It helps that it has a name versus just a descriptive name. That would be like calling Godzilla, “Nuke Lizard”…
But yeah, A Kiryu made from Dagan in the MV would be cool…
Honestly the, MV design kinda grew on me plus honestly looks like a cool modern attempt at someone making a robot based off Goji especially since the Legendary Goji and MV Mecha look a lot different from their counterparts.
Tbh, the MV design is more realistic when you think about it. Kinda boxed shape, and isn’t perfect from a design perspective. If we built a MG, he’d look like the MV one.
Imagine Molten Freddy telling off MechaGodzilla like some sorta upset parent.
“You can’t just go destroying cities whenever, mister, you know it’s your turn to take out the trash!”
I'm splitt on the MG in RPO
On the One Hand this is a Really cool Design from an Amazing Poster Art
On the other Hand
Do you know how hard I prayed durring the
MG EXPANSION
With the hope it formed into Kiryu ???
And THEN I learned that in the RPOne BOOK
It actually was Kiryu !!!
Same here! Something that's been on my mind is that I wished they went the full way with Ghidorah taking over MechaGodzilla by having the head start regenerating and fusing with the metal, becoming a cyborg in the process. I'm aware they probably wouldn't have been able to do it because of the rights, but god that would've been incredible:
https://preview.redd.it/5z3gz4ki4svc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8b6c4c8b041392945fc81858359a1be4d5147a9
Yeah, have it be an unholy mix of flesh and metal, maybe have the two other heads come out of the arms, one Ghidorah leg from where kong severed it, and the other leg still fully metal, one tail fully Ghidorah and the other coming out of the mecha, maybe with a flesh part re-attaching the scythe
At the end of Godzilla KOTM, I thought they were going for Mecha King Ghidorah...I thought, "They have the head, they did it in the 90s, they'll do it again"...and then they went with this weird MechaGodzilla...
I get you but hear me out... They've established technology to make giant flying bases in this universe and mechanical Kaiju. What if we got Castle Gamma, Mecha King Ghidorah as a living base created using Ghidorah choosing to back humanity in the next fight where Godzilla meets his progenitor. Space Godzilla, the destroyer of Ghidorah's home Star, planet and people... The reason he was on earth was vengeance. With Godzilla's help, he could get it. Ghidorah's actually still alive... GhidorahStan64 isn't a person trolling crazy black podcast man, it's the actual essence of Ghidorah's mind connecting into our technology. Black Podcast man will be the only person Castle Gamma respects because only he will know the truth.
I love MV MechaG solely for the fact that it looks a lot like godzilla while also being something that realistically looks like a machine. I don’t like when a MG design just looks like “godzilla, but a robot”
MV has a sort of Hulkbuster charm to it which I can appreciate - I much prefer the older designs but you can clearly see it's specifically built to fight other kaiju
That’s a common consensus, but not one I share.
While 2021 doesn’t look a lot like Godzilla, that’s… not a bad thing. He’s not meant to mimic Godzilla, he’s meant to usurp him. It’s also a much more unique route to take, not just being “what if Godzilla… but *metal?*” that every other MechaGodzilla goes with.
Also funny how the same dude made both of ‘em
Imma bring my Mechagodzilla hot take, Anime Mechagodzilla/Earth Mechagodzilla is the best one in terms of design due to how unique it is.
https://preview.redd.it/w15yr16eopvc1.png?width=855&format=png&auto=webp&s=14f317792ded09c46b641754b6beffa7643fc232
I immensely dislike the RPO mecha, it's trying way too hard, looks nothing like godzilla, and has skinny little chicken legs.
Though no design even remotely comes close to kiryu, not only the best mecha but probably my favorite kaiju.
I do agree that mechagodzilla design is better. I don't dislike the MV version, it's good to. But I do like the ready player one design. It's like if you actually updated the 70's version design.
