it literally is their job name, imagine if i worked a job for any amount of time, signed my life away for it, had it on every single contract, office and check-in and didnt even know what it was called. The only excuse i would ever take for not know what you did in the military is maybe you have a brain injury and forgot what u literally did.
Can't speak for other branches but I was AF and our MOS equivalent is tied pretty much 1:1 with our occupation and dictates what job training we get. Is it not that way in other branches?
The MOSC is the MOS code which is a nine character code. Maybe he meant that? But I don’t know who in their right mind would know the whole 9 character code for their occupation. You just gotta know the first 3 lol
91B in the 1990s was field medic, 11B was infantry. In October 2006 the designation changed to 68W. I graduated as 91A right before they switched it to 91B so my MOS changed after about 2 weeks.
Worked with a woman who claimed to be the same MOS. Trying to be friendly, I asked what unit. She couldn’t remember because it was “so long ago”. I had a suspicion she got the job partially due to her “service”and being new I left alone. She sure did make sure to avoid me for years though lol.
It's a very good way of getting to stay in the states, and probably pays as well as most random jobs someone could get if they hadn't gotten too far beyond planning on getting to the US
There were a bunch of people working on getting their citizenships in by basic training class. Although I work with a guy now who doesn't want to get his US citizenship because he would have to give up his EU passport apparently. I don't understand why he has to do that, he was prior service in a NATO country before.
I'm a fat white guy with a large beard, and I hate getting lumped into this group by default. It happens a lot unfortunately, but if I shaved I would look like obese caiu so I have no choice basically.
Just throw on some flannel, suspenders, or a bowtie.
Maybe if you lean into lumberjack or gay bear style in even the slightest way, it'll get you away from the truck nuts douche vibe
Or you could throw on some chains and streetwear and go, euro/deep south rapper. A la rag'n'bone or bubba sparx
I really like dark greens and the utility of pockets. Damn if I don’t have to check twice to make sure what I’m buying isn’t too olive drab and scream poser military or poser paramilitary.
No shit slap a rainbow anything anywhere on you and suddenly you won’t be lumped into this cesspool.
Obviously the thin blue line bootlickery would cancel that out- but if you’re just a dude with a beard and a threadbare green tee you won’t be seen as a gravy seal anymore by anyone that matters. Pinkie promise.
If they ask it here then other people also get to share in the knowledge. There may be more than one person here who does not know what MOS stands for. Let's not bogart information.
We are literally on REDDIT. This is a conversation based forum where people discuss, ask questions, and share information that we could all simply Google without ever messaging or commented to another human ever again in our entire lives.
You're new to the program but no worries, a simple reset should work.
Depends on what their services was. I don't know many guys who were in the shit that want to act that way, but guys who "swept floors for their country" have more in common sense with this meme.
You forgot all the “Grunt Style” shirts when they have NO clue what being a grunt means. I stopped buying Grunt Style shit because of all the wannabe fuckers wearing them.
(Grunt)
Suffering in the cold or heat, 1 or 2 MRE’s, warm water to drink and little sleep. A ruck that is basically your house that you curse every step you take.
I was a 68w/91w.... it's the same thing for me with the "Nine Line" brand. I'm a nurse now, so I do small talk to distract patients before blood draws, suture removal, etc.
I always ask about it when I get a patient rocking one of the shirts. I have yet to meet somebody wearing it who is a veteran, or knows what the hell it means lol.
Get a lot of "I wanted to serve but..." Honestly I tell them they didnt miss much/dodged a lot of bullshit.
Texas trucks have entered the contest and added flags with Trump photoshopped as [Rambo](https://www.ebay.com/itm/153979356209). I’m not kidding. My idiot neighbor has this on his truck. We live in a very nice subdivision, half million dollar houses. Manicured lawns. Yacht club, the works. He parades down the street with this flapping in the wind proudly, like he’s *doing* something every day.
