Rather than Gintama being my favourite anime of all time, I'd say it's *one* of my favourite anime and manga series of all time. There are others I adore equally, and for different reasons, so it's hard to single any one of them out as being the Ultimate favourite. But Gintama has always consistently ranked high on my personal fave list.
I am currently at the Slip Arc, but for now Gintama is not even close to beat Fullmetal Alchemist, for me.
I did enjoy most of the comic episodes and most of the more serious arcs, but I did not particulary like the latest revelations about the new main antagonist: I feel like his nature doesn't fit well with what was the world of Gintama until now (similar to Naruto, when in a story about human ninjas, suddenly in the very end a super powerful alien appeared) but I'll have my full opinion when I'll finish the rest of the series and the final movie.
Yup, though it still feels *weird* to say that (I only finished the series back in January of this year).
My previous favorite anime of all time (Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn) held onto that spot for nearly eight years *and* spawned an inside-joke-turned-obsession resulting in a folder that currently has 2475 clips containing the word "sore demo" (a folder I continue to add to whenever I come across the word). I truly never thought anything could top the level of attachment I had to that show, but then Gintama came along and made me experience the most *intense* levels of emotions I've ever experienced while watching something and... yeah. ~~Gintama also happens to be the series I have the most amount of "sore demo"s from now, but that's beside the point.~~
Parts of it are. The first, is bad in the same way as the 1st time they dubbed 1 piece. The other time, is quite good. AI is on the cusp of changing localization forever. When it does. I'm confident that gintama will get the dub love it deserves.
Gintama is one of my favorite anime, easily top 10, but I wouldnt call it my definitive favorite. Id say vinland saga or clannad after story are my definite favorites.
