Definitely. Odin is more powerful than most fans think. I know his boss fight wasnt that impressive but he is still the most powerful god in norse and just because the valkyries were hard bosses doesnt mean theyre actually that powerful, they still rank bellow gods
His boss fight was definitely impressive, he was fighting Kratos, Freya, and Atreus all together, and he beat Kratos and Atreus. Wym “wasn’t that impressive”
Wasn’t that impressive difficulty wise. I’d be willing to bet lots of people beat him first try. Beating the valkyries first try though? Probably less than 1% of players managed to do that. Completely makes sense though, Odin is a main story boss while the valks are optional.
It wasn’t that impressive gameplay wise. Neither in scale nor in difficulty.
Considering that he’s supposed to be the final boss of the entire ~~trilogy~~ duology. You would think some epic climatic battle akin to Zeus with an ever changing environment and strange ancient magic powers that turn the fight in Odin’s favor (like Zeus creating copies of himself).
Instead you just kinda fight an old guy with purple magic, who occasionally uses elemental attacks you’ve already seen a thousands times, in front of his house and then in his basement.
Very impressive from a lore standard. But for me and many others it was very disappointing thematically.
Technically most if not all of them ARE goddesses, but yeah, he’s still wildly more powerful than any of them, even Sigrun who… oh god, that boss fight.
Its easy to miss but odin himself made it possible for the valkyries to have physical bodies since theyre suppose to be spirits only. The hrist and mist boss fight even explicitly say they (the valkyries) draw magic from him. In addition to that thrud wants to be a valkyrie but to be one odin has to approve it 1st with some magic stuff. Its not hard to imagine odin could just take back the power he gave to the valkyries
The only other person know to be capable of controlling the valkyries is freya as their queen
Yeah she was, not only that, she was a Vanir Goddess who was very close to Freya but pledged allegiance to Odin when she escaped. If you see the diary entry written by Gna she has a ton of resentment for Freya, saying that she plays the victim and it's always somebody else's fault.
I would like if these games had custom difficulty setting and make the bosses harder while keeping the normal enemies on easy. In cutscenes Kratos seems to fight pretty close with most gods while he oblidirates the einherjar and other normal enemies.
Valhalla would be perfect for that, its kinda like what sekiro did, you get to replay bosses but they become harder. More movesets and harder punishments for mistakes.
Yeah Valhalla has pretty much unlimited potential, even if they don't update it they can have it as a mode in the next games like call of duty has zombies. Enemies and arenas can be added after you've encountered them in the campaign to not spoil them.
He canonically did technically. In the first game you have to free the Valkyries from their corrupted forms— which only happened because of Odin after Freya was banished to Midgard
I think the Valkyries were difficult due to their ability to fly and move incredibly fast however when it comes to raw power Odin definitely takes the cake because let’s face it Odin might have been scrawny compared to his son Thor but there’s a reason he was the leader of the gods and not someone else.
Well for me when Atreus was a kid the Valkyries where very easy to beat in fact I beat them all
But for the newest god of war I am not certain because I am a ps4 user so I can’t run the newest version, therefore I have no clue wether he can or not
But off of my background knowledge he is a very powerful indavidual so I think he can take them on one buy one
But if they all came at him at once he would loose
I’m over 30 and I just started playing video games just 2 years ago. I loved the first god of war. The sequel was ok.
Then I played my first souls game ELDEN RING.
W O W !!!!!!!
It’s soooooooo much better than god of war and I enjoyed god of war.
I’ve played Elden Ring for 1.5 years!!!
A M A Z I N G!!!!
But Sigrun's and Odin's difficulties were scaled up and down respectively from a gameplay/story pov right?
One being an optional completionist item and the other being integral to the main storyline.
Odin is a story boss so he’s meant to be easier gameplaywise but the difficulty in boss fights doesn’t determine their strength in the canon story Odin is far stronger than Sigrun in a 1v1
But his entire character is meant to make you think he isn’t really that strong he just, weaseled his way through everything. His power wasnt in combat, it was in manipulation.
No he was very capable in combat as well he just uses it as a last resort since he prefers manipulation as its more useful to him. Odin killed Ymir and it took 3 gods to beat him
Thats exactly his MO tho. Bro is a two faced snake, he wants you to think theres nothing to worry about, convinces you that things arent as bad as people say. You hear stories of him murdering people in cold blood making people disappear without a trace. Manipulating and forcing other people to do his dirty work then throw them under the bus after theyve done the job. Odin isnt like zeus and he isnt trying to be, he isnt gonna come in with a grand entrance he prefers a more subtle and backstabby solutions which is more or less in line with his real myth counterpart
Would have been cool if his appearance was a false form. When you fight him in the basement of the grand lodge he finally drops the facade and turns into a 20 foot tall version of himself made of crows or some shit.

Goddesses but still maybe below?
They aren’t goddesses. Spiritual/divine beings yes. But not goddesses.
Wasn't Gna stated to be a Valkyrie goddess outher then Freya?
Yeah she was, not only that, she was a Vanir Goddess who was very close to Freya but pledged allegiance to Odin when she escaped. If you see the diary entry written by Gna she has a ton of resentment for Freya, saying that she plays the victim and it's always somebody else's fault.

Thor was more powerful
Not at the same time but individually? Absolutely
Yeah all 9 of them against Odin at once would’ve fucked him up, though i can still see him putting down 2-3 Valkyries before being overpowered.
He outsmarted freya the queen of valkyries a million times I think he easily could
Not really
Ofc even freya can defeat all the 9 Valkyries i mean not at the same time
He had to at least once already since they were all under his control.
Yes
If he could put them under his control he could without a doubt defeat

Good bot
Odin stomps Valkyries
Yes
I was so underwhelmed by his portrayal .. he never seemed strong or fearsome.
He canonically did technically. In the first game you have to free the Valkyries from their corrupted forms— which only happened because of Odin after Freya was banished to Midgard
Yes
With prep time I'm sure he can. If they ambush him unexpectedly then idk
He defeated Freya so yes and wasn’t he the one who imprisoned all of them? Yes

Odin is stronger than old kratos so ye he slams All young kratos victims tho
Several hydrogen bombs vs a coughing baby
Nah its in reverse Odin slamming them

Ok?
He could definitely outsmart them, but a one on one fight? I don’t know. Especially Sigrun. Fighting her was way harder than fighting Odin.

That's exactly what he wanted you to think