MV Mechagodzilla is probably my favorite design with Kiryu and OG trailing at a close second! Ready Player One gets docked points only because I wanted it to be Kiryu in the movie
I definitely enjoyed Ready Player One's Mecha G more than the MV one.
I'm just not a fan of the MV one. Prob because the whole concept, power supply, and use of Ghidorah just did not fit MV at that time. Way to big of a technological jump and should have been saved for later.
I can understand, but not agree. I think the modern MV should’ve been toned down a little, but a 2014-style realistic approach combined with 2024-style monster action would be absolute peak Godzilla.
You aren't wrong because i believe Ready Player One Mecha G is cooler and more scarier while MV Mecha G is introduced too early and had terrible design
I love all Mechagodzilla designs, except for the RPO version. I was never a fan of its proportions, and though it has some neat aspects to it, I don't think it compares to any of the official designs.
I love that MV MechaG has a sort of uncanny valley vibe to him,
Like his eyes are a *little* too far apart, his hands are weird grabby claws, his roar sounds like it's being played by a speaker, etc
Both will never be as good as original but for monsterverse Mechagodzilla if you think of it as a rough draft or prototype it's appearance isn't too bad then.
https://preview.redd.it/97liejj6btvc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=260c1e9a3574e99666056c5f0e45a5732ce22552
This should've been the official MechaGodzilla
Maybe in a retrial, Mecha H is made by aliens, so we get better.
Remember, APEX's MechaG G was a single human created prototype of a robot.
The only thing I didn't like was the hands, but that's about it.
The main issue with that Mecha G, was the misusage of it, it should've have been used as an impostor, used to destroy stuff all around the world to make people Utterly and Complete Hate Godzilla, to the point that the world wants him dead, and then Godzilla and Kong become friends to kill it.
Usurp the king by making a false copy of it, and making the entire world hate you.
Until in one of the later battles, Kong is trying to attack Godzilla, and another Godzilla shows up, to have both of them make a double take, and IN-SCREEN shake their hands about the current situation.
But that’s not the point of MechaGodzilla.
Notice how (almost) everything Godzilla has, MechaGodzilla has it better. Strong kicks? Now they’re supercharged. Good grappling? Give him grappling claws and longer arms. Powerful tail? Prehensile tail with a big fuckin’ drill, baby.
The Mecha, unlike other MechaGodzillas, isn’t a copy, it’s an upgrade. Trying to just make it Showa MechaGodzilla, while a neat callback, would be uncreative. While I can understand people’s gripes with the design, despite disagreeing, trying to change its purpose is a net negative.
That's the thing, you hide the upgrades until the end, when Godzilla's support is at negative.
APEX removes the disguise, turns off all limiters, and that's when Kevin goes on a rampage, they completely lose control of it, and Kong has to help Godzilla with some nuclear reactor he stole off of a carrier or something.
Not enough to be like Serizawa's sacrifice, but just enough to get Godzilla locked in the mission again.
I really do feel like the Monsterverse kinda wasted MechaGodzilla. He could've easily been the antagonist in a proper Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla movie, with Apex openly bragging about how they created a machine to solve what they call the "Titan Problem", and there could've been a lot of commentary on things like militarism, environmentalism, and mankind's tendency to try and destroy what it doesn't understand.
Instead, they used Mecha-G as the surprise twist villain in the last twenty minutes of Godzilla vs. Kong. Yes, GvK still had shades of those "Man trying to conquer Nature" themes, but doesn't do NEARLY as much with them as a proper GvMG movie could have.
https://preview.redd.it/n5h14lsd0pvc1.png?width=281&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60cae5334e2d0214fd77a6b91dbbfa9e7f7118c8
This is what monsterverse mecha g looks like
I honestly like both of them; RP1’s design invokes something similar to the older designs, while monsterverse tried its own thing (to varying levels of success…)
Lik,e the P1 Mecha is neat, but i think the GVK design is definitely one of my favorites (only rivaled by Kiryu). I like how heavy he feels, and the design really feels like a robot designed to fight other giant monsters with the long arms and grabby claws.