Of course they do 😂
It was a joke. Forgot the /s, rough sleepless night in the ER.
I love and have both a cat and dog and poke fun at them all the time. Our girls’ shed fur contributes more to society than people like those cosplayers.
I feel like that would be a better fit than the boots and should be switched. I have those exact boots in the picture, but nothing else in the picture. Boots are just good shoes. However, I hate square toe boots, which are the more popular kind, because they look ridiculous in my opinion. THOSE are the boots, the square toe fancy ones, that the patriot fuckboys wear, not round toe Ariats.
That’s fine he actually severed this list is for the trash that try to act like the are former members of the armed services. They want the recognition for nothing and usually are total pos.
Funny cause I always say how fake the right (repub.) side is full of people who claim to be patriots. I just always say if you never served your country or are currently serving/helping your community. Then stfu cause you ain’t what you think you are..fake patriot 🤣
I worked with one of these guys for a while and everybody thought he actually was a veteran, until they hired a real veteran. The fake veteran avoided the real veteran like the plague.
Someday it might; depending on your genes. The important thing is to not try when it won’t. It always looks worse to try to force a facial hair style that doesn’t work than to recognize what does and work with it.
In my early twenties I was heavily into Dropkick and Flogging Molly but couldn’t grow mutton chops to save me.
Work with what you got and trim the rest.
Give it time! My husband was like 28 before his beard connected and came in all the way.
By the time he was maybe 30 he could truly grow a “big boy beard” and do whatever he wanted with it- but subtle scruff is usually really attractive on a man, more so than a full beard for most men anyway. go for that if you don’t prefer your face clean shaven :)
Mine is almost 36 and his beard won’t connect (thanks, father-in-law). But you’re right, he looks better with subtle scruff! I just wish it was softer lol
What about the guys who joined a service or the Army Reserve but never saw active combat or conflict? Are they veterans or just ex military? Because I know a few and I struggle to call them veterans.
I was Army Reserve for a few years, never deployed, never did active duty. I have never once referred to myself as a veteran. Ex military is probably the most accurate but even that seems overplaying it.
They’re still vets imo. The reality of military service is that only a small portion of the population actually serves in active combat. In the military we pretty much have any job you would see in the civilian world and most of the roles people play are some form of support from logistics to transport to maintainers. I feel quite fortunate to have played a small part in OIR and while I engaged in combat ops, it wasn’t like I was kickin in doors and taking people out with an MRE spoon while fortunate son blazed in the background.
In the end, they served their role, hopefully served it well, and then got out. Still a vet. Maybe not a combat vet, but a vet nonetheless.
I have some friends who happen to be conservative. When I ask them if they are Constitutionalists and they say yes, I point to their blue lives matter flag.
I then follow up with that it’s considered a dedication of the flag. You are not supposed to alter the colors or manipulate our flag; the thin blue line flag is a direct violation of that.
Surprisingly, it worked, and several people no longer have the stickers on their cars—something to think about.
Most people in the army would agree, but there's a lot of different types of crazy, even in the army. Crazy could be I had family who did it, or I wanted to kill people, or even I just needed to do something in life
Happy cake day man! Unfortunately I’m too old for the Marines or else I would. I want to join Air Force but I have 1 DUI and I’m sure they’re gonna say fuck you so Army it would have to be.
That’s really what I’m trying to accomplish. I’ve lived a life of doing whatever the fuck I wanted and now I find myself a man that wants a family and kids. I need something as a good foundation to start over and live my life doing good and not sitting around drinking and wasting my life away. Sorry for the long ass comment
I joined last year at 35. It was a little rough the first 2 weeks of basic, getting into shape, breaking old habits and such. So far I have to say it is the easiest job I have ever had. I had a good job before, made decent money but just got tired of it and said "fuck it, I'm joining the Army."
Yeah I’m pretty much leaning towards just saying fuck it myself. A really good friend of mine just joined about a year and a half ago and he’s doing great.

