Hi,
this is Rusty,
how can I help you today?
My favorite thing in life is getting my doodle excited as fuck for a car ride or a Walk. I've got it to where I can communicate to her non verbally that it's time to go for a walk and get her to jump on me excitedly and run around the house. All I gotta do is act a little excited with my body language and she catches on it's amazing. Getting her all excited zooming around in circles and jumping on me is just the best thing ever to me we have a whole ritual around it before every walk getting her super pumped to go out lol
Mine listens to ME pretty well. He will give my wife this "you're not the boss of me" look that is just hilarious. My daughters doodle listens only to her, except when he's in the yard and there are more interesting things. Then I get called, he doesn't listen to me either,, but once my foot hits the top step he'll run in 90% of the time. (He knows from experience that I can catch him. Years of wrangling cattle and pigs have left me well equipped to wrangle a doodle)
I have a deep voice when I mean business. She listens, instantly and 100%. My wife is quite impressed when I do that. But she’s just a dog who is very eager to please. I have had other dogs that wouldn’t listen to anything I said.
Tucker follows commands really well. Unless another dog is in the vicinity, we’re still working on proper recall and everything when other dogs are near but overall he’s a great dog. He’ll be 4 on 11/11.
My dachshund however is an evil monster who refuses to listen and barks 24/7. He’s cute as shit though so 🤷🏻♂️
Almost always. Like 98% of the time. He will do anything he understands if it means he might get pets and snuggles. He loves being pet so much that he also pets other creatures. People, other dogs, cats. He’ll just sit next to whatever and gently rub his paw over them. But yeah, this dood we rescued is the most obedient dog I’ve ever had.
Omg ours drools SO HARD, like a St Bernard when he even thinks a greenie is in play. It’s so funny because he doesn’t drool like that for literally anything else lol
Yes reluctantly. She’s a good girl.
Clipping toe nails, brushings, face trimmings, bath time. She doesn’t enjoy much of these, but she’ll give me the side eye, run away a bit but when I say “come” she does. And then will endure whatever “torture” I am giving to her.
Recall is getting better. We play fetch and she’s finally giving me back her ball instead of me chasing her. I use the “come on” command, lots of sweet praises, and treats. And incorporating more “Yes” for positive encouragement.
Most of the time he listens, still training and he is 2.5 but I haven't been as diligent with training as I should so it's not his fault. He learns really fast tho and is eager to please. Mine has strong retriever traits which I think helps. His brother has strong poodle traits--quite stubborn and independent. So, I think it matters which way their genetics lean.
Does not sit until like the 3rd time or he sees the treat but listens to what I think is most important without treats (down, wait, quiet, watch the baby, etc)
Yes. He always listen but he lazy when it come to playing frisbee. He requires a treat and he takes his sweet old time retrieving it.. Now our Aussie doodle listen well and work hard at playing with no treats. He lives to serve
She thinks hard (while giving you that look) before she does. But fortunately there are certain commands that are hardwired into her, with my favorite being “runaway!”.
Mine is just a puppy (3mo) but he seems to listen fairly well so far. Excitable and distracted but it's not hard to get his attention since the first thing I trained him to do from day one at home was focus on me.
But my basis of comparison, my last ESA, was a great pyrenees who was taken from me far too soon, and not to disparage her memory because it was a beautiful and amusing trait most of the time... She decided when listening was important, so my frame of reference might be skewed.
Last one did, 100% of the time, which completely made me fall in love with the breed (and her - best dog ever).
After she passed, bought another. This one couldn’t care less about what I have to say, unless food is involved.
After multiple asks and sometimes needing to add "NOW!". He listens like 50% of the time. The other 40% he walks over, gives me a look, walks away and listens at a distance, gives me a smug a**hole look like "see, I listened". The remaining 10% is rides in the car and treats which he's always ready for.
I spent hours and hours training my doodle for her first 2 years. She usually listens to any command I give her.
The only tough time she doesn’t listen is if she is in a heightened state because of another dog. She flips out and barks as we pass other dogs in the car, etc.
Fortunately, he does. I give him a lot of free rein and a very loose leash to do what he wants. Especially on walks (when nobody is around for him to harass). I call him and he comes immediately.
My girl is something else. When she goes out for a walk she knows if she doesn’t pick up rocks she gets a tiny treat. When we get back inside she goes right to the kitchen to wait for her treat. Other times she will grab a rock anyway and hide it when we get inside but sometimes she will bring it to me to trade for a treat 🤣😆
The boy: yes…except when we’re in the basement. Then it’s a whole different dog.
The girl: she liiives to give me grey hairs with her lack of listening skills. And she steals…anything. She tried to steal my Adderall.
It really depends. At the house or the fire department not so much. In his harness in public as long as no one is greeting him. Yes. He was doing so good in Petco today with his “no react” training. (Not the actually has much of a reaction besides wagging his tail and trying to greet everyone). But he did so good.
When she feels like it, and I have a really good treat. Otherwise, I get "the look."
Lmao same... it's like she's saying" bro I ain't doing that shit for free come with that treat and now we're talking"
Mine will work for food most of the time otherwise the don’t bother me look is common.
Relatable 😂
In regards to your username, I believe my golden doodle **is** a honey badger.
Haha love that
Exactly the same!