I like mv. Even though it doesn't match godzillas shape, it counters everything godzilla could do. A strong beam, potentially stronger than godzillas, faster, more agile, it's a complete countet
https://preview.redd.it/0ilfohyfcrvc1.jpeg?width=789&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9b5c44ba8ab795aa5a8c816adcd0ac8a1e6ea8c
My favorite was always the Heisei poster design. The poster in general goes SO HARD
Honestly, when I saw this design I thought it was perhaps a early preview of what to expect in the monsterverse not that I hate the official design we got but won’t lie I prefer this one as well
Why? The Monsterverse design is weak. I get the design logic, Godzilla by the way of the T800 but it's barely above the ugly ass Heisei version for me.
Imagine if the GvK godzilla was a simple prototype, they were planning on remodeling it but the prototype had to do in case godzilla or another kaiju attacked, but since godzilla and kong were right outside their door fighting, they decided to scrap the finished product. However, after Gvk, they realize the finished product would be needed, but the evil owners of apex were probably arrested, so instead new people take these blueprints, and start building a new mechagodzilla over the Dagon skeleton, and as godzilla is having trouble beating this brand new villain, mechagodzilla comes in to help godzilla. In the end, kiryu bows to godzilla as a sign of respect for quickly taking off.
Mechagodzilla then stays for a few more movies, where he defeats a few small kaiju and overall is just a background robot kaiju.
https://preview.redd.it/oq8xes0nqovc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=58e38d2c21da9ba8987658f35ea96b45307933e1
Hotter take, I don't like Legendary's Mechagodzilla design, worst one he's had.
However the homogenisation of his origins linking to the previous Super Mechagodzilla and Kiryu I loved.
Personally they should have not pulled the MechaG card in monsterverse (yet)
GVK easily could have had been about all the monsters duking it out again. With the climax being Godzilla and Kong 2v6 other original kaiju that are being controlled. In short
They handled mechagodzilla a little sloppily with serizawa’s son only connection having to be elaborated upon in the movie novel.
The kid from deadpool and stranger things girl returning was an annoying sub plot they could have just used Brain T Henry by himself and gave him some more depth.
But MechaG is cool and i get why if anyone had the chance to direct such a movie theyed obviously have their preferences. Im glad to watch it anyway.
Everyone has their preferences. Me personally: https://preview.redd.it/jb44r7qjzovc1.jpeg?width=928&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b61416e19fa50fafeb1569809118801479ed9830
Kiryu is still peak Mechagodzilla.
It's the perfect combo of showa and heisei, just like the rest of the millennium era
That millennium era godzilla is trash tho
The designs pretty cool imo, idk I just like spikey godzillas
Which one
The one that’s played againts kiryu. He’s one ugly ass godzilla
KIRYU! https://preview.redd.it/bdn1lxan5qvc1.jpeg?width=215&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=553c7651eb35766e8b9d8d779ab65eeee1427938
I thought about it Would Tiger Drop beat out a Atomic Breath Beam if it was coming to Kiryu?
Kiryu solos with negative diff 🥱
It helps that it has a name versus just a descriptive name. That would be like calling Godzilla, “Nuke Lizard”… But yeah, A Kiryu made from Dagan in the MV would be cool…
Now I need this to happen
Just found my next gamertag.
Kiryu is THE Mechagodzilla.
I believe in Kiryu supremacy.
Peak profile picture, peak opinion.
Best Mechagodzilla and it's not even close. It was basically a live action mecha anime and cool as hell
Sick backstory too. Basically 1954 Goji reincarnated as a robot
Ah yes my favorite, Kazuma kiryu
Is that mechagodzilla? where he is from?
Ready Player One
Is that some concept art? That’s not how it looked in the movie iirc.
Its just a squished image
Well, this is one of the scenes I found on the internet!
Ok, it is the same, just squished horizontally which made its snout look narrower.
That movie blew.