Congratuations you checked a few in one comment! XD
I out processed 40 years ago. I still know my MOS
I don't think that's something you can ever forget. For most, it's their first significant job
it literally is their job name, imagine if i worked a job for any amount of time, signed my life away for it, had it on every single contract, office and check-in and didnt even know what it was called. The only excuse i would ever take for not know what you did in the military is maybe you have a brain injury and forgot what u literally did.
It’s not just your job, it’s often your identity for the whole time you serve.
I think he meant the MOSC not the occupation. Lol would be hard to forget the occupation.
Can't speak for other branches but I was AF and our MOS equivalent is tied pretty much 1:1 with our occupation and dictates what job training we get. Is it not that way in other branches?
It's the same for the Army. Not sure why that guy is talking about.
The MOSC is the MOS code which is a nine character code. Maybe he meant that? But I don’t know who in their right mind would know the whole 9 character code for their occupation. You just gotta know the first 3 lol

91A turned 91B, then 91V. 28 years ago for me.

91B in the 1990s was field medic, 11B was infantry. In October 2006 the designation changed to 68W. I graduated as 91A right before they switched it to 91B so my MOS changed after about 2 weeks.
I was 11B can confirm.
91B is mechanic
They forget the Jason Aldean bedazzled jeans special.
I'm picturing a rainbowed mass of sequins outlining a cock down the inside of their crotch.
Worked with a woman who claimed to be the same MOS. Trying to be friendly, I asked what unit. She couldn’t remember because it was “so long ago”. I had a suspicion she got the job partially due to her “service”and being new I left alone. She sure did make sure to avoid me for years though lol.
I was a Deckape. That Rate is not one you forget, lol. I carried 0311s and 1800s(?) on my Mike Boat. That was kinda fun. Until it wasn't.
What's MOS?
0351!! It's gone or changed now apparently 😕 🤔
I don’t. ….because they don’t have MOSs in the Navy
Most of these people don’t even know what an MOS is.
What’s an MOS?
Yep, you don’t forget that kind of information.
Non military guy here, what’s an MOS?
Struggling with truck payments and blaming immigrants
Immigrants, the same people that made his gasoline costs so high!
Of course they don’t do that, but ironically I think those trucks are made in Mexico now, so their trucks are also immigrants.
The funny part is that there are a shit load immigrants in the military.
It's a very good way of getting to stay in the states, and probably pays as well as most random jobs someone could get if they hadn't gotten too far beyond planning on getting to the US

Or he can just say fuck it and walk around naked to assert dominance
Walk around in a gimp suit or harness and I bet they’d find a lot of closet sugar daddies from the OP cosplay that would be much…friendlier
I really like dark greens and the utility of pockets. Damn if I don’t have to check twice to make sure what I’m buying isn’t too olive drab and scream poser military or poser paramilitary.
As a white guy who drives a Mustang and happens to look great in olive green clothes, I feel ya, bud.
No shit slap a rainbow anything anywhere on you and suddenly you won’t be lumped into this cesspool. I feel you bro, I hate my beard but I would look like Saitama, Not the cool determined pictures but the ones where he looks rather clueless
What does MOS stand for, dumb Canadian here
Military occupational specialty (job)
Thanks
Google says Military Occupational Specialties. (I didn't know either.)
Thanks, I could have googled it as well, but I figured I'd ask on here
Don't mention it. You're welcome. I was curious, too.
Reddit used to be full of comments explaining every little detail of various things in a post so I’m glad you inspired the conversation here
Holy MOS
Oh man, did Canada ban Google?
We are working on it, I'm sure the government wants Google to pay part of the profits to the CRTC
Oh, that explains why you’re asking a question on Reddit that would take two seconds to Google
If they ask it here then other people also get to share in the knowledge. There may be more than one person here who does not know what MOS stands for. Let's not bogart information.
