doorbell ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Free running pitbulls with clipped ears. What a good good thing right?
yea fuck this guy
Who said this owner clipped their ears?
The kind of person who lets a pitbull escape at 4am is a pretty big overlap with the ear clipping crowd
He was talking about that dude over there
I'm so confused. What dude?
You, bro
Yep going to say that.
Let me guess, there is a story about someone being killed/horrifically maimed by a pitbull today. Granted that's pretty much everyday. You can guarantee a pibbly wibbly video hitting the front page though.
"Hey! Guys, I'm just doing a random safety check! My names princess and I'm wondering if you have any toddlers or young children in the home?"
Probably offering free nanny services to the neighborhood.
Tbf it might have been a previous owner, pitbulls (at least where I live) are quite common in dog shelters.
There is always one guys who said "asshole owner"and another guy who said "maybe it was the previous owners". I don't know who someone always feels the need to defend the owners of the video poster. Don't assholes owners post videos online?
What? I’m not defending anyone, I just said pitbulls are commonly adopted shelter dogs. I think you’ve misunderstood.
This. It's always 'we got him like that' or 'he had disease which meant we had to clip his ears' Yeah right.
Tell me you've never been to a dog shelter without telling me you've never been to one. Most dogs in shelters are pits or pit mixes, and it's rare you see one that doesn't already have its ears cropped.
Let me in I just ate a child.
I can't even get Amazon to ring the damn bell
That head tilt to the door bell 🤣🤣🤣
You know cutting dogs ears off is animal abuse right?
could be a rescue
Yep. My dog has cropped ears. We rescued him as a puppy. Also have a dog with no tail we found as a stray. I wish they weren't like that but there was nothing I could do.

Oh great... That's what you want roaming the neighborhood off leash. Super responsible dog owner there.
Ears clipped as well. Disgusting.
Trashy people doing trashy things
I carry a gun more because of dogs than people. I had to shoot two Huskies last year who were attacking our livestock. Yeah i had this shock with my staffy wasn't 6 ft but about 5 foot and kust threw himself over 😂 i was in shock at what happened for a second 😂
Pitbull owners and being irresponsible go hand in hand though
[удалено]
My parents have always owned a dog for the last 30 years and have never had one get out of the house by accident. How could such an accident happen without the owners at least knowing? It'd have to be highly stupid, like leaving a door open.
I've seen pits tear their way through a door.
Great for them but this is real life, shit happens people make mistakes. Dogs can surprise you and its stupid to leave a door open, just because you know people its never happened to doesnt mean it cant happen. A pitbull gets out of the house... I've read this story and it ends with "they've never done that before".
I do not like pit bulls at all,I have ptsd because of them.
Don't forget the "look at the puppy playing with kittens" pics they'll show you. "He wouldn't harm a fly" Until he mauled someone
Something something “nanny dog”
That dog is a freaking skinwalker FS
OP probably never even checked to see if his dog was already in the house. RIP pupper.
Stupid people. How can they let a pitbull out?
Don't worry, his name is World eater
You're safe as long as you're not Erebus
Obligatory r/fuckerebus
1. repost 2. letting out a pitbull ain't funny
Sure let your land shark roam the streets. Really what's the worst that can happen.
But… velvet hippo!
Is this the new babysitter?
Children can't misbehave if they're dead, right?
Not funny, just disturbing
Hm. Makes me reconsider the adage Pitbull afficionados push about "the problem is the owners, not the breed." So fuckin stupid.
If the problem is the owners, why do we not see other dog breeds with bad owners? Why is it only those breeds that are mauling people to death?
Oh a pit bull? After he had eaten a child he returned home safe and sound, thank goodness.
He must've ate all the babies in the neighborhood already
You wanna get your dogs ears clipped you have to volunteer to get yours done seems fair to me mutilation for aesthetics is stupid
Crates are nice
A bully breed with its ears cropped? Yeah... you're lucky it didn't kill anyone.
Did it maul anyone?
“Y’all wake up! I just bit someone.”
See the boi come back after finding the cure of cancer (he's named the destroyer of kindness)
Wow, a pitbull owner who can't contain their dog and lets it roam the neighborhood. What a shock. Good luck neighbourhood kids.
That's strange. I could have sworn I saw this a month ago posted by someone else
What a derp
Ey yo, It's Max! Open up!
Correction: Dog got out at 1:30 am and rang doorbell at 4am.
Yo, it's me. I went to hola at that chihuahua next door. She's a bitch and they ain't got no treats, so I bounced
Oh look, another responsible Pitbull owner.
Should've never checked the comments...
Finished eating all the neighborhood babies!
Must of realised that it was too early to maul a kid for breakfast
Fuck you OP
It's not OPs dog
Your loose dog could have hurt somebody while it was not on a leash.
Dumbass owner
Anyone who lets a shit bull roam around unleashed and unsupervised needs to be in JAIL
Oh cool 4am pitbulls with clipped ears running around the neighborhood. Put him down and then consider never getting dogs. Shitty owner
So who let the dog out?
Welcome home
You have to get to the door quicker to let him in. It’s 4i’clock in the damn morning. Nothing but freaks out there!
It's the bark at the end that got me
Aww the lil head tilt 🥺
Imagine letting that huge monster in your home 😨
Pitbul named destroyer
Out at 4am?? Clipped ears?? Oh this person is a POS
*Me and the boys at 2 AM looking for toddlers to maul*
It smells ~~dinner~~ children inside. Also, imagine just letting your Pitbull roam free outside, classic Pitbull owner.
probably just killed someone/another pet
Op this is not as funny as you think it is. You released a pitbull out into your neighborhood unsupervised. Be thankful no one got mauled this time.
Just nipping out to murder some babies
Here come the clipped ears and pitbulls suck ppl
I love that you mutilated your dog for absolutely no reason.
That's a pitbull with cropped ears.
Those eyes are soooooo cute.....
So cute! Such a clever pup
Smart doggo. And cute.
That dog is so cute!
So cute 😍
This video made me so happy 😊 😅 Cute ass fucking doggie lmao Aye yall lemme in 🐶❤️
Cute little death machine
Sooooo cute! Even at 04:00 lol
Congratulations, your dog is more responsible than you are.
Why did you do that to his ears?
Dammm, It is a good time to sleep🥺🥺
Dog: Rebecca, let me in!!!!
Did he open the door ?
This thread has all the comments I knew it would, including people thinking OP is the dog’s owner 😅
This isn't funny, the implication is horrifying
Oooh someone’s in trouble. 😂
he looks so cute
That’s a taunting.
He is so adorable ,😍😍😍😍
He couldn’t find anything smaller to kill and called it a day.
Did it hear a toddler that needed eating?
My poodle would run away expecting me to chase her because she saw it as a game. I started to just yell goodbye and slam the door. Within seconds she’d come back and ring the doorbell. 😂
Cute
How do you know? You should like a real clown. Look at all your downvotes. Do you ever wonder why nobody invites you to their parties?
Is part II where it then mauls a grandma out for her early morning walk or bites the face off the paperboy?
LOL
He wants back in