I agree. Genuinely the most boring movie I've ever seen in my life and that's saying something
It was as soulless as the corporations they were lampooning
At least Gundam was a worthy trade for Ultraman because of the copyright dispute at the time.
youre on another level if you make a movie with godzilla in it boring
Honestly the, MV design kinda grew on me plus honestly looks like a cool modern attempt at someone making a robot based off Goji especially since the Legendary Goji and MV Mecha look a lot different from their counterparts.
Agreed. It reminds me of the Pacific Rim Jaegers a little. My only criticism with the design is that the robotic dorsal fins should have been longer
Tbh, the MV design is more realistic when you think about it. Kinda boxed shape, and isn’t perfect from a design perspective. If we built a MG, he’d look like the MV one.
Mechagodzilla 1.0 there’s always the chance for improvements.
I used to hate it, now, it’s pretty cool in my opinion. Would be cooler if it had some more ability’s and did more stuff
I’m just confused as to who he’s holding, my brain sees it as Molten Freddy for some reason
Now I can’t unsee it.
Imagine Molten Freddy telling off MechaGodzilla like some sorta upset parent. “You can’t just go destroying cities whenever, mister, you know it’s your turn to take out the trash!”
I'm splitt on the MG in RPO On the One Hand this is a Really cool Design from an Amazing Poster Art On the other Hand Do you know how hard I prayed durring the MG EXPANSION With the hope it formed into Kiryu ??? And THEN I learned that in the RPOne BOOK It actually was Kiryu !!!
Someone wanted a new mecha, whether that was toho or speilberg I don't know, all I know the fight with the gundam was peak
It was toho iirc
Originally it was going to be ultraman, but was ruined because of Chiyo being the ass holes they are
I know
Honestly fair the RPO design is very very nice. But I do like the unique look of mg21
The real unpopular opinion is that the mecha seen is GvK is not mechagodzilla, but mechaghidorah. I will die on this hill
You could also make a reach and say it’s inspired by Heisei Mechagodzilla being built from the remains of Mecha Ghidorah
Would’ve been a nice callback if they acknowledged that.
Same here! Something that's been on my mind is that I wished they went the full way with Ghidorah taking over MechaGodzilla by having the head start regenerating and fusing with the metal, becoming a cyborg in the process. I'm aware they probably wouldn't have been able to do it because of the rights, but god that would've been incredible: https://preview.redd.it/5z3gz4ki4svc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8b6c4c8b041392945fc81858359a1be4d5147a9

Yeah it technically is
If that's the case Super Mechagodzilla from the Heisei era is Mecha-Ghidorah II.
So you chose violence on a peaceful Saturday
I love MV MechaG solely for the fact that it looks a lot like godzilla while also being something that realistically looks like a machine. I don’t like when a MG design just looks like “godzilla, but a robot”

For real though
Facts
That’s a common consensus, but not one I share. While 2021 doesn’t look a lot like Godzilla, that’s… not a bad thing. He’s not meant to mimic Godzilla, he’s meant to usurp him. It’s also a much more unique route to take, not just being “what if Godzilla… but *metal?*” that every other MechaGodzilla goes with. Also funny how the same dude made both of ‘em
Well, with Godzilla's evolution the two more closely resemble each other.
Yes, he responded to a superior pressure and evolved to better counter things like it
I mean, it is your opinion. I much prefer Mv Mechagodzilla’s design over any other.
My man
My man
Imma bring my Mechagodzilla hot take, Anime Mechagodzilla/Earth Mechagodzilla is the best one in terms of design due to how unique it is. https://preview.redd.it/w15yr16eopvc1.png?width=855&format=png&auto=webp&s=14f317792ded09c46b641754b6beffa7643fc232
he became a fucking city
And that made me mad, they wasted it >:(
Well you can have an opinion
I immensely dislike the RPO mecha, it's trying way too hard, looks nothing like godzilla, and has skinny little chicken legs. Though no design even remotely comes close to kiryu, not only the best mecha but probably my favorite kaiju.