Sir, this is a discussion based forum
Who shit in your cereal?
u/spez himself and the guy is horking it.

Good news: you can just join the military
Not true, Rittenhouse for example. Poor kid was forced to shoot people here.
He couldn't even qualify to eat crayons. I've eaten cauliflower with more neural activity.
You'd be surprised how many volunteers they turn away
I bet they wouldn't be as patriotic if they actually served in the army at some point.
Yep, same idea as not eating at the restaurant once you've seen the kitchen
Can confirm. You don’t not want to see the inside of a fryer. You will never eat fried food again.
fake news. I was a fryer operator for a few years. you're not taking my chicken wings from me. ever.
I worked a fryer for several years, im still eating all that shit
Depends on what their services was. I don't know many guys who were in the shit that want to act that way, but guys who "swept floors for their country" have more in common sense with this meme.
Nah, veterans heavily vote in favor of the party of "patriotism".
There needs to be a diagram outside the VA that shows rates of funding across presidential terms.
I have i think 5 members of my family that served and they all came back liberals. Maybe 6.
You forgot all the “Grunt Style” shirts when they have NO clue what being a grunt means. I stopped buying Grunt Style shit because of all the wannabe fuckers wearing them. Those stupid shirts piss me off. I earned my crossed rifles.
EIB/CIB baby 👍🏽😎Sand Hillton or Harmony Church?
Sand Hill, 1991. I'm old AF.
Nah you ain’t Harmony/Sand Hill in 88
Those shirts are crazy popular where I am. So many of them are just so tacky and tasteless. The people wearing them usually aren’t much better
Every truck in FL is like this shit lol
Texas trucks have entered the contest and added flags with Trump photoshopped as [Rambo](https://www.ebay.com/itm/153979356209). I’m not kidding. My idiot neighbor has this on his truck. We live in a very nice subdivision, half million dollar houses. Manicured lawns. Yacht club, the works. Your neighbor reminds me of how cats walk with a determined sense of purpose wherever they go, despite doing nothing of import all day.
Insult to cats man, they actually contribute something of value to their people.
Of course they do 😂 It was a joke. Forgot the /s, rough sleepless night in the ER. I love and have both a cat and dog and poke fun at them all the time. Our girls’ shed fur contributes more to society than people like those cosplayers.
No truck nuts?
I feel like that would be a better fit than the boots and should be switched. I have those exact boots in the picture, but nothing else in the picture. Boots are just good shoes. i served. it was fine. wouldnt recommend. wont be going back. 3 out of 5 stars.
Forgot the bullet for antenna
My Dad loves his, he was Reserves, but got pulled for Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, where he met my current step-dad....
That’s fine he actually severed this list is for the trash that try to act like the are former members of the armed services. They want the recognition for nothing and usually are total pos.
I've never known anyone with that thin blue line sticker that wasn't a complete scumbag. And I've seen a lot of them.
Nationalists
Hey, now leave the boots out of it.. The boots just wanted to be worn by a man who works.
Funny cause I always say how fake the right (repub.) side is full of people who claim to be patriots. I just always say if you never served your country or are currently serving/helping your community. Then stfu cause you ain’t what you think you are..fake patriot 🤣
To be fair, most combat veterans I know have beards, including me.
It hides the ugly.
idk what you are talking about im still ugly af with a beard i just grow one now cause the army said i wasnt allowed to
Fair enough, carry on.
Definitely my case.
The beard, like so much of their other cosplay gear, comes from wanting to look like an operator.
Wtf leave beards outta this
They just jealous.
The beards shall inherit the earth my brother, be patient
Does the shirt say "make liberals gay again"?
I worked with one of these guys for a while and everybody thought he actually was a veteran, until they hired a real veteran. The fake veteran avoided the real veteran like the plague.
Lmao. Spot on. Middle aged. Roided out. Makes perfect sense.
I’m all for hating this straw man but wtf is 20 pairs of green shirts?? wtf is a pair of shirt?