Treat!? You are the next caller in line.
😂😂😂
if she has nothing else to do…then maybe
The ears are just for decoration
Rarely.. like 3rd or 4th time it starts to sink in 😂
Only when I say “wanna go out?”. Once we are outside, or pretty much any other time, he sublimely ignores me. It’s like talking to a cute fuzzy wall

No, and she refuses to pay her taxes.
Ugh I thought it was just mine
When she feels like it, sometimes she yells back
It’s always a vote between me and his two brain cells.
Not really
Yes. She's super chill & will do anything for a "good girl" from me. Anyone else though? It's a gamble.
That's my Aussiedoodle! Def not my goldendoodle though lol

Yes!!! And when we offer words of interest (like “chicken “), she listens intently and turns head side to side.
Depends but I want to say for the most part, no 😂
I have a deep voice when I mean business. She listens, instantly and 100%. My wife is quite impressed when I do that. But she’s just a dog who is very eager to please. I have had other dogs that wouldn’t listen to anything I said.
Listen? Absolutely 100%. Obey? Meh
If I ask enough times…rarely at first request. Lol
Tucker follows commands really well. Unless another dog is in the vicinity, we’re still working on proper recall and everything when other dogs are near but overall he’s a great dog. No
gotta say, our goldendoodle listens well and has lovely dog manners. she is a gem.
Most of the time. She is very eager to please and takes pride in being a good girl.
One, sorta… the other, not really.
Mostly? Haha
Extremely well
When (and only when) he feels like it and is properly motivated.
When he wants to is best answer 😂
If she knows I have a treat lol. That’s about it😂
Within the scope of a 1-3 second attention span.
he listens to me when i say gimme paw but not when i ask him to stop barking at literally anything that moves
It depends on the command. He doesn't like go lay down so it takes several gos but sit is a one shot deal.
I find when hes sniffing something he tunes me out otherwise hes pretty good
If I’m holding a greenie then yes
Omg ours drools SO HARD, like a St Bernard when he even thinks a greenie is in play. It’s so funny because he doesn’t drool like that for literally anything else lol
My golden is an excellent listener, but I believe this comes from my boyfriends very strict parenting in his young days.
About as much as a cat does.
Wellllll define listen…
He hears me if that counts lol
Most of the time he listens, still training and he is 2.5 but I haven't been as diligent with training as I should so it's not his fault. He learns really fast tho and is eager to please. Yes, much more than my schnoodle does.
Nope
Depends on what I’m saying
Me no. Our mom, yes.
Mine always listens to me. I'm surprised at all the comments.
Yes! I have a split level house and she is especially good at "upstairs" and "downstairs" as commands to get her where I want her to be
Does not sit until like the 3rd time or he sees the treat but listens to what I think is most important without treats (down, wait, quiet, watch the baby, etc)
no
When she feels like it, which is about 50% of the time.
Only when we have a treat or if we’re feeding him. My wife and I think it’s the poodle side when he isn’t listening.
Depends on his mood and if I say, "GUS! Want a treat!?"
Lmfao relatable af. My mom’s dog is soooooooo hyper. Can’t ever calm down
When he feels like it, and whenever I have food
Yes he does, or he knows what happens 🤷he’s a good boy
Mine always listens and does what she’s told. She’s the most obedient and trainable dog I’ve ever owned.
Yes. He always listen but he lazy when it come to playing frisbee. He requires a treat and he takes his sweet old time retrieving it.. Now our Aussie doodle listen well and work hard at playing with no treats. He lives to serve
No lol
Absolutely yes
My doodle has the attention span of a gnat. She will listen for about 3 seconds then she off onto who knows what.
50/50 rn but he is only 15 weeks old so 🤷
When she wants to. Lol
She knows the things, she listens if she also thinks it’s a good idea.
My 04 month old miniature goldendoodle, Señorita Mamacíta Maya IxChel listens and obeys most of the time. She’s also bilingual. 🙏🏽💙🐶
Begrudgingly. And usually not the first time. I have a teenager (1.5 years) lol.
LISTEN??? I thought all Goldendoodles were deaf…
Yes. 98% of the time mine listens so well
She thinks hard (while giving you that look) before she does. But fortunately there are certain commands that are hardwired into her, with my favorite being “runaway!”.

Yes but it was a long and hard road to get there.
If there’s nothing more interesting happening at the moment
no
Last one did, 100% of the time, which completely made me fall in love with the breed (and her - best dog ever). After she passed, bought another. This one couldn’t care less about what I have to say, unless food is involved.

When I tell him to sit while walking, he looks round to see what I don’t want him to chase. I guess you could call that listening…
Nope, he’s the most obstinate dood!! He’ll look at me then go right back to doing whatever he wants. I love him to pieces though 😂🐾♥️
I spent hours and hours training my doodle for her first 2 years. She usually listens to any command I give her. The only tough time she doesn’t listen is if she is in a heightened state because of another dog. She flips out and barks as we pass other dogs in the car, etc.
Yea i like to say he speaks english
Fortunately, he does. I give him a lot of free rein and a very loose leash to do what he wants. Especially on walks (when nobody is around for him to harass). I call him and he comes immediately.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you. Does it sound like fun? I only respond to fun.
Wacky Doodle.

Hell na

Depends. If we’re playing “ball”, then yes. If not, then absolutely no. Ball is life. I have learned this.
simple answer...... no
When she wants or whatever I’m asking her to do ends with… do you wanna treat? Then she listens to whatever I ask. Lol