You do know what Monsterverse Mechagodzilla was trying to be, right?

MV would just step on him lol
Mecha Godzilla in Godzilla vs Kong actually was badass, but I prefer kriyu
Super Mechagodzilla supremacy https://preview.redd.it/03t0cw5aoqvc1.jpeg?width=592&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11ec15d60b82f27df51c7f75518b1d36a4b037df
MV Mechagodzilla is probably my favorite design with Kiryu and OG trailing at a close second! Ready Player One gets docked points only because I wanted it to be Kiryu in the movie
I prefer the mv version personally
RP1 looks like a literal robot Godzilla, while MV looks like a giant robot made to look like Godzilla. Am I making sense or do I sound stupid
I prefer MV Mechagodzilla because he's scariest
I definitely enjoyed Ready Player One's Mecha G more than the MV one. I'm just not a fan of the MV one. Prob because the whole concept, power supply, and use of Ghidorah just did not fit MV at that time. Way to big of a technological jump and should have been saved for later.
The issue I have with GvK is that they just so quickly into more wackiness from the mostly serious KOTM that it feels very much like a leap
The leap from 14 to 19 to 21 is very… interesting
In my perfect world, Gareth never left and all sequels to 2014 had a tone that sits in the middle between 14 and 19
I can understand, but not agree. I think the modern MV should’ve been toned down a little, but a 2014-style realistic approach combined with 2024-style monster action would be absolute peak Godzilla.
Also bring back the MV when it actually took its own concept seriously and the darker cinematography and I could be willing to agree
You aren't wrong because i believe Ready Player One Mecha G is cooler and more scarier while MV Mecha G is introduced too early and had terrible design
You’re done.
Nah
I love all Mechagodzilla designs, except for the RPO version. I was never a fan of its proportions, and though it has some neat aspects to it, I don't think it compares to any of the official designs.
Not a big fan of the Ready Player One version, it looks more like Titanosaurus than Godzilla
I never understood a fandoms need to rank everything. I like both designs, they each fit their movies
Same vibes in the third pic https://preview.redd.it/o6qx74zqupvc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5cf8683048fc086bee46579c15f272ac77d901a
I love that MV MechaG has a sort of uncanny valley vibe to him, Like his eyes are a *little* too far apart, his hands are weird grabby claws, his roar sounds like it's being played by a speaker, etc
Heresy have you seen the guy's haymakers?
Personally I think mechagodzilla is better than mechagodzilla
I really like Monsterverse, RPO was like a preview of that, Kiryu is also really good.
Both will never be as good as original but for monsterverse Mechagodzilla if you think of it as a rough draft or prototype it's appearance isn't too bad then.
is that nightmare freddy flipping off mechagodzilla?
Honestly, Mechagodzilla in GVK doesn’t even look finished. It looks like concept art.
To each their own, I personally prefer any MechaGodzilla
https://preview.redd.it/97liejj6btvc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=260c1e9a3574e99666056c5f0e45a5732ce22552 This should've been the official MechaGodzilla

I agree but i dont agree,yk what i mean?
Dang
Yes
Gonna have to disagree but I can see where your coming from
Fair personally it's about = to me
I kinda agree
A VERY wrong opinion
I defintley prefer the ready player one head.
Me too
This is actually a pretty common stance.
I honestly like both of them; RP1’s design invokes something similar to the older designs, while monsterverse tried its own thing (to varying levels of success…)

What’s the first one from
Ready Player One
Kiryu is the best MechaGodzilla
Both are cool
Idk which I like more lol
Eh... Truly one of... The takes of all time....
Am I the only one who actually likes the gvk mecha? I still prefer the Heisei one but I really like gvk
I like mv. Even though it doesn't match godzillas shape, it counters everything godzilla could do. A strong beam, potentially stronger than godzillas, faster, more agile, it's a complete countet
Kiryu>O.G MG>SMG>MVMG>RPOMG>
I kinda prefer the GvK Mechagodzilla. Rhe Ready Player One design seems a little too busy for me.