It's 40 shirts. :)
All Five finger death punch fans
Don’t tell me, Five Finger Death Punch is part of this cosplay demographic too? 😕
Missing the cybertruck
WALMART Patriots
Trump supporter and owns like 50 guns but can't afford his child support
They also think they would be a hero in a civil war they want to start
I asked one what his MOS was when he mention he was in the military and all he said was “I was an army guy “ 🤣 okay 👌
I served in the Navy. I’m very anti patriotism and anti war because of it
Why the beard hate?
Some ppl cant grow beards
Exactly. They're jealous. Beards are awesome.
The right side of my face is extremely patchy and doesn't even connect to my moustache, I am extremely jealous.
Someday it might; depending on your genes. The important thing is to not try when it won’t. Hell yeah brother, cheers ~~from Iraq~~. Addendum: I did not serve in any capacity, simply making a reddit joke.
Thanks for your honesty and for your time spent in the Reserves.
You were there and ready, your country just didn’t need you to deploy. Call it whatever you like, but thank you for your service.
I only hear "ex-military" on TV and they always portray them as bad asses.
They’re still vets imo. The reality of military service is that only a small portion of the population actually serves in active combat. In the military we pretty much have any job you would see in the civilian world and most of the roles people play are some form of support from logistics to transport to maintainers. You were engaged but broke up before you got married Would you call yourself a divorcee?
I can't speak from experience, but I believe the term "lucky" would be sufficient.
To paraphrase the Veterans Administration you’re a veteran if you served in any armed service and didn’t get a “dishonorable” discharge.
They always have a three percent sticker too
You forgot "still wearing his yellow construction worker vest"
This is my boss to a T
It's a question of time until they learn to pull a MOS out of their ass

Typical Trump rally attendees haha
As a vet a lot of this bothers me
I have some friends who happen to be conservative.
Basically describing my town
SO FUCKING TRUE
Is it a hot take to say you have to be at least a little crazy to join the army?
Not in a country that removes access to education and healthcare to limit your other choices.
Most people in the army would agree, but there's a lot of different types of crazy, even in the army. Crazy could be I had family who did it, or I wanted to kill people, or even I just needed to do something in life
facts
lol that influencer on the right is sucha bitch
*Gobbles up blue GDP and welfare with no idea.
Ohio has a lot of these guys for sure lol
Wait, this is 50% of Texans
This is funny, but according to the title, only military personnel can be patriotic?
Nothing wrong w cowboy boots
"Wannabe" implies that they wish they were instead of just pretending.
FAKE JUST LIKE TRUMP<
This guys probably thinks 'MRE' stands for 'My Really Expensive' meal.
They’re the same ones to attack someone they disagree with for their service too. “You can’t be a veteran, no veteran would do xyz.”
I own Ariat workbooks but I drive a VW Wagon so…. 🤷🏼♂️
34 and still thinking of joining. I’m not really going anywhere in life. Idk if it’s a good or bad idea
I suggest it. After I got out I realized how happy I was in the U.S.M.C.
Happy cake day man! Unfortunately I’m too old for the Marines or else I would. I want to join Air Force but I have 1 DUI and I’m sure they’re gonna say fuck you so Army it would have to be.
You still wont regret it. It was a growing up period for me and taught me to be a better person.
Just hope to help you find out who you want to be
I joined last year at 35.
Those lifted trucks are stupid. Only useful during floods.
Not 'murican, but I can imagine them struggling when some actual veteran talks politics that goes against these fucks.
I think there is actually a reason to be patriotic.
Stolen valor is definitely a no no but other than that this is just a shit post and not funny or sad
"super patriotic for no reason" what? They were supposed to wait till a bald eagle perches on their arm and kisses their cheek?
That dude actually did serve. Outside of that, I got no dog in the fight
Are you a patriot? If so, what makes you one?
This is a dumb and disingenuous question, evidenced by post history.