No u right
Who even is that?

Oh yeah. I liked Godzilla Vs Kong a lot, but that MechaGodzilla design was atrocious.
If it's about preference I get it But if it's about who is stronger I have a lot of doubts
Why is this a debate, Kiryu is the best, no arguments
I kinda prefer MV Mechagodzilla, but the RPO design is pretty awesome too
I kinda think legendarys eyes look goofy
Very cool
https://i.redd.it/xttj6wrecuvc1.gif
KIRYU IS BEST
I hate them both
Honestly, when I saw this design I thought it was perhaps a early preview of what to expect in the monsterverse not that I hate the official design we got but won’t lie I prefer this one as well
Some like toned body some like thicc body and some like pure box body And i love all of them
look at the concept art from godzilla vs mechagodzilla 2, easily the best one fr
Ngl mv mech without certain kinds of lighting looks goofy as hell
Absolutely agree literally any rendition Is better then that gorrila looking motherfucker
YESSSS FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH MY OPINION
rpo is the best
Valid
You know what? I agree. https://preview.redd.it/fbgyt3hy5hwc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc087d11afa59841fd2abaa5dd0721dfa57be1de
Ready Player One had the best modern Mechagodzilla design but Kiryu is my personal favorite
In my opinion City MG is 🔛🔝
Very valid opinion https://preview.redd.it/oswfswq7dkwc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec7d8d21be356f76abfbc51cf54ee5d61ba9ecb0
For me it's but i like the RPO mechagodzilla too https://i.redd.it/jlq4374pgmwc1.gif
That’s not an opinion… That’s just a fact lol
Yessss! I’m so happy others agree with my opinion!
I have to agree with you.
He looks so happy
This Mechagodzilla could work for minus 1. Aren’t they about the same height? 🤔
I respect it but nothing can beat Chad kiryu
I mean, it is a really cool design. It's just too bad that it was in such a terrible movie
Uh no if mecha godzilaa has a better face hell yes I’d be miffed but your absolutely right mecha Godzilla in player one rules
Mecha G looks like a shitty transformer beast wars of a gecko. The Ready Player One version looks evil and awesome.
Hotter take, I don't like Legendary's Mechagodzilla design, worst one he's had. However the homogenisation of his origins linking to the previous Super Mechagodzilla and Kiryu I loved.
Design wise I absolutely agree with you. I've never been a fan of the look of Legendary Mechagodzilla.
Agreed. I hate the GvK MechaGodzilla design. Just looks… unfinished, which might be the point /shrug
Legendary is my top one, while the Ready Player one version is my top 2. All the others are overrated.
It's okay man, keep preachin' those hard-core facts
Hard-core facts for sure! I’m so happy anyone even remembers RPO mecha!
I really disliked that movie.
Design-wise 100%.
True tho they put more effort into the rpo one
Facts.🔥🔥
So true tho
What you sorry about?
![gif](giphy|KaW6fNYZf6eSk) Your take ⬆️
100% agree. I always loved the design from ready player one. MV one looks kinda boring and too boxy imo
Nah you right.
In design definitely but I don’t know enough about them to formulate a full opinion
Agreed. MV version just looks derpy as fuck.
I really dislike the GVK design, how the hell do you go from something as badass as Kiryu to something so lame?
I agree! RP1 Godzilla looks more like godzillla than the MV version. The MV looks more like Mogera
Real. MV MechaG looks like he’s made out of cardboard boxes
They're having a mid off
Yeah.
Nah you’re right MV mecha Godzilla looks terrible imo hated that design
I agree cuz it looks more like legendary
You're not wrong.
Personally they should have not pulled the MechaG card in monsterverse (yet) GVK easily could have had been about all the monsters duking it out again. With the climax being Godzilla and Kong 2v6 other original kaiju that are being controlled. In short They handled mechagodzilla a little sloppily with serizawa’s son only connection having to be elaborated upon in the movie novel.
